345 and I'm definitely full of milk. So yay for milk. Boo engorgement. He would only sleep curled up next to me in bed though. Pissed at the R and P and swaddle. Again a first. Crazy how every kid is so different. Oh did I mention I'm alone with the kids tomorrow?? Ha!

@MrsF: I think so? Yesterday was only really "day 1" since I didn't deliver til 10 Tuesday night. Per my chart he was supposed to have 1 wet and 1 poo and he had 2 of each. Poo is straight up medium brown now. He's really farty though.

@winniebee: Day 3 for us was pretty brutal. Logan wouldn't stop eating and seemed super unsatisfied. So maybe it's normal? Really hope you are able to get some sleep though!

Well, the RnP was not successful. She slept upright on my chest in our bed. Now that I've fed again we are in the reclining glider in her room. Much more comfortable. I'm sure DH will appreciate us leaving too.

@winniebee: I feel for you. At least I only have K tomorrow. Her and I can sleep together. I hope for an easy toddler day for you.

Looks like my little guy is WIDE awake. And he keeps rooting, but won't stay on the boob. Think I m ight be empty... I wonder if this is the start of the two-week growth spurt... He's 13 days.

@winniebee: I've been surprised at how different the two kids are too (and I'm sure it only gets more dramatic). Just when you think you know it all!
Hopefully if your milk is in now he won have to do so much cluster feeding to bring on the supply. Sorry it's been such a rough night

We were up every 2 hours. D broke out of swaddle and wanted to party. Off to see Santa. I'll catch up this afternoon.

@winniebee: mine must just hit her 2 week growth spurt, she fusses like crazy and my nipples are sooo sore from nursing nonstop hang in there!!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@josina: nice that you got more milk!! I have yet to start pumping.. Nursing alone is overwhelming
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: yes, super unsatisfied is the word. Nursing used to be the cure all but last night she nursed and fussed --> repeat all night! I know its prob her 1 week growth spurt.. I so hope it doesn't lasts for too long
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: I feel like I'm empty too! Since I use a shield I usually see a pool of milk at the tip when she unlatch but I didn't see anything this morning and I was so worried she didn't get anything I ended up giving her an oz of formula again!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: Yeah, I think there's a growth spurt between 7-10 days, so you're right there! Hopefully it's only a 24 hour thing or something. I forget how long they usually last. I didn't notice Logan go through that one, but I remember Xander hitting it. It's so hard because they want to nurse constantly and you feel like there's nothing left and so they are frustrated and unsatisfied! But it's normal!!! Fussing at the breast and nursing non-stop is how they help regulate your supply, so try not to let it bother you if you can! This is what's supposed to happen!

Sounds like it was a long night for everyone! Similarly, we had a rough one. I'm taking her to the pediatrician today. I'm not sure what they can do, but she's just miserable. Also, I'm really not worried about her cardiac issues, but the symptoms I'm supposed to look for are difficulty breathing, trouble nursing and excessive sweating. At this point, I would miss those and attribute them to her cold...

