So J had a few little streaks of blood in his diaper (poop) when I was changing him just now. I'm SO frustrated because I'm already on an MSPI diet and I just don't know what to think.
I guess it could mean that he is intolerant to something else (wheat, eggs, something else?), but he is just the happiest baby and he sleeps really well and is gaining weight like a champ. M was MSPI and she was just absolutely miserable - cried 24/7 - so I feel like I know what that looks like. J has always had mucousy stools but since I was already eliminating I figured that was just him. I'm so happy that breastfeeding is going well for us but the idea of eliminating something else from my diet is so upsetting.

@whenoceansrise: With Xander (and what I plan to do with Logan) is cycle through the frozen. Tuesday - Friday, I'd use the milk I pumped the day before, but then I'd freeze Friday's milk and thaw out some from my freezer stash for Monday. That way I'm using my oldest freezer stash each week, but mostly he gets fresh.

@MrsF: Gahh, sorry to hear about the blood! Maybe it's just a fluke??? I hope you don't have to eliminate even more from your diet.

@Adira: H got his shots today too, and he's been crying on and off too. I think his legs are hurting. Poor boys!

@theotherstark: Aww, poor H. I hope they both sleep well tonight.

@Adira: that's a good plan! I was thinking to use frozen on weekends too.. Now to just build up the stash!

@FaithFertility: I find that with spurts K will be hangry first and then sleep mon stop! I think they get all the nutrients they can then almost go on hiberntion mode so they'd bodies/brains can grow!

@MrsF: ugh!!! Maybe he just has a small anal fissure? My pediatrician here doesn't buy into blood in stool = automatic food intolerance. Maybe just wait and see if it happens again?
honeydew / 7283 posts
@winniebee: Yeah - I'm hoping it's some flukey thing like that (though I don't see anything). I just feel like he would be a much fussier baby if his insides were irritated enough to be ulcerated and bleeding
He's had 2 poops since then that look normal for him, so I'm just going to keep an eye on it. Ugh. I was just thinking that I might try soy and see what happened, but I definitely don't want to mess with anything now.

@MrsF: You're a rockstar....an L.C. recommended I cut dairy since N spits up so much and I just couldn't do it. I don't eat a lot of dairy to begin with, but I'm a picky eater in general and the thought of cutting anything with dairy in it (including baked goods) was too much for me to handle. I think it's amazing that you're already on such a restrictive diet and are considering cutting more out!
@theotherstark: Awww-poor H!! N was in a deep sleep (he's now fallen asleep on the doc's exam table twice, and he's so hard to get down for a nap almost everywhere else!) and I felt so bad that he was awoken by needles in his legs! Hope he sleeps well for you tonight.@Adira: You seem to be a pumping/freezing expert.....I'm fortunate enough to be with N for much of the time, but I do have a small freezer stash (maybe about 7-10 days worth of milk total?) that I use a bit of whenever the nanny is here while I work. Part of me wants to make sure the oldest stuff doesn't sit in there for too long, but isn't it better if I give him pumped milk from the fridge instead of the freezer? I feel like there's so much info out there and I don't know what to read!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ChiCalGoBee: Milk in the freezer can stay good for up to six months, so I wouldn't worry about trying to use your stash immediately. What I did with Xander (and will do with Logan) is give fresh milk Tuesday - Friday (what I pumped the day before). I'll then freeze what I pump on Friday and thaw my oldest milk from my freezer stash for Monday. That way you'll be cycling through the freezer stash, but giving fresh for the majority of the week.

Bonus from the shots: Logan slept SEVEN hours!!!
I have the cough from Hell. Anyone have some good cough remedies that are safe while nursing?

So much for healthy February. C vomitted overnight. DH has to be home with her as I can't miss work. I'm tired! I'm over all the germs, I really want us all to be healthy.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@ChiCalGoBee: thanks It's not that bad when we're at home but it's tough when we're out and about or at someone else's house. I think the fact that my older LO was so obviously reactive and absolutely miserable makes this easier. It's WAY harder to have a child who cries 24/7 than any diet could ever be. I'll do anything to avoid that again.
@Adira: that's some serious sleep! Sorry about the cough though
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MamaG: that's awesome! At least you got some rest then work the cough! Feel better soon!

Last night was a mess! 2 something hr stretches only and we are super behind this morning so DH is feeding her bottle and I'm pumping since she is a long nurser. We need to get out the door to the doc soon!
I know they say if your baby naps well then they will sleep well. But it seems like if she barely naps during the day she sleeps well at night I keep getting one good night and one bad night! The unpredictability is driving me crazy!
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@snowjewelz: ugh. The unpredictability is the hardest part! Good luck at the doc.
@MrsF: Any chance you have a cracked nipple or anything? Thats good there wasn't more blood. Hopefully just a one off weird thing!
@MamaG: GAH I'm sorry Hope everyone is healthy SOON.

