Hi Everyone! I am sorry to drop off the HelloBee site for weeks at a time (so it seems) I am really just trying to get through, a day at a time. Still somewhat ill despite hitting second trimester.... How is everyone else holding up? Any new remedies for Nausea? Anyone having crazy nightmares? Anyone also having this strange uncontrollable gagging? I think that is what has me down the most, mainly at night.

As far as maternity clothing is concerned, I have found an amazing pair of maternity jeans on H&M for 26 dollars. Worth every penny. ASOS also has some cute stuff. Otherwise I am just buying large for most things....

    Hope everyone is doing well!

So I went to the washroom right now and (tmi) I was a bit constipated. Afterwards while wiping I saw three small drops of bright red blood. I wiped again and nothing.

I'm worried... I just hope I see no more blood...

@MrsT927: Sounds like a great appointment! It will be interesting to see if her boy guess holds true!

@chibee: Glad you are feeling better!

@T.H.O.U.: I'm sorry you haven't been feeling well. Has the spotting improved?

@BakerBee: Awesome news! And yay for maternity pants!

@Claire.Peonies: Hoping that the second tri will help ease your sickness really soon! I've also had bad nightmares lately. Also the last week I've been getting really nauseous as I fall asleep and it's like, dang it I just want to sleep!

@pui: I'm sure it is nothing. I've heard many bees say this has happened to them after using the bathroom. I was finally brave enough to dtd yesterday and had 2 small spots of red blood, but I'm pretty sure it was external so I tried not to panic. Haven't had anything since.

@pui: was the blood coming from your anus ? (Forgive me for asking!) because if you are constipated and strained to go, that can cause a little blood.

@mrskc: I don't think it did. It was my front wipe lol.

Is anyone having second thoughts about their provider? I saw a special gynecologist for years because of a condition I have but unfortunately she does not do OB. She suggested the OB practice I am now going to. Of the 4 women I know who've recently had babies, all of them have gone to this practice and they all said positive things. It is a large practice with 5 OBs and 4 midwives, so you see a variety of providers during your pregnancy.

I've only had one appointment so far and after leaving, I realized the doctor kind of dismissed my #1 concern. She did say that if any of the other providers gave me trouble about it to ask to talk to her, but I feel like she didn't really understand what I was trying to say in the first place. Since then I needed a refill for my progesterone. It was initially prescribed by the RE but the OB said she wanted me to stay on it for 12 weeks. The day I called for a refill she was not in the office. The nurse was kind of rude and said she consulted another doctor and since I had no history of miscarriage that I should discontinue the progesterone at 10 weeks. I lobbied hard for a prescription and they called in one for 25mg which is very low. Now I'm having trouble even getting that dose at a pharmacy and feel like I need to call back tomorrow but I just feel like no one is going to listen to me again. Part of me thinks maybe they're right and I should just stop the progesterone (I have enough to get me to 11 weeks). I don't know if I'm overreacting or if these are just early signs that no one is going to listen to my concerns at this practice. Thoughts?

@pui: ok lol. I think just a couple drops is nothing to worry about.

@mrs. 64: ah that's so frustrating. I go to a large ob practice and it has it's negatives. Like I was really upset when it took them 2 weeks to get me by progesterone results and they were low! But I went to this doc for me first pregnancy so I'm sticking with them. I think if you are feeling doubtful now, it doesn't hurt to look around for a different ob. Now is a good time to switch if you're going to switch. Whe is your next appt? You could wait and see how your next appt goes. Let your ob know what happened with the progesterone prescription and see how she reacts. I think if she's apologetic that's a good sign. My ob was very apologetic when I told him how upset I was over the progesterone results fiasco. He was on vacation at the time. He apologized and I even heard him telling his staff about it while I was waiting and I could tell he wasn't happy with how I was treated. That was a good sign to me.

So I haven't had any more bleeding at all. I guess it was just a fluke. I can't wait to see a healthy baby at my ultrasound next week!

@pui: Yea! I had a bit of fluke spotting agains this week too.

on Other news, I am excited because we found a really strong 160, even up to 180 heartbeat on the doppler this morning! Bring on the NT scan tomorrow!

