    @Pirouette: Ugh. I hate running things by her! But I will do it if I cant fit the trip in to occur in May.

    @OldpuebloJenn: Good to know! Both SPG properties so I can use points to stay, which I'm really hoping to be able to do. I do like the lazy river. Which property would you choose if you could just use points for either?

    @mrschickpea: So glad it was better than you expected!

    @mrschickpea: @pregnantbee: @Pirouette: My one-hour test is next Friday. I'm nervous about passing too! I was pretty close to failing with LO.

  3. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

    @pwnstar: Do you know if that test is to be done at a specific point in the pregnancy?

  4. mrschickpea

    clementine / 928 posts

    @pregnantbee: yes, Galveston, Tx! It's driveable since I'll be 32 weeks! I haven't been in a while and we want seafood

    @agold: 32 weeks!

    @Pirouette: I was surprised I didn't have to fast for over 8 hours but then again I've only done a 3-HR a couple years ago for a diabetes check in college (ended up being severe hypoglycemia, not diabetes) and I felt like I was dying. I later found out my sugar was at a 29!! I work graveyard so I stopped eating at 3am and felt fine for this test!

    @agold: the Phoenicians adult only pool is a bit nicer than the Westin's. But my husband likes the courses (and AC carts) at Westin better than the Phoenicians. If you plan to check in and stay Id say Phoenician, the dining offered is a bit better, but Westin has a lot of popular upscale chains near it and good local restaurants right there in the shopping district, and there's a shuttle from the hotel over. I'd say Phoenician if you just want to pool and relax, and Westin if you plan to do other stuff too!

    We are skipping a babymoon:( BUT - We are planning a Winter 2016/2017 trip to Disney Hawaii We figured for how much it would cost (even flying just from CA) we might as well wait until the new baby is 6 months (sitting up hopefully) and I can enjoy a cocktail too!

    @agold: my Doc generally wants it done between 24 and 28 weeks, and he wanted me to do it as soon as possible. I will be 24+1 when I take the test.

    @MrsBeluga: Aulani??????

    @pwnstar: Thanks for the info. My doc hasn't told me about it yet but maybe at my next appointment. I'll be 25 weeks then.

    @agold: YES!!! I feel like such a little kid, but I want to go to Aulani just as much as my 2.5 year old does:). Shes a total fish, and I love the beach, so that combined with Disney, should be amazing, expensive but AMAZING!

    If anyone has advice on Hawaii in say January/February send it on over!

    I'm really late to this party..lol

    Location: Central California
    EDD: Aug .17
    How far along: Just about 23 weeks
    First child?: Second!
    First doctor appointment: Yikes, it was sometime in January.
    Any symptoms so far?: Give me all da food.
    Who have you told?: Everybody

    These past few weeks have been draggggingggg. Is it August yet?

  13. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

    @MrsBeluga: Oh my gosh. I have been wanting to go ever since I saw the dreamy commercial on TV. I don't even have kids and I'm not even someone who cares anything about Disney!! I've been to Maui in December and April and it was amazing both times. I hope January/February are great too! I would also definitely skip a babymoon, and any other trip for that matter, if I knew I would be going to Aulani soon.

    @agold: My dr said bet. 24-28w. I was surprised they said it so early because I don't remember doing it until 28w last time. So not psyched to do it again. It's not bad -- just takes time, as my practice does a 2-hr test for everyone, rather than a 1 and then 3 if fail the 1-hr.

    @koalahugz: Welcome! Yay, another CA bee I'm in Northern CA. How old is your first? My boy will be 4 in June.

    We're not having an official babymoon this time, but we're getting away for an overnight nearby in a couple weeks to celebrate our anniversary. ILs are coming to visit and agreed to hang with DS. Yay!

    @pregnantbee: Thank you! My first little one will be 3 in November, currently potty training so no babymoon for us in the near future lol.

    We did get ourselves a nice hotel room for our anniversary this past February. Nice and relaxing. Just watched Duck Dynasty and ordered a pizza. It was nice to sleep in for once!

    Oh, and what is your first and do you know what you're having now? We'll be sure to add you to our due date roster.

    My first is a boy and we are expecting another little dude. It's going to be quite the rambunctious household soon lol.

    @T.H.O.U.: Thank you! My husband and his sister were 1.5 years apart and my sister and I were 4 years apart so we wanted somewhere in the middle for our kiddos. Worked out perfectly, thankfully!

