@CoffeeMom: congratulations on a healthy delivery and baby
@pwnstar: ouch, tell that baby to turn over and stay put
I was offline for a few days with out of town guests and my shower, and can't believe the babies are starting to come!! is this really happening?! tons of people are starting to ask when my last day at work will be, and I still have no idea at almost 34 weeks. has everyone else determined this yet?
@Pirouette: did you get a private room at Sinai last time, or are you planning to this time? I just looked at their price list, didn't realize you had to share or pay $$$$$ for privacy. lame. I have two friends who swore up and down that it was worth every penny, but they both happen to be trust fund babies so I don't take their money judgement seriously.

@LCTBQE: everyone keeps asking me when im going on leave too, and im still waiting to hear back from sinai to confirm the date. But it's still so early for you to know!
Re the private room, i'm not a trust fund baby that said, the private room was absolutely a priority for me so my husband could stay with me. I honestly don't know how i would have gotten by if he'd had to leave at night (then again i had a c section and couldn't get in and out of bed myself), not to mention i honestly dont think he could have left us... It's such a family bonding time! I was having a hard time coming to terms with paying so much for the room, but when the time came, it was a no brainer, especially since i didn't have to pay out of pocket for delivery.

@Pirouette: ooooh I didn't realize husbands get kicked out of the shared rooms, that changes things for sure. going to PM you!

@coopsmama: Ooo I hope I end up with a quick labor like your friend! That would be lovely!
@pregnantbee: I went a couple weeks ago, but not since the false labor sarted. I have another appt tomorrow. Last week at 36 weeks I was 1cm and 70% effaced so I'm hoping that at least tomorrow I will be more and my false labor will have at least been somewhat worth it. Better be darn it!
@mrsscb: It's contractions every 7 to 10 minutes that hurt! They finally end after several hours only to resume again after an hour break or so. Repeat. Lovely. It's my 3rd, so I'm used to my body doing this craziness but ugh I'm over it.
@AprilFool: I hope they let up or move along so you aren't dealing with that for awhile. So sorry.

@T.H.O.U.: I have everything left from last time, including the cooler and ice pack, battery pack (essential since I've taken it on the go before), bottles, extra flanges, membranes, etc. Haven't checked the bottles - didn't occur to me that I'd have to replace them. How do I know if I need to?

OMG, baby movement is killing me today. Tons of rolling movement right around my bikini line. Make sitting at my computer not so easy.

@pwnstar: breech here too at 36w2d! we have another position scan on Monday and then will discuss either a ECV or setting up a c-section. I'm a good candidate for an ECV with a high fluid level and placenta in the back but we're still considering. If something should go wrong, it would mean an emergency c-section where I will be put under
I'm pretty torn on what to do. I've been doing spinningbabies techniques and frozen peas but so far no dice.
Everything else looks good. BP still a bit elevated but no other symptoms of pre-e and baby is measuring 6lbs11oz already!
@CoffeeMom: congrats!!
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@pregnantbee: I dont think replacing anything is a "need" it was more a "want" for me. I didn't trust the plastic after being washed, dried (heated), boiled so many times. I know the only thing that you really "need" to replace is the membranes. Since I was replacing those I went ahead and replaced the membrane part as well because I again was concerned that even the most minor warping from heat drying or boiling could reduce suction power.

Had my 37 week appointment today... I'm 3 cm and 70% effaced. I'm bleeding a little from my check and lost a little bit of my plug. I'm curious to see if anything picks up or if false labor will just continue. Looks like we will induce next week if baby doesn't arrive before then. Eek! So close!!

@mrschickpea: @pwnstar: I had a massage today and my massage therapist worked solely on getting baby to move- a few tricks she did:
Peppermint oil at baby's head- its cooling (bonus for me!) and like the frozen peas, supposed to draw baby down. She also used myrrh oil and rubbed it in a clockwise fashion over my belly- supposed to relax the uterus and encourage baby to flip. I'm not usually an essential oil kinda gal, but I'll do whatever! She also worked on pressure points to help relax pelvic area, it felt good. baby flipped from right side to left, although still breech, but all that movement is encouraging! f/c for these babies to flip!

