@MrsF: We did it is sooo not like her, she did a little better last night
Went to bed at 8 up at 8:30, 9...9:15 we decided to give tylenol! Woke once more MOTN ....She cries and when she wakes even MOTN normally she rarley cries! I hope it's teeth and not her just not wanting to sleep and I've been giving tylenol, I really hate meds and babies!
Wish they could tell us what they need!
@MamaG: gahhh I'm not a fan of throw up either, as a teachet that is the one thing that makes me run....lol
Hope she was better last night!
These poor babes!
@josina: Hope E is feeling good, yay to 1 wake the other night!
@whenoceansrise: How are you? Hope last night was better in whatever you decided to do!

@whenoceansrise: the first day is the worst. I briefly saw your other thread but didn't have a chance to respond. It really does get better. How often do you go in to check?
honeydew / 7444 posts
@FaithFertility: A is teething and waking up with pain cries. I can feel a tooth coming through - can't wait for it to finally pop! Gave him tylenol the last two nights, but totally doubted myself for giving it to him.

@FaithFertility: Glad to hear that things were a little better last night! Hopefully a tooth comes through soon and she has some relief.
@Freckles: It's so hard because by the time the tooth comes through I would imagine that the worst of the pain is over.

@Freckles: awww poor A...I hear you in doubting yourself on the tylenol!

@FaithFertility: @Freckles: thanks for checking in ladies. We did not try again last night because I'm still traumatized from the first night haha- the plan right now is for us to try next weekend without checks, but I'm going to leave the house and hang out with a friend to try to keep my mind off of it.

@whenoceansrise: That sounds like a good plan, I left when DH did bottle war with G, I crack very easily
eggplant / 11861 posts
@Freckles: what does the tooth feel like? I can feel. Like a little hump? It is on the side of what I think would be her 2 front bottom teeth? IDK? That is why I second guess if it is teeth? But she does chew all day long on that side!?

Another good night of sleep for K, and we got through a couple of bottles and a nap with no throwing up. Then her most recent bottle she didn't finish (very strange!) and proceeded to throw up a fair amount of it. Stresses me out because I don't know what's going on.
On the other had DH and C went to a MLB game this afternoon. I suspect it's not going well. He just texted me that it's a nightmare. At nearly 4 she really struggles to be still.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@MamaG: sorry about her spit up! I cant imagine the stress, as I am just stressed over teeth
I hope she feels better soon and stops!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@MamaG: Glad K slept well last night. So strange that she's still throwing up though! Hopefully it's just a little bug that she needs to pass.
I hope the MLB game went ok. Maybe you just caught your DH at a particularly bad moment
honeydew / 7283 posts
@FaithFertility: I find that I can't really feel the tooth until it starts to poke through and then it feels sharp. This first one I could see a little pinhole the day it came through. Other than that I feel lots of little lumps and bumps all over his gums but I can't really tell what's a tooth.
honeydew / 7283 posts
DH wants to go in and try to soothe J overnight himself rather than me feeding him. I sort of agree with him because the nights seem to be getting worse rather than getting better, but it hurts my heart to think about We'll see!
pomelo / 5298 posts
@MrsF: I don't know what is going on. She had a bottle earlier, fell asleep, woke up and played a bit. Had a great bath and when I was putting her diaper on looked really uncomfortable so I picked her up and got more than you can imagine all over me. DH agreed to stay home tomorrow. She certainly has been sneezing and has a little cough. I think it's more caused by that than a stomach bug.
honeydew / 7444 posts
@whenoceansrise: that sounds like a good plan. The first night makes you not want to go through with it again because it's sooo bad but I think you need to give it another day.
@FaithFertility: I feel sharp edge against his gums! Tiny razors.

@MamaG: Hope K stops throwing up so much! I can't take much throwing up either. I want to do it myself if there is too much.
M has been extra fussy the past 2 days. I keep attributing it to teething, but nothing is poking through just yet. He is getting up on all fours & lunging forward though. He wants to crawl badly! lol
We leave for a 12 day trip on Tuesday....this shall be fun. I hate packing for me, so packing for a baby sucks lol.

@MamaG: it sounds like a tummy bug. I'm sorry
@AngelicOne: packing for kids is crazy! I always end up packing way more than necessary.
@FaithFertility: teething is a mystery to me. My older always seemed to pop a tooth after an illness which was strange. I never knew if a tooth was coming until it poked through. I think Ryan's bottom two are close but what do I know?!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MrsF: aw! Maybe work on just eliminating the first feed? I kind of want to do that but Want to wait until after Ryan's 6m well visit.
Both kids are sick again. Wtf?!?! I thought breastfeeding would help keep Ryan healthier but he's just as sick as my first was in daycare.

