@Adira: STTN so he doesn't wake at all? I always wonder because medically they say at this age STTN is a 6-8hr stretch I think
nectarine / 2210 posts
@FaithFertility: that's what sttn is for us. I put her in her crib at 7:30, and she doesn't need me till around 6. Although lately she's been waking up closer to 5 so we'll bring her in bed with us for the last hour or so too.

@MamaG: haha I can't imagine her giving you the evil eye while eating!
@Adira: Amazing!
It seems like we're stuck with the 3+ wake ups now I def think some gentle sleep training is in our horizon too. I feel like she prob isn't getting the best sleep she can if it's so broken up, and since her naps aren't that great.

For those that have LO that self soothe how long don you let them try? With out then crying?
G will lay /play/fuss for 20-30 mins not crying do I just let her continue??? By that time I feel like she gets over tired and the nap window is out!?

@snowjewelz: Stinky........ we go through that too......
I am just so confused on this whole sleep front
One night she will go 6+ hrs the next 5 maybe a day of 3/4
Some nights she will wake 40mins after I put her down
Some nights I hear her wake but put her self back down
Others that is a no go......
There is no norm anymore... total crap shoot!

So DH gets home after D is asleep. He actually only sees her on weekend due to his work schedule. So, when he came home, I was bathing B and he heard D cry. So he goes in and starts playing with her. I walked in and asked what he was doing, she's supposed to be sleeping. He sheepishly looked at me and said "she's my daughter, I'm a sucker."

@BandDmommy: Awwww it is hard I bet for him!!!! But as mad as you were I am sure your heart melted!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@FaithFertility: That's what I mean when I saw STTN - he does 7-8 hours. He goes down around 7, wakes between 8 and 9 to eat, and then sleeps until around 5. Then usually back down for another hour.
@BandDmommy: Awww, so sweet!

@Adira: yeah so I guess she does STTN on occasion.... last night was bed at 7:30 woke at 2 and again right before 6 but we slept in together for another hr

We had a little play party from 2:30 - 4:00. Ugh! She was awake and just rolling and playing with her feet at 2:30 until after 3:00 when she decided to get mad. I tried to get her back to sleep but gave into the bottle around 3:30. She then thought it was play time again. I put her in our bed at 4:00 because I just wanted to sleep!
Has anyone lowered their crib already? She kept grabbing toward the front rail. I think we need to lower it to the mid level this weekend.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@FaithFertility: I read a definitely that said if they sleep between midnight and 5:00 a.m., that's STTN, so that's kind of what I go with. Even if 7:30 to 2:00 a.m. is 6+ hours, that's not STTN to me because she's waking in the middle of the night. But sleeping when I am sleeping would count. That's why, if Logan doesn't wake by 9:00 to eat, I'll attempt a dream feed, so I can keep him from waking in the MOTN.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MamaG: We haven't lowered the crib yet, but Logan's not even rolling. I think once he can roll (or sit up), I'll lower it.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: I keep thinking if I just give her more time! But I do think I really have to give her some space/time to try to figure it out. We might need to just commit to a weekend and to do pick up/put down and see how she responds and go from there...
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MamaG: Ugggh those are the worst!! I don't know why they would think it's play time ever at that hour lol!

@FaithFertility: E will usually fall asleep after 10 minutes if he's not crying... We aren't on a schedule though so I just put him in the crib when he gets fussy and I know he's tired.
Last night was no good... He went to bed early at 7:30, up at 11:30, nursed, then 1 and I tried to let him cry/put himself back to sleep, comforted 3x and then have up and nursed at 2...I hate giving in because I think that sets us back but at the same time I'm not going to let him cry for that long... No sleep for him or me... This sleep training is no fun. ( it was last week while it worked!) It was pretty warm in our house last night so I hope it was just because of that and tonight we can get back on track.
@BandDmommy: DH was upset that E was sleeping early last night. Sucks when they don't get to see them/play with them every day.

@adira: glad he's back to normal!
We (I) had a brutal night. K is sick and E is teething, so between the two of them, we were up every 1.5-2 hours last night. Hopefully there will be a triple nap this afternoon!

@MamaG: That's interesting she wasn't a fan. Ryan is meh on solids. Yells for them and opens up big and wide but then spits out most of it and makes the most horrific face with peas. I guess he ingested some though b/c we had an interesting diaper today : ) Sorry about the shitty night
@snowjewelz: great appt!
@BandDmommy: super sweet!
@Adira: that's kind of a great schedule!

Last night was hell. I'm persisting with the crib....but without the swaddle R woke 3-4 times in the first hour and wouldn't settle. So I ultimately put him in the swaddle. But he woke like 10 times between 7:15 and 5:45 when he woke for the day. Wakings at 7:45, 8, 8:15, 830, 11, 1, 2:30, 3:45, 5:45. I put him in the R&P for that last stretch. He did take a 3 hour nap this morning in the R&P....

Micah has only STTN a few times here and there. He pretty much always wakes up to use me as a paci.

@snowjewelz: the crying.....I think my limit of full on crying is like 30 seconds
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@winniebee: brutal night I'm sorry
@MamaG: We will be lowering the crib this weekend! he isn't sitting up yet but he rolls over to the side and pulls himself up! Scares me.
@snowjewelz: k is getting so big! We didn't have a 5 mo appt. Kind of wish we did just to see his stats. Ha.
Still crummy sleep here. And H is getting soooo close to army crawling. He scootches forward a teensy bit and is even getting up on his knee every now and then. Im doomed to have the kid that doesn't sleep and crawls early. Haha.
I gave him a slice of plum this morning. He just kind of licked it and drooled on it. Haha. But I think he liked it!
Officially in size 4 diapers. Where is my tiny newborn?!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: you are so brave to be persistent! I did read that consistency on your side is ultimately what helps them. Hopefully Ryan will start getting used to his new (sleeping) life!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: Hahaha. Mine is maybe 5? I also think it depends on the cry. I can tell when she's just mad and it's not full on crying and I can handle that for longer, vs the intense cry where instincts would tell me to just go to her
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@theotherstark: H is even bigger! K still fits size 2 And I swear these kids don't sleep b/c they're trying to do so much so early lol! I am so tempted to just start solids already b/c I've been reading up in preparation for it!

@whenoceansrise: Who doesn't love a mommy paci Sometimes (never in the moment haha) I am secretly happy that my baby only wants me lol

@winniebee: Wow! That is awful! I think none of us will complain again. I hope it gets better for you soon!

@winniebee: well, it can only get better, right? (if i'm aware that saying this might jinx it, does that mean it's a reverse jinx?)

@FaithFertility: If J isn't crying and I know he needs to sleep I'll pretty much let him go as long as it takes! He's not one to just mess around and not cry though.
@BandDmommy: That schedule must to so hard for your DH (and for you!)
@MamaG: I don't think we'll lower the crib for a while. J still seems so far from sitting up!
@josina: No fun It's been warm in my kids' rooms the last few days too. I don't think it's helping the sleep!
@KayKay: I hope you got your triple nap after that night!
@winniebee: That's a horrific night. I'm so sorry
@theotherstark: Army crawling?! No way! And we're still squeezing J's monster thighs into size 2 diapers because we have so many of them left. We've had to start using the 3s at night.
