@snowjewelz: don't get down. Honestly I don't feel like the babies in this group are the norm in terms of sleep....the may 2012 babies had far many more sleep issues at this age. She will sleep well eventually. I've done the same things with both of my kids and one was a better sleeper than the other. Not sure why but I'm quite certain it's nothing I have done.

@winniebee: it's great that you know that it's not you! I think as FTM I tend to question and doubt what I'm doing waaay more. I think I set my expectations too high also (or to have expectations at all). I just need to be happy she is alive and growing!

@BandDmommy: Aww, that's a long time! Dh will be gone next Monday - late Thursday so E will be starting daycare. We'll see how it goes!
@snowjewelz: Our babies are gonna sleep when they want to sleep. We had one week of five hour stretches but are back down to four if I'm lucky. After his first stretch he wakes very hour. Saturday night I let him sleep on his belly next to me for a couple hours and he did so much better, I sooo want to just let him sleep that way at night! He will go five hours during the day that way! Did anyone else tummy-sleep sooner? E's 12 wks, he's great at tummy time but not rolling over yet, which I know is when they say it's OK.

@snowjewelz: have you tried using different kinds of bottles? the only one that i could get micah to use was the latch bottle by munchkin

@FaithFertility: that's too bad that she had trouble going down, but that's some great sleep!
@BandDmommy: so hard I hope the time flies by!
@snowjewelz: sleep is so hard and every baby is so different I hope that things get easier for you very soon! Glad to hear that she's been taking some milk from the bottle. We've been doing one every day and are finally in a good place (although I still don't think he would ever take one from me, just DH).
@josina: I can't remember when M started tummy sleeping (how quickly we forget!). Once she started being able to roll back to front I think she preferred to sleep that way. Not much you can do about it by that point! I still always put her down on her back though.

I had my first shift at work last night! I was actually supposed to work 12 hours during the day today but they called me to see if I could work 8 hours over night last night instead. Usually I would say no, but it was really nice to sort of ease into things on an overnight (when things tend to be less busy). Since J sleeps well overnight I only pumped once at work and once in the car on the way home - rather than the million times I'm going to need to pump on days. I have to pump in our nurse educator's office, and while she isn't in it very much and is super supportive (she BF her kids for a year), it was still nice to start out doing it at night when I didn't have to think about inconveniencing her. I got home at 9am and napped for a few hours while DH brought the baby in every two hours to eat. I hope J lets me sleep well tonight!
I'm sure that my 12 hour day shift on Thursday will be hard, but I'm glad that I could ease into it this way.

@josina: I let K sleep in her tummy at night for get first stretch. She can turn her head easily so I'm not too worried. If she gets stuck she starts crying anyway. Recently tho she is just fussy anyway she sleeps!

@whenoceansrise: hope Micah will do great! I don't think its the bottle since she did drink today. I did switch from medela to avent!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MrsF: yea I really wonder if she sas just tired at that point and didn't mind sucking on something lol. I'm glad you had a good first shift! I hope Thurs will go better than you expect

@MrsF: I am glad your shift went well! Hope it continues!!!!
@whenoceansrise: How did he do?? We go Friday
nectarine / 2053 posts
@FaithFertility: he screamed when she gave him the shots but calmed down when I picked him up and fell asleep in his carseat on the way home. Hopefully he will do well tonight!

@whenoceansrise: Hope Micah just slept & slept!
Sooo I was home alone with K and our water pipe bursted I heard this loud noise and didn't know what it was; next thing I knew water was leaking on 2 floors! I was in the middle of BF, thank God DH had reception (he was on the way home from upstate ny) so he could teach me how to shut off water. I was running around with K attached to my boob still, yelling like a mad woman and throwing every towel I own on the floor
The pipe is fixed now but the house is a total mess! I am sooo done with winter!

@snowjewelz: omgggg!!! Ahh that sucks! I'm so sorry. I had a maintenance man come to the door while I was bfing - def just opened the door with a baby on my boob. Haha. Oh well.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@theotherstark: hahaha. I couldn't believe she wa actually still latched on for a while among the chaos!
nectarine / 2053 posts
@snowjewelz: that's so funny, but also so horrible! Glad it's fixed!
Micah slept like he usually does last night. He was extra snuggly though!

