@beckysue: seriously - this is not fun! Right now i'm torn between feeling great because i finally feel like i have energy and can eat but then i'm like omg... i've lost morning sickness. Is this normal to have symptoms come and go? I'm now searching for any sign of nausea. I have completely gone off the deep end.
pomegranate / 3895 posts
@chibee: My nausea definitely came and went in the first few days. It's completely normal.

Yeah the nausea definitely comes and goes for me too, so I wouldn't worry!!
I totally know what you mean though. Even though being sick sucks, I'm kinda happy to be sick because it is a reminder that I really am pregnant!

Good afternoon ladies! I'm happy to report that our first appointment went great! We had an ultrasound that showed a healthy heart rate of 190 and looks like we're right on track for our Aug 2 due date It feels like such a relief to see everything going as it should...
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@JennyPenny: Yea! That is a really high heart rate but then it made sense when I saw you are already 9 weeks!

@chibee - mine comes and goes too! don't stress yourself out over feeling better. Take advantage of the few hours to eat something other than crackers!
@jennypenny - so glad to hear your appt went well!

Gah - This is such a mental game. Now that I know I'm officially "still pregnant", I am suddenly stuck with lots of symptoms like extreme hunger. I didn't eat much Saturday or Sunday because of the stress and a migraine but still, this is crazy!

@pui: Yay for great betas!!!
@T.H.O.U.: so glad baby is hanging in there and there's a strong heartbeat.
@JennyPenny: yay! So happy for you!
I'm out of town so it's harder to reply on my phone but I've been keeping up on this thread. My symptoms have come and gone too. But after I saw the heartbeat last Friday, I've been so much more relaxed about it all. I'm just thankful that my morning sickness isn't nearly as bad as it was with DS. I just get slight nausea if I don't eat. It's crazy how different this pregnancy is already.
My next appt is jan 17 for just a 10 week appt. I'm glad doc isnt making me wait too long before seeing him again. And my OB's office offers a 8-10 week ultrasound for $20 that I'm considering getting done. They also do a 12-15 week one for $25 so I may do that instead. I can't wait until I can get to a point where I can check the heartbeat myself with my home Doppler. That always reassured me when I was pregnant with DS. Anyone else have or getting a Doppler?

Got my third betas back today and they were 4818 with a doubling time of 41 hours! Yay! The RE said they wanted to do an ultrasound in 2 weeks before releasing me to the OB but I have my first appointment (including ultrasound) with the OB in 2 weeks 1 day so I will probably just stick with that. I wish they were more spread out though so I could get an extra peek at baby.
@pui: Glad your numbers looked good!
@Aandmklover: Oh no! Hope DS is feeling better.

@mrskc: I've been thinking about getting a home doppler but haven't decided yet. I know you usually can't find the heartbeat till about 10 weeks and I feel like once I can feel movement around 20 weeks I won't have to stress anymore. But that time in between is where we lost our last one so its definitely where I would need the most reassurance between appts this time. Did you find that it made you feel better when you used it with DS or did it stress you out if you couldn't find the heartbeat on certain days?

@mrskc: @LovelyPlum: @Kate6214: @msmug: Thanks guys!
@mrskc: I considered buying or renting one but I'm not sure if it would help or hurt my anxiety.

@kodybear: @mrs. 64: thank you!! DS was his normal happy self today but had a very swollen and bruised eye. I feel like such a bad parent when I take him in public. I just know people are judging.
On another note, My appointment went great today. I love the new doctor and we had a dating ultrasound too! I was only one day shy of what the baby is measuring. I'll still keep the Aug 13 due date because it's my dad's birthday and easy to remember. We have our first real appointment at 12 weeks (Jan 27) for another ultrasound, pap and blood work! I've never had a 12 week ultrasound so it should be fun.
@mrskc: i have such a hard time spending money on something like the Doppler. I would love to hear the heartbeat daily but I just can justify it. If we had an abundance if money I'd get one in a second.
pear / 1616 posts
@mrskc: I'm guessing girl for u since ur pregnancy is so diff than ur first! Mine has been pretty similar to the first. A little nausea but that's about it. I have a Doppler from my first pregnancy. I used it abt once a week for my first. I'll prob use it for this one but prob not as much.
@mrs. 64: yay for great numbers!!
@xInfinity: I think there was only one time I had some trouble finding the heartbeat and I just waited an hour and tried again. I think if I couldn't find it after multiple times id get stressed but luckily that never happened.
bananas / 9357 posts
@xInfinity: I used it about once a week starting when I was about 12 weeks. I never had an issue finding the heartbeat and it was so neat being able to hear it! DH would get involved too and usually be the one to find the HB. It was fun. I would watch a you filibeg video on how to find it if you decide to get one.
@kodybear: I'm thinking girl too! I think this time I want to record the heartbeat one of the times I use it. I think that would be neat to listen back on.

I am way too scared to try a doppler. I am hoping I can continue these every other week scans until I'm out of the first tri and then I will be close to feeling kicks.

Today I had a really quick doctor appointment... basically just to refer me to a midwife. All the dr did was ask me again if I was sure I was pregnant (which is a bit scary -- I said, "well, I took three tests" and he agreed I probably was), asking when my LMP was, and then weighed me/took my blood pressure. The midwives will contact me when I'm 8-10 weeks to make my first real appointment, so I'll just be waiting for that for the next few weeks. I still don't have many symptoms-- just sore breasts still.

@ottilie: Good! I hope you get your first appointment scheduled soon.

What is everyone doing for booze-free new years eve!? We will probably go out to dinner and then maybe to a movie, although there aren't any movies that I'm dying to see at the moment. Has anyone seen anything good lately? I'm also considering getting some sparkling cider because 2014 is a year that needs toasting for sure! Maybe I will use ginger ale though since we have that on hand and it is bubbly.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@mrs. 64: Good question! I think we are going to dinner with my SIL and her family and then we will head home. Usually we have a night of drinking with them but I am going to skip because I'm not sure I want to tell them yet. Costco had some great sparkling apple cider that I thought about getting.

And the good news... There's a heartbeat! 150bpm. It all measured on schedule too! A huge relief Now my next appointment is 1/10 with the OB practice.

@Mrs.Someone: Yea Yea Yea! Where you measuring according to your dates?
pomelo / 5228 posts
@T.H.O.U.: So at first they said it may be a couple days behind (the screen said 6w6d), but both the tech and the doctor later said its right on schedule. I think I ovulated one day late (based on LMP), so I'm not worried about it.

@T.H.O.U.: It doesn't help at all with the old wives tale though Oh well!