@OldpuebloJenn: I have peppermint oil! My baby moves from side to side and to transverse Just can't get. Him/her to stay head down lol. I figured that if its moving that much, it still has time to stop being stubborn and turn around!!

@dcw6411: Wow! That is so exciting. Sorry you are bleeding from the appointment. I think we've all had enough bleeding with these pregnancies!!
@OldpuebloJenn: That's exciting that your baby moved after the massage. Now you just need baby to move in the right direction!
@mrschickpea: That's crazy you can tell which way your baby is moving. I feel lots of movement but still can't even imagine the positions she is getting herself into.

Our daycare saga continues...a place I was on the waitlist for called to say they're starting a new infant class. I said we're definitely interested, but then they told me that to reserve our spot, we'd have to start paying tuition at the beginning of the school year. Which means we'd be paying for like 2.5 months that he won't even be there! Have you ever heard anything like that? I'm upset because I really just don't love the place we're currently enrolled, but I don't see how we could justify paying tuition when I won't even be working or making my full salary. Or any salary at all for some of it. Ugh.
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@MrsSCB: Ugh. That's a bit crazy. Most go the route of asking for a deposit to hold your spot, but they don't phrase it as "pay for months well before starting when your kid isn't here yet". Odd. So now what??
pomelo / 5257 posts
@pregnantbee: yeah, I'm happy to pay a deposit -- the crazy thing is, this place also requires a deposit of a full month! But that is applied to the last month of the year, so it's not paying for nothing like the rest would be. I think I'll just call back tomorrow and be honest and say we're happy to pay the deposit and we're really interested in him attending, but we just can't afford to pay for months of tuition when I'm not even getting paid for some of that time, and then ask if there are any other options. If not, we may have to just give the spot up and go back on the waitlist
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@MrsSCB: I really hope they listen to reason so that you don't have to get back on the list. This is so lame.
nectarine / 2591 posts
@MrsSCB: Wow that seems crazy. 2.5 months is a lot of money to save a space

@Silva: *Fx* crossed for you that baby stays put and doesn't roll posterior . . . ! Enjoy your massage!
@LCTBQE: I plan to work until the end . . . with only 12 weeks of leave (and I say that realizing that some people get much less than that), I would like to save as much as possible for after delivery. Although if I had to go out early on bed rest (or just to rest period) I doubt my office would subtract from my leave. I feel like the last week has really been a turning point in terms of energy and comfort level . . . At 35 weeks, I still feel remarkably good (as compared to my first pregnancy), but I am DONE by 7:30/8, which is just after my LO goes down for the night. So it's just one day at a time for me. And now with baby being breech, and the possibility of a c/s, I have no idea what the next couple of weeks will look like!
@mrschickpea: I'm sorry you're in the breech boat with me! I was already scheduled to go in weekly for u/s (with the Peri) and NST (with the OB) starting at 34 weeks, so I will know his position from week to week. It was such a surprise! Although after experiencing the gymnastics that likely flipped him from vertex to breech, I doubt that I would be unaware that he had flipped back to vertex, but never say never . . . ! I can feel him move from transverse to breech several times a day (at least he has for the last couple of days), which makes me wonder if he is trying to turn but has run out of room (due to size).
And I'm with you on the ECV . . . I really don't know how I feel about it, although my gut is to decline and schedule a section to avoid an emergency situation, but I don't know. I think I'm holding off on making that decision for at least another week, and I would really like my Peri's input on that. I have complete confidence in him, and his opinion would carry a lot of weight with me.
@OldpuebloJenn: My fingers are crossed for you too! And that's good to know about the techniques tried by the massage therapist. I usually oil my belly twice a day, but now I will massage it in a clockwise rotation! It can't hurt!
@MrsSCB: That is crazy--I have not heard of anything like this! My guess is that the center wants to secure enough money to cover the extra staff/supplies needed for the new class (and to make sure there are enough kiddos for a full school year) and are asking the class members' families to foot the bill. Which sucks. I don't think it hurts to ask about options/alternatives either. That said, if it was my center of choice, I would probably pay to hold a spot (although I wouldn't be happy about it, and I know that's easier said than done). I get that it's a business, but *augh.* I'm sorry that this has been so stressful.

