Other than the throw up in the car, the day has been normal up until 30 minutes ago K kept crying and wanting to be held. She was also chewing her fingers so I went to get her a teething ring. She threw it. I asked if she was tired and she went to the gate to our stairs. I opened it and she went up and to her room. She's now asleep (at 5:15!). She ate, napped and acted normal all day. Boo.

@MamaG: Awww poor baby, but I am impressed with her putting herself to bed
pomelo / 5298 posts
She only slept about 40 minutes which is okay with me. But didn't really eat any dinner. Behavior and temp is normal. So strange.

@MamaG: poor thing! Hope it clears up quickly. That's great she went and put herself to bed though! When H was sick last week, he took a nap at 5 too
@winniebee: aw man. I basically could have written this, except H was up from essentially 9-12 scream-crying every time I put him down. He would fall back asleep, I'd put him in the crib, and he would wake up 2-15 mins later. Ugh, the worst. I finally gave him Tylenol around midnight and I think that helped a bit. Pretty sure he has a bunch of teeth coming through in the back, although he is still runny-nosed from being sick last week. These kids!!

You guys. It never ceases to amaze me how smart these kids are, and how much they soak up!! I am in such a habit now of talking out loud when I'm around H, just narrating what I am doing, what we will be doing next, etc, and I'm still so surprised when I say something to myself like, and then we will go read your Barnyard Dance book, or eat dinner, or whatever, and H goes and grabs that specific book, runs to his high-chair, etc. Like, oh yeah, I guess he really does listen to my babbling! Haha. (Guess I should probably really make the attempt to stop swearing ) I know this is a very 'duh' post but, these aren't little babies anymore!!

@theotherstark: so true!
Another good day at daycare. The lady is amazed with her, she said that D likes to grab books, take them to a nook, cuddle in and "read them." She mumbles to herself as she flips pages, points and laughs at objects. She is the only walker in her class and the lady says the other babies just stare at her in amazement, much to D's delight. She's a show-off!! I asked if she was the oldest and she's not.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@theotherstark: OMG yes! Crazy how much they soak in, one of the many reasons I am loving this age!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@BandDmommy: Awesome! She has such a sweet little personality it seems!!
eggplant / 11861 posts
G's new thing is heading straight to her high chair either right when we get home or with in 10 minutes
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@BandDmommy: I'm so glad she's doing so well at daycare!! I can't remember; is she at the same place as B? H is a bookworm too, and does the same thing with his books. It's really the only time he'll sit still right now. Ha. I love it!
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@FaithFertility: Bahaha my kinda girl! That's hilarious. And yes, this is such a fun age!!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@theotherstark: nice, I feel like I need to push G to play independently more! She is crazy clingy to me!
If I'm home just us she is at my feet or crawling up my legs!
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@FaithFertility: ha. H will do some independent play. Mainly, it's pulling out all of his books (many, many books) and "reading" them to himself. Or, climbing up onto the couch, our bed, etc. Most of his toys don't keep him occupied for more than 5 mins or so. And he does like being underfoot when I'm in the kitchen!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@theotherstark: Yep, seems about right....if she is "playing" independently it is with or on something that is not mommy approved....lol
She did however play the other day for like 20 minutes I was SHOKED!

@MamaG: Poor kid
@winniebee: Oh man! We have the same thing going on here - J was definitely not done with his last cold and I swear he's started a new one! Horrible. I hope R's passes quickly!
@theotherstark: Wow! That's amazing with the specific book. Not little babies any more!
@BandDmommy: Glad she's doing so well at daycare!

@BandDmommy: glad its going so well!
@theotherstark: smart boy!! this sounds terrible but I just don't pay enough attention to Ryan's milestones because I am so preoccupied with his tornado of a brother sometimes....oops! But he learned how to use a fork this week and when I was snapping to a song he was trying to snap too, which I thought was pretty impressive

@MrsF: is it May yet? I can't take any more illness!!!

@MamaG: Such a big girl going to bed on her own!
@theotherstark: @winniebee: sounds JUST like E 2 nights ago but from 1 - 3 am. What is with these babies? I will have to check his teeth, he hasn't gotten any in months so maybe he is teething again.
@theotherstark: @BandDmommy: Love our little book worms! Ethan is the same, hope it stays that way!
@FaithFertility: Ethan's independent play is usually getting in trouble too, lol. Our corner cabinet we can't lock and he's constantly pulling out food, dumping entire cereal boxes, chewing crackers in the wrapper. He loves to climb on the elliptical or stand on his chairs.
@winniebee: Hope he feels better soon!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
E has been up at 5 am all week. Killin' me kid. Today we did CIO for 15 minutes of screaming till dad went in and got him. He wanted down, marched into our bedroom and 'demanded' to be nursed, lol.

