Has anyone been dealing with reflux? I get heartburn when not pregnant but this is different. It's usually just at night around bedtime, and instead of pain like heartburn, it more feels like my food is desperately trying to come back up. Like I can feel it in my chest and back of my throat, and tonight it made me throw up Any suggestions? Does anyone find tums helpful?

@LCTBQE: YES exactly! Just blot it out from your memory and it never even happened hehe!
@MrsSCB: Oh yes, I definitely struggle with this while pregnant. So frustrating. I have no advice but sometimes just sitting/laying down until it goes away takes care of it so clearly haven't researched it one bit. Oh, and also peppermint tea sipped slowly seems to work but again no research behind that. Sorry that you threw up.

@coopsmama: thanks I'll try the tea! Sorry you deal with it, too. I'm sure it doesn't help that I've been out of town and eating like crap. I had pizza and Doritos for dinner I'm actually looking forward to getting home tomorrow night and eating something bland and healthy...

@MrsSCB: Im sorry, I had that previously but when I was further along and things were running out of room. It has already started. I'm trying to focus on larger meals for breakfast and lunch and then a small dinner and a healthy snack before bed. Eating too much at night is just rough. I also try to drink a majority of my liquids during the day and just a glass or two at night when I'm home.

@MrsSCB: I dealt with this during my first pregnancy but I was much further along . . . I had to (not eat too much too late and) sleep on a pillow incline just to feel like I wasn't drowning. It was such a weird and uncomfortable feeling. With this pregnancy, I feel like that almost every night after dinner for several hours. It's miserable. I feel like I'm going to be ill and I feel so full that I just can't get comfortable. It happens even with small amounts of food as well. I have started snacking/grazing to try to take the edge off . . . but it only works some of the time.

@mrschickpea: I'm so glad the visit went well! And yeah, it is weird that she is so fixated. I kind of take it back to my original theory about so many life events . . . people forget that it's actually happening to you, and that it's not about them or what they want/prefer. It's wildly frustrating. Because for me, even when I am rock solid about a decision I have made, I always end up feeling guilty for not being able to meet someone's *need*, if that makes sense. (which is really their fault and not mine, but, there it is nonethless)

@T.H.O.U.: @pwnstar: sorry you ladies deal with this, too, it's not pleasant! I think I need to start making better food choices. I also made a terrible decision after posting last night to take my prenatal like usual before bed because I was feeling better. BIG mistake. I forgot my stomach was empty, and I woke up an hour later with the worst stomach cramps that lasted about an hour and made me sick a few more times. It was crazy. I will never take that vitamin on an empty stomach again!

Is anyone feeling movement yet? I was by this time last pregnancy so I keep having to convince myself that all pregnancies are different and just because I'm not this time doesn't mean something is wrong!
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@coopsmama: movement?? OMG no. I don't think I felt movement til like 20 weeks last time. Anterior placenta!
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
@JoJoGirl: Yeah, that was me with my first! And then my second shocked me with daily movement starting around 13 weeks - it was consistent and patterned and I couldn't believe it. So I feel like that gave me false expectations for this time...

@coopsmama: I'm dying to feel movement! I couldn't go back to sleep this morning and wondered if the baby was kicking around in me and keeping me awake!

@agold: It's so fun when you finally do! So special. Definitely one of the best parts of pregnancy.

Any guesses on my baby's gender? My husband and I think the baby looks like a boy. ETA: This picture is a screen shot from the video we got at the 12 week ultrasound so its maybe too early to tell. We have the unsealed gender envelope sitting on the kitchen table but aren't opening it until next week!
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@coopsmama: Nope. No movement here yet. I didn't feel anything until 22-23w for my first. I don't think I had an anterior placenta either. Also didn't know what it would feel like, so I could have missed it.

Small update on the work front . . . I was *finally* able to tell my bosses, and the news was well-received. One in particular was very happy to know I was "just" pregnant, not leaving (I am sure it felt that way when I shut his door behind me, but man, word can spread fast)! I feel relieved, to say the least. Now it doesn't matter who finds out and when . . . *phew.*
pomelo / 5257 posts
@agold: I can't believe you're waiting so long to open it! Inquiring minds need to know You have a lot of patience. I'm terrible at reading ultrasounds so I have no idea...but I'm excited to find out what you're having when you open that envelope!
@pwnstar: glad telling your work went well! I'm so nervous to do that...I'm sure it'll feel good once it's over.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@agold: Its so hard that early to tell and honestly it looks like a bad angel. So yes, there looks to be something between the legs but it could be boy parts or girl parts or the umbilical cord.
@pwnstar: Thats great you got the news out to them!
@coopsmama: I"m feeling a few flutters but it seems high so maybe its just gas.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@MrsSCB: Thanks for your excitement. We will probably find out next week. I'll take the envelope to the bakery tomorrow or the next day and we'll do a little cake cutting with my immediate family.
@T.H.O.U.: Yep, I agree that it just might be too early. I know my husband is really thinking its a boy. I'll be so happy either way.
FYI: I'm watching a really old episode of "Birth Day" that I taped on TLC. Its an episode entirely on the placenta. I'm barfing in my mouth because the placenta is so gross.

@agold: From that angle it does look boy to me, too! Will be interesting to see how it turns out! Soooo exciting to find out so soon.

Just got an email saying the blood test I took with my NT scan was normal, whew!
pear / 1718 posts
@coopsmama: @T.H.O.U.: I have also felt a few flutters (mostly low on my left side) that I have chalked up to gas. I didn't feel anything until about 18.5/19 weeks last time, so I don't expect it to happen sooner this time. But that doesn't mean I don't hope it will!
@agold: Just to throw off the polls, I am going to say girl!
@MrsSCB: That's wonderful news! Yay!

@MrsSCB: I've started having that too. I had it a lot last pregnancy, and now this time I already feel like I'm running out of room and my stomach's getting squished. You can take tums, which help a bit. I also take these things, which work better than tums - http://www.alkaseltzer.com/as/as_hbrc.html.
pomelo / 5257 posts
@T.H.O.U.: @pwnstar: @JoJoGirl: Thank you, I feel very relieved!
@ShootingStar: Thanks, I'll look for those. I didn't even know Alka Seltzer made much else other than those tabs you drop into water, haha.

@pwnstar: Phew! I'm so relieved for you. Glad it went as well as it did! So much better not keeping such a huge secret anymore.

@OldpuebloJenn: Oooooh. How is their stuff? How does it run? May have to try them out. It's 80 here today and am dying in jeans outside. Sorry to all those in the negatives!

@MrsSCB: Great news about your blood results!

@agold: Northern California! It's about 80 today but will be more like 65 tomorrow.
ETA I'd ask and write more specifics but don't want to share where all can see.

@pregnantbee: this is the first time I've ordered- but online reviews are good and the return policy is minus the price of return shipping- and since I don't pay to have it shipped to me, it's like a wash.
