We have not been in early wake-up hell like some of you, but we have been in minor-but-won't-go-away-sickness hell! E randomly had a fever last week and whether it's recovering from whatever that was OR a growth spurt, she has been having a hard time making it until her afternoon nap. so we did a couple 11-1ish naps last week. And K has had enough of a stomach bug to be constantly overtired (THE WHINING!) and no appetite for the last 4 days. We haven't left the house much for fear of exposing others to the bug and/or catching something else while their immunity is down, and I'm SO over it.
Luckily what I thought was horrendous morning sickness turned out to be a 24hr stomach bug...but we also closed on our new house last week and are in the middle of moving/transferring utilities/buying all the things. It's exhausting. In a good way!!

@KayKay: C had her big explosion when we took a vacation at about 22 months. She was suddenly speaking in 2-3 word sentences and it was fairly clear.
K is moving classrooms at the start of summer session (June) and I expect to see some pretty big changes then. She's currently the oldest in her class and also been in there the longest (since October!!).

@MamaG: cool!! Ryan's been adding some words in finally and I'm relieved! I think Ty had his first true explotion at 18-19 months.
We have jumping as well (but it's sort of fake jumping/not getting much lift off). Climbing on and up everything in sight too. I found him on my desk the other day....he just brings a step stool over to whatever the heck he wants to climb up!
In the last week we went from just mama and dada, hot, that, animal noises, and only sporadically using those words to.... also bubble, water, Ty Ty, bye bye, ball and he using mama and dada more appropriately. I remember ball and bubble being some of big brother's first words too. Funny how that works.

Haha we're totally still fake jumping too! She climbs everywhere also, BUT she is actually quite cautious and knows how to climb down stairs or climb down whatever she went up on. She also randomly walks in tippy toes.
K is starting to put strings of words together, and I am really amazed at her ability to comprehend that two different words in English and Chinese mean the same thing and she can use them interchangeably. I put a lot of pressure on myself but I REALLY hope I can help her be fluent in Chinese without having to go to Chinese school....

I'm finding that K says words that feel out of sync development wise. Like her first animal noise was chicken goes "bawk bawk". Now she's saying elbow. She will point to her elbow repeatedly and say elbow. She'll point to her facial features if we call them out, but she doesn't repeat them (other than eyes). Elbow? Really, odd!
My proud moment for her this morning was she picked up C's bunny and I said, "that's sister's" and she went and gave it to C. Then she picked up another bunny of C's. I told her the same and she again handed it over. She claps for herself when she does this (so proud of herself!).
The not so proud moment, when C caught on to this and decided to be "abusive". C said, "K get my backpack". Her backpack was literally on the floor between the two of them. I corrected C and told her to get her own backpack there wasn't a reason she couldn't bend over and pick it up.

@MamaG: Aaah,, can't believe they are almost 1-1/2 already!
Unpatiently waiting for our language explosion. Ethan says mom, dad, moo, meow, out, hot, hat, boo, and signs more, milk, and drink.
The climbing! Non-stop over here. Little troublemaker used a stool then chair to get to my computer desk and shove an entire handful of jelly beans into his mouth.
@KayKay: Oh no to all the sickness, hope you all feel better soon and get to enjoy 'buying all the things'!
@snowjewelz: Such a smart girl!
@MamaG: Lol to K using C to get her backpack. Thats what little sisters are for right?

@MamaG: haha big sister realized little sister can follow commands..!

@KayKay: Are you expecting too? I'm having a hard time keeping up with all of the new'ish pregnancies. Or maybe I'm just in denial that I'm done and y'all are still making babies.

Oh man I'm way behind here!
@winniebee: I hope sleep was better last night. You must be exhausted
@MamaG: That's great that she's working on more words. Elbow - ha And jumping! What??
@KayKay: Ugh - the never ending sicknesses are the worst! - particularly with the move. I hope that you guys are all on the road to wellness.

Jack had his EI evaluation this morning. Four specialists came and played with him (and M ) for about 90 minutes, trying to get him to do various tasks and asking me questions about him. He aced all of the motor skills, particularly fine motor. They were impressed with his receptive language skills too, but not surprisingly his expressive language scores brought that area down and he definitely qualifies for services in that area. We'll meet again next week to make up the IFSP (the plan, basically) and he'll have individual speech at our home and then be able to be in a toddler playgroup that's focused on speech when he turns 18 months.
Obviously I wish that he weren't delayed at all, but the therapists were very reassuring thinking that his expressive skills will catch up to his receptive ones soon. I'm a little relieved to have some experts helping me out rather than feeling like I should be doing more as his mom! He really does seem to be picking up more each day but I'm glad to have the extra help

@MrsF: Glad that you're getting the extra help you wanted and that your mommy intuition was right (even if it'd be better if it wasn't!).

