I just returned from my check-up, and heartbeat and size are good. Phew.

ETA: no u/s, so this was just Doppler and tape measure. Baby was moving so much that it was hard to get her hearbeat for more than 3 seconds at a time. Haha

@Silva: I hope this all turns out to be nothing. Will be sending along good thoughts.

@JoJoGirl: ok i just read your update. I have no experience with this personally, but the advice you received seems right in line with what they told me when my lo was diagnosed with iugr. The risks were low birth weight and high risk of stillborn. The risk of stillborn was what led my doctor to recommend a c section, especially since it was my first and first time labors are not short typically. I had biweekly monitoring, which then turned into weekly toward the end (plus weekly ob appts) but i think they were overly aggressive with that. They told me the same thing about being rushed to the hospital if any of the scans/bpps didn't go well, and i was a wreck over it, but she made it to 39 weeks. Obviously she was small (thats what iugr means) but shes perfect. I know your little girl will be too!

Oh and I know you're worried about her being under 6 lbs, but my ob was adamant that there was no magic number. My 5.5 lb baby never saw the nicu and was healthy as can be. She latched immediately and ate like a champ. Theres def a difference between having a preemie and a term small baby, even if they are the same size.

@JoJoGirl: @Silva: I'm really sorry you both got worrying news
    @coopsmama: Congrats on your girl!

AFM, I can finally confirm we're having a girl too! Everything looks all good so far, though I'm starting to have some some BP issues (I'm not surprised given a ton of rellies on mum's side have high BP). So I'm just getting weekly checks with the midwife, it's fluctuating all over the place atm but not high enough for the OB want me on medication yet. I'm frustrated that this is happening so early in the pregnancy, but I guess at a certain point its out of my control. Anyone else with stupid BP?

@Umberto: Glad everything looks good! Hooray for a girl! Girls are catching up on this board now

Sorry no advice over wonky blood pressure. Maybe you could get a kit to do it at home?

@Umberto: congrats on another girl! I don't know much about BP. Is it high consistently or just up and down. Have they checked for protein in the urine?

@Umberto: I had really wonky bp with my first pregnancy--and ended up being induced around 38.5 weeks, but it all worked out just fine. This time it's been a bit more even--I've been doing some deep breathing before they check it because I think I was getting a bit of anxiety about what the reading was going to be which was affecting things...hope yours can even out.

Congrats on the news of your girl! I just found out that I am having a girl too:)

@pregnantbee: Yeah good thinking, I should ask that next time I see the OB.

@T.H.O.U.: I've given a urine sample but haven't heard anything back yet so I assume all good! No other symptoms like swelling or headaches.

@mossyslane: Yay for girls I'm glad it worked out fine for you! The OB and midwives think 'white coat' syndrome is probably making it worse than it is. It's hard not worry when you read about the possible complications, early inductions, pre-e, and then suddenly you're convinced the entire thing will be a disaster!

@Umberto: Yeah, try that. It will be a more accurate reading if done consistently at home. I always get nervous before appointments, and that can really affect your in-office reading.

Does anyone else feel the weeks are just flying by?

@coopsmama: Oh, thank you, you too!

@Umberto: Try not to worry if you can--that's their job--they will monitor you and take the right steps. And, it sounds silly but the "ujjayi breathing" that a co-worker taught me seems to be really helping--you can read more about it online if you think it might be helpful to you...

@pregnantbee: Thank you! She squealed at the ultrasound and then spent the afternoon looking through her old baby clothes.

@AprilFool: Yes--it does start to seem like that. Much faster than with my first. Though when I look back to the beginning of the pregnancy, it does feel like forever ago.

@pregnantbee: yup, my daughter was born in July, so I'm used to the judgement on my parenting. However, these comments bother me in a way that silly comments about my parenting don't.

Happy Easter to all those that celebrate! I'm excited about the Easter basket I'm putting together for my daughter- she's getting a kite, a paper fan, my little pony blind bags, a book and the world's smallest chocolate bunny!

What are you putting in your lo's basket?

@OldpuebloJenn: Happy easter. LO got a small chocolate bunny, a colouring book and some bunny slippers (that match the ones she gave me for my birthday). And in the egg hunt I put a necklace, bracelet and a hair clip in some surprise eggs.
