@Cole: Yay! So exciting that results are starting to come in. My appointment with the geneics counselor is Tuesday, so I assume my blood draw will be too.

@Mrs. Pickle: yay for no Zika!
@Cole: congratulations on your girl! I hope we all get the girls we want!

I found the baby's heartbeat with my doppler at home today. I took a video and sent it to my mom and MIL. I didn't have a doppler last time. Its pretty fun.

@cole: Yay!!!
@Mrs. Pickle: How far along are you? I'm definitely not a good candidate for the home Doppler, because if i couldn't find the HB immediately, I'd freak. Ha. But, I'm always jealous of people who have them.

Any of you ever have a weird ache (I'd say it's kind of like a small stabbing pain - but a little less dramatic) in your uterus? I've had it in the same spot off and on today. It's not something that feels wrong, just weird.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
@littlejoy: I'm 10w2d. It took me about 10 minutes to find the heartbeat and that was with knowing where the baby is positioned. I tried to find it two weeks ago with no luck.
I've had a weird ache and kind of crampy feeling today. I noticed after a while that it would start when my bladder was full. I guess it was just pressing on my uterus in a weird way.

@littlejoy: I had round ligament pain for the first time today after waking up from a nap! And hey, I got a nap!

Thanks everyone! I'm really excited. I can't wait to hear as everyone else finds out!
@littlejoy: is it maybe round ligament pain? It's just annoying and uncomfortable but usually doesn't last too long.
@Mrs. Pickle: Hurray for heartbeat! It's always reassuring when you find it. Of course the flip side is it's super anxiety producing when you can't do my husband very adamantly vetoed getting one!

@littlejoy: I've been feeling lots of growing pains recently. Feels more like my stomach muscles and ligaments than my actual uterus. Strangely I think baby is still really low, but I guess that will change soon.

I'm 12+3 and still so incredibly tired. I feel like I could just sleep all day long! It definitely doesn't help that I can't stomach coffee. I'm just so ready to feel normal- and the grumpy pessimist in me is saying it's going to be a really long time until that happens! Anyone else in that boat? Any hope for me?
pear / 1648 posts
@Cole: I'm right there with you! I really thought I'd have more energy back by this point but I literally can't keep my eyes open for parts of the day. 11am and 2pm seem to be the worst times for me but yesterday I had no energy all day. Hopefully 14 weeks is the magical end to all this...
pear / 1563 posts
@Cole: yup, still pretty tired although I'm behind you at 10+3. I has to get better, right?
@littlejoy: I think I've been getting this feeling on and off, plus a lot of round ligament pain lately too.
Had my NIPT draw today, informaseq. So now we wait. I read this testing doesn't report on neural tube defects, so will they order the quad screen as well, at 16 weeks? I'm not supposed to get an ultrasound until 20 weeks now so I'm curious how we'll know if there are any other risks, assuming the NIPT comes back low risk.
grapefruit / 4649 posts
@Revel: unfortunately it seems like they usually just have you wait until the anatomy scan to check for neural tube defects. I feel like that's the big downside to nipt.
I hope we all get some energy soon! I still have a box of Christmas stuff in my dining room!
pear / 1563 posts
@Cole: thanks, seems like that's the case. We have no elevated risk factors other than my age, but it just seems like a long time to wait in the event there is a serious issue.
My living room and the toy situation are out of control right now still from christmas. I need some energy!

I've been feeling some stretching happening! I almost think I've felt a couple little flutters occasionally. I think baby has been hanging out kinda low too, at least it was during the U/S a few weeks ago. I finally have my OB appt tomorrow and I'll (hopefully) hear the heartbeat finally!!

@pmerr: I've had a few moments where I wondered if I was feeling movement. I didn't feel ANYTHING until 16 weeks last pregnancy and I'm only 12 weeks now, so I'm probably imagining it. But who knows, right?
pomegranate / 3375 posts
@peachykeen: @pmerr: I think I've felt a few flutters too!! I checked my journal from my last pregnancy, and I felt them around 12-13 weeks too. But, nothing consistent until 17 weeks.
@Cole: Oh yes!! I have 2017 calendars (with pics of LO) for her grandparents just sitting on my desk. Ha. I need to mail them!!

I thought I felt something the other day but decided I was crazy!
@littlejoy: yup, I have calendars to send too!