@Adira: I think Ethan and I are getting sick now so interested to hear what I can take as well. As a ftm at what point do we go the Dr? This morning Ethan had a cough and his nose sounded a little stuffy but we'll see how the day goes. Hate that he might be getting sick, but glad we made it two months.
Dh is paranoid about the measles right now, so far no cases in Iowa yet. Anyone else worried?
I got a 6 hour stretch last night, but I'm worried it might be because Ethan is getting sick.
With his longer stretches now I wake up soaked, time to invest in some better pads for night! (Or get up and pump, but I like my sleep again!)
honeydew / 7283 posts
@snowjewelz: sounds like a rough night The unpredictability is absolutely the hardest part for me!
@theotherstark: I've been hoping that maybe it was a cracked nipple. His poops since then look normal, so fingers crossed!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@josina: dr spoke to us about it today. He says since the earliest you can get the vaccine is 6+ months, there is nothing much we can do...
I know, I have a love/hate with long stretches! There is no way I'd wake up MOTN to pump.. I did that once and was awake waaayy longer than I intended!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
We really had the worst morning yet! Since she had crappy sleep, we slept in this morning till 9:20 (appt at 10:30). Rash decision was to feed her bottle while I pump, since she is a slow nurser. I don't know if she decides to hate the bottle today of all days, or milk wasn't her ideal temp, or she is cranky from short sleep stretches.. She only drank like 1.5 oz but we had to go! I put her on the boob for 5 min, no idea what she got. We then flew out of the house, I didn't even brush my teeth And I was upset that we eventually dumped the last oz in the bottle
Good news is her appt went well. She is now 10 lbs 2 oz and 21.5 inches. Dr said she is doing really great with all her milestones. She only cried for like 10 sec getting the shots.. But the cry was like earth shattering cry haha. She napped and now I'm nursing her hoping she catches up from the lack of milk this morning.
Phew, she is really throwing me off these days!

Our night was good except a paci emergency at 5 am. She somehow in her sleep flipped her wubbanub on her face. I got her up and feed her and she slept another 3 hours. It was one of her shorter stretches at 9 hours. She spoils me! :). DH has been working a ton and I'm pretty upset about my chemical pregnancy. It was unexpected but I was starting to get excited when I started bleeding.

@BandDmommy: it is so hard! I am sorry, it is such a mind game! Take time to be upset.....hope it happens soon for you!!!!!!!!!

@josina: G was stuffy and had a caught last week but it went away in a few days, it was dry and I think from turning our heater on!

Went to lunch with my mom and the babe today, we sat outside it is 70 here and there was no one around, G was soooo good, my mom.....had a million comments and critiques...
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: what a nice lunch! Except for all the comments
K napped for 30 min then woke up crying... Nursing seems to make her feel better, for now..
honeydew / 7283 posts
@josina: I hope you guys aren't getting sick! Yay for sleep either way I definitely don't have the commitment to pump MOTN. I get a decent amount if I pump after his first feed though.
The measles news is horrible. Nothing in our area yet but it's scary!
@snowjewelz: Sounds like a crazy morning! I'm glad that your appointment went well!
@FaithFertility: Lunch sounds lovely! I'm sorry that your mom wasn't more helpful
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MamaG: Sorry to hear that C is sick!
@snowjewelz: Ugh, sorry to hear about your rough night and morning! Great growth for Kara though. She may sleep most of the day today because of the shots.
@josina: You could always call just for peace of mind. But I'd call if he had a fever greater than 100.4, seemed to have any trouble breathing, had a cough longer than a week, or had any rashes/hives. I mentioned the fact that Logan's been sick to our pediatrician and she suggested making sure to keep sucking the mucus out of the nose, use a humidifier, and even have him sleep on an incline.
@BandDmommy: Totally agree that D spoils you with those long stretches! Do you pump at all after she goes down for the night? Sorry again about your loss...
@FaithFertility: Yikes! Sorry about your mom! I remember mine sometimes was like that when I had just had Xander.

@snowjewelz: aw sorry shot day was rough!!!
@FaithFertility: lunch sounds fun! My mom knows better not to offer advice....my MIL not so much!
@BandDmommy: I'm sorry it's been a tough week. Thinking of you!
@josina: 6 hours sounds amazing. We are stuck in one 3h stretch and a bunch of 2 or 2.5 land......
@MamaG: another illness? I'm so sorry. Winter needs to be over soon!!!

@Adira: sorry you are still sick. This has been one bad cold for you!!!

Her cries today break my heart I have never heard her cry like this. She has been sleeping mostly, has to be up right on my chest and is taking a paci. I managed to get her to eat for like 10 min on and off. I took her temp it was 99.5. This makes me sooo sad! I wish I can take the pain away.
