Well my progesterone came back "fantastic" at 22. Unfortunately my insurance will only cover the blood tests when they are sent out to a separate lab and the lab forgot to do the betas. Grrr. Now I am supposed to hear about the betas on Thursday. All this waiting is tough. Keep sticking baby!

@Reese: I'm so new to the beta game, but someone here recommended http://www.betabase.info/index.php and I've found it encouraging.

@pui: Welcome! I'm having a hard time not telling everyone! I think we will tell my mom and sister tonight but no one else. I saw all my best friends last night and did my best to play it cool.

@mrs. 64: Thanks for sharing that site! Man my HCG of 7000 seems pretty high based on these numbers.

@Reese: as long as its doubling every 48-72 hours then its good!! hcg levels range so much from person to person that i wouldn't look into the actual value itself but just that its doubling.

@pui: welcome and congrats!! so happy for you!!

I got my progesterone supplements last night and I've started taking them. I did lots of googling and found others who had progesterone under 10 and went on to have healthy babies, so that made me feel better. I found an article too that said progesterone under 5 usually means not a viable pregnancy. So at least it's above 5. I'm remaining hopeful that everything will be ok.

    @Reese: great update!!!

@pui: Yay! I'm so glad you're joining us and congrats again!

@mrs. 64: boo about the betas but great progesterone number!!!

@T.H.O.U.: We told my mom and sister last night. They knew that we were ready to do our fertility testing and they were totally shocked and thrilled. We are telling DH's parents and sister today. They didn't know we were trying so I'm thinking they will be shocked. Even though it is super early and I've been doing quite a bit of worrying, I am trying to be as optimistic as possible and I wanted to share that joy.

@T.H.O.U.: we told my family. We had a best sis ever shirt for dd. dh thought it'd be funny to give it to my sister and then when she opens it she realizes it's a little kids shirt. so we did it and my sister screamed when she saw it haha I'm glad she and everyone seem just as excited the second time around!

We don't celebrate Xmas, but we still don't plan on telling family until after the first u/s next week. Sometimes its hard to believe its real without having seen anything...

Like I said I'm letting SIL have her spotlight. It is kinda annoying because everytime everyone gets all excited over her I want to be like "I'm pregnant tooooo!!" lol.

Also it's becoming hard to hide because nausea has hit me hard the last 2 days. I threw up for the first time last night while at our family get together, but I think I managed to hide it. I also was up all last night and I feel downright awful today. FIL asked me jokingly if I was pregnant today and I was forced to lie. I'm doing the trick where I have a glass of wine but don't drink it to try and throw people off the track.

    @pui: sorry you are sick.

Is anyone having issues with pressure on their belly? I don't have ms unless I have pressure on my stomach (pants too tight or bending over). And then it's not even sickness but heartburn and yucky feeling.

I guess I should count this as a symptom and be thankful for it?

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!

@t.h.o.u.: I did tell my parents. I am terrible at keeping a secret. I think my DH is a little miffed we didn't tell his parents but his family is huge and they would have told everyone. I wasn't comfortable with that possibility, at least not until we hear the heartbeat.

Has anyone else had any spotting? I woke up Christmas morning to brown spotting which freaked me out. It was only once and didn't happen again but I have to say I will feel much better once I have heard the heartbeat. I hate to wish time away but I can't wait for 1/8 to come.

@T.H.O.U.: nope - but stupid me, i left my pee sticks the day after i got my BFP on the bathroom counter in the guest bathroom and my MIL saw them when she came over while i was at work to see my dogs. SO my MIL and FIL found out but we aren't telling anyone until way, way later.

I am pretty sure i've been nauseous for the past couple of days, it feels like just a mild hangover 24/7. And i just generally feel like crap. But i don't know if it's the holiday stress or these are symptoms. i have to admit, i'm having a hard time validating my "symptoms" because of my miscarriage - last time i did have the same symptoms (minus this nausea) and i felt kind of stupid when all was said and done and it was found that there never was a baby (i had a blighted ovum). But for now, i'm just patiently waiting for the first appointment. Hope everyone had a good christmas!

  19. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@chibee: I totally understand about validating your symptoms. I don't want to say everything is a pregnancy sign because I've had them before and things don't always end well.

Hopefully you can get your scan soon and confirm all is well.

PS - My MIL used my bathroom this weekend too. Hopefully she didn't think much of the prenatal.

I feel like I am in a hell of my own making. At the risk of being a complete complainer, I have been throwing up for days. I keep searching the boards hoping to find someone who says it lasts for a couple of days and then passes, but no one wants to give me that sweet satisfaction. My husband has been so sweet and we've tried all the home remedies - even brewing our own ginger tea - nothing seems to work. I've tried sea sick wrist bands, preggie pops, lemons....

