@FaithFertility: that's awesome on the sleep!
Ryan ate all day yesterday and was so fussy. But then did two three hour stretches and a two hour and a short one. And I can't zip the newborn sleeper so I'm guessing he's been spurting.
I've officially made it one day longer BF this time around. After yesterday though I remembered why I quit! Man this age is tough. Also Ryan has similar signs if reflux that his brother had - arching and readjusting at the breast a lot, getting really mad after spit ups. Our pediatrician is sort of anti medication but I'm going to call this week anyways. I think I will also try to see an LC this week - nursing started out easy but seems to have gotten more difficult. Ryan takes a lot of air while eating even though his lath seems good so I think I might be missing something.

@winniebee: I hope you can get some answers and help! I feel you on the nursing, G has been an animal eating 24/7 during the day and for long stretches...she now gets mad if she drains that side and will pull and grunt, it's cute but I feel like a milk lady all day, it's all we are good for

@winniebee: congratulations on BF longer than you did with #1! Sorry things have been getting more difficult I hope the pedi and LC can help.

@Adira: she is 6 wk so I'm pretty sure we are going through growth spurt! She did give me 4 and 3 he stretch after being fussy and marathon nursing from 10-12!

@winniebee: K officially move on from nb size too! To my horror some of the 3 mo clothes fit her snug already! Thru all the difficulties, it's all worth it to see our babies grow! I hope you figure out if Ryan hs reflux soon so you can do what you need to do!

@FaithFertility: I nursed for like 2+ hrs last night, I feel you!! I think half of it was for comfort cuz I know at some point there isn't much coming out!

@snowjewelz: ohhh I agree, although I listen to hear her swallow and I swear she still is.......she let's me know when I'm out now....lol

K had a rough afternoon/evening with her congestion and misery. DH took her into the steamy bathroom twice, which seemed to help. She slept much better than I anticipated. We put her down around 11:30, she woke at about 3:30, I gave her paci to her and she went back to sleep until about 5:30. She went back to sleep again until about 8:30. And she's snoozing again in her swing. She got a little warm last night, but I think it was more from me holding her than anything.
I'm hoping today is better than yesterday. I'm up in the air about what to do tomorrow. I really can't miss work (this is why I went back at 8 weeks). It will be a short day regardless as we have a well visit in the afternoon. The doctor said she could go to daycare as long as she's fever free. But I know she won't get her nose cleared at daycare and she will be put to sleep flat on her back rather than an incline.
I want to put my head in the sand and return to reality in about April. I despise winter illnesses and kiddos.

@winniebee: sounds like you had a better night than you've had in quite some time! I hope this is a turn of events for you.
Ladies, thanks for your good wishes for K. I know in the grand scheme of things this is minor and we will come through it fine. In the moment though, my anxiety goes through the roof.

@MamaG: Awww I'm so sorry little K is sick. That is so rough, and stressful for you too. I hope she gets better very quickly! I too am looking forward to spring, and better weather
@winniebee: So glad you got some good sleep!! And awesome job for lasting longer with bf - no small feat. Sorry he's showing signs of reflux. Do you think he's taking in more air BC of your forceful letdown?i have a pretty strong letdown/flow, so sometimes H will be trying to gulp too quickly and take in air trying to breath and gulp at the same time. Anyway, I hope the ped and LC can help!!

@MamaG: I'm glad she slept relatively well! Daycare won't try to accommodate if you tell them? I am sooo ready for her to be able to go out so we can all go out! And yes for summer time when all our LOs are older and can actually enjoy summer!

@MamaG: stinky! I hope tomorrow is a good day, hopefully daycare can help out on the accommodations you have been making to help K get better!!!!

@FaithFertility: I am kinda dreading full on getting ready! Going to the dr is too easy, I only take out the diaper clutch. I haven't packed a full on diaper bag yet and I have not even used the stroller lol!
I think we're visiting SIL next weekend so it will be a trial outing!

