@FaithFertility: That's too cute (and I don't miss that crazy pump noise).

What's everyone planning for birthdays?
We weren't gonna do anything... Just cake/candles and a bunch of balloons at home...
But turns out her cousin (who is 2 weeks older) wants to have her birthday party ON K's actual birthday at Gymboree (it's the earliest available date), so now instead of being a guest, K will be the co-birthday girl . So I guess that worked out for us?! Haha!

We do family parties (grandparents, aunts/uncles, cousins). Our party is going to be on December 4th. But we're just doing brunch foods and opening presents at our house. Nothing too major.

@snowjewelz: Small-ish family and a few friends bbq at the house
But a recent party showed her love of a princess so mom might have to make that happen for her birthday too.....lol
Nice score!!!!! Gymborwe sounds fun!

@FaithFertility: Haha I saw those! Maybe it should be a princess party and all the women dress up as princesses for her
I have no idea how a free party landed on our laps, but I'll take it lol. All I have to do is get coordinating outfits for the girls!

@snowjewelz: That's awesome!
J's birthday is on Thanksgiving this year. We'll be traveling to see DH's side of the family so I'll bring a cake and I'm sure he'll get a few presents. I invited others to come over on Sunday for football and pizza (we pretty much always host football) so we'll have some of my family then.

@snowjewelz: Nice!
Not sure yet, but thinking we'll just do E's bday with Thanksgiving. DH's family is traveling that weekend so won't be around, so will probably just get together with my side.
Trying to decide for-sure what to get him.

@snowjewelz: I think we'll do a small party at our house, Minnie Mouse themed. But my sil is expecting to be induced 3 days before K's birthday, so I'm not sure when we'll actually plan to have the party.

@snowjewelz: we're in the process of buying a house so hopefully we'll be in it before his birthday so we can have a small puppy themed party at the new house. he's obsessed with dogs!

@whenoceansrise: best of luck with the buying process! who doesn't love puppies

@snowjewelz: Probably just cake & balloons on his bday since we don't have family around & we aren't traveling this year. We'll probably take him to the zoo or aquarium too.

@AngelicOne: That's what we were gonna do to, just find a "fun" activity/outing to do for her!

Hey! We are doing a party for Ryan the day after his birthday (so, 12/10). It's "choo choo I'm 2!" since he loves trains so much. On his actual birthday, we're doing the Polar Express with his cousins

We are having cake as a family. When we asked her what she wanted for her birthday, she said CAKE! Of course big sister thinks it should be a full blown party with friends. Her birthday is next friday (11/18), we will celebrate on 11/19.

@winniebee: polar express will be awesome! and love the choo choo theme
@MamaG: Ack, so soon! Can't believe they're seriously gonna be 2~

Kristen just posted on FB about sending Sandy flower's to acknowledge Ava's second birthday and the second anniversary of her passing. If you are interested and not on FB, let me know and I'll make sure you're included in whatever we do.

We'll take some treats & a book to E's class on her actual birthday. My parents will be in town for Thanksgiving, too, so we'll do just a family dinner, cake & ice cream, and presents that evening.
We did a group birthday party for the Oct/Nov birthdays in my MOMS Club last weekend. It was pretty low-key (mostly just a playdate at an arts & crafts place) but the kids had fun and we sang HBD, so that counts, right?

@KayKay: Ah I forgot about daycare! I think I just need to bring in snack and goodie bag....
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@KayKay: oops forgot about his bday. I have to make birthday muffins and I guess they will celebrate the day before his bday since he doesn't go Fridays.

@KayKay: @snowjewelz: @winniebee: I think we might just skip doing anything at daycare. Maybe next year when she's more aware of what's going on? But I'm not aware that anyone else has done anything yet either.

So K officially pooped on the potty for the first time tonight! She's been telling us when she has to go for a while now, by saying poop and diaper. She'll get upset if we don't change her, even if she hasn't pooped yet, so we've started bringing her to the potty just to see. Tonight when I told her she hasn't gone yet, she asked to use the potty and actually got a tiny bit out.
Then apparently when Dh was putting her to bed she asked for the potty, but as she was pooping so it was a little late.
I'm still not ready to go all out with potty training, but it's definitely a good first step!

@Miss Ariel: amazing!! tho I'm sure potty training with a newborn is no walk in the park!
And I guess I don't have to do daycare since k's bday is on Sunday... She has taken goodie bags from someone else's bday tho. And I know how much she loves singing happy birthday lol!

Aww, love hearing all of these party plans! My husband will be out of the country on a work trip for H's birthday, so I think we will just do something small with my mom, who is coming into town that weekend, and our aunt/uncle who live in the area. Cupcakes, balloons, presents, etc. Maybe go to a local children's museum that day. We will see! Nothing crazy.

@Miss Ariel: Way to go K!
E pooped on the potty yesterday too, started in his diaper but came into the bathroom and said poop so I sat him down and he got a bit out. DH said he will sit with him in there, each on their own potty in the morning and this morning he pee'd.... and then said ucky as he stuck his finger in it. SMH lol.
So we'll just keep suggesting/encouraging and hope it sticks!
Word explosion over here too, so much fun, he repeats everything and will string words together finally.

This morning K woke up as I was exiting the shower. I could hear her babbling away. Then she leaned back and whacked her head on the crib. Never cried but she was getting more insistent on what she was saying. I went to her room and finally could tell what she was saying "Uh oh Momma, bumped head". When I repeated it and asked her if it hurt, she looked at me and said "That's so funny, Momma". The kid is nuts! Some of her language is very clear and other times she's not at all clear. Like last night she was talking away to me at dinner. I just stared at her and she just went on and on. I threw in an occasional yes? and she just rambled on.
Also on the sleep front, she got a dose of Advil last night to knock her out and she slept much better but she's really struggling with going to bed.
K is very interested in the potty but doesn't have her timing together at all. She will pull her clothes and diaper off and go into the restroom. I set her on the toilet and she will sit for about 2 seconds before she declares she's all done.

My dearest dearest December moms - thank you for the beautiful flowers for Ava Quinn. You ladies are so wonderful and it has meant so much to have you honor Ava's memory and to have a group of ladies remember her with me. It means so very much. You are the best

@sandy: my college roommate was diagnosed with PKD (the adult-onset kind....from a random mutation, nothing in her family history!) during her most recent pregnancy. i often think of Ava when she is talking about research/advances & advocacy for PKD.
@winniebee: hope the u/s today is going well! keep us posted
We went to visit a friend with a week-old little girl last week, and E actually seemed interested in the baby! A little holding, and then mostly seeming concerned that the baby (in the rock-n-play) needed a pillow over her face. haha. Maybe there is hope that adding a 3rd will go smoothly?!

@KayKay: thanks for checking in! It was fine. Baby is looking good so far - 7 weeks today but measuring 6.5 which is what I expected. Saw a good little heartbeat. Waiting to talk to my doc now.
