@AprilFool: On one hand I do feel like the weeks have flown by (especially weeks 12-now). On the other hand, I feel like I have soooo farrrr to goooo . . . ! Even though I am almost 20 weeks and definitely half way there.
@T.H.O.U.: My parents stayed with us this weekend, and they didn't ask us about names! I think I would have shared our front-runner if they had asked, but they didn't, so I didn't volunteer the name . . . I got some interesting feedback last time too, so I am in no hurry to share this time. It's not that I really care what other people think, but at the same time, it irritates me when people just can't refrain from adding their two cents (when it's not a completely positive response . . . the last thing I am going to do is poo poo someone's name choice, even if it's not my taste!). . . sort of like everything else with pregnancy/parenting.
@Umberto: @mossyslane: Congratulations on your baby girls!

@pwnstar: Yes, I had some not so nice comments on some of our names. Thankfully I just shared the giant list of like 30 names we have running right now, and the comments were on names we more than likely wouldn't use but still so hard to hear.

@T.H.O.U.: DH's family was meh on the first name and one person really loved the middle name. I think someone also made a slight insult/joke at DS's name. But IDGAF. The name is decided and we love it. Their opinions don't really matter.

We did a gender reveal for our families and close friends this weekend. They were all thrilled. Everyone asked about names and whether we do this or not, our answer will be "we're taking a shortlist to the hospital and will decide once she's here. We aren't interested in other people's opinions". I think some people think that's a little blunt but I really don't care!

@T.H.O.U.: I've shared our current front-runner with family and a few friends. It's Emilia. But now the family calls the baby Emilia like its set in stone. I don't know if its set in stone though. Also, one of husband's good friend's said the name sounds mexican. Nothing wrong with that, but its actually an italian spelling and I was thinking more of pretty blonde girl from GOT.
@AprilFool: Yes, weeks are FLYING by! I can't stand it. I just told husband that we only have 10 Saturdays left together before baby comes. (He works every other Saturday.) There's so much to do! But I also want to relax and have fun.
@ShootingStar: Have you shared your name here? I bet it feels so nice to have it set in stone. I'm really having such a hard time with girl names.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@agold: Emilia is very pretty! I dont think mexican either but its a great name that translates to other languages very well. Girl names are tough! I'm loving reading through Appellation Mountain today.
@AprilFool: I agree weeks are flying by. I'm looking at the calendar for April, May, and June and things are going to get booked up. I'm counting July out because I just want to be home and relax or go to the beach that month. In the next three months we have 3 trips (maybe 4 plus a work trip), 3 house projects and plenty of other activities around town we will need to keep up with. And DD's class will start up with birthday parties here soon in the spring!

@agold: I love that name! I'm sure whatever you choose will be lovely.
@T.H.O.U.: I feel like I've been living on Appellation Mountain lately. I just want baby girl to have a name! We call our babies by their names before they arrive and have had both previous kids named at the ultrasound so this one feels weird. Right now I think my front runner is Quinn Annalee.
coconut / 8472 posts
@agold: I think I have but I'll share again . We've decided on Lily Lucia. I mentioned that DH wanted a more Italian-sounding name this time (our son's name is Irish and I'm part Irish but he isn't) and that's part of why we chose Lucia. Plus it's a family name on my side. Someone in DH's family was like "that's not Italian." I was like um, what?
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@T.H.O.U.: Thanks, and yes, it does have a lot of different roots. Italian always comes up with latin roots.
@coopsmama: I love Annalee. It was within the top of my list for a while.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@ShootingStar: Lucia sounds very Italian to me. I think that's a lovely combination.

