@winniebee: both of my kids have been big spitters I think as long as they don't seem to be in pain it's normal.

@ustechie: Micah gets the hiccups everyday. Pediatrician said it's normal!
nectarine / 2053 posts
Things are getting easier or I'm just getting used to how hard they are. I haven't had to take any pain medication in the last few days and I try to take a nap during the day to help me not be so tired. Micah had a clogged tear duct but it looks like that's clearing up! We both go back to the doctor on Monday and I will get my stitched taken out. Yay!

@ustechie: I change when I hear or smell poop and if not every other feed usually. I can't let him go all night or he will leak. He gets hiccups too as did my first but I remember that settling down after a month or so?
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
Thanks for chiming in on the spit up! Ryan's poo is back to normal so I don't know whether to cut dairy but I will probably cut back anyways. Night sleep is horrendous here and he sleeps so well during the day. But he's not even 3 wks old yet.
Who is swaddling? Doesn't seem to be helping us so I may just ditch it.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: I have clue if she likes it or hates it! We are only doing it if she can't fall asleep. I think she likes to have her arms out tho.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MrsF: I'm impressed that you survived an elimination diet over the holidays! I hope it's helped.

@winniebee: awwww glad to hear he is doing better!!!
We have the same thing going on her stretches diring the day are sooo much longer at night, I'm trying to keep her up more, but I mean how much can you do with a 10 day old...hahah
We swaddle at night but leave her hands out, she likes them out! I was ready to ditch it to, but it seems to help her stay on her back, or else she will lay on her side, which I know is ok, vut I'm ready for her to flip...lol squirly kid......

@whenoceansrise: awww I had a clogged year duct as a baby my mom said!
Glad you are feeling better!
You need a stitch removed? I'm pretty sure they told me mine would dissolve? Now you ahve me thinking lol
nectarine / 2053 posts
@FaithFertility: I had a c section so maybe mind are different? I'm pretty sure they said they would remove them. But I could be mistaken!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@whenoceansrise: ahhhh I forgot you did! Nice that you are feeling good!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: she is wide awake now too. I thought they can't really stay up for more than an hour but she is just wide eyed! We already did tummy time and talked to her, etc.

@winniebee: We are swaddling. I feel like he sleeps longer in a good swaddle. But Xander never was into being swaddled. We stopped swaddling him around 2 weeks!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: Xander used to stay awake for up to 2 hours!! I was really worried about it, but he was content and not fussy, so apparently that was his normal.

we swaddled with arms out for the first 3 weeks. then we started double swaddling her with arms in at night and it seemed to work for longer sleep stretches. although last night she houdini-ed an arm out by getting it out of her sleeve altogether!!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@KayKay: I assume eventually it will result in better sleep but it's just not right now. Ugh!
pear / 1961 posts
@winniebee: yeah we just kept trying it randomly and didn't worry about doing it if it didn't seem to help. it's a pain to do/re-do for nighttime changing, especially if they fight it.
does anyone else have the noisiest sleeper in the world? seriously, there are nights when one of us takes E to the living room because all of her grunting, hiccups, & other bodily noises while sleeping are keeping us awake. if her bedroom wasn't 2 floors below me, i'd probably already have moved her to her own room. but 2 flights of stairs everytime she needs me at night is NOT happening right now....
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: she literally havent had deep sleep the whole day! She did give me a 3 hour stretch tho (but it was by co sleeping and not putting her back in rnp). Ended up nursing her now.. I feel like some days are pretty routine and then there are days like today I can't even figure her out!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@KayKay: yes.. I'm always up whenever she makes even one peep! Sometimes she makes one cry, or even just yelled a few times but stayed asleep. DH gets really worried cuz sometimes she sounds like she can't breathe.

