@pregnantbee: That's great news about the tooth!!

@mrschickpea: I also really want another carrier or 2. I loved, loved the Ergo and started using it around 3 mos. with rolled up blankets under him. Wasn't into trying the infant insert which everyone says is hot and hard to use. I had also tried the Moby wrap, which I really really didn't like. Hot and way too hard to use. I think a friend is sending me her old ring sling this time, my sister gave/lent me a K'tan, and I kind of want to try a Sakura Bloom.....I also wouldn't mind trying the Gemini Uh, so basically I want all the carriers. I just think I'm really going to need/want to wear her so much more as a tiny newborn especially when trying to wrangle a 4-yo.

@agold: Thanks! I just really really hope this is done now How are you doing/feeling?

@pregnantbee: Hi! I'm feeling great! Still sleepy and still bleeding. Bummer. Doctor says no travel and definitely no sex until some ultrasound where they look at the location of my placenta. Its supposed to take place at 19 weeks. Bummer. But otherwise, great! And shopping for baby girl's nursery and closet is in full swing. How are you feeling???

@ShootingStar: Do you have any problems with the Mesa being too heavy on its own?

  5. pregnantbee

    grapefruit / 4717 posts

@agold: Boo....sorry you're still bleeding, but yay for your sticky baby. I'm so happy for you, especially after all you've been through. Doing well over here. Still tired. It's definitely harder being pregnant and running after a 3.5 yo and working full-time outside the house. But all-in-all, I'm grateful for how things are going. My anatomy scan is next week, and I'm just hoping with all my might that baby's organs look good....and that she's STILL a girl THEN we will truly start more progress on clearing the room, painting, getting furniture, etc. I'm grateful that I've done this before since we do have almost all the big ticket items we need for baby, like stroller, bouncy seat, etc. As you may have seen from my list a page or 2 back, there's still more stuff we have to get or replace. But it's manageable.

@agold: It was heavy, but it was also all I knew. So it wasn't like I had something to compare it to. We also only used it about 4 months. DS started to hate the seat and cried all the time so we switched to convertibles. I hope this time we make it 6 months.

ETA: Also I didn't need to carry it too much except into daycare. It was way more important to me that it fit in the backseat.

@pregnantbee: Yup! We found out last night but aren't announcing on social media yet (we want to take a cute announcement picture when we go to Disney in 2 weeks).

We got a cake from the bakery and cut into it last night. DD was super excited. DS was excited to have cake.

@T.H.O.U.: YAY!! You already have a girl and boy, right? So exciting! I'm sure that will be a really cute announcement. I'm not sure we will ever announce on FB since we never did last time. If we do, it won't be until after the anatomy scan that hopefully brings only good news. The only reason I saw what changed on the list is that suddenly there was a 6/6 boy/girl tie

@MrsRcCar: cheering you on!!! Rooting so hard for things to go well for you please keep checking in!

@T.H.O.U.: yay!!!!! I've been anxiously awaiting your update! Congrats!

@agold: one of the main reasons we went vista over cruz was because of the bassinet, which lo slept in the first 4 months. Other than that, i think they are pretty similar?

@MrsSCB: i didn't get to design a nursery either, since we were renting and her room doubled as my husbands office. They dont need a fancy room

@pregnantbee: Yes, we have a boy and a girl. Guess I need to get ready to sell a bunch of boy clothes! I may make a lot for HB especially of the nicer stuff.

  16. agold

@ShootingStar: Regarding fitting in the back seat... so is it a smaller type car seat? I'm not sure if I will keep my mid-sized sedan, or move to an mid-size SUV, but being able to have my driver seat back to my desired leg length is important to me.

Also... didn't you take it out of the car and put it onto the stroller very often? That's what I'm worried about for the weight. But maybe I won't be doing it that often. I really don't even know!

  17. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@Pirouette: Thank you for telling me that! I know that the Cruz now offers a bassinet option that can be purchased separately. What are you going to do for a stroller when your new baby comes? Do you have the 2015 Vista that can become a legit double?

  18. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@T.H.O.U.: Congrats on having a girl!! If you already have a little girl and little boy, then how sweet for your little girl to have a new sister!

  19. ShootingStar

    coconut / 8472 posts

@agold: Yes, front to back it gave us the most room. Only the Chicco key fit was comparable, and DH didn't like the way that one looked.

For putting it into the stroller the weight doesn't matter hardly at all. I would just pull the stroller up close to the car and pick him up and pop him in. Could've weighed a lot more and not mattered.

@agold: we have 2014 i think? But lo doesnt sit in a stroller much these days, so we're not going to bother with the double. I want to get the ride on board for her. When she was little, we used the bassinet in the stroller the first few months, then switched to the infant insert with the regular stroller piece. She was only 5.5 lbs so the bassinet was the only option at first!

Anyone less fatigue come and go? I shouldn't complain, because last time I never got any relief from the fatigue and this time I've had some energy. But for the past week or so it seems like every other day I'm exhausted. Like, falling asleep at nap time (or random times), and ready for bed by 7:30.

oh my gosh, where to begin! this thread has grown by like 7 pages since I last checked in. I was under the weather last week which turned into a nasty cold over the weekend which then turned into a fucking migraine, which almost broke me in half. I have maybe had 4 before in my life, ever, and always took excedrine migraine. so this time I took tylenol and drank a can of coke and it finally did the trick. @pwnstar: definitely keeping your tip in my back pocket if I get more, they are utter misery.

and thank you to everyone who recommended Lucie's list, it will keep me busy. such a nerd but I love researching this stuff.

