@whenoceansrise: we still are, technically. We only due it at night, and I don't think she nurses for more than a minute or so. I don't think she'd have a problem giving it up but I'm not quite ready.

@snowjewelz: Yay for nicer weather! We are supposed to hit 70 on Wednesday and I'm so excited Between that and daylight savings starting this weekend my spirits are lifted already.
@whenoceansrise: I weaned J at about 13 months, but I miss those snuggles sometimes!

We had J's 15 month appointment last week (these babies are growing so quickly!). We talked about the fact that he's not talking - she said she would probably wait until 18 months before recommending EI, but I'm a little anxious that he's not saying any words So different from his big sister! He does seem to be advancing a little in the past week though - so that's encouraging.

@MrsF: Awww I think about this a lot since G is so vocal like you said M was/is ....will the next one be?! Will I compare?!
Can't believe these babes are close to 1.5 yrs

@whenoceansrise: we stopped at just over 13m. I miss it sometimes!!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MrsF: I'm anxious we will get in trouble at well visit for no talking too. I'm not worried because T didn't start until 15m and took off at 18m. But I hate the pressure!

@whenoceansrise: nope. especially with all of the sickness we have had this winter, i do sometimes wish we were still doing at least a morning session. but she was a boobaholic (and i'm home with her), so knowing it was available from the morning would've meant she wanted to nurse all day!
@mrsf: so much can change in 3 months!!
E has been learning most of her body parts. I wasn't thinking at all...now she sticks her germy, snotty hands in my eyes and mouth ALL the time, pointing them out to me. haha. But I forgot how fast they learn things at this stage!
pear / 1961 posts
@faithfertility: who knows?! she is a bit of a snotty coughing mess, but she is sleeping fine (other than the coughing), no fever, and doesn't seem to be in any immediate pain.

@KayKay: So, so fast!
K now can say head in both Eng and Chinese, eyes, ears, and toes. She skipped over shoulders and knees for now, haha!
K is obsessed with brushing her teeth and goes "teeth, teeth!"
I also noticed she's starting to string two sets of words together. Like when our dog is eating she'll say "doggy yummy" and when she wants me to open something specific she says "appy dis" (open this). Or if she sees her snacks/orange/cup laying up on the counter she'll say the object and "there" in Chinese. It's crazy!!
I'm just not sure if we're teaching her how to be bilingual correctly... There are some words/phrases I only say in Chinese, and then my mom pretty much talks to her only in Chinese...

@MrsF: @winniebee: Right there with you and hoping E starts using some words (again - since he had 5 words at 12 months but dropped them) before 18 months!
@snowjewelz: K is so smart!

@josina: It's prob just personality... I actually thought kids are supposed to talk later in bilingual households!
pear / 1961 posts
@snowjewelz: that's so cute! i have zero experience personally with bilingual households, but from friends, i don't think there is a "right" way. just do what you do, and they figure it out!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@FaithFertility: It's hard not to compare the two kids! I think that's normal It's interesting too because subconsciously I was probably assuming that many of M's strengths or weaknesses had to do with how we were parenting her. When #2 is very different it changes your thinking on that a bit!
@winniebee: It's hard not to feel that pressure. Our ped is super non-alarmist though, so it's certainly not coming from her - just from me! In the past few days J seems to be making different sounds and maybe more attempts at words. He just mastered walking in the last couple of weeks, so maybe that was taking his attention away from language?
honeydew / 7283 posts
@josina: I think J dropped a couple of words too. Although now I'm questioning whether he ever really "had" them... I hope they're all chatting a bit more soon!

@MrsF: I feel like what you are seeing is very much in the normal range with J. M was just an overachiever
K is becoming more verbal by the day. She just says things that I think are odd for early verbal. Like she said "bawk bawk" for the chicken before any other animal. Really? Who learns the chicken first?!?!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@MamaG: For the most part I think you're right. He doesn't have a word for me or DH though (can babble ma and da, but doesn't associate it with us) or have any other words. He also doesn't point to us if asked where we are. He'll point to Molly and the dog though, so maybe it's just a matter of priorities
I'm sure he's just fine, but a mom's gotta worry about something, right?
Love C's school pic on facebook, BTW - she looks so happy and beautiful! And the chicken noise, obviously - too cute!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MrsF: yes its hard to learn everything at once!! Rs receptive language is good, he seems to understand a lot and responds to commands well, so I'm focusing on that for now. Lots of all day emphatic gibberish, I'm sure the words will come soon enough!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@MrsF: @MamaG: Hahaha G says Moo for cow, and up above when she sees a star?!?!? Up above I'm guessing from twinkle twinkle?!?!?

y'all! micah has started stomping his feet if you sing "if you're happy and you know it stomp your feet" it's seriously adorable!

@whenoceansrise: too cute! Ethan's got the hand-clapping down but thats it so far.

Bah, I think we've gotta move to 1 nap finally. We've tried it here and there and he seems to really still need 2. And never fights the morning nap! But lately the afternoon nap has been pushed to 245....3.....and that's just too late and so he's been sleeping like 8-6:15 which is fine but I think he'll sleep more or later overnight if we do just the one nap. 15 months today

@whenoceansrise: LOVE!
@winniebee: yeah we really need to bite the bullet on this too for weekends!

Popping in to say hello! Moving sucks!! Got all of our furniture over today, so now comes the fun part of unpacking & cleaning our old apt.
M gets very excited with his gibberish sometimes too. If we ask where the dog or cat is, he'll look around for them. He's starting to direct us as to which way to walk when we're holding him LOL.

@AngelicOne: hope the rest of the move goes well!
I'm home today with a sick little boy... Tonsillitis. I guess possible strep but Dr. Didn't test since she's treating with Amoxy anyways. He's getting a lot of sleep today, and feels so warm but no fever?
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@AngelicOne: I can't imagine! Good luck!!
@josina: Oh no! Hope he feels better and you guys don't catch it! Where did it come from?!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@AngelicOne: good luck!
@josina: hope he sleeps those sickies away
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@snowjewelz: not today! I had to take R for his passport at 11 today so the nanny gave him a cat nap this morning and then he went down at 2 for his "real" nap. We are away this weekend so I think we'll just start Monday!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@snowjewelz: Thanks@ My first was a poor napper on one nap (1.5 hours MAX) so I'm really not too worried about it. The times we have done one nap, R has done 2-3 hours....but just been a little extra crabby....so we went back to 2 since it was still convenient. Hopefully the crabbiness was just a coincidence!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: K naps 1.5 some days too, but it's not really an issue I find! She is totally fine till 7!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@winniebee: no idea! Daycare has had normal colds but he's the first with anything worse. I have never had tonsillitis so not even sure what he's going through. He's just been super sleepy.
Good luck with dropping that nap!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@winniebee: We are busy this weekend too and 2 naps would just be more convient..... The struggle!