Sorry to spend this entire post complaining. I hope everyone had a WONDERFUL Christmas -- hard to believe that in a couple of days we will be in the year that our new babies will arrive!

@BakerBee: Sorry to hear you're so sick Have you called your doctor to let them know?

  22. LBee

    pomegranate / 3895 posts

@Mrs.Someone I haven't called yet because I don't want to seem like a baby. I know everyone gets sick and I feel like I should just tough it out. It's just really hard being at work today -- plus (added bonus), I start a new job in 2 weeks, so I'm really worried that they are not only getting someone with pregnancy-brain but also someone who wants to spend 70% of her day in the bathroom.

  23. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@BakerBee: Im so sorry. I think in situations like this you should call your doctor and discuss medications. It could become a health risk if you aren't staying hydrated.

  24. Mrs.Someone

    pomelo / 5228 posts

@BakerBee: I agree with T.H.O.U., if you can't function on a daily basis, then its definitely worth a call.

  25. LBee

    pomegranate / 3895 posts

@Mrs.Someone @T.H.O.U.: Maybe I will call the nurse at my doctor's office and leave a low key message just explaining that it's been about 5 days and I don't know if I'm at the point where I should be concerned.

Thanks for the push, ladies! You guys made a good point -- it's hard to remember that on the importance level it's baby > my pride.

@BakerBee - Hang in there! Sending you lots of virtual saltines!

I had my first actual throwup experience yesterday at 6w4d. Merry Christmas from the baby I suppose! It definitely made it a bit harder to feel like celebrating.
I packed my crackers and an emergency plastic bag with me for work today. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can make it through the day.

On a different note, I wanted to ask what apps you would recommend for pregnancy/baby. Are some better than others?

I have the What to Expect app and its pretty good for just tracking your dates and general information.

This is also a good day to day update calendar.

Finally got my betas from Monday- Went from 17 to 291 with a doubling time of 33.4 hours. I'm very pleased. I also went back and looked at my chart and I think I might have O'd day later than I thought, which would make my betas a little more on target. The RE gave me the option of coming in for one more set of betas on Monday so I said okay.

Hi everyone! I was hesitant to join until we had our first appointment. Excited about the "due date twins" feed here on HB, as I didn't know it existed during my first pregnancy!

    EDD: 8/9
When Did You Find Out?: End of November (before I missed my period...I was tipped off my nonstop sickness)
    Child Number: 2
    Where You Live: Phoenix, Arizona
What kind of provider will you see?: OB/GYN
When's Your First Appointment?: My first appt. was on Christmas Eve. We saw baby's heartbeat and he/she is measuring a few days ahead of schedule. So thankful!
What kind of birth do you want?: At the hospital with an epidural like the first.
What You're Most Excited For: For my daughter to be a big sister.
What You're Most Scared About: miscarriage and morning sickness lasting longer than with my first pregnancy
Symptoms so far: Morning sickness (I've had it before getting a positive test) and unfortunately I have it all day with it getting worse as the day goes on. It is starting to feel like Groundhog's Day around here...trying to stay positive. With my first pregnancy it was greatly lessened by 16 weeks. I'm also a bit more tired than with my last pregnancy.

@T.H.O.U.: We told our families and close friends within a couple days of getting our positive test. After our loss at 21 weeks last time, the whole "12 weeks and you're safe" thing is pretty meaningless to me. We waited till 2nd trimester last time and still had to share our bad news with everybody anyway. And if something goes wrong again, whether its at 7 weeks or like last time, I want my family there for me.

    @Phxbee: welcome!

@beckysue: we didn't tell dhs family for the same reason! Dh was okay with it for the most part. I think he forgot anyway when we saw his family. As for spotting I've seen it all brown red pink etc. it's pretty common to spot I think. I think as long as u aren't cramping too or filling a pad in an hour u r okay. It does freak me out too tho every time I see anything!

@BakerBee: hope the morning sickness settles down soon!

@MrsT927: I use sprout and babybump. I like the info on sprout and baby bump has nice features like weight journal and contraction counter. I think I upgraded to get those features tho

@mrs. 64: Yay! Exciting abt the beta numbers!!

@Phxbee: welcome and congrats! Glad ur us went well!!

@T.H.O.U.: we told our parents. No big reveal or anything just called them up and let them know.

@chibee: that's how I've been feeling too. Just overall like crap. I'm nauseous on and off all day. And I totally get the validating symptoms thing. I keep wondering if I feel symptoms b/c I want to or b/c they're real. The first time I was pregnant and miscarried, I felt so stupid that I walked around for 12 weeks thinking I was pregnant and it turned out I lost the baby around 6 weeks ( didn't find out until I would have been 12 weeks).

@BakerBee: I'm so sorry you're feeling sick. I hope you can get some relief.