Blah, I do NOT feel like working today. Can it be Friday already?
@snowjewelz: Oh no! Glad it was an easy fix but no fun cleaning that up! At least you were home to catch it.
@whenoceansrise: Glad Micah is doing good after his shots. I have to add that I love his name, I actually tried to talk DH into it but no luck. Thats okay because I love 'Ethan' too.
Ethan starts daycare next Monday. Sooo not looking forward to it! I didn't think it would bother me as much as it is. We've been spoiled with DH at home so far. We are using an in-home daycare and she's been doing it for over 20 years, highly recommended, and she only has 4 full-time kids, so thats great but just sucks having to leave my baby with a as-of-now stranger.
What is everyone else doing for daycare? And how much longer till little one goes? (if not already). I'm curious too how the rates differ, we are paying $2.25/hour and my back-up is $3.00/hour (also came highly recommended, but has more children).
nectarine / 2053 posts
@josina: Thanks! I didn't think DH would go for it when I suggested the name, but he actually loved it. Ethan is a great name and definitely suits your LO

@josina: we use a center. There are 8 infants in Ks room. She is the second youngest. Her big sister has been at this same center for 2.5 years. I like that I dont need a backup amongst other reasons we choose not to use an in home. For K we pay $300/week. And she could be there 60 hours, but is there closer to 50 hours. So I guess we pay about $6/hr.

@josina: Awww I'm sure he will do great with his sitter!
We have a private in home daycare as well that she will attend come August! We will pay 125 a week!

@snowjewelz: ohhh my gosh!!!!! I'm glad DH was heading home! Always happens when we are alone right???

I go back to work next Monday. My inlaws are watching her for the first 3 weeks, then she'll be at a daycare center after. So we'll see how it goes...

@FaithFertility: I know my mom JUST left an hour or so before it happenes!
I know some of you saw my post about childcare options. Part time nanny didn't work out since she suddenly had a scheduling conflict. So besides DH & my mom, she will be going to my SIL's two mornings where her 2 cousins are also being watched by a nanny & MIL. It's great since we have completely free childcare and she is with family at all times. The only thing is I may need to take off if my mom is busy (which she already will be for one day in the future).

@Miss Ariel: I think it makes it easier when you're leaving little one with family! It did for me, we'll see how daycare goes!
@snowjewelz: Yay for free child care! I wish we lived closer to my mom (an hour away) because I'm sure she'd love to watch Ethan for us.

@FaithFertility: Already liked on instagram but so cute! Love baby smiles.
And yay for no daycare until August!!

@snowjewelz: crazy day for you! It always amazes me that Ryan can stay latched while I make scrambled eggs or stop his brother from doing something dangerous! Hope all is well.
@FaithFertility: happy two months cutie!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
So I started the mini pill a week ago and got my period again yesterday. And my supply the last two days sucks!!! Ryan is a single boob guzzler and he has been nursing both sides (mad after one) and nursing 25 mins instead of 5-10 and my let down has been taking forever! I usually pump 5-6 oz before bed if Ryan gets a bottle and last night I got 3. I quit the mini pill and have been downing fluids. Hope it improves tomorrow. In other news after barely napping for 3 days he took 7.5 hours worth of naps today holy smokes!!!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@winniebee: Hope you can flush that pill out, that stinks!
Maybe good naps will lead to good sleep
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: I hope he sleeps well tonight too! And yikes about the pill! That's why I'm just not doing anything for now.. My supply is already just ok.
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@winniebee: ugh that stinks. Worries about my supply are one reason why I'm not going back on the pill. Bah. So great Ryan got some good naps, though! Hopefully that leads to some good night sleep too
honeydew / 7283 posts
@snowjewelz: That's horrible about your pipe I love the image of you still BF the baby and running around. Motherhood: it's not glamorous! We have ice dams and water leaking into our kitchen and I'm worried about the pipes now. This winter is making me angry.
@josina: I'm sorry E has to start daycare. It's hard at the beginning but it will be so much easier as you get more comfortable. It seemed so crazy leaving my first LO with a stranger but she really did start to feel like a member of our family (and treated M like one of hers). I hope you have the same experience!
@FaithFertility: So cute! Happy 2 months
@winniebee: Ugh - that's horrible about the pill! I hope you can bounce back quickly. Do you think it might have more to do with the period than the pill? I don't know anything about this but I've been feeling crampy all day and my letdown has been taking forever too! Glad to hear about the great naps - I hope he sleeps well tonight
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MrsF: I think it might have more to do with period as I was talking to a few friends who had same issue. I'm annoyed and stressed!
Sleep does not beget sleep in my world. We were up every 2 hours.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: I had been asking that question too, if sleep begets sleep! I think K slept longer that one day we were at church and she didn't nap at all.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MrsF: I've been seeing pics of Boston in the news.. No fun at all! I went to college there and def did not enjoy the winter months.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@winniebee: you're a champ, mama. R better be the best toddler ever to pay you back for all these long nights.
@snowjewelz: it's unreal. I've lived in this area my whole life and nobody has ever seen anything like this.
