Hi ladies! I saw a Groupon for a doppler for $54.99 today. I figured I would share the info in case any of you were interested

@mrs. 64: We're staying in tonight. I've got some ribs in the slow cooker and we are just gonna catch up on some tv show episodes later. Had a couple options to go out but didn't really feel like it.

So my husband wants to tell his family tomorrow on new years day (we're having a get-together). I'm a little worried about announcing so soon, but DH is really wanting to.

@pui: oh man. You have to do what you'd be comfortable with including if a loss happened (sorry don't want to scare you but I've faced this reality twice now). We ended up telling SIL (nice one) tonight and it went well and it was supportive to talk. I also was more comfortable now that we've seen growth and a heartbeat.

@pui: I agree with THOU, if you're OK with them knowing about a potential loss, then its OK to tell now. We're telling our parents this weekend, but didn't want to tell them sooner because we hadn't seen the heartbeat.

Ugh, I had a hard time eating dinner last night. We were out with friends at a good restaurant, and I let a bunch of yummy fries go to waste Luckily I was able walk to the bathroom for a breather and felt better in time for dessert.

    bananas / 9899 posts

@Mrs.Someone: I think I'd feel a touch more confident if I had seen the heartbeat already... My ultrasound is going to be scheduled between the 4th and the 11th. I hope it's sooner rather than later!

  7. Mrs.Someone

    pomelo / 5228 posts

@pui: Its a tough decision. Be honest with him if you aren't comfortable sharing yet though.

  8. pui

    bananas / 9899 posts

@Mrs.Someone: It is tough because want to tell them... It just worries me a little. And I've already told my parents only because they knew we were supposed to start treatment in January and I didn't want to be forced to lie to them when they checked up on me. DH wants his parents to be in the loop too.

  9. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@pui: honestly it isn't that long until your appointment. The other way to approach it would be to tell them but tell him that he would have to handle talking to them if there was an issue.

  10. Mrs.Someone

    pomelo / 5228 posts

@pui: I agree with being even with parents. I imagine you would want his to know if anything went wrong, right? So enjoy the happiness and hope for the best

We had a pretty low key night around here. Made sure to toast 2014 with sparkling cider though!

    @pui: What did you decide?

    @Mrs.Someone: yay! Wonderful news!!!

I did absolutely nothing for NYE. I guess that's what life is like with a baby. Oh well. Went to bed at 10 and woke up and 12 to fireworks then back to sleep.

I woke up feeling like crap this morning. Actually threw up for the first time. Ugh. I hope this isn't the beginning of morning sickness getting worse for me. Hope everyone is doing well!

  13. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@mrskc: aw man! I actually stayed up last night and woke up at 7 but then took a 3 hour nap and then sat on the couch doing nothing while D took a 4 hour nap. It's been a nice quiet day although DH got an early spring cleaning bug and was working all day.

@T.H.O.U.: I had a super lazy day too. I felt like crap so I lounged on the couch most of the day and took a nap. Thank goodness for DH for watching A most of the day.

    Thanks ladies!

I too was out cold a bit early last night, but I woke up just in time to see fireworks on TV. And I now have a cold Because I'm on Lovenox, I'm pretty sure there is nothing I can take. I may call the doctor tomorrow if I'm still miserable.

We did end up telling BIL/SIL over NYE. They didn't know about our loss history but they were very understanding.

@mrs. 64: So in the end we decided to tell them. I'm still a bit nervous about it but they're all very happy and at least we'll have a net to fall in to if the worst happens.

@pui: Good! Hopefully they were excited for you guys. We need to tell my IL's soon but I don't know how to go about it. They live close so I would maybe rather tell them in person.

@T.H.O.U.: We actually set everyone up for a "group picture" but took a video instead and announced while everyone was posing. It turned out funny because everyone assumed my DH was just making a joke at first. lol!

My 1st appointment on Monday night went great! We got to see our little jelly bean on the ultrasound and they even let us take a video of the heartbeat with our phone. I feel so much better now having seen that there really is a baby in there and everything appears healthy.

My dating was exact so my due date is still 8/16! 12 week appt is on January 28th!

Wishing everyone a very happy and healthy 2014!

can you tell me what your morning sickness feels like? i still refuse to validate my sickness as a pregnancy symptom until i get confirmation that there is a baby in there, bad attitude, i know.