Guys I know his is a board about our Dec 14 babes, but do you see any connection with their movement in utero and their attitudes/demimior now?!
G was pretty chill in there and over all is a pretty easy go lucky chill kid still......
This little hot potato I call him/her is a jumping bean at 14 weeks already I'm nervous.....lol
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: I don't know what's like normal level activity and what's lower/higher though. I feel like K was relatively active in the womb and she's a very active kid too...?
eggplant / 11861 posts
@snowjewelz: Hahah I guess I really don't know either, but people would talk about feeling flips, jabs and kicks all day, I wouldn't even do kick counts with G because some.days she would kick some days I rarley felt a thing, she is active but is easy ...if that makes sense?!?.....lol
But this babe is a hot mess I feel him/her all the time and if I eat ohhh my goodness
I also had an AP with G maybe this time I don't!?
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: hahah! that's crazy! i don't think K was that active like this little bean is! K def is very sassy, haha. i mean, you're sassy when your fav word is no, and u refuse to hold mommy's hand walking right?!
pomelo / 5298 posts
@FaithFertility: I would guess the anterior placenta is making the difference. More than likely you don't have one this go round.
I don't really see a comparison with in utero activity to current activity. And I certainly felt more the second time around. I think it was just being more aware of what movement felt like from the first experience.

@MrsF: awesome meeting. I hope you see continued progress now that you have professionals on the case. Way to trust your mommy instincts.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@FaithFertility: hard to say. Both of my boys were crazy in utero and have very spunky and active personalities. Ryan in particular is an insane toddler. We call him honey badger. I'm praying for a docile baby brother this time!
pomelo / 5298 posts
@winniebee: ha! Both of my girls have been nicknamed "tornado" by their teachers. They are at different schools with teachers that don't know each other or the sibling. I've got high energy, spunky ones too. My #2 was supposed to bring balance to #1. That failed miserably!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@MamaG: Yeah I think that might be it!
@snowjewelz: me.either May 6th!!!!!!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MamaG: LOL I sympathize! R was seemingly chill at first. Until he became mobile.
@FaithFertility: have you ever seen the honey badger on youtube? Do it!

@mrsf: i'm glad you got some good feedback and have a great plan. i'm sure you'll see tons of improvement.
@faithfertility: my cousin had triplets, and at least as far as baby temperaments, it matched what she felt in utero. Baby A was crazy and always kicking and was a very active, always moving baby/toddler. Baby C was always just lounging around, never moving much, and he is her laid-back, wait for the other 2 to check it out/master it one!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@KayKay: awww triplets, crazy how they know who is who in there!!!!!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@FaithFertility: i felt a lot more movement and much earlier with baby #2. I think I remember being told that it was common to feel more the second time?

Happy Monday! I think 5 days may be the longest this board has been quiet!
What have the LO's learned lately?
Ethan mastered signing 'please' this weekend. He can now climb up on the bench and thus the kitchen table (uh oh).
And he decided sand is fun instead of scary, and preceded to throw it everywhere (diaper, hair included).

K had 101 and 102 fever on Sat/Sun... Up from 1-3am on Sat, and woke up at 5:30am this morning. Coffee is my best friend! I'm not sure what the cause is... Afraid it's ear infection, but we haven't taken her in yet. Her canines also poked through, but I'm not sure if that warrants the higher fever...
Also found our our close friends had a miscarriage over the weekend. My heart is so broken for them
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@josina: We sing old mcdonald had a farm and she tells me what animal to sing about and the noise they make! She figured out she can ask for more toothpaste, so she points to the sink counter and says pease (her please, haha). She says more, please with snacks.. Now I'm like great she thinks she can get her way as long as she says please! She just does/says all these funny/cute/silly things!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@snowjewelz: Oh no about the miscarriage and the fever.
More Please... I know! It's so hard to say no to them when they sign/say it and are so darn cute.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@josina: I knoooow. I just do whatever she wants when she smiles and proclaims loudly, pease!! We are suckers, lol.
And since she hasn't been felling well, any time she asks for "veo" (video) I give it to her, lol. Sucker for life.

We are in a pretty good groove right now, though I'm still losing my sanity a bit each day. Having too high spirited kiddos is hard. K refuses to live in the shadows of her sister. They both want to be the center of the world at all times.
My biggest frustration right now is one that is mostly out of my control. K has 10 classmates. 3 of which are known repeat biters. She's been the victim more times than I can remember. I know this is the age for it, but it's getting old, quick. We had this exact problem with C. We nearly left our daycare over the issue but the administration finally took corrective action (all of the teachers were left go and then ultimately the child that couldn't control the biting had to be removed from the daycare). It's unfortunate and I hated to be a part of it, but I need my kiddo safe.