@mrs. 64: No experience with this directly, but you are stuck seeing this doctor a fair amount. My thoughts are to go with a doctor (and practice) you feel 100% comfortable with.

When I was choosing my doctor I thought a whole lot about the practice overall... my husband is an analyst (translate: nerd) and I had him calculate the rough statistics of, depending on the practice size, my doctor delivering my baby. He came back with like 30% (which is more than any other doctor in the practice, but still fairly low), which made me realize I needed to be comfortable with every doctor in that practice and trust that they understood my needs. Easier said than done, but still something to think about if the other doctors are bullies.

Sorry about the opinionated post.. ends up I'm a little rantish this morning. Look out world!

@T.H.O.U.: This absolutely THRILLS me. I knew your bean was just being silly and hiding last time.

    @pui: def a fluke, don't worry!

@mrs. 64: i had the same exact problem as you. When i first got pregnant and miscarried, i stayed with my old practice bc my gynecologist that i absolutely LOVE does not do OB but i wanted to stay in the same office. I did not love the other doctors, they were a little dismissive and cold towards my concerns and throughout my miscarriage. So this time around, I found a new practice and so far, I really don't love them or hate them, so I'm just sticking with them. I think it's really important to feel like you are being heard, and not dismissed. This is what made me change doctors...

@T.H.O.U.: yay!!! isn't it so exciting to hear the heartbeat on the doppler?? I have my NT scan tomorrow too!

So I was looking at this thread about when people's first babies arrrived... http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/for-your-first-pregnancy-how-close-to-your-due-date-did-you-naturally-go-into-labor

...and it made me realize that since my due date is Aug 2, I basically have a 50/50 chance of an Aug vs. July baby! I feel so attached to the idea of an "August baby" because that's what I've been telling people all along. I guess it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. It just means I shouldn't get anything with birthstones in advance

  27. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@JennyPenny: I really question the results of that poll. I just think its pretty common that FTM's that naturally go into labor go after their due date. But I agree, I would not buy any birthstones yet!

  28. JennyPenny

    nectarine / 2460 posts

@T.H.O.U.: Actually, I had heard that too, and was surprised by the poll. But I looked it up and found an article (wish I still had the link) that basically said there's no difference. What they did find is that 2+ time moms are more likely to deliver close to their due date whereas 1st time moms are more likely to be either 2+ weeks early or 1+ weeks late. But overall there is no statistical evidence that first time moms deliver late.

  29. pui

@T.H.O.U.: @JennyPenny: There's not a bad chance I'll have a September baby since I'm due pretty close to the end of August!

  30. kodybear

    pear / 1616 posts

@JennyPenny: I had my first one 2.5 weeks early! Maybe the moms who have late babies are more verbal (abt going past their date or being uncomfortable etc) so it seems like they're more? I dunno. An old wives tale I've heard is that it'll be similar to the dads birth. My dh was 4 weeks early supposedly so it was more similar to that then my birth. I think my mom was late or around the due date.

  31. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@kodybear: I think it also depends on the accuracy of the EDD. Some doctors don't do dating scans and may not change the due date to accommodate for long/short cycles.

I was pretty sure I conceived early in my cycle and was consistently measuring ahead my whole pregnancy but my EDD never changed. So even though she was born "early" I think she was just full term.

  32. JennyPenny

    nectarine / 2460 posts

@kodybear: Hmmm.... Interesting. I was born 2.5 weeks early, and I was a first born. DH was his mom's third but he doesn't know if he was early or late. He was a whopping 10 pounder though, so maybe I should be happy to go into labor early....

So happy to hear about everybody's great appointments lately!

So there's a nasty cold going around my office right now and out of 13 people I am one of about 3 that haven't gotten it yet. So much for a weakened immune system during pregnancy haha....and now I probably just jinxed myself. How's everybody else doing avoiding the sicknesses going around?

Had an appt this morning. Dr couldn't find the hb with a Doppler. I found it a couple times the last time being a couple days ago so I wasn't super worried (but maybe a little) so she brought out a handheld u/s device. Baby was just dancing in there so all was good! I wish I could have one of those u/s devices.. Set my anatomy scan appt!! Mid march can't wait to find out the gender!!
