I can't get her to stop "snaking" 1 week growth spurt?????? We are 9 days old? ???
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@BandDmommy: Enjoy! I think we'll go out maybe around the 2 month mark since I plan to start pumping daily after next week (her 1 month mark), as long as my supply is there!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: I agree! I have been snacking on Christmas cookies all day long!
I don't think I've lost weight... I'm down I think 15 lbs but I hear that 10 lbs is pretty much the baby, placenta, etc. I've been at the same weight for like a week now! And BF makes me so hungry!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: Yay! It's nice to get out of the house! I get like 1.5 hrs to myself every week to just go to Target or go return/exchange stuff.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@snowjewelz: oh me too. And my in laws are great cooks. I have only lost 13 and have 17 more to go. Basically exact same thing happened last time and I didn't lose muh more until after 6w
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: I hope that I will loose more later too, maybe once I start going out more instead of just sitting at home as a milk cow for now! I was horrified at some of the holiday pics we took; I looked chunky!!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@snowjewelz: oh yeah I'm chunky! It's ok. It won't last. I'm chasing around my toddler and def not sitting around much but my appetite is the same as when pregnant. Once I start working out around 6w pp I will feel better.

I'm so behind on this thread!!
@winniebee: I hope R doesn't have a dairy intolerance. That would be such a bummer. And I totally agree about the holidays and weight loss! I think I'm GAINING!
I got some pictures of me with the boys on Christmas and I just look even bigger than I did before!! Gahhh!!
@BandDmommy: That's exciting about dinner! I hope you have fun!!
@FaithFertility: There's a growth spurt between 7-10 days, so you're probably dealing with that!

We had such a fun Christmas yesterday! Logan slept through most of it, but then was wide awake around 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., which actually worked out perfectly, because I was still up too. Then he nursed and did a couple long stretches of sleep for me, which was awesome. And all his sleeping during the day worked out well too because I was able to open presents with the family, eat dinner, and play a board game. It was a fun day! Hope everyone else had a good time!

@Adira: so glad he was cooperative!
I am proud of myself! I can usually only nurse K to sleep.. Tonight I started trying a bed time routine, it was a lil out of whack tho - I fed, then changed and wiped her face so then she was wide awake after but I swaddled and rocked her go sleep in half an hour! Next time I have to remember to change/wipe first then feed and then she will prob sleep sooner...
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: That's awesome!!! I've been able to get Logan to sleep a couple times without nursing him, but it's definitely easier to nurse him to sleep. At night, we tend to change his diaper before I nurse him so that I can put him back in his bassinet as soon as he's done eating. Though sometimes he'll poop right in the middle of nursing and that messes up the whole plan and makes the whole MOTN feed take so much longer!

Can we talk about baby spit up? My first did not spit up but Ryan is a spitter upper and I don't know of it's normal. He eats quickly (suck swallow suck swallow swallow) and I try to get him to slow down but he just guzzles. He doesn't spit up every feed but usually does have a few spit up dribbles. And one bad spit up a day (like gets his outfit soaked).
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: That sounds normal to me! Both Xander and Logan were/are fast eaters and would dribble milk everywhere. And Xander always had one big spit up every single day and Logan is starting to do it too.

@winniebee: Ethan spits up at least once a day, and poor thing, he usually has it come out his nose too. He is a fast eater too.

Ethan I'd one month old today! Crazy, its going by too fast already! Have to share a pic I took tonight:

@Adira: that's the goal here too, although I feel like most times it fails and I'm just wasting diapers .
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: K started to spit up more too; I have no ideas how much is normal!

@snowjewelz: Wow gOod for you! .
I've tried swaddling before feeding, that helps me
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: I think the latch situation is getting better! He still has a bad latch on my right side, but I'm often able to fix it. And he's completely fine on the left side. My nipple pain is definitely manageable and mostly not bad. I never did call an ENT... Though I wonder if I should see an LC to get advice on how to get him to latch better. And then maybe she could check out his mouth and give me advice about his lip tie (if he even has one).

@josina: Logan often has milk come out his nose too! And yay for one month!! Logan is one month on Monday, so we're right behind you. That picture is gorgeous!

@winniebee: my first son had the green mucousy poop and a couple days of just acting inconsolably fussy. He was a boob monster, and started to refuse to nurse. I knew something was wrong. They tested a diaper and found the blood (never had any visible). He was also treated for reflux, and like you, I'm not sure that was necessary. Although, our allergist said they're usually treated together. I ended up continuing to nurse and things finally got better.

Question for you ladies- how many times do you change diapers in the MOTN? Also, are hiccups everyday normal or more of a reflux thing?
I'm starting to notice some issues with nursing and my supply. A latches on and sucks/swallows quickly, but will choke often and latch/unlatch. I'm wondering if my letdown it too strong or if it's something else. I feel like newborn nursing is so challenging!

@winniebee: I hope at doesn't have MSPI! I've been eliminating both for two weeks now and it was no fun over Christmas I was with a few moms yesterday and three out of four of us have had issues with it. It's so common! I'm still not sure about J but I'm going to stick it out at least another two weeks and see if his poop gets better.

@ustechie: I usually try to change every feeding (every two hours) and will change E after nursing one side to wake him back up to nurse the other side. I will sometimes miss one changing if I fall asleep or am just too tired to get up!
E will choke also when starting to nurse sometimes. He is a great latcher so I haven't worried about it too much? He'll just cough a few times and go right back at it.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@ustechie: I change her before every feeding, to wake her more!
G has the hiccups at least 1x a day... she had them in the womb too a lot!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ustechie: I change his diaper before I nurse him in the MOTN (and if I hear him poop mid-feeding, he'll get changed again). Logan has hiccups daily... I think it's normal. My letdown is also strong. Half the time, Logan starts nursing, he'll pull off coughing and choking! I had the same issue with Xander, but he definitely got used to it after a while!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: yea I think an LC can advise if you need to see an ENT! Both our ped and LC saw her tongue tie then referred us.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@ustechie: none as long as I don't hear pooping (it's always with a loud wet fart). Changing diaper always wake her up! If I must, I almost always have to nurse her again

Blah I'm not looking fwd to pumping! K is 1 month this coming Thurs. I'm trying to figure when to pump... Prob after morning feeding like most do? I dont know when I have the most milk!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: With Xander, I used to pump after his morning and afternoon feeds.I wouldn't pump in the evenings because he tended to cluster feed. Sometimes I would pump in the middle of the night if he did a particularly long stretch, but usually I didn't. I'm not looking forward to starting to pump either. I'm going ti start on Monday.