@josina: haha oh man!
@winniebee: lol 2nd kid syndrome! but i think it's nice to just be more relaxed too! i have a feeling i'll be like that with the next baby too.. i have a feeling K will demand 110% of our attention and energy lol
@MamaG: hope she has a better day today!
@theotherstark: it's so true! i was just saying to DH last night that it's crazy that they will be speaking complete sentences in no time! and it's really funny when you realized they've copied or understood certain things you didn't think they notice!
@FaithFertility: haha yes, most of her most "treasured toys" are not actually toys. she gives us this sheepish grin whenever she gets her hands on adult things.
@BandDmommy: great to hear! that's crazy that she's the only walker AND she has a late birthday?! K is the youngest in her class and def the last to walk... in her class pics all the other kids are sooo gigantic compared to her!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
Btw who's obsessed with stickers? K looooves stickers, but after just ruining them after she takes them off and sticks them everywhere, I finally decided I need to buy her a sticker book. I had an amazing sticker collection when I was a kid too, I was SO UPSET when I lost that book during a move!
pomelo / 5660 posts
@snowjewelz: I had a sticker collection too! Man, I was obsessed.
B and D are starting to play together a lot which is good and bad. They love to play chase and hide and seek. The only problem is B loves tackling D when he catches her.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MamaG: @BandDmommy: Lots of tackling here! But R has not been walking as long as your kiddos and we have hardwoods throughout, so it leads to lots of tears!!!!
pomelo / 5660 posts
@winniebee: We have hardwoods too and it definitely goes from shrieks of laughter to big tears. The other issue is their favorite hiding places are behind curtains or under the table. So bumped heads always result after a game of hide and seek.

Anyone going through a not eating phase? K didn't eat dinner last night and I just called to check in on her. She didn't eat much of her breakfast or lunch today. But disposition is still happy and participating. She slept well last night (a little too well!). Growth spurt? Teeth? I haven't a clue!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MamaG: When R isn't feeling well, lots of food ends up on the floor. Also, when T teethed his first year molars he didn't eat for like 4 days....so I'm expecting the same.
nectarine / 2210 posts
@MamaG: K doesn't seem to be eating much lately either. But I think it's more that she'd rather drop food on the ground or push it around on her tray instead of not feeling good.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MamaG: Logan's not eating much either. I've heard that's common around this age to kind of slow down with how much they eat.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@Adira: @Miss Ariel: @winniebee: Hmmm, so not eating much looks like for dinner last night she had one chicken nugget and a few lima beans (maybe 5), no drink. For breakfast she had some apricots and milk but wouldn't eat oatmeal. For lunch she ate her pineapple and nothing else (water no milk). I forget what her morning snack was, but they said she ate some of it.
She's always been such a good eater, that this is a little foreign to me. And it's so sudden.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MamaG: K def has her days. Some days she eats so well, some days she eats more than I planned for her to eat, and some days she isn't very interested. I'm trying my best to trust that she knows her body and not to worry when she doesn't. Plus she totally has a gut, a cute one albeit
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MamaG: I think I heard that after one, you want to look more at what they eat over the week instead of day to day. Some days, Logan won't eat much at all, and then other days he'll eat a lot.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@BandDmommy: She did throw up yesterday morning, but it seemed to stem from some post nasal drip/drainage. She's got what I would call a very mild cold. Some nasal drainage and an occasional cough. All day yesterday she was fine, up until she wanted to nap at dinner time and then didn't want to eat. She slept great last night (12 hours). She was in a good mood this morning and went right to sit for breakfast when she got to school this morning.

Another pair with the happy noises turning into tears. M and J were "racing" last night (him with the walker), of of their favorite activities. Never ends well in our tiled kitchen
honeydew / 7283 posts
@MamaG: J seems to really adjust his intake day to day. It's so hard to predict what he will eat!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MamaG: Seems like she's fighting something, which is probably the reasons she's not eating as much. Our pediatrician reminds me to look at the week as a whole to see how he's eaten and not to fixate on a single day or meal. Some days they will eat more than others!
pomelo / 5298 posts
@winniebee: My gut says she's fighting something as well. But her disposition says otherwise. Darn kids
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@MamaG: Ethan didn't eat much the day after his shots (flu booster + chicken pox) but was fine the next day. Hopefully she's eating fine again tomorrow.
