our babies are getting so big! I haven't bought a jumper/walker thing yet for Micah but I really need to. The one josina posted is soooo cute! Anyone have any that they recommend?

@whenoceansrise: I've been looking at this one just b/c it can fold up to save space - http://amzn.com/B00NFETGM6
I know these 2 are very popular -

I'm also on the look out to get a used one so I might just get a completely different one if I see one at a great price and condition!

We have the Fisher-Price Luv U Zoo Jumperoo that @snowjewelz: posted above. It does take up a lot of space (but they all do!).
We won't use a walker like @josina: posted in part because we have a sunk family room. It's one step up to our kitchen or formal.
Our daycare doesn't have a jumper at all, just an exersaucer. C loved this one (her old daycare had it), http://amzn.com/B002VUCBC2

I've been looking at this one- It's a walker. I like that it has an MP3 setting that you can play music to your baby, but I wonder if I would ever actually use that feature?

@FaithFertility: To commiserate with you.. K is being bad with the bottle again on top of sleeping bad DH is so frustrated b/c it took her over an hour to eat just 1 oz. Usually she only fusses for like 10 min and then will drink that bottle and then the bottles after that one aren't a problem.

@whenoceansrise: Uggh why are all these things so gigantic lol!

@snowjewelz: ohhh no!!!!!! They are sooo smart!!! I've been praying about it nightly because I see no end in sight other then having her cry it out, but honestly I have a feeling that won't work either DH tried for an hr today and she just fell asleep She got so mad he stops when she gets upset but he says she has no interest as if she would rather starve...
I know it is hard since you are away, so I can't imagine...I'll pray for you too!!!!

now I'm reading that walkers are not recommended by pediatricians... anyone hear anything regarding that? I had no idea!

Here is the one we have: http://www.target.com/p/combi-all-in-one-mobile-entertainer/-/A-15202946#prodSlot=medium_1_1&term=Combi+All-In-One+Mobile+Entertainer+
I like it because it's an all-in-one, so we can use it as a jumper or walker, and the height adjusts on it, so even though he can't actually jump/walk yet he can still sit in it with his feet touching. He loves the sounds and mirrors, and the top of the car comes off for just a tray. I love that I can move it around so he can be wherever I am and entertained.

@whenoceansrise: Yeah I think more to the fact if they are in it all the time, they still need to be on the floor and gain strength....same as a Bumbo I guess

@whenoceansrise: I think there might be developmental and safety concerns with walkers.

@whenoceansrise: we don't and won't ever have walker because we live in a 3 story house.
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@Adira: Interesting article, I had never heard that. We will just have to make sure he's still getting lots of tummy/floor time. We don't have any stairs to worry about so not too concerned with the safety issue.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@josina: I feel like the whole "walkers are bad" thing is very recent. Even our exersaucer says something like "Don't use for more than 10 minutes at a time" or something.

I'm definitely overly cautious about things like walkers. So even though our house is just one story, and there's no logical reason we couldn't have on, I still couldn't make one happen.

@FaithFertility: Phew DH said she finally finished her 4 oz. Now that I think about it, maybe she nursed too much last night and just wasn't hungry. But man, this baby keeps us on our toes...
honeydew / 7444 posts
@snowjewelz: Oh i never look at him when he nurses. I close my eyes and discourage any interaction at night so that he doesn't get any stimulation! But the coos are too cute, i have to admit.

@whenoceansrise: They're banned in Canada. My friend tried to sell hers on craigslist, and got tons of emails berating her for trying to sell it. I think it's fine as long as it's used with discretion (supervised, not for long periods of time).

I've been having issues getting A to bed, and now i'm wondering if it's because his bedtime should be later? He has 3 naps, with his last nap ending between 5 and 5:15pm. I'll put him down by 7pm but he wakes up 45 minutes later and it takes 30 minutes to fall back asleep. Should i just let him have a catnap, and then try bedtime a little later?
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Freckles: lately k is not sleeping for real till at least 9 either! She used to go down between 7:30-8 and was fine until at least 11 and later but now she either refused to be put down or will wake up!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@Freckles: Ethan is usually up from 5 till 8:30 or 9, with maybe a half hour nap. I'm trying to move his bed time up but hasn't been working so well.
For some reason I'm down almost 2 ounces pumping today! I usually get 5 oz each time I pump and I'm at 4.5 and 3.5 so far today.
(AF showed up last Saturday and hadn't seemed to effect anything). Drinking extra water now!

Well...that was just about the stupidest idea ever. It is 10:10pm and *someone* keeps waking up every 10 minutes.

Hi guys, January mama here with a question for you if you don't mind! My guy is 9 weeks old and just started daycare this week. He doesn't take long / good naps there yet so has been exhausted when I pick him up. He falls asleep in the car at 5:30 and then wakes to eat around 7, falls back asleep until I wake him to eat and go to bed around 9. Did anybody you experience this when starting daycare? Was it temporary until they got adjusted or your new normal? Thanks so much!

12 week spurt is upon us, this girl can't eat enough.....up at 12:30, 4 and 6......eating again at 8
pomelo / 5298 posts
@HappyBaker: we started daycare at 8 weeks. She's now 16 weeks and this is fairly routine for us. Even now some days she sleeps better be she's just exhausted after a day at daycare.

Seems we have another little virus. Cold like symptoms cough and nasal congestion. Still sleeping and eating, but more fussy. Good times!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Freckles: I have no clue about bedtimes. Logan goes down anytime between 5:00 and 8:00 and it seems totally random, although I guess it depends on how he napped.
@HappyBaker: Totally normal! Logan does this a bunch and I remember Xander did it ALL THE TIME. With Xander, it didn't really get better or more predictable until he dropped to two naps a day around 8 months!
@FaithFertility: Hope the growth spurt is short for you!
@MamaG: Sorry to hear your little one is sick! Mine still is too and it sucks.
Last night was rough. It was okay until my alarm went off at 2:00 a.m. to give the kids their inhalers. That woke Logan up and he slept fitfully the rest of the night, waking up every hour. I'm so tired today!

@happybaker: I SAHM with my second LO, but a carnap post-daycare was totally normal for my first LO. I just didn't let her sleep very long, so that she would go down at her normal 7p bedtime. It was usually something like a 15-20min nap. And, actually, it was super helpful because she took such horrendous naps at daycare that they finally just started putting her down for only one in the afternoon around 8 months. She'd be tired enough then to actually sleep for a good 1.5-2hrs, and then the little catnap on the way home helped her get a little additional rest and be pleasant in the evening for us

@Adira: ughhh sorry Mama hope today goes fast and you get good sleep tonight!

@MamaG: noooooo! I hope it's short lived. My toddler sneezed a few times this morning and I think I gave him the death stare!

@HappyBaker: from my experience daycare naps SUCK. It gets better when they move out of the infant room.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
We never had a walker for our first just a jumperoo I think it's the little einstein one. He loved it. Started using around 4m.
Ryan's cough is finally noticeably better and I feel better today. Sleep is random but babies are random. Last night 815-1230, 1245-445, 5-745 and down for his first nap at 845. That's pretty normal for us. He totally tries smiling at my motn but I look away and don't engage. Mean mom!