@Cole: Hahahaha ... we can do this!!!! THIS WEEK!!! I also have a pair of 3-6 month baby pants to send to my friends who had a baby 3 months ago. I'm the worst.

@peachykeen: @littlejoy: Yes! Last time it was around 16 weeks I felt more movement (or at least regularly), but I know you can feel things sooner

Midwife appointment went well! Took forever to find the heartbeat but finally did and it was 160! Baby was apparently moving all over because she couldn't get a read for more than a few seconds at a time before she had to move and look for it again. At the ultrasound it was only in the 120's, which I know is fine, but I still feel better having it higher now. So relieved!
I have to do the one hour glucose screening early again since I've had GD twice now. Awesome. Though to be honest, an hour to sit and read without LO tugging on me? I'm not sure I'm actually going to complain.
Didn't love this midwife though. (You see different ones throughout so you can get to know them all.) Not very personable, and when I asked her if she thought I should see a dermatologist about this red spot under my eye, she said I should because it might be cancer, but it looks kinda like ringworm. Uh, wtf? Not actually worried because it was too weird to even be scary, but I guess I'll get some antifungal cream (ringworm is a fungus, not an actual worm) and call a dermatologist. 🙄

@Torchwood: I had a weird spot like that on my shoulder during my last pregnancy. It flared up because of increased blood flow ... I had to get it removed, but it was easy peasy, and left no scar. Hopefully it is just a little ringworm since it's so easy to treat at home ... what a nut to suggest cancer first!!! Ha.
Glad you got to hear a strong HB!

Hi ladies, I just wanted to say thanks to all of you when I had my loss earlier this month and that all of your ultrasounds look adorable. I wanted to pop in because I just had a positive test today! I'm trying to stay positive and not let nerves get to me, but after 2 years of infertility (with no +'s) and then back-to-back positives, it's a bit surreal. Praying for a sticky baby this time and I just wanted to let you all know! I'll be joining the October 2017 board whenever its up! Good luck again with your pregnancies!

So we got our NIPT results back and everything came back good... and it's another GIRL! DH and I cried when we found out. And apparently we're also having the nuchal translucency ultrasound at MFM this Friday because it can apparently give indication whether I may develop pre-eclampsia again. So I guess we get to see baby again on Friday
I'm split on feeling glad we are being cautious and wondering whether this is over-cautious (and expensive!)
apricot / 491 posts
@coleycam: Yay! Congratulations!
@peachykeen: Exciting! I should ask about that at my OB appt today. I never heard there was anything that could see if you are at risk for developing it. I had it last time!

Update- Put antifungal cream under my eye, and barely 12 hours later it's almost 100% better. So either they need to start researching the magical anti-cancer properties of antifungals, or it was ringworm. 🙄
Should have my nipt blood draw today! I'm nervous because I don't think insurance will cover it and if we can't find a decent price DH is going to be upset. But we can afford quite a bit and I really think with our history it's worth it. I just don't want a fight. But we're doing date night tonight so hopefully we can just enjoy it either way! We need a good night out!

@pmerr: It apparently has to do with placental blood flow and is measured at the same time as the nuchal test (11-13 weeks). They say it can predict up to 90% of early onset, severe pre-eclampsia. I don't think my pre-e was full-blown until 36 weeks, but I guess it can't hurt to check.
Two of my OBs recommended the screening earlier in my pregnancy, but then I think they dropped the ball to schedule it (I'm 12w5d today) so I'm not sure whether it's that important or not. I brought it up at my appointment today so I'm guessing they wouldn't have done it otherwise.

@peachykeen: Yeah, I never had protein in my urine until 38 weeks, which is when I was induced.
pear / 1648 posts
@Torchwood: That's awesome that it is clearing up so quickly! We are really lucky that our OB's office has a contracted price with the Harmony test for only $130 out-of-pocket. I hope you can get your insurance to cover it - it's so expensive!

@peachykeen: Congrats!! I'm irrationality stressed that two have come back girls already. Y'all are using up our quota of girls!
pomelo / 5607 posts
@peachykeen: Yeah, last time they had a deal with one of the companies so it was only $20. I think the test was new so they were getting the word out about it. Hopefully they have something similar (though likely not *that* cheap!) this time.
