    @pregnantbee: Did you ask the medical supply companies how much the up-charge on the Freestyle would be with your insurance? Or if you have one of the insurances listed on this site, you can check here: https://acelleron.com/order/

    I got a Freestyle through insurance last time and paid the extra, and this time I got the Spectra S1 and paid the extra. Both using insurance, with different carriers. It was pretty easy. This time I did it through that link and it was SO simple.

    I decided on the spectra because I heard really good things about it, but it's HUGE. OMG, I was so spoiled by the size of my Freestyle. But I wanted a second pump so I can have one dedicated for work and for home, and the Spectra charge was only $65, vs like $150 for another Freestyle. If you want, I'll post a pic for comparison, they're both right next to me.

    @pregnantbee: @pwnstar: Thank you!

    @agold: I took the photo in front of a window in our apartment, though I did stand on a small stool to be a bit higher up And I loosely used this tutorial: http://www.whitehouseblackshutters.com/how-to-take-a-pregnancy-silhouette-photo-with-your-iphone/

    The things I did differently -- I didn't download the app mentioned, I just used the timer on my iPhone. And then I edited using Instagram. I didn't use a filter, but just manually adjust things in the edit tab. The big one is the Fade, which I turned way up. I didn't want to post it to IG, but if you turn on airplane mode and "post" it, IG isn't able to actually post it but it still gets saved in your photo album!

    @ShootingStar: OK, I took a look at the site, and while they have my insurance, they don't have my state. So, not an option. Maybe I'll try finding another similar site but based out West. I hesitate to get anything other than something in the Medela family since I know what I have already is compatible......argh.

    @MrsSCB: thanks for the tips! That's an amazing window to have in your apartment. I wonder if I can try something like that after hours at my office!

    @pregnantbee: No experience, but I've heard excellent things about the Spectra! I'm hoping its offered through my insurance!

    @pregnantbee: I've had the Purely Yours and I didn't know I didn't like it until I got the Medela PISA. If you're hoping for the freestyle just to have comparable parts I'm pretty sure the freestyle parts connecting to the pump are totally different than the PISA. If you're talking bottles then they will be compatible.

    Question for the 2nd+ timers - When will you guys pull out all the baby gear for around the house? I was responding on another August thread about how we used to have a changing table in the living room, and I realized that needs to go back there, along with get stocked with newborn stuff. (Right now it's sitting unused in our dining room since we potty trained DS). We also need to put the swing in the living room, put out the bouncy seats, etc. Last time I had that stuff out fairly early in preparation. But now with DS, I don't know that I want it out where he can mess with it, lol. Though I guess he's got to get used to it.

    @ShootingStar: Im waiting a bit mostly because we are tight on space and I dont want the stuff to get dirty. I have the swing sitting in our room and we need to clear the corner where it will go in the living rom. I figure as long as I have the space clean and the swing clean, it takes 2 seconds to bring it out to the living room once we are home.

    @T.H.O.U.: That's what I figure, too. Have everything clean and ready but don't put it out until it's necessary because I don't want to clog up my living room for weeks on end.

    @ShootingStar: I will wash up/clean all of our baby gear in the next two weeks or so and have the car seat base installed and ready at 37 weeks (even though I have no reason to expect an early baby - I just want to get a safe and secure install and figure this is one of those things you don't want to be doing on the way to the hospital!) and then will just put the other stuff out (having already cleaned it) when we get home.

    @coopsmama: I've slowly brought everything out. I just finished the last 2 items last night which included washing all linens to all the thing (bouncer, swing, pack and play (use the changing table part in living room) rock and play, Boppy pillow case and breast friend case.) I'll be 37 weeks Sunday. I'm all packed but I probably won't instal the seat until baby arrives because im still not sure how it's going to work with the 3yo in the back seat and clasping his seat belt.

    Eta I'm glad to have the things out now so the older kids get used to them and get all the excitement of new items out before baby comes home.