I only thought I was going to work. The big kid threw up while we were getting ready this morning. Fortunately she normally empties her stomach and is then fine. The little one on the other hand I don't know what to do about.

@AngelicOne: packing for all of us stresses me out! We're just going away for a long weekend and I'm already worrying about it.
@winniebee: so much sickness
@MamaG: oh no! You guys can't catch a break!

We have J's 6 month appointment this morning but DH really wanted to see if he could get through the night with fewer feeds last night. I agree with him that it's frustrating - he STTN consistently for a few weeks around 3 months and now gets up 2-3 times a night to eat at 6 months. So last night he convinced me to let him take the lead (usually I just get up and feed him). J woke up at 11:30, rocked in the chair with DH with the pacifier with DH for 10 minutes and went back to sleep. Same thing at 3:30 (glad I didn't know about this one. I would have felt really bad not feeding him) and slept until 6:30! I'll get the ped's opinion but I'm pretty impressed.

@mrsf: that's a great night of sleep! plus if DH is taking the wakeups, that helps you sleep too
@winniebee: again!? yuck.
@angelicone: i always pack exactly what we need and figure there's gotta be a store (target, walmart, whatever) most places we would go. but it still sucks to have to pack for another person!
e slept through the night last night -- 7p-6a. i'll take a 6a wakeup if it means we all slept the whole rest of the time. i'm assuming it will be a fluke, but man, i needed it after staying out way too late saturday night

@josina: Sorry to hear E's sick! Logan has an inhaler too, so you're in good company.
@whenoceansrise: Sorry to hear about your rough first night of sleep training!
@MamaG: Sorry to hear K was sick!!
@winniebee: Ugh, sorry your kids are sick! Breastfeeding totally didn't help Xander one bit when it came to illnesses. He was sick all the time his first year of daycare AND has eczema, asthma, and food allergies! So I have no hope for Logan. Hope everyone feels better soon!
@KayKay: 11 hours!!!! That's amazing!!!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Logan's still sick here. He's still got a cough and he's sounding kind of wheezy, so we started giving him his inhaler again. I think I might have to call the pediatrician.
He turned 6 months on Friday!! So we started solids!!!!! Just started with rice cereal mixed with a lot of breast milk, so it was very thin. He seemed into it, though most of it just ended up ON him. Totally doesn't know how to eat from the spoon yet, but that's okay! I'm going to talk to daycare tonight about having them feed him in the mornings.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@KayKay: That's an amazing night! You must feel great.
It was definitely nice having DH responsible for the wakeups, though I was definitely up and down worrying about it. This morning I said "I don't know what happened when but I heard a lot of crying" and he gave me the actual timeline
@Adira: I hope Logan is feeling better soon and that you can avoid another dr's visit!
J doesn't know how to eat from the spoon either. He does better with some bigger solids that we've experimented but he gets so frustrated! It's funny to watch them figure it out!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@AngelicOne: Have a wonderful trip!!!!!!!!! Sorry M has been fussy, we are right there with you!
@MrsF: Wow!!! Nice!!!! I'm glad it went well and you can get some extra sleep! Post the 6 month stats!
@KayKay: Ohhh absolutely, nice sleep E!
@winniebee: ughhhh sorry for sick kiddos again! Get better boys!
@MamaG: Man, hope you catch a break!
@Adira: Happy 6 Months Logan!!! G started solids just like that and by day 3 was all about it!!!
We had a normal night last night! I heard her whimpering some but she only woke once at 1:30 and for the day at 6:30, but I got an extra hr after some cuddles in our bed!
Yesterday was a hard day she was super clingy and wanted to nurse a lot, I have heaed nursing makes their gums feel better....she would suck for EVER it seemed, usually she is quick!
Ohhhhh she alos took about 2 oz from sippy this morning!!!!! So proud!!!!!!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@MamaG: Oh no. Is K still stick this morning also? When E had it, it hit him Friday/Saturday, Me Monday, and big sis on Wednesday, and was a 1-day thing each time...
@MrsF: That is awesome, good idea having DH get up with him, I don't think it'd work for me as DH is a heavy sleeper, but I could have him try at the 4 am wake-up since he has to get up then for work anyways!
@KayKay: Amazing night of sleep!
@winniebee: Oh no to kids being sick. E is sick every other month it seems too. Our ped. did say it was the worse year he has seen in 10+ years so maybe thats why?
@Adira: Does Logan have asthma also? Our ped. mentioned it as a possibility already, but we'll have to see if he has more wheezing, since this is only the first time. He had us use the inhaler every 4 hours Saturday and Sunday, and we go back in tomorrow to see how he's doing. How often do you guys have to use the inhaler?
@FaithFertility: Awesome on the sippy cup! E hasn't figured ours out yet, but its one where he has to 'suck' to get it out... is yours the same or does it just pour out?
Ethan is LOVING solids, so we feed him at every meal with us now (2x/day), applesauce at Subway yesterday, sweet potatoes last night. He's so cute, and gets mad if he wants more, last night I had to grab a 2nd cube of sweet potatoes.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@josina: He hasn't been diagnosed with asthma yet, but I'm sure he will have it since Xander does (and I did as a kid). For this cold, we've just been using his inhaler every so often, but when he got it prescribed, we did every 4 hours until he improved, then we stopped doing it over night, and then we did it just morning and night until he was over the cold.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@josina: She drinks from it like a bottle, she won't hold it yet, she has to suck but the spout it small and hard so she kind of chews/sucks it...lol It does have a small white piece that can pop off and let the milk pour out, I did that a few times to show milk was in it..lol We are using tommy tippie stage 1