@snowjewelz: @josina: Cute pics! I tried to take some 1 month pics yesterday but the lighting in our apt sucks, so they aren't the greatest.
I haven't had a chance to comment on anything lately, but I've been reading while M is sleeping at night (usually while holding him because that was the only way he'd sleep). He had a 1 month appt yesterday & has gained 3lbs since birth.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@KayKay: J is SO noisy while sleeping. Grunting, moaning and groaning. I feel like we spend the whole night sleeping with one night open trying to figure out if he's waking up or not. Ugh.
We moved M to her own room at 8 weeks, and now I remember why!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@AngelicOne: 3lbs is great! I have no idea how much J weighs. His 1 month appointment was delayed a little because of the holidays. He looks chunky though
eggplant / 11861 posts
@snowjewelz: G does the same makes some strange noises as if she can't breath, ughhh being a new parent
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@AngelicOne: Nice about the weight gain! It's always such s relief to know they are eating and gaining well! K only gained 3 oz between 1st & 2nd week (on top of gaining back her birth weight) so I'm anxious for her 1 mo appt!
Did you try to increase the exposure in Photoshop?
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MrsF: one time I wasted precious sleeping time cuz I really thought she was waking up but ended up just staring at her for another 20 min!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@KayKay: oh yeah noisy baby here too! We moved Our eldest at 1m Bc we couldn't handle all the noise!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
We actually don't have a 1m visit - just 2w then 8w. I may take this peanut in at a month anyways for a weight check just to make sure we are still on track.
persimmon / 1050 posts
@snowjewelz: I don't have photoshop, but I did play around in iPhoto & got this decent picture attached below.
M had gained 4oz from the time we left the hospital to an appt we had 5 days later. He went from 6lbs 8ozs to 6lbs 12ozs and is now 9lbs 12ozs. The Dr said his weight was low compared to his length, so he needed the 3lbs. lol Now he's 50% for it all.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@AngelicOne: so pensive heh! What a cutie.
So we gave Kara her first bath! She didn't enjoy it much haha. Up till now we had been wiping her down. Are you guys doing anything to prevent cradle cap? I totally forgot to brush her scalp. Also I wasn't sure how much to lotion her so I just did it lightly. Any other tips and tricks! I pretty much just watched a YouTube video and followed it
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@AngelicOne: Wow! 3 lbs in one month is awesome!! Congrats on the awesome weight gain! And that's such a cute picture!!
@winniebee: Same. We have the two week appointment and then don't have another until two months! It's such a long time to go without knowing how well they are gaining!!
@snowjewelz: We're not doing anything to prevent cradle cap. Xander had it really bad, but they eventually grow out of it, so I'm not too worried about it. I asked our pediatrician about using lotion on Logan since he seems to have pretty dry skin, but she said it's normal since he was living in liquid for 9 months and now isn't, so we can use lotion if we want to, but don't have to.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
I feel like Logan's been eating a lot today! I'm still waiting for him to start going 3 hours between eating, but we're still doing 2 hours during the day it seems. I'm hoping all that nursing means he'll do a couple long stretches tonight!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Adira: we have been going every 2-2.5 during the day today (I've been forcing second boob and it seems to cut down on the request for hourly feeds) and I really hope we get at least one longer stretch. Doubtful! I need to force the second boob overnight but man I'm just so tired that when he passes out after 1 I just want to go back to sleep.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
Kara is going only 2-2.5 hrs too, sometimes we do get 3-4 hrs stretch, it's all sporadic!
We are having a really hard time putting her to bed if she isn't nursing to sleep! I can rock and sing and swaddle her for like half an hour and she is either wide awake or will cry when put down! By then it's time to eat again!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: Logan almost always eats from both sides. If he only eats from one side, he wants to nurse every hour too! At night, he'll often take one side, fall asleep for 5-10 minutes, then take the other side. Nursing sessions take forever it seems!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
I need to get better at forcing both sides at night... He usually falls asleep after 10 minutes and I'm so tires I join him. I started setting a timer for 20 minutes to wake me up if I fall asleep!
I get two hour stretches during the day and that of I'm lucky at night, but some are only an hour. I'm trying to hold him to 2-1/2 hours during the day... And considering supplementing the last fees before bed, I've read that may get me a longer stretch? Anyone tried?
Lol... Ethan just scared himself when he burped during feeding.
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@AngelicOne: cute pic. Did you make or buy the month stickers? Is he out of newborn clothes now? E is just starting to outgrow his nb sleep &plays. @snowjewelz: Luckily E loves bath time. We have been brushing his head like the nurse showed us, but I hadn't heard of cradle cap, what is it?