@agold: What a pretty name!
Sorry I've been MIA, everyone. The flu + sinus infection on top of that kicked my butt!
We don't celebrate Easter, and no family is nearby, so no name discussion. They all know we won't share until after baby is born. I'm not a fan of any criticism we might get, and I also want to be positive that it will be her name, and I feel like we have the right to change our minds until after her birth.
@coopsmama: I LOVE the name Quinn. Haven't heard Annalee as much, but it's really pretty.
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
@pregnantbee: Annalee is after some grandparents we have lost in the last year - Ann and Lee. I've been playing around with combinations trying to find my favorite!
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@coopsmama: OH! Instead of LeeAnn. Beautiful, and I love the sentiment behind it. Truly.
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
@pregnantbee: Yes! Using Annalee meant narrowing the first names down to one syllable, likely, but I think I prefer it to LeeAnn. It's really important to me that all of my kids have middle names with meaning so I'm happy to have found something I really like!

@agold: Love Emilia!
@coopsmama: what a perfect way to honor your family - love it!
we had to cancel Easter so no name talk over here. which is good because we've been way too crazy over here to discuss names anyway!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@Pirouette: Thank you! How or why did you have to cancel Easter? I hope you are all okay!
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@agold: LO has coxsackie - she's had 102-103 fever since last wednesday and it's highly contagious, so even if she felt up to it (she didn't!) we would have had to skip. she put her easter dress on to go to the grocery store though - it was the highlight of her weekend she can't eat anything, so we hid her easter basket and will give it to her next week probably (it's 90% candy free, but you know she'd go right for the candy!)
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@MrsKerch: Yay for gender reveal. Sounds like that was a lot of fun The beauty of it being your child is that you get to decide how and when to share the name.
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@Pirouette: I hope she finally feels better. Kid deserves a pony after the last 2 weeks. And you deserve a massage
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@pregnantbee: lol you read my mind - i've been researching mini getaways because I need some R&R like you wouldn't believe right now! LO deserves a lot for what she's been through - she's not getting a pony though are you finally all better???
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@Pirouette: Awwww. I hope you can treat yourself to something nice. Uh, maybe a My Little Pony then
Thanks for asking. I'm at maybe 80% better? Better enough to be at work today. Not that I wouldn't love a nap...Still coughing a lot. I assume that will be the last to go. But it's no fun coughing all night!
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@pregnantbee: the cough is the worst part...it takes FOREVER to go away but "yay" for being back at work!

@MrsKerch: aww the gender reveal must have been exciting! How did you do the actual reveal part? Cake? Balloons?
I forgot to update that my last appointment was actually not the anatomy/anomaly scan. That is scheduled for tomorrow! Also we have chosen our princess' name : Juliet Elizabeth

@T.H.O.U.: The good thing about being team green is no one asked about our names. I am so in love with our girl name and so sad that we might not get to use it.
@pwnstar: That is exactly how I felt at 20 weeks. It had gone so quick and still so far to go. A few weeks later it just feels like I blink and another week has gone by.
@pregnantbee: I hope you're feeling better!
@Pirouette: Your poor LO!
@Glitter: @ShootingStar: Lovely names
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@Glitter: Oh, I love that name. Beautiful Good luck at tomorrow's scan. Can't wait to hear about it.
@AprilFool: I was sad when we didn't get to use our girl name the first time, too. But then you'll get used to it if not. And thanks. A bit better but not yet 100%.
@pwnstar: Time is flying over here. Especially from 12w to now. It's just crazy. We're clearing out baby girl's room, and I've just started buying some decorations, etc. Still have to measure it to see what furniture will fit where. This is an exciting time!

@agold: @AprilFool: @pregnantbee: Thanks! Juliet was my maternal grandmother's name and Elizabeth was my husband's maternal grandmother's name. Both now deceased.