Ugggh sooo behind... I will catch up... Eventually!
@FaithFertility: So sorry G has been so miserable with teething! I gotta ask the dr to check on her teething status on Friday. I have no idea if her craziness is due to teething, or her leap (going through leap 5 right now). We had a pretty horrible night so I'm quite zombie-ish at work. Thank God the boss is not in!
@whenoceansrise: I'm so sorry the 1st night was so hard! I'm in a sleep training group on FB when I was researching it... It does seem like if you do it, you have to be 100%. I think it's a great idea for you to leave. It seems like most babies take 2-3 days avg to 'get it'. Hope it's better tonight!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@josina: That is great! Their poop though... Man mine stink now and she only gets solids once a day!
@Adira: oh man, poor guy! Hopefully starting solids gives him some distraction!
@FaithFertility: Oo I didn't read about G taking even more in the sippy. Yay!
@MamaG: @KayKay: Yay for awesome sleep!

@snowjewelz:sorry for your awful night... they stink and even worse when you have to go to work I'm sure!!

@FaithFertility: And I haven't even had any caffeine! Her naps were so good that day so I had high hopes for night time!

We had J's six month appointment this morning. Little chunker is 60% in weight and 20% in height. Oh boy...
Short and fat aside though - she was very happy with his growth, milestones, etc. He's 17lbs15oz, and 26 inches long He did well with the vaccines, took a little catnap at the grocery store and is napping in his crib now. His ped was encouraging us to try to soothe him other than feeding him at night as well. I'm sure it won't be that easy and I certainly want to feed him if he's hungry, but it's nice to have her tell us that he definitely doesn't *need* to eat every few hours at night.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@FaithFertility: So glad that your night went better! Great that she's doing well with a sippy too. You've worked so hard on that
@snowjewelz: Sorry about your night
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MrsF: LOL! I'm sure it'll even out eventually! Besides, chunky babies are just cute
I'm okay with bad nights here & there... I thought I had the "formula" just right but it seems like teething/leap 5 is just messing everything up!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@MrsF: awwww sounds perfect to me! He is a growing boy!!!! Shots are stinky though!
I hear you on the MOTN feeds, it's hard!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: MOTN feeds aren't hard at all, I am happy when I only have those as opposed to her completely waking up wanting to play and would not sleep whatsoever for 2 hrs But I also sleep right next to her so it's pretty easy to plop the boob in half asleep.
pomelo / 5298 posts
We are surviving. No more sickness from anyone (yet). C is napping after her lunch of banana and yogurt. We are sticking to bland foods for her today. She's not completely thrilled about it.
K has spit up some (and sometimes more than her normal). And she's still sneezing and coughing some. This little one has done me in. I don't feel super-mom'ish at all with her. But I'm accepting it and owning it.
I just hope the day continues and we can return to normal life tomorrow.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@MrsF: Good checkup! I'm impressed with your DH's ability to soothe last night. I've tried that too. We've been hit or miss, some nights she will sleep through, others up at 2:00. And if she wakes at 2:00 there is no soothing, it's the bottle only to get her back to sleep.
