@KayKay: We have two sided jealousy at our house. Neither of the girls are ever happy it seems. They fight over us and toys.

@KayKay: currently it's the leap of programs! it's a pretty crazy leap!
@whenoceansrise: just keep offering! K figured out the straw cup first, and later on just sprouted ones or those no-spill regular cups. I also got her a camelbak b/c she would steal my all the time too!
@josina: oh no! K already got her toe pricked last check up and was a little low on iron too. I actually have to bring a poop sample to dr's this appt; I forgot for what!

@winniebee: Aw, sorry about the awful sleep! Cayla didn't sleep through the night until she was ~14 months old, so there is still hope!

@MamaG: yes, jealousy and fighting over toys...especially Ryan's new birthday toys....ugh!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: @MamaG: We're dealing with jealousy here too, mostly related to toys. Xander doesn't want Logan anywhere near anything he's playing with (unless it's just to watch), and Logan wants whatever Xander has. I spend most of my time keeping the two of them apart and listening to whining!

2 questions: Does your pedi give anibiotics for just a cold?!
Mine did/does not!
G is on 2 pouches a few pieces of cheese and puffs as all she will eat!
Is that OK?!
She is drinking pretty much the norm, I threw in a nursing session after a nap fight to calm her down!?
Wet diapers and all is good other wise!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@FaithFertility: antibiotics are for infections so I would be sort of alarmed if my doc wanted to give one just for a cold! G sounds like she's doing ok food wise. My older hates eating while sick and makes up for it after the fact. I bet she starts eating like a horse when she feels better
eggplant / 11861 posts
@winniebee: That is what I thought! Thanks for reassurance, hate seeing her sick!

@Adira: Teeth are overrated! Jack is miserable from the molars
@josina: J is totally the same way lately! Incredibly clingy and crying real tears the moment I put him down. I just prepped all the breakfast stuff for the 2 kids (milk in cups, oatmeal ready to have water added to it, everyone's antibiotics out etc) because he is screaming the whole time I'm trying to get things ready and I can't handle it!
@MamaG: Being one IS hard! Glad to hear that K's ears are clear and I hope that she's recovered from the shots and blood draws. Poor kiddo
@josina: Sorry that he needs another blood draw At least you know! I hope it's easy to correct.

@KayKay: @winniebee: I'm sorry you guys are struggling with sleep! You both deserve a vacation!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@MamaG: @winniebee: Definitely fights over toys in our house. They both want whatever the other one has...
honeydew / 7283 posts
@FaithFertility: Definitely not antibiotics for a cold (colds are caused by viral infections and antibiotics are for bacterial infections). No need to go to the Dr for a cold. I feel like we're there every day already
As long as she's drinking enough I wouldn't worry
pomelo / 5660 posts
@FaithFertility: I don't normally go to doctor for colds. However if I fear HFM, croup, ear infection, etc I will go to doctor. Not much any doctor can do for a common cold.

@MrsF: @BandDmommy: Thanks ladies I thought so, but wanted to make sure!
FTM of course first cold I run straight to DRs...lol

@MrsF: These clingy babies are so cute yet so (lovingly) annoying at the same time! I guess we should appreciate that they want us while they still do.
I am suuuper lucky that big sis is around to help me still get things done. Props to you mom's of 2 little ones!
@FaithFertility: Hope G is feeling better soon! E's first fever I totally freaked out, and I know I at least called for his first couple colds. My go-to for E's colds was baby vicks, humidifier + steamy bathroom, and warm apple juice (per nurse).
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: K has had stomach bug, and fever (from a virus), and general colds... We've only been to the doctor with the fever since she broke out in hives so I wanted to make sure it was nothing else. We never even went in for the stomach bug. Now she def has a very congested cough, and I have it too We actually have yet to even give her Tylenol!
It really sucks that there is no good remedy; when it's cold/congestion I just rub baby Vicks on her and turn up the humidifier, suck out her nose regularly, etc.

So K lately will FIGHT us going in the highchair. She will arch her back and just will not sit in there. She only does this at dinner time!
Right now I just let her sit on my lap to start eating, and then move her there a little later. She usually will still fight then DH just kinda forces her in and buckles her and she does eventually calm down.
But man! These tantrums! And in the morning she KNOWS I leave so she will not let me go at all. DH distracts her but she knows what we're doing to her and will not let me out of her sight or she will become hysterical!

@MrsScallop: so good to see you here! can't believe they are all turning one. Hope Charlie has a fantastic birthday! sorry about the molars

@Adira: we only have four teeth completely in, and one canine that has just popped through. That I know of, anyway; he hates it when I try to check!

@winniebee: nope, H is probably the worst sleeper of this bunch, don't you worry He has never STTN, i don't think, and is always up multiple times at night. Multiple. Am hoping I can work with him more once we move into a two bedroom this weekend...

@BandDmommy: I refused to call him a toddler before he turned one. Now I call him a toddler
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@josina: aw man! Well, H has figured out how to open our doors, so he doesn't really get annoyed when I close doors, he just opens them and follows me in. Haha. Such a stinker.
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@whenoceansrise: I don't think we are near weaning either. Although H has gotten much better at eating lately. He does love his straw cup, but generally only drinks water; I've dried cows milk a few times and he kind of spits it out. Hopefully he will start doing better with it soon, but the ped said as long as they are getting other dairy (cheese, milk, etc), it's not a big deal if he doesn't like milk.
Which straw cups have you tried? H really loves the skip hop ones we have, one with a giraffe, one with a monkey.
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@FaithFertility: nope, I don't even take H in for a cold. Haha. Bad mom.

@snowjewelz: @BandDmommy: ha, thanks. Yes, finally moving! ugh, and I can't even get excited about the extra room yet because I'm stressed about moving. Sigh!!
pomelo / 5298 posts
@theotherstark: I hope the move goes smooth and sleep filled nights are in your future. When C learned how to open doors, we started using the knob covers. We never took them off our laundry room door and our door to the garage.
I'm not sure what we will do about the bathroom. For now we just keep the door closed.

@BandDmommy: C calls K, her baby, our baby, baby K. I think she will forever be a baby. She's our last, so I can see it sticking for a long time.

@theotherstark: Good luck with your move! Sorry about the multiple night wakings still. These boys!!!!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@snowjewelz: J really fights going in to his high chair and especially the car seat. In the car he settles down as soon as he's buckled, but in the high chair he freaks out until the food is in front of him.
@theotherstark: Good luck with the move!

@josina: he does like to take my water botles, but just so he can chew on the top of it. haha!
nectarine / 2053 posts
@snowjewelz: m does that when we put him in his car seat! i hate it!
@theotherstark: he's getting better with solids, but i definitely wouldn't think he'd be getting enough nutrition without breast milk. he loves water out of his bottle- i've tried cows milk only once and he spit it out. he turns one though next week and we'll see his doctor then so i'll definitely be asking him for suggestions!
nectarine / 2053 posts
@theotherstark: p.s good luck with your move! you'll love having the extra room!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@whenoceansrise: @MrsF: Thanks for the commiseration! I'm half way between like aww it's okay mommy do whatever you want (well, carseat wise you can't take him back out lol). And DH is like get in there I don't care if you cry, haha. We all know who the sucker is here