Hey ladies, it's been a while since I have been on here. For some reason I find it tricky to log in and catch up on the boards. Another group I am in we felt the same so we made a closed private facebook group and now we chat on there and it is so much easier as we all check FB regularly. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in joining a December moms FB group? I know people are worried about anonymity but we havnt all become FB friends so we can't see each other's profiles but we share stories and questions and pics and it's a lovely community. Any interest? If sonincould make a group?

Ladies do you give vitamin D drops if you BF??
Does it have iron??
eggplant / 11861 posts
@Miss Ariel: Most don't our pedi said just vitamin D but my BIL's BF is a pedi and said iron is good too...but I heard iron messes up their bellies and it's not necessary
pomelo / 5298 posts
@Mrs.Lilac: good to see you. I'm not opposed to a facebook group. I've just never done one before.
pomelo / 5660 posts
@FaithFertility: our pediatrician said to start giving drops. I haven't yet.

@Mrs.Lilac: I'd be up for a FB group. I check it more regularly too.
@MamaG: Hope K feels better soon.
I've had a sick DH all weekend so it's been fun. Thank goodness he's feeling a little better & can help with M if I need 5 minutes to myself.

@FaithFertility: it's enfamil d-vi-sol, and from what I can tell doesn't include iron
honeydew / 7444 posts
@winniebee: that's great that his sleep is getting better! Also big congrats on breastfeeding longer with Ryan.
@Miss Ariel: have you tried using d drops instead? It is more expensive but cheaper per dose...it also doesn't have that sickly sweet taste.
@FaithFertility: where I live, we have to give 800iu in the winter. They usually say to give it right away (unless you are planning to give formula). I don't believe it is necessary to give iron unless the doctor indicates it is necessary.

@Mrs.Lilac: I wouldn't be opposed to a fb group either!
@winniebee: I think Micah has reflux too. I'm going to call his pediatrician tomorrow and see when we can get in. I think he has diarrhea as well.
nectarine / 2210 posts
@Freckles: we're actually still using the samples from the dr so we haven't had to buy any yet.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Mrs.Lilac: I would join one as well! I do check FB more and HB is still tricky to navigate even with the mobile version! I rarely even look at other posts!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: our pedi said to start. We got the enfamil tri-vi-sol or something like that. But I'll read in a FB mommy group that it has s lot of added ingredients so. I ordered this other drop on Amazon by Carlson Lab.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@AngelicOne: it's sad that we can barely get even 5 mins! I'm glad he is better. I hope he didn't get any of you sick!

I'm so behind on this thread! We went to a baby shower today which was fun.
I'm giving vitamin D drops when I remember... The ones I'm using is Natural Factors Vitamin D3 Drops for Kids. A friend gave it to me. I used the Tri-Sol or whatever it's called with Xander. Neither has iron.

I'm nervous for tonight ladies. We ditched the swing and went back to the rock'n'play last night and it wasn't pretty! He had been doing really long stretches in the swing but I'm worried he's getting to an age (8 weeks tomorrow) where he'll be dependent on the movement. Meanwhile, I'm exhausted. On the positive side, I thought I might be getting mastitis yesterday but since he was up nursing all night I think we may have avoided it for now.
Any thoughts on or experience with ditching the swing?
pomelo / 5298 posts
@MrsF: good luck is all I can say. We will need to work on ditching the rock and play after K is feeling better. She's napping in a crib at daycare, but not even close at home.
eggplant / 11861 posts
Thanks for your input ladies!
@MrsF: awww good luck!!!!
@Adira: Baby Shower fun!
I'm going to try to go for a pedicure tomorrow, was suppose to go Saturday, but just didn't happen!!! As much as I want to go, I'm nervous...going to leave DH a bottle just in case but she is not a huge fan! Always wants to nurse sometime after!

@MamaG: we kept my DD in the r'n'p forever (seriously, like 4 or 5 months) she was super tiny so I didn't see the harm. We weren't even really rocking it anymore - I think she just liked it because it was cozy. She didn't have any problem switching to the crib eventually.
