@BandDmommy: m loves baking with me right now too. She'll wake up from her nap asking to bake a pumpkin pie with mama.

@MamaG: sorry that pumping has been a challenge
We're having trouble with M at bedtime (and other times) too. She's just so used to having both of our attention all the time. I hate missing eating dinner with Her or not being able to put her to bed, but the baby has to eat! I'm looking forward to him getting a little older with a more predictable routine so at least she'll know what to expect.

OMG ladies, Logan just slept for FIVE hours!!!! I woke up before him with totally engorged boobs! So glad he's up and eating right now.

@MamaG: @MrsF: I totally hear you ladies about our older children. While Hubs has primarily handled Xander's bedtime already, I always would play with him right before. Now I'm often nursing and I can always hear Xander calling for me.

@josina: I hope the new shield size works for you. And those newborn pics are ADORABLE!!!

@Adira: i know it's either "mom! Mom! Mom!" Or standing at the top of the stairs screaming my first name (which was funny the first time...)

@Adira: wow! That's awesome! Yay for long stretches.
I try to still participate in Bs bedtime. I nurse D upstairs while DH reads B his bedtime stories. Have you guys tried that?

It was a rough night. She is a master grunted. She seems so uncomfortable and gassy. And she was up every 2-2.5 hours screaming to be fed. I don't handle that sort of alarm well at all. I am anxious for the days of better sleep.

I am back at pre pregnancy weight and in my jeans. I want to start working out this week and get down to my happy weight. :). My double BOB arrived the other day. So excited to start using it!!

@BandDmommy: I'm pretty much doing the same thing. The timing just stresses me out and I'm prioritizing her bedtime over eating dinner myself. It can only get easier as the nursing gets more efficient, right?

Well we made it through our first night home
he was awake on and off from midnight to 5am but let us get some sleep and a shower and breakfast in until 8:30 or 9
My milk is coming in and I'm so engorged!! Ouch
Sorry for not keeping up with all you mamas' updates but I hope everyone has a great day and get some rest

@MrsF: I would think so! Or once they get in a routine. (Which of course will change again in a few months )
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: that is awesome! So do you not have to feed him every few hrs anymore?
Being able to nurse laying down is making my nights more bearable. In doing that tho we kinda became co-sleepers... If I got her up then she'd fuss and want to nurse again so right now I nurse, burp/changer diaper, nurse again and pass out with her. I hope she won't get too used to this!

@MamaG: I am so sorry I hope there are better days ahead! I'm on a roller coaster.. Some days are def better than others!

@BandDmommy: that is awesome! I hsve no idea how much i weigh; we just ordered a scale but it's more to see how much LO weighs haha!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@magnolia: oh yes the engorgement was so bad the fist few days! Hang in there! My first few days home were just a big blur (not that it's that much better now at one week haha)
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: I'm still feeding him every two hours during the day (sometimes sooner), but he's been doing longer stretches at night. I was shocked by him going five hours though!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: I'm dying for the day she gains back all Her birth weight and hopefully get the okay to let her sleep at night!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: I remember that from Xander! I had to wake him every two hours to eat, even at night. It was so hard! When is your next appointment? Hopefully K will be back to her birth weight soon!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@magnolia: sounds like things are going well at home! Hope the engorgement feels better soon! It can be so uncomfortable Nice to know there's plenty there though!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: Next week.. I dunno though, then I'd be afraid my supply will go down.. And if I decide to pump I might as well just wake and feed her?! Oh well, cross that bridge when I get there! Right now it's one feeding at a time.
PS / Amazon Prime and Target in store pick up are my best friends right now!

How's everyone doing? We had a pretty uneventful day. How much tummy time is everyone doing? We are about 10 mins a day.

@snowjewelz: C starts in her crib, but we're accidental co sleepers after her midnight wakeups because I fall asleep while nursing her side lying. We did the same with L (she was a lousy sleeper from the beginning and it was the only way to survive). We moved her to her crib full time around 4 months without it being a problem.
@Adira: 5 hours! How glorious!
@BandDmommy: congrats! I never use a scale, but I'm back in regular clothes. My skinniest jeans need a hair tie a la first trimester though!
C is still fighting a cold. I hate seeing her so helpless! It's making nursing hard for her, and she's having more wakeups too. L's 2nd birthday party is on Saturday, so I'm trying to get things together for that.

K seems to have a little cold. DH noticed some congestion when he fed her this morning and I noticed it throughout the day. She's been very sleepy even though I tried really hard to keep her awake today. She just wasn't having it. So, I'm guessing it's going to be another night of feeding every two hours.
We are doing tummy time for about 5-10 minutes per day. She doesn't hate it too much. She pulls away from my shoulder all the time.
We are sleeping however we can survive. Last night she started in the RnP and ended up in our bed. I really want to get her into the PnP or her crib, but she really doesn't like to be flat on her back at all. Currently she's snoozing in the swing.

@MamaG: ugh, sorry to hear it! I'll keep my fingers crossed that the cold doesn't go anywhere because she sleeps it all off tonight! if not though, I'll be glad for the solidarity during our mid night saline and snot sucking routine

@rattles: good to know! I just finished nursing her laying down and about to pass out together!

We got home today. My milk is quasi in (can pump about 5cc of colostrum). I have a 5 lb peanut who happily ate every 2-3 hours all day (and yesterday). But I've been nursing him nonstop since 10 (plus an hour feed from 745-845). It's 115 and haven't been to bed. Every time I put him down he roots and cries. He's only 48 hours old but is this a growth spurt or is he just real hungry Bc my milk is now coming in? I know he's getting milk Bc it's dribbling out of his mouth and I fed him pumped colostrum twice today. How is this even possible? My first never did this! Speaking of which he will be up in 6 hours. Omg! I do not feel like a second time mom.
(And hi everyone!)

@rattles: @MamaG: so sorry both of your babies have colds! It's so hard to see them uncomfortable
honeydew / 7283 posts
@BandDmommy: we did maybe 10 minutes of tummy time today but I have really been focusing on it. M haaaated it, so I should probably try to do better in the early months this time (though it certainly didn't affect her in the long run)
honeydew / 7283 posts
@winniebee: ugh - that sounds brutal We had a lot of cluster feeding around the 10 day mark and are still doing 2 hours between feeds for the most part. I would feel pretty confident he's getting milk if you can see it dribbling out of his mouth. Is he having enough wet diapers?
I hope you get some sleep soon. It's horrible...
persimmon / 1168 posts
@winniebee: right there with you
baby is a pretty sleepy and content guy during the day but tonight and last night he just wants to eat all night
hopefully it will pay off in weight gain tomorrow when go to his first pediatrician appt but I am. So. Tired.

@winniebee: Sounds like our first night home with Ethan... I was exhausted and E only slept for a couple hours all night. We were told to supplement at his check up the next day and he was a happy baby again, and I quit as soon as my milk (not colostrum) came in.
Hopefully this is a 1 night occurance for you also!

I pumped again today after quitting for a week and got 2 ounces off one session, super excited to see 'results' this time.
pomelo / 5298 posts
I'm up after trying to feed a sleepy one. In my quest to keep her tummy full and sleepy she spit up all over both of us.
Now she's trying to get back comfortable in the RnP and I lay here awake.
