@BandDmommy: aww already trying to roll! Is able to lift her head up and tries to turn. She does it mostly when she is on us tho! She tries to lift her head to look at me!

@BandDmommy: We haven't introduced tummy time, but on our chests she is a champ...lol lifts her head and chest, she almost feels like she has control, I'm sure it is good for her
When did you start tummy time?!?!

@FaithFertility: @MrsF: @winniebee: @snowjewelz: @BandDmommy: @Freckles: @whenoceansrise: @MamaG: Thanks ladies!!
@snowjewelz: I have a Graco sound machine - forget what it's called. It has like 8 set sounds and you can change the volume. It also has a way to plug an iPod into it or phone to play different sounds from that.
I didn't know about the pumping at the same time thing... I'm not sure it really matters. I always just pump after Logan eats during the day, but it's not always at the same time!
As for the pacifier, I've only given it to Logan when I KNOW he's tired and not due to eat. Like if he wakes up and I've just nursed him and he had activity time and is tired but isn't due to eat for another hour, I might give it to him if he's fussy. But otherwise, I'm with you - I might just nurse him instead!
@BandDmommy: B and Xander sound similar! Xander's a great sleeper, but definitely high energy!! He's so exhausting during the day!!
As for tummy time, I often forget to do it! Bad second time mommy. But he has a strong neck and can lift his head well. Doesn't seem close to rolling yet, but he's younger than D.
@Freckles: He pretty much just took the pacifier immediately. He spits it out I think only when he wants the real thing or if he just doesn't want to suck on it. We still haven't used it a TON though, so not sure if he really loves it or not. Though Xander saw him with it today and started pointing at it saying "Mine!" even though he hasn't used one in 11 months!
@MrsF: He's wide awake now (9:15 p.m.), so I'm nervous about what the night holds!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: I think chest counts kinda as tummy time too! I can only do it after feeding when she is awake as she nurses to sleep sometimes
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: isn't it better that he is awake now and might sleep later? K is sleeping now, due to eat around 10 ish where I will nurse in bed to make sure she sleeps! The only bad thing is I never burp her from then till morning!

@snowjewelz: your supply is supposed to be the best between 1 and 5am...also first thing in the morning after you wake up.
@FaithFertility: I think you can start right away. We have been bad at doing it consistently too...he spits up a lot so I don't want to do it right after a feed, and by the time I remember he is sleeping. He is also a tummy time champ on my chest!

So Micah has thrown up twice today. Once this morning and once tonight. Both times were after a feeding and both times it came out of his nose too. He seems fine and doesn't have a fever. I'm still worried though!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@whenoceansrise: Was it definitely vomit and now just spit up? Logan spits up and it comes out his nose sometimes. Either way, calling the pediatrician is a good idea. Hope everything is okay.
You ladies were right about Logan (so far)! He just slept almost FIVE hours!!! I'm nervous he's going to be wide awake now, but at least I was able to get four hours of uninterrupted sleep already myself!

@whenoceansrise: Ethan spits up and has it come out his nose quite a bit. From what i've read it's completely normal.
So mad at myself, I've been getting one longer sleep at the beginning of the night, tonight I accidentally used it from 6 to 9 when I should've woken him up sooner... Couldn't get him back down until 11:30 and now up again 2 hours later. Boo.
@Adira: how has your night been since he slept all day? Happy belated birthday! I will be 31 as well this month.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@josina: He slept!!! After his long stretch, he nursed and fell rights back asleep and slept for another 3 hours.
Bummer about your night though. I've done that before too, letting Logan do his long stretch too early while I'm still awake. Hopefully he'll sleep okay and do another long stretch for you.

@whenoceansrise: I hope Micah is ok! J has spit up come out of his nose, which is normal from what I've read. I think I would be concerned about more forceful vomiting though. Hope he seems better now!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@josina: ugh - that's awful when they get a long stretch and you miss it!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@Adira: so glad he slept for you! That's the best birthday gift.
J slept from about 10-3:30 and then 4-7! I feel like a million bucks
One month (actually closer to 6 weeks) pedi appointment this am. I can't wait to see how much the little chunker weighs!

@whenoceansrise: sounds like it could just be spit up?
I haven't really done tummy time. Life with two is pretty chaotic esp sincey toddler has been off preschool 2 weeks for holidays. But R not 4 weeks and spends a lot of time laying on my chest and can life his head well. Oops.
nectarine / 2053 posts
@Adira: @winniebee: how do I know the difference between spit up and vomit? It seemed like a lot- I had to change both him and myself.
Also both times it happened it was after he ate on the left side and I think that side has a fast let down so maybe that could have contributed? I'm going to see how he does today and if he does it again I'll call the pediatrician.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
R did there stretches of 2:30 and it was amazing. Then up from 4-5:15 and then up at 6 and was grunting and moaning so loudly I could t sleep til 630 and he was up at 730. I might have cried at 630
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@whenoceansrise: know that spit up can seem like a lot more volume than it is. I have a fast (and painful) let down and just a lot of milk so R spits up and is burpy. It has come from his nose a few times.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: that's awesome! I have yet to have more than 3 but Kata is only 4 weeks so I have hope!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: Aww I'm sorry! I was emotional yesterday bc I did nothing but fed & held her!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@winniebee: we're the same with tummy time (2 kiddos no joke!). He hangs out on his belly on our chest and can lift his head.
Sorry about his sleep last night It's so hard. The moaning and groaning in the early am is exactly what we have every day. Yuck.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@whenoceansrise: I think if he were gagging and making a retching noise I would call it vomit whereas spit up is silent? M used to spit up really large volumes after her stomach volume got bigger so I wouldn't base it off of quantity.
pomelo / 5660 posts
@MrsF: sounds like a good night!
@Adira: what a great bday gift!
For fun, I weighed D and she is 10 pounds! So, she's gaining about 7 ounces a week.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MrsF: Awesome sleep!!!
@whenoceansrise: Vomit is more forceful and will probably upset him when it comes out. Spit up just kind of comes up and out and usually doesn't bother them (although coming out the nose does bother Logan). And spit up can be a lot - I usually have to change him and if he spit up on me, myself too.
nectarine / 2053 posts
@winniebee: hmm maybe it is just spit up then!
@MrsF: he's not gagging or making any kind of noise. He just acts normal!
nectarine / 2053 posts
@Adira: so now I'm thinking maybe it's just a lot of spit up because he doesn't act like it bothers him.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@whenoceansrise: Sounds like it's just spit up then! I wouldn't worry - it's totally normal at this age!
honeydew / 7444 posts
@MrsF: @Adira: that's great! But I am envious bc I don't remember sleeping at all last night.
