@MrsF: I'm sure my weep moments are coming, they just haven't hit yet!

@josina: Thanks for sharing E's schedule! Hoping my son takes a page out of his book tonight!
I know many of you are second-time mamas, but we came across this article today during a loooong afternoon of trying to get N to nap (5 hours in total, ahem...). Just in case anyone else wants sleep insight! http://www.askdrsears.com/topics/health-concerns/sleep-problems/8-infant-sleep-facts-every-parent-should-know

OMG, Logan just let me get a 3 hour stretch of sleep! I feel like a new woman!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ChiCalGoBee: Fantastic article! Thanks for sharing! I had forgotten about the light sleep phase that babies start out in and have definitely been trying to put Logan down too early only to have that wake him up!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@BandDmommy: And he just gave me a 2 hour stretch!! I've officially gotten more sleep last night than the last two combined! I feel so good!

Both Xander and Hubs are sick. I REALLY hope me and the baby don't catch it!! Or at least the baby doesn't catch it. I can't imagine how difficult that would be to get him to nurse with a stuffy nose or a sore throat..

Ladies that have had newborn photos taken (or are planning to), how old is baby at time of photo shoot? I'm not doing anything professional, but was thinking I'd try to take some pictures myself and wondering when the ideal time for that is.

@Adira: a week old exactly. Best to do it early when they are sleeping a lot

I should have had a full beer last night, baby girl needs to be surgically attached to my boob. I'm praying this is growth spurt.
Mothers helper starts this afternoon. Brennan is thrilled and told me all the fun things they are going to do this afternoon.

I'm making batch of lactation cookies this weekend. I'll share recipe if they turnout yummy.

@Adira: E was also a week old exactly. The photographer had a small space heater on him so she could put him in different poses without waking him.
Of course we were doing a naked baby shot of him and I and he pee'd all over me. He seems to only pee on mommy though, at least once a day. love him!

@BandDmommy: @josina: Thanks ladies! Guess I should try to do something this week if I can! I need it to stop being cloudy so I can have some good lighting in the house.
@BandDmommy: How old is she now? I know there's a growth spurt between 2-3 weeks, so maybe that's what she's in? And definitely let me know about the cookies if they turn out well!

Also curious about the cookies. I started oust meal with flax seed for breakfast today. It will be my go to for awhile.
K was almost two weeks for her pictures. We did Cs at 10 days. I think under two weeks is usually good.
K was really fussy yesterday. I foresee lots of gas issues for her, just like her big sister.

8 days out and my vag/tears are killing me, I think it hurts more now than it did right after... I have a ibroprofin subscription yet but ran out of norco. Normal or should I call the ob?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@josina: How badly did you tear? I have a 2nd degree tear and it's not really bothering much 6 days out. I think if the pain is getting worse, something could be wrong.

@josina: if the pain is getting worse I wo probably call just to be safe. Sorry you're not more comfortable!

Much better night for us! 3 hour stretches. How was everyone else's night?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@BandDmommy: So far my night has been decent! Got 1.5 hours earlier, followed by a 3 hour stretch! This last stretch was only about 30 minutes, but I'm still feeling pretty good!

My ear/throat are sore this morning. I really don't want to be sick. Unfortunately all the yuck unless is bad locally. Flu, strep, seasonal allergies.
pomelo / 5660 posts
@MamaG: oh no! I Hope it's just a little cold and not the flu. I've heard the flu is BAD this year.
nectarine / 2028 posts
@BandDmommy: We had a rough night and day yesterday, so I wass preparing for a horrid night. He went down at 6:30 and I decided NOT to wake him...went to 10:45! Of course that stretch would have been way better for us were it starting at 10:45(!), but he needed the sleep soooo badly. The rest of the night has been 2-3 hours, and I'm hoping for another little stretch (only 5:30 here).@josina: I agree, call your doc. You want to make sure something bad didn't come up down there!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@BandDmommy: Oh, okay! Sounds like we were on a similar schedule for those last couple feeds!
@ChiCalGoBee: Hope you were able to get some sleep!! I used to go to bed at 7:00 when Xander was a newborn because that was when he did one of his longest stretches.
pomelo / 5660 posts
@Adira: I go to sleep at 8 pm. I don't get to see much of DH but I figure that will change once D is older and on a schedule. So in like 4 months or so.. lOL..
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@BandDmommy: haha, I went to bed at 8:00 the first couple nights, but the last few, Logan's been keeping me up until 9:00 or 10:00!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@BandDmommy: Not at all! It felt late! And even before Logan was born, my bed time was 9:00!
pomelo / 5298 posts
I can't imagine going to bed so early. I probably should but I absolutely hate waking up MOTN. So I go to bed after 11:00 and I only have two times to wake up. I'd probably feel better if I went to bed earlier and got a bit more sleep.
I know it will be different when I have to go back to work. I'm already dreading trying to get a morning routine together to get us all out the door on time every morning.

And, my absolute favorite thing about having a newborn is the little smile that comes across her face as she falls asleep. Followed up immediately with a little chuckle. If only she did that forever.
2nd time moms, does your older kiddo suddenly seem larger and older. I swear C grew 6 inches and gained 20 pounds when I gave birth to K. I think I never realized her size until I had a newborn to put next to her. Everything about her seems so big now. Her fingers, ankles, thighs! She is a big three year old but she just seems so much BIGGER now.
