@josina: Thanks! Last night was a awful! I am a zombie today...lol

How many words do your LOs say? I feel like we're behind with speech... Logan only really says "mama" and it's not even a distinct word. It's more like "mmmmmaaaa-mmmmmmaaaa-mmmmmaaaaa-mmmaaaa"

@Adira: Not a ton. She says: Mama, Dada, Brenn-n, puppy, paci, ball, more, bye bye and milk.
pear / 1961 posts
@adira: E only definitely says "hi dog" (I think she thinks it's one word?), "hi", "bye", and "kate". She also tries to say "woof", "baa", and "roar". And there are maybe some other sounds that she repeats for certain things so they probably count *technically* as a word but no one else would ever understand it. She also points a finger to an open palm (kinda like a bastardized version of "more" in ASL) that has become her way of saying "i want..." and then points at whatever it is.
I was joking with DH last night that she is never going to call me "mama" because she only hollers at me when she can't get my attention and really want something...and then it sounds like a total teenager saying "MOM!" haha.

@Adira: Ryan says mama and dada, but I'm not even sure he knows he's saying that. Tyler was the same at this age and didn't really pick up "real" words until 14 months. He was totally caught up by 18 months and I haven't been able to shut him up since....so I'm guessing Ryan will be the same.

K is a chatterbox. She says -
Mama
Daddy
Doggy (in Chinese)
Duckie
Hi
Bye
Happy
Apple
Please (peese)
Cheese (chee)
Video (weewo) This one is bad, b/c I let her watch videos on my phone here & there
Milk (in Chinese)
Owl
Moo (for the cow)
Go (another bad one b/c the kid in the video says go go go)
Flower (kinda.. She's like Fawo)
Woof

@Adira: micah only says mama and dada and sometimes i'm not even sure if he knows what he's saying.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@KayKay: Seriously! K says daddy way more. Mama was her first word, but most of the time when she wants me it's just "Ehhhh! Ahhh! Waaaah!"

@winniebee: @whenoceansrise: Sounds like our boys are all right after the same spot, speech-wise, so that makes me feel better!

@MrsScallop: yay!! happy birthday to Charlie. Love seeing him in the shirt!!

@Adira: ha, H doesn't really say any words yet. He says mama and dada, but it's more mamama and he doesn't really look at me and point and say it. He says boof, for our dog Buster. He will say yum yum for food, baba for bye bye (and his water bottle), baa for balls and other B words, and ma for the maps we have hanging above his changing table, nana for no, but that is about it! He is vocalizing a lot more lately, though, and saying lots of different sounds (his new favorite is something like gullygullygully. Haha), so I'm not concerned.

@snowjewelz: @BandDmommy: so impressed by all their words!! Chatty girls.

@snowjewelz: I actually have heard that girls' language skills tend to develop sooner than boys. Haha.

@Adira: K isn't overly verbal (aside from just screeching). She does say words that sound like mama, dada and ball. She also says no no no no. She can follow commands and that's what I look for more in this age. C was very similar. I believe our ped expects 3 words by 18 months.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@theotherstark: hahaha yeah k too! her favorite thing to say sounds like "wheel o wheel o" lol or like the sound of a police siren
Do I just talk too much?!?! lol
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@snowjewelz: haha, H says mamama mamama when he is upset. I think he just means "I'm upset," and not that he is specifically calling for me. Haha.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: At least from my last birth month thread, it seemed like the girls were more vocal before the boys. Xander caught up by 20 months though, so hopefully the same is true for Logan!
@MamaG: Oh, only 3 by 18 months?? Okay! That makes me feel better!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@snowjewelz: girls tend to talk much earlier than boys.

@MamaG: phew, that makes me feel better! H follows commands well (ahem. When he wants to. Stubborn boy), so that's good.
pomelo / 5298 posts
I just found this... maybe it was 3 by 15 months? Gosh, I don't remember. I know we didn't talk about it at all at our 12 month appt. I remember being really concerned with C, but she just started talking in sentences! Seriously, she wasn't much of a talker (and used a lot of sign) and then around 20 months old she just exploded. And she's never stopped

@MrsScallop: Glad Charlie got his birthday goodies! He looks so great
@FaithFertility: What a night! I hope she's feeling better soon!
@Adira: poor kid with his ears!

@Adira: J's still not saying much of anything. He says dada and mama, but it's only in the past few days that I'm really sure that he knows what it means. I'm pretty sure he says "ball" too. It's so different for me because M was such an early talker - she had a whole vocabulary by this time! Every kid is different though

@snowjewelz: @Adira: G is a HUGE chatter box, I call her a parrot!!!

@MrsScallop: so happy you like the package. Charlie is so cute!!

I can't believe all the sick babies....we are coming down with something new I think!? Ryan literally just stopped coughing for the first time in a month.
Kids Are away for the weekend -- operation pack the house! I already miss Ryan....older one too but Ryan because we still nurse!!

@winniebee: awww, have fun packing...lol, but seriously sleep in!

@theotherstark: Hahaha gullygully G has a sound that sounds like Bayou...bayou....lol

@winniebee: good luck packing!! Us too. We will need all the wine after this

@winniebee: Good luck packing!
So it seems Charlie wants to join in on the no-sleep fun. The nurses don't say much about it other than "he didn't sleep much," so I don't know if he is cranky at night or not. If he is, I am not sure anyone knows/notices either as they just check on him every 2 hours unless an alarm is going off and he can't really cry. Are the other anti-STTNers sleeping well/extra during the day or just not sleeping day or night? I don't remember this specifically with big sis, but she was generally a terrible sleeper until a few months after 1 year.
pear / 1961 posts
@mrsscallop: our daytime sleep is generally fine but e has been waking up 2x per night lately...which is basically like her sleep was back at like 2 months I'm not sure if it's teething or ears or regression or what. If it's not better in a week or so, we may have to try something new. I am just longing for the days when she used to STTN! it seems like so long ago
@winniebee: pack pack pack! Sleep sleep sleep!
persimmon / 1050 posts
@winniebee: Have fun packing!
@MrsScallop: M hardly ever STTN (has only done it a handful of times), but usually takes short naps (30 - 45 min) during the day. Up until he turned one, he'd take 3 of them, now he's down to two-ish. Though this morning he took an hr & 20 min nap, so he is capable! LOL Plus he still wakes twice during the middle of the night.
@Adira: M says mama & dada and that's it. There's gaa, baa, naa & other sounds that don't mean much lol
pomelo / 5660 posts
D is starting daycare in January and will officially be moved to one nap. She is still napping twice a day, each nap 2 to 3 hours a day. So, should be interesting transition.