@MrsSCB: Sorry to hear this. I have heard of friends talk about places that have asked for this, but they have been able to talk to them about waiving it. I think as long as you're willing to put an entire months deposit down, they should hold the spot for you!
apricot / 382 posts
@MrsSCB: Thinking of you today and hoping they are willing to work with you when you call. That has got to be super frustrating. I'm sorry.
pomelo / 5257 posts
@pregnantbee: @AprilFool: @pwnstar: @T.H.O.U.: @dcw6411: I just talked to the woman again this morning and the first thing she told me was that she gave me incorrect info yesterday. So the actual situation is that we don't have to start paying at the beginning of the school year, but we do start getting billed when he turns eight weeks old (which is the earliest they will take babies). I plan to be out for 12 weeks, so that would mean paying for about a month he won't be there. Definitely better than what she said yesterday, though still not ideal. I think we might do it, though. I would like to be able to bring him in for a couple hours a day during my last week of leave to gradually transition him to daycare. And then my husband pointed out that for the other three weeks, if I need or want to pop into work for whatever reason, or even run errands, I'll have the option to do that. Sort of like a verrrry expensive babysitter...
apricot / 382 posts
@MrsSCB: At least that's a smidge better! I'm sorry you still have to pay early at all though. Annoying.
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@MrsSCB: Well, that's at least a little better. I also think it's a good idea to bring him gradually to get him used to it. But it still sucks that they expect you to pay an entire month when he's not there FT.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@MrsSCB: If its the place you love thats really not too terrible. But I would still see if you could somehow do like a double month deposit or something and get that money back even on the back end or something.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@T.H.O.U.: Thanks for updating the list!!!! I always love looking at it.
Regarding the day care situation... I haven't ever heard about paying for months that you aren't attending. But if the daycare has someone that is able to attend right away and start paying, I guess it makes sense to take that person as opposed to hold open a spot for several months without pay. But then that sort of just makes it first come, first served and I don't know if that works either. What a tough thing to have to deal with!!!
I really like @T.H.O.U.: 's suggestion on a double deposit you can get back at the end. I hate the thought of losing money!

I had my regular OB check up today. So I've gained the most weight in the last week than I have for any other week in this pregnancy. Bummed. I hope the weight doesn't start piling on.
Yet, despite the weight gain, I'm measuring at 31 weeks as opposed to the 34 weeks that I'm really at. Has this happened with any of you? Doc just said maybe baby dropped. No chance on due date being wrong because this is an IVF pregnancy.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@agold: @dcw6411: Thanks! I updated it a bit more so its easier to see the babies born (does anyone mind using the blue + for boys and the red heart for girls)? I also took the year off since that wont be needed for a while!
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@agold: In the third tri babies just all grow at different rates!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@T.H.O.U.: Everything you do to the list always looks great! And yes.. babies just grow differently. Bummed if that means that the extra weight gain is going to my hips and not to baby. My sister's stomach always measured small and her baby measured behind so maybe its how girls in my family carry.
but if doc said maybe baby is dropping... does that mean baby is getting ready to come?? Doc said she can't make a prediction. But I want a prediction!
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
@agold: Babies tend to drop much earlier for first time moms. I wouldn't take that as a sign you're close. I mean, you COULD be, but it's quite unlikely statistically. I wouldn't be concerned.
@T.H.O.U.: The list looks great!