    @koalahugz: Welcome!
    Question for 2nd and 3rd timers re babymoons, my bday is end of June and I'll be 36 weeks... is it crazy to think of a quiet weekend away that late? Just somewhere drive-able, 2ish hours away. (It would also make me 2 hours from a hospital) I'll ask my OB of course, but I feel like maybe I'm unrealistic in how enjoyable it would be! Are people generally miserable, uncomfortable behemoths by then?

  25. pregnantbee

    grapefruit / 4717 posts

    @Umberto: Hmmm. I wasn't comfortable then. Was pushing it at 28w last time. But every woman and every pregnancy is different. At 36w for me, I felt like baby was out of room, my hips hurt, and I couldn't sleep very well. If there's any way to go sooner, I would.

    @pregnantbee: The realist in me thinks you're probably right!

  27. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

    @Umberto: I wouldn't be very comfortable but getting away is always nice. 2 hrs isn't far but is there a hospital where you are going just in case?

  28. Umberto

    grape / 75 posts

    @T.H.O.U.: Nah it's a national park area so the two closest hospitals are 2 hours in either direction! I think 30-32 weeks might be a safer bet, I still feel good now at 26w so hopefully that lasts another month or two! (Again, wishful thinking. Let me have my blissful ignorance :P)

  29. ShootingStar

    coconut / 8472 posts

    @Umberto: I wouldn't really want to be that far from a hospital at 36w. With my first pregnancy I was doing good until 32 weeks. Then we went on a day trip all around the white mountains of NH to see the foliage and all the time in the car plus tons of walking killed me. After that I was pretty miserable.

    @MrsBeluga: Aulani is amazing! We took LO last year and had the best time. Would love to go back. We've been in January before and was actually a nice time to go, hot enough to lie out all day but not too hot.

    @koalahugz: Welcome!

    @agold: We are going down the coast for 2 nights the first weekend in May. Leaving LO with my parents so plan on doing nothing but sit by the pool and read a book.

    @Umberto: I think it depends on what you plan on doing. I was doing a lot of sitting around at 36 weeks last time so if it was a low activity trip, maybe, but not sightseeing where I had to walk around etc.

    Back from vacation and back to reality! San Diego is so beautiful -- we had a great time. Lots of eating delicious food, checking out the sea lions and hanging out on the beach/sneaking into the Hotel Del pool area, haha. I'm definitely starting to slow down these days, though. We went on a hike (Torrey Pines State Reserve) on Sunday and I felt pretty good during it, but on Monday I was ready to just relax. We missed some epic flooding here in the Houston area on Monday, so that was lucky. Annnnd now back to work

    I like reading about everyone's travel plans, sounds like a lot of us still have some nice, relaxing trips to look forward to! I'll be going to the Outer Banks for a week in mid-May with my family. Unfortunately my H can't come because of work. I'll be about 27 weeks -- I'm looking forward to relaxing at the beach for a week, but the travel part of it...not so much. I'm flying into Richmond for my cousin's college graduation and then the next day we're taking the 3.5 hour drive to OBX, so that seems a little daunting!

    @Pirouette: I love the Berkshires! We went on a weekend trip camping there and saw an amazing concert at Tanglewood. My dad's side of the family is from Western Mass. -- it's beautiful up there!

    @koalahugz: welcome! my LO will be 3 in December and i love the idea of this age gap! but we're resisting potty training as long as we can. i have these irrational fears of once she's trained having to take her to all these public restrooms everywhere we go and it being a huge pain haha. Call me lazy but i loooove diapers

    @Umberto: I felt great until delivery with my 1st! that said, I already told my parents I didn't want to go away at 36 weeks this year, because I know every pregnancy is different, and I'm a little worried i might feel worse because of summer/swelling. so you might feel great but still not want to travel!

    @MrsSCB: I LOVE tanglewood! I'm totally bummed we'd have to go before the summer season starts, but at the same time, the prices triple for all these places once tanglewood starts up! so glad you had fun in SD! I've always wanted to go to the outer banks - that sounds wonderful!

    @Pirouette: Oh trust me, I'm having anxiety about public restrooms. We're going out tonight so I'll be bringing tons of wet wipes and hand sanitizer lol. I hear you about the whole diaper thing. I probably wouldn't have pushed it much either except our son had been tugging at his diaper a lot and he seemed genuinely uncomfortable. He's been doing pretty well so far though, fingers crossed that we don't regress!

    Failed my glucose by a couple points I have to go back Wednesday for the 3hr. Super bummed as I know I'm predisposed to GD because I'm hypoglycemic and insulin resistant. Hoping to pass the next one if I don't die first! I did NOT have a good experience with then 3 hr when they diagnosed my hypoglycemia a few years ago! I drove home with a blood sugar of 29!