Our follow up scan in Wednesday afternoon. I'm feeling more calm after reading some reassuring studies. Best case scenario is the high risk obs just say "that's not bright bowel," which my doctor said happens about half the time when she sends someone over. In the absence of any other markers, I'd guess their next step would be to test me for infections and maybe (hopefully, I think) follow up with at least one more scan to ensure proper growth.
In other news, my husband is sanding the crib like mad and I've ordered the paint for it. I also have begun work on our crib sheets, and I think the glider will be delivered in early April.
The big project is painting our bedroom, where the nursery nook will be. We have to wait until it's a bit warmer so we can have the windows open, and we will plan on sleeping upstairs for a week or so to really let it air out. My husband has already done the time consuming trim, so we can probably get the walls done in two evenings between the two of us.
I also ordered what I think will be the coming home outfit- just the rainbow striped sleeper from gap. My mom knit a little purple hat (with a stem, like a blackberry) that would look sweet with it.
Those who have had summer babies- will they wear short sleeves at all? It doesn't get super hot here, likely only in the eighties, and it will start to cool off by the end of August. We live on a breezy hill, so it's usually quite cool in our house although we don't have a.c. I was thinking I'd just get a couple newborn sized onesies? I don't have any tiny sized hot weather stuff.
@Glitter: I love that name, so classic! Will you do a nickname? Jules is one of my favorite nicknames of all times. Juliet is gorgeous, too, of course!
@coopsmama: Quinn is a great name! One of my husband's favorites- we only ruled it out because I have some relatives with the last name Quinn and I thought it'd be weird. I really like the middle name too! I'm with you on meaningful middles- since our kids will have my husband's last name, we are doing names from my family for the middles. Last time it was my maternal grandfathers name, this time we will use either my paternal grandmother or paternal grandfathers name.

@Glitter: love her name!!
@Silva: so happy to hear you are feeling a bit better about it. I will keep everything crossed for your wed appt. And it sounds like everything is coming together in baby prep! I haven't had a summer baby, but am not planning on buying any short sleeves. But my baby will be born late August.
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@Silva: Will be sending good thoughts your way that it's nothing. Nice job on the baby prep! We had a summer baby first time around and the rule was always put them in one layer more than what we'd wear. And with A/C inside, he didn't wear shortsleeves too often. I think he ended up wearing them a little more often outside though.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@Silva: Glad to see you doing well and getting a lot accomplished! I think some short sleeve stuff may be nice, but if it cools down by september were you are you probably wont need much.
Our big consignment sale is next Thursday. I'm excited!
coconut / 8472 posts
@T.H.O.U.: What are you looking to buy at the consignment sale? Our big one is next Saturday. We have all the baby gear we need (unless I see a Halo Bassinest), but I'd love a play table or outdoor toys and baby girl clothes. I'm excited for the clothes selection, the boys' is always so pathetic.

@T.H.O.U.: @shootingstar: Where do you moms find out about these consignment sales?? I have no idea where to even start looking!
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@ShootingStar: Here is my list of things to look for. There is a good chance they wont have all of these:
Rock and Play
Crib/Changer
Swing
Activity Mat
Activity Table
Girl Summer Sandals 12-13
Girl Dress shoes size 12-13
Boy Shoes size 8
Boy summer clothes 2T
Girl Summer Dresses 5t or 5/6
Boppy Pillow
Boppy Lounger
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@MrsKerch: I would just type in google your city and kid or baby consignment sale. Just Between Friends is the name of the most common one, but ours is under a different name.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@ShootingStar: I agree, girls sections are always 2x what the boys sections are!
coconut / 8472 posts
@MrsKerch: I forget how I found it originally, but it gets posted at daycare, people post in local facebook groups I belong to, etc. My favorite one runs twice a year. I've been to a few of them but I have one I like a lot. Try this link to find one local to you, or just google consignment sales near me: http://consignmentmommies.com/#
coconut / 8472 posts
@T.H.O.U.: That's a good idea to have a list. I kind of have a mental idea what I want, but I should make a list anyways so DH knows what to look for too.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@ShootingStar: Hahaa no way I would take DH to something like this! I like free spending power and shopping time! I also consign so I get in a bit early at 5pm (prior to opening to the public). I usually dont check out until after 8! He would be miserable.!