@Adira: nothing a good cry can't solve lol. My hormones are def raging. Just yesterday I thought hey this newborn thing ain't that bad. Then last night happened and I broke down lol. Thank God for DH. He goes back to work next week, I want to cry thinking about it! My mom will come help but DH has been so amazing.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@rattles: trouble nursing is pretty universal tho! I hope your appt goes well!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: Ugh, yes, I remember my hormones after Xander was born. I could not stop crying!!! And my husband was home for 4 weeks, but the thought of him returning to work would set me off in tears! It made me so anxious to think of being alone with the baby! He ended up working from home two days a week for another 4 weeks because I was such a mess. I hope you feel better soon and that nursing gets easier.
grapefruit / 4903 posts
@snowjewelz: I know - they are totally unhelpful things to look for, because I feel like those are things for all newborns!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: dude. So I leaked SO much milk today since she nursed nonstop last night! I feel so awful; that I let all this milk leak and couldn't save it, and that I caved and gave her formula so she wasn't hungry enough to drain my boobs!! Ok; rant over!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@snowjewelz: it's strange not to be engorged most of the day anymore - I worry about supply whenever he's hungry. I'm trying to have faith that he's just growing and nursing so that my supply grows with him though! I hope things are going better!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@rattles: hope the pedi can help reassure you and that baby is feeling better soon!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MrsF: I'm totally with you. I freak out when I feel like there is none and I freak out when I'm leaking!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@rattles: hope the ped went ok!!
I promise to catch up as soon as we have our bearings! Quick question - did you pump to relieve early engorgement? Ryan has been nursing a ton lots of pee and poo but I have rocks right now and know he can't empty them. I'm also super sensitive to bringing in an over supply since I did it with my first and it was hard to manage.
I'm going to bed after my toddler tonight. I got a 30 min nap today and slept a total of. 2 hours last night. Oy.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: I remember with Xander I used to leak soooooo much! I'd wake up in puddles of milk sometime! It was so annoying!! Time to start wearing nursing pads I think!
@winniebee: With Xander, when he used to go longer stretches and I was engorged, he had trouble latching, so I would pump prior to feeding him sometimes to help out! I never had an oversupply.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@winniebee: I didn't pump for the first two weeks because I wanted to avoid the long-term engorgement that I had with M. They had me pumping after feeds with her to increase my supply and it was definitely overkill!
I hope you're more comfortable soon!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: I tried to but didn't really work out, and I haven't tried since!
So I am really worried. She started eating at 6pm last, I tried nursing her for literally an hour almost and she just wouldn't eat! I couldn't keep her awake and I did everything. She already has 7 wet diapers, and I have fed her 10 times today. So is it okay that it's going to be 4 hrs since her last feeding that I try again?!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: I think having a couple longer stretches isn't going to hurt anything, but because she is jaundiced, I would keep trying to wake her. Strip her down to her diaper and maybe splash some water on her or something. I'm not really sure. I know with Xander, I let him go more than two hours at night just because I was too exhausted to keep up the every two hour schedule, and he was fine.

Feeling very out of the loop! Looks like everyone's having some rough nights... .
@snowjewelz: I'm so sorry about the tears, but I have been there! Up until this week I cried at least once a day. Yesterday both my husband and I were teary because we had a super rough afternoon and our spirits were crushed-it's the emotions and the exhaustion, I tell ya! Hang in there @rattles: Hope your appointment went well....we had the same feeling on Monday. Weren't sure what they could do, but just needed something to help with the screaming/all-day fussiness. Hope you got something helpful!
Sweet N is one month old today! Hard to believe, yet I do feel like I haven't slept in a month!
Our update: Although the sleep stretches don't seem to ever go beyond 3/3.5 hours (he did 4 hour stretches when he first came home! Where did those go?!?!), last night I was able to get him back down more easily after feeding which for me is half the battle. It can take over an hour for the entire process, and sleeping in two-hour increments (or less) has been really hard. I've been trying to be a stickler about making sure he is down for a nap less than two hours after he wakes during the day, and it seems to help his overall mood. Every night is like a new, nerve-wracking battle to figure out maximum sleep and minimum crying!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: she was out to torture me! I tried again at 10 and she ate just fine, one hour later! Grr...
@ChiCalGoBee: hugs to you too! Today was bad; I cried multiple times! And I am so bad about napping that I end up with very very lil sleep and I think that contributes to my weak state emotionally!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@BandDmommy: yay!
the only thing that keeps me semi sane is that she wets and poops regularly so I must assume she is getting enough from me! So anxious for her to get weighed on Mon!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@ChiCalGoBee: happy one month! I'm with you on the soothing after feeds being the most difficult part! It makes me so anxious not knowing if he'll go back down.
nectarine / 2028 posts
@BandDmommy: SO jealous...N's first stretch was an hour, and the second was 2.5. I'd looove 3! @MrsF: THIS. If he consistently went back down I'd be fine with the occasional long one, but each time I'm so afraid it'll take forever!

Last night was sooo much better! Two 2.5 hour stretches and a 1.5 hour before DS1 woke at 7. Not bad for night 2 at home.
I forgot how challenging boy diaper changes are. We are in poop every feed territory and then pee all over the place during diaper change land. Takes forever to change one diaper with outfit changes!!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@winniebee: so glad your night was better! It makes such a huge difference.
I'm learning about boy diaper changed for the first time. Whole different animal
