@beckysue: Welcome to the freak out club I had a spotting/bleeding scare yesterday and everything was fine.

Hi ladies! Checking in from Argentine Patagonia as we have a spot of wifi at our hotel tonight and I need you guys for advice again! Morning sickness has hit hard (I lost it on the flight from Buenos Aires to the far south on Monday --first time using an "airsickness bag"!--and have avoided vomiting since but have felt on the verge more or less 24/7 since Monday). I'm wearing sea bands (which do seem to help--hence the not vomiting since Monday--when I take them off it gets worse!) but still feel just awful. It's a combo of nausea, indigestion, heartburn and gas that is so painful that I just want to lay in the fetal position. Not good for a trip that is supposed to be about trekking. I also must have lost weight at this point because the idea of food (any food - even crackers and bread) turns my stomach. Even water makes me green so I'm pretty sure I'm dehydrated too.
So my question is: any suggestions? Is it better just to throw up? Does that make you feel better than doing everything (including not eating and drinking) to avoid it?
Any other remedies I should try? I have Preggie Pops and they do seem to help the nausea temporarily for the 5 min they last but they leave my stomach more sour and painful than before.
I also brought ginger tea bags but so far that hasn't helped much either.
I'm pretty limited in what I'll be able to find in the supermercado down here but I'm desperate! The sour/painful stomach alone would do me in but add the nausea and I'm done for.
My doc before I left for this trip said no to Pepto but that Tums should be OK. I usually have such a solid stomach that I never use either. But in desperation I tried Tums yesterday and it didn't do a thing for my stomach. I didn't realize pregnancy would be so rough so early!!
Any folk remedies I don't know about?

@stratosphere: tums are good but apple juice and papaya enzyme pills help much more for me.
I've heard pear juice is very helpful for upset stomachs and hydrating (try to get 100%). A mercado should have that.
Hope you are feeling better soon!

@T.H.O.U.: thanks so much for these suggestions! I can definitely find apple juice and will look for pear.

@stratosphere: sorry you're feeling so sick! I had really bad morning sickness with my first. I know it's hard, but I found small meals throughout the day really helped. Keeping something in my stomach seemed to help the nausea.

@stratosphere: Hope you are feeling better today! The main thing that has somewhat worked for me (no home remedy really helped) has been keeping snacks on hand constantly (I had to change from crackers - I got super sick of them - but a lot of people swear by eating crackers before bed and right before you get up to ward off MS), sucking on lemons (random I know), B6 (there are these drinks at my local grocery store - Sparkling Ice - that have B6 in them and they help sooo much), hot baths (remember that bath water can't be above 100 degrees), and ice chips. Another thing I read on HelloBee that I now swear by is drinking and eating separately -- I don't let myself have anything to drink until 30 minutes after I've eaten.
I'm glad to hear the bands are helping for you - they didn't do much for me, unfortunately! Remember to force yourself to eat - I'm one of those freaks that getting sick would help me feel better, but it was usually only for an hour or so and then I would be getting sick again. Similar to you, I can't even think of the last time I got stomach sick!
With that said, my doctor ultimately prescribed me Zofran yesterday. I was showing indicators of dehydration and she was concerned about my weight loss. I was getting to the point where I couldn't even function at work anymore between throwing up and shaking constantly (from the dehydration).
@MRSKC: Thinking about you today!!!

Whew, with all of the holiday stuff and last minute work projects, I've been MIA!
@T.H.O.U.: It went well! Just the basic exam stuff I think and lots of prodding my arm for blood. She said my ultrasound from earlier in the week looked normal and everything was on track for a (now updated) due date of August 14th.
And I'm still really excited about how many people keep joining this board

As far as symptoms go, the nausea has set in pretty good, and along with it, my asthma has been terrible. They seem related - the tighter my chest is, the sicker I feel. I use my rescue inhaler and I feel immediate relief from nausea. So weird!
I have an appointment today with my regular doctor to talk about options for better controlling my asthma. Hopefully nothing too scary med-wise, but I'll do what I need to do.

@sharpie: I have asthma too and use Advair twice a day to try to keep things in check. I notice that some acidic foods like tomato sauce will aggrevate my asthma and therefore make me feel more nausous or have heartburn. Hopefully once you get your breathing on track you will have some relief from the stomach woes as well.
It sounds like a lot of us are in the same sickness boat. I bought some ginger Altoids on Amazon (all the reviews talk about how wonderful they are for settling an upset or pregnancy stomach) and they definitely seem to help. They are a lot easier for me to get down than a cup of ginger tea as well.

Oh, the emotions... I'm getting teary WAY too easily lately. Anyone else?
pomegranate / 3604 posts
@Mrs.Someone: not teary but I definitely do not want to be alone ... I don't live with my SO (yet) so the nights he's not here are rough. Boo
So far I have little to no morning sickness....I feel bad for saying it with all you ladies so ill. I'm just super super exhausted all the time. I literally put LO to bed at 7 and am crawling right into bed by 7:45 most nights.
Ps:
Also could you change my appointment from 1/7 to 1/9? Mixed up my dates.

Sorry to everyone who is battling morning sickness. I'm sure mine is right around the corner. The advantage/disadvantage of being one of the last mamas of the month is that I get to learn what's coming next from you guys!
@kodybear: I scheduled my first appointment for 1/14. So excited! Will you add it to the list?

@Mrs.Someone: I have been more emotional lately too. I got teary when we received a Land of Nod catalog with a cute baby on the front. I'm sure it will get much worse!
@msmug: Congrats and welcome! Our due dates are very close!

@Mrs.Someone I couldn't agree more. Lately I cry every time I watch the news and there is a heartwarming or tragic story. Normally I can control myself.

Hi ladies! I just got back from my OB appt. I was such a mess. Cried in front of doc and told him how worried I was with my low progesterone and told him how no one ever called me back. It was right at 5 pm and he called over to ultrasound and asked if the tech could work late and do an u/s on me. So I got an ultrasound and saw and heard a heartbeat!!!! I couldn't believe it. I cried I was so happy. I thought for sure I had lost the baby. 131 bpm and I measured 6w6d so my due date is Aug 16.