    1. maternal belly button info: this is all pretty fun to hear about; seems like no one really wants the turkey thermometer outie

    2. @T.H.O.U.: @mrskerch: YAYYYYYY!!!! congratulations on your girls, ladies!!! this is wonderful! and you're rounding out the pack here.
@mrskerch that sounds initially quite unnerving, but I'm really glad to hear you guys have an understanding of the test results and are feeling stable and good about everything

@MrsSCB: we have a nursery off our bedroom (like that's the purpose of the room as it was built into the brownstone) but it is tiiiiiiny. room for a crib but probably not for a changing table. I'm not doing a cutesy thing in there or taking down my wallpaper to make it look baby-ish. are you worried about all the plastic crap multiplying and taking over your apartment? that is literally the only thing I'm dreading, including the labor and zombie/sleepless conditions.

@Pirouette: your petite newborn sounds so, so sweet!
guys, this is such a rookie question, but is it very typical that petite people would have smaller babies and vice-versa? or is baby size more just pregnancy-related or random? My husband and I are both huge and I keep wondering if I'm growing an Irish Wolfhound in there

  32. pregnantbee

    grapefruit / 4717 posts

@LCTBQE: Yeah, we're chatters over here Sorry you've been sick, but I hope you're on the mend now. I don't think baby size at birth is necessarily related to mom and dad's size. My friend who is TINY had an over 8-lb baby. I have no idea where she hid him in there!

@LCTBQE: we were in a tiny apartment for the first two years of my daughter's life, and Maybe I'm a bitch who makes things super obvious....but it seemed like nobody bought us huge plastic toys. We wouldn't have had the space for them, anyway! My mom sometimes gets that kind of thing, but I just told her she could keep it at her house and make grandmas even more exciting!

@MrsRcCar: congratulations! saw your news on your other thread so happy for you. any idea of when your new DD is?

@agold: you inspired me to buy baby clothes I'm so sorry you're bleeding still--hope it goes away very soon. are you doing your anatomy scan at 19w, too?

@Pirouette: great tip about the bottles, thank you! also wondering, did you think the Uppababy Vista broke down quickly? we live in a 3rd-floor walk up

@MrsChickPea: I also looked quite a bit at carriers, and I thought this graph broke it down pretty well:
    http://www.babygearlab.com/Best-Baby-Carrier
the two I think might work for us that I don't find visually repulsive are the Gemini and the Ergo 360--both have a good front-facing-out option and come in inoffensive grey colors @pwnstar: I read some amazon reviews complaining that the Gemini cut into the baby's thighs and were uncomfortable for them, did you not have that experience with your daughter? I love how clean and simple it looks, and I think I read that it works well for tall people, too-- did you think so? (5'10" and 6'2" here)

@MrsBeluga: @coffeemom: @coopsmama: @glitter: will you ladies be finding out gender at your anatomy scans? don't mind me, I am an insatiable gender-discovery monster of a woman.

  36. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@LCTBQE: I'm sorry you have been sick my husband has been sick and now gave it to my daughter. I'm next!

to answer your question, not really. I'm petite (5'3 if I really stretch, and thin) and my husband is average. The doctors were very concerned when she started measuring so small because there was a chance it was a problem with the placenta, but the doctors did acknowledge it could be because I'm small so she was small. Apparently that's not extremely common though. Also, I was average size at birth, I was not a small baby at all. So I think I was an unusual circumstance, and I'm really hoping this boy is average! My brother is tall, and I'm short, so who knows?

I love the Vista, and it has held up super well on the city streets. However, it's not light, and the walk up situation could be tough. Is there somewhere downstairs you could store it and just pop off the bassinet or car seat to carry the baby upstairs? I mean, I guess it would be tough with any stroller, especially if the baby was asleep in it.

  37. LCTBQE

    nectarine / 2461 posts

@pregnantbee: !!! hoping for a totally average size, if I'm allowed to hope. what is that, like 7 pounds?

@Silva: that's a nice solution with grandma's house. I guess I'm more slack-jawed with horror at the large-scale gear that I see eating my friends and family's homes alive--high chairs, two strollers, carriers, 4 different apparatuses in which to stick the baby (rock n play, the bjorn thing that you put on the kitchen floor while you cook, the tiny prison with the netting on the sides?), all the ugly pillows, etc. do you just live with all that crap for a few months until they outgrow it and then in cycles new plastic things?

this is a very happy thing to complain about, I realize maybe it's time to get over my interior decorating/clean freak issues.

and speaking of huge ugly pillows, I took the plunge and got a white snoogle from Prime. so nice to sleep with my top leg propped up. are yall using one or breaking out your old one from last time?

@LCTBQE: It's crazy that we're at the point where so many of us can find out, right? I was just thinking that weeks 12-18 for me have flown! I can't believe my anatomy scan is a week from today.

7 or 8 lbs is average. I'm 5'2", DH is 5'7" (or 8 on a good day) and DS was 7 lbs 3 oz, 21".

@LCTBQE: Oh, yeah. You'll probably have to let some aesthetics go. It's sad. And also awesome? You can also figure out creative ways to hide stuff if you're more creative than I am -- not my strength.

Stuff multiplies like bunnies around my house. One cool thing to check out if you have hardwood floors like we do.....instead of a giant alphabet primary colored floor mat, we got one that has hardwood print on it so it kinda blends in. So much better for baby and also ME for sitting and playing on the floor.

@LCTBQE: we had the bjorn bouncer and that was it for places to put her. She never liked the swing. My approach has always been if you don't have it you don't know what you are missing!

We did make a little corner for her with a sheepskin, toys, and a homemade play gym thing- like a bar with toys that hang from it? But in such a small space she didn't really need to be contained that much- we were always nearby!