@T.H.O.U.: Yesterday I had a big-ish lunch and was so sick I didn't eat anything the rest of the day!

    @T.H.O.U.: LOL yup!

@chibee: for me it feels like wanting to throw up. Then of course for many it progresses to actually throwing up! My m/s never got that bad with M. FX it's the same with this one bc I hate throwing up.

  31. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@chibee: Aww girl I totally understand. This is how I was last time and after we had the ultrasound, I came home and was like well yea, I guess I am bloated and have sore boobs I just never acknowledged it.

    I don't think I have morning sickness so I can't help. But I have the awkward hunger/bloat/heartburn/fullness.

  32. chibee

    pear / 1974 posts

@locavore_mama: i haven't thrown up yet but i'm consistently thinking about it - like i feel like i'd feel better if i threw up but can't.
@T.H.O.U.: i'm just really nervous for my appointment, i feel like this pregnancy is different from the last one, i never was really sick, but my numbers were also pretty high last time too so i have no idea what to think. right now i'm just trying to get through every day until i have confirmation - i feel like i'll be able to manage my sickness better afterwards.

  33. LBee

    pomegranate / 3895 posts

@chibee: MS for me started as just waves of nausea randomly (ETA - actually not randomly, it was at 11 AM and 3 PM everyday, super weird). Then it progressed into constantly feeling like I was going to throw-up / actually throwing-up. It was like the worst hangover you have ever experienced - no desire to even drink water. I would bounce back after getting sick, but every hour (like on cue) I would be back struggling with nausea. The nausea was a little different though and my stomach actually felt sour - something I hadn't felt since I was younger.

I don't know if that helps at all. I think everyone has a different experience. I figured that after 4+ days of not holding food down the chances of it being a bug were slim to none. When push comes to shove, as long as you are keeping food down and not losing weight and/or indicating dehydration, just try to do what works and stay healthy.

So, I'm normally a great eater.. with tendencies to want to lick things off my plate when it's that good. But lately, I will want to stop eating in the middle of a meal bc it suddenly no longer tastes that good anymore. Is that a symptom of pregnancy? Because other than that and spotting, I feel totally fine and feel like I have zero symtoms... no sore breasts, no mood swings, no nausea.. I keep telling myself it's because I'm still pretty early (5w6d) but it makes me nervous. Thoughts?

  35. JennyPenny

    nectarine / 2460 posts

@chibee: That is exactly how I felt. I did end up throwing up twice, at exactly 8w and again at 9w. But that's it. Dr says there's a healthy little bean in there though, so I think what you're experiencing is a real symptom and a sign that all is well

  36. mrs. 64

    nectarine / 2936 posts

@msmug: I have noticed that I haven't finished several meals, but more that I seem to get fuller faster than it no longer tastes good.

@chibee: What you have sounds like morning sickness to me. All I've had is maybe 6 or so brief spells of queasiness, all when I've been overly hungry. It is always better when I eat something. It's still early for me so I don't know if things will get worse or not.

  37. pui

    bananas / 9899 posts

@msmug: @mrs. 64: Yeah I seem to get full faster than usual. A plate of food I used to have no trouble finishing is now too much for me.

  38. mrs. 64

    nectarine / 2936 posts

Is anyone freaking out about food? I realized I have eaten deli turkey twice without the slightest thought about it. Then I started panicking about the white cheese on my tacos at the Mexican restaurant. Does anyone know if that is safe? What about gorgonzola on a pizza that was cooked? I haven't had any alcohol and have had very little caffeine, but I seem to be messing up on the food front. How strict are you being with foods on the "no list"?

  39. pui

    bananas / 9899 posts

@mrs. 64: Processed soft cheeses are OK. Also melted/hot cheese is likely fine. I've just been avoiding cold meats, even though I love them and they were my go-to for lunch for months... My SIL who is 11 weeks has been eating cold meats in moderation.

  40. JennyPenny

    nectarine / 2460 posts

@mrs. 64: I'm not being super strict...I think I've had Jimmy Johns 2 or 3 times since finding out. And I read that all the cheeses are fine as long as they're pasteurized, which 99% of cheeses in the US are. I figure, if I never got sick from a place before and I trust it, it will be fine in moderation. But I'm not going to try any new places probably...