    I just called my insurance and apparently I have a $470 budget to order a new breast pump and submit receipts and they will reimburse us. Brand doesn't matter - and the $470 must be spent on one line item. (I can't spend $200 on a pump and then on a different order spend $270 on accessories or something.)

    I have no idea what to get!

    @ShootingStar: by waiting, you mean you don't want this to happen?

    @OldpuebloJenn: LOL, exactly.

    We have kind of a cavernous my big living room that I never bothered to buy enough furniture for. So space isn't an issue. I kinda just want to get stuff out of the guest room where it's living while I still can. But I've got ~5 weeks until c-section day, so that seems like a long time for stuff to be hanging out.

    I finally found a company that may allow me to pay to upgrade to a Medela Freestyle from a PISA. They said the upgrade fee is $195. Looks like I could outright buy it on Amazon for $281. Worth the upgrade fee?? The PISA "Starter Kit" would be free.

    @ShootingStar: Hmm. Probably not until baby is actually here? I don't want it getting in the way. I also have to figure out if I can clean the fabric of the bouncy seat and also how to clean the activity mat. That's really all the things we had.

    I was feeling anxious at my appt today and then ended up with very high bp. My midwife thinks it may be just nerves, but they ran a big panel of pre-eclampsia labs again and I'm going back for a non stress test for the baby tomorrow...

    @mossyslane: Ugh, I'm sorry. I hope it was just appointment stress and not pre-e. Hugs and keep us posted?

    @pregnantbee: Thank you! They just called and labs look good but I still am going in for the NST and blood pressure check again tomorrow since it jumped so high. Hopefully I'll be able to feel calm for that!

    @mossyslane: I had a NST earlier today. It's so great to be able to listen to the baby's heartbeat for a while--so soothing! Sending you lots of good vibes for tomorrow!

    @pregnantbee: @MrsSCB: It is very crazy--the plan is for Tuesday morning with a slight chance of getting pushed back to Wednesday if the floor is super crowded on Tuesday...I honestly feel pretty calm and good about it though--I have been feeling so off and dizzy that I'm glad to have a plan in place and glad that the baby is looking so good...

    I'm super excited that we recently received a Lillebaby carrier as a gift, but Amazon did not put anything in the box to indicate who sent it! I want to thank them because it's a very generous gift. There's not even a packing slip of any kind...what's up with that, Amazon? Like what would I do if I wanted to return it? I don't, but just seems weird that the box was completely empty except for the product.

  32. mossyslane

    cherry / 215 posts

    @pregnantbee: Thank you @MrsSCB: I just had that happen with a gift and it was so awkward because I assumed who it was from and that person hadn't sent it, etc. ... I wonder if you could find out from amazon somehow?

    Made it through vacation without having a baby! And, in what may be the greatest achievement of my life, I won first place in my family's beer tasting competition by smelling and visual clues alone (because of the celiac thing I couldn't even try a sip, the giant pregnant belly just made it more hilarious).

    I have had a few days when I have near constant Braxton hicks. It's wild to me that I was still walking 3 miles a few times a week at this point when I was pregnant with you daughter. I can't get up from the couch without a very uncomfortable Braxton hicks contraction now!

    We have an ultrasound on Tuesday that I'm looking forward to, to check size, position, fluids, etc.
    I have a couple more projects to finish up, and I am starting to think about my hospital bag. Will probably install the car seat bases in a couple weeks.

    @Silva: Congratulations both on not having a baby while away and on winning beer tasting with no actual tasting. That's so impressive! Good luck at your u/s! It's so exciting that we're so close!

    @mossyslane: I'm going to try Amazon first -- someone I know said Amazon would only give them a first name in a similar situation, but that would definitely help. My other thought is my mom might be able to figure it out. My sister says some of our relatives were recently asking my mom about my registry. Ready to get my Nancy Drew on! 😂

    @Silva: super impressed with the beer tasting performance! 🍻
