I'm on treadmill, B and D are asleep so I have some time to write more than one sentence. So, DH got us life insurance as part we had to have physical. My husband is a workaholic and never put priority in exercise and healthy eating. As a result he's been very successful at work but gained lots of weight since college. He was Olympic level swimmer in college. As part of physical we found out his weight has caused his heart to enlarge. At first we were scared he was going to have heart attack. The idea of him having a heart attack really opened our eyes. We have started eating healthy and working out regularly. He had since lost 6 pounds and found out with exercise and healthy diet his enlarged heart can improve. I feel like this has been a cautionary tale. Life is short and live life to its fullest.

@BandDmommy: I'm glad he found out early via the required physical! DH sucks at taking care of his health too (never went for any check ups or routine care!) and I would keep telling him if he would want me or our daughter to live the same way!
It's already s good things to be healthy as a family

@snowjewelz: I told him he wasn't dying young and leaving me with kids.

@BandDmommy: I totally get him working hard to provide for the family but it's def time to take care of himself so he can enjoy his family! A very good reminder for all of us!

@snowjewelz: we introduced a paci at 3 weeks. He's not a huge fan but it's helped a few times when he's crazy in the evening and I can take the comfort nursing anymore.
I've been pumping a few times a week and DH has given him a few bottles. Having a good stash will definitely make going back to work less stressful!

@snowjewelz: we are waiting until the 4 week mark to introduce paci. Depending on how he does though because he seems to be doing fine without one.
We've been doing great. Micah has gained back his birth weight and then some. I can't believe he's two weeks old today!

Just wanted to post my thank you message here too so you would all see it
To my fellow December mamas:
Thank you for all the love and support. I know when we all started out on this board so many months ago we were so excited and happy for each other. We went through our pregnancies together and we will always have that connection. I know there are no words to convey what's in your hearts. I cannot adequately express what's in my heart either. All I have are my memories of our sweet Ava Quinn and such gratitude for friends all over who are helping me keep her memory alive in their hearts. Thank you for letting me share my heartache. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Thank you for the past 40+ weeks of friendship. Every baby is such a miracle - hold your little ones extra close bc each one is such an incredible gift
And a special thank you to snowjewelz, MamaG, Winniebee, BandMommy, Faithfertity, Oliviabolivia, Mrs.Scallop, Adira, Cheert16 and Magnolia for the thoughtful cards and beautiful gifts for our family - we will treasure the mementos. I know my husband will be especially happy to have something to carry with him

@sandy: your heart is amazing. You are such a kind person and I'm eternally thankful for sharing pregnancy with you. Even as your world tumbled out of your control you were so gracious and kind commenting on my daughter's birth. I think of your family daily and hope for healing and strength.

@BandDmommy: Oh wow! That's scary about the enlarged heart, but great you found out about it BEFORE he had a heart attack and he's taking steps to be healthier!
@FaithFertility: We won't very doing anything special tonight. I probably won't even stay up to see the ball drop.
@sandy: So much love to you and your family.

@sandy: you're a model of strength and dignity through all of this and the type of mom I want to be. So much for you and your family!

Oh I'm definitely not staying up for the ball drop! We got on a homeland binge last night and I didn't go to bed til 1030. 7 when my toddler woke came very early....with 4 wakeups. Maybe 2015 will bring better sleep.....
I'm thinking of going to an LC this week. I feel like Ryan is abnormally burpy and spit uppy and maybe I can do something to improve that by better latch or positioning. I know I have an oversupply and forceful let down and he just chugs away to keep up. Or maybe just cut the dang dairy already.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@winniebee: I feel you! We rented a movie last night! Sorry about your little guy, I think an LC is a good idea, now that thy say it I might look into one too..... my nipples still kill!
Home nurse and pedi have seen her latch, so what gives?
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@sandy: so glad they made it to you okay - I've been thinking so much of you and your family.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@FaithFertility: that's frustrating!!! I have literally no pain not have I when he nurses so I don't know if it's his latch or just me having too much milk.

Curious if any if you second time moms have thoughts on this: the under-side of my left beast (not the nipple) is really sore, almost feels bruised. I can hardly hold the baby on that side because it's so tender, but it doesn't hurt to nurse. I think it might be a little red but it's hard to see. I haven't been engorged recently, even pumped yesterday and I don't feel any lumps, and no fever. I never had this feeling with M. I thought maybe it was from pumping but it's further onto the breast than anywhere the pump would touch. Thoughts?

@winniebee: I cut dairy and soy 2.5 weeks ago and I really don't think there's been any improvement . This stuff is such a guessing game! It's so hard. I hope you get some answers (and some more sleep!)
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MrsF: I've sort of been waiting for the tell tale green slimy poo or blood in poo before doing anything about it. I got an LC appt on Tuesday so will definitely get her thoughts on this. I hate to give up dairy unnecessarily. I'm sorry you haven't seen any improvement Has his poop been off? I tend to think the brushing you are feeling is a clogged duct but I don't have any experience with it.

Isn't 2 hours a long time for a newborn to be up?? Mine fights sleep lately and I really need to work to get him down for naps. He is routinely up for 2 hours and I know it's way too long!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@winniebee: yeah, he's had the green slimy poop almost since day 1. Now I wonder if there's something else I should be eliminating.
pomelo / 5660 posts
@winniebee: 2 hours is the max.. Is he showing clues of tiredness before 2 hours?
