@FaithFertility: My kiddo is certainly older but she's a terrible bed sharer. We've had people lay/snuggle with her until she falls asleep and then slip out.

@MamaG: See that is the thing I know G will LOLOVE it, but she can't ask for Aunt "Windsey" if she isn't here right?!

@FaithFertility: How was the sleepover? And I totally agree that it's much easier to allow something if they can't normally ask for it.

My SIL wanted us to sleep over Christmas Eve so all the kids can get up together and do the whole she-bang together... But I declined since I'm just too pregnant lol!

@MrsF: Hasn't happened yet, her husband surprised her with a romantic get away for their 1 yr anniversary! Probably Friday!!! I agree can't ask for Aunt Lindsey to sleep in her room when she isn't here....lol

Finished our most recent antibiotics two days ago. Tonight, sleepless. Pajamas have been removed twice and generally restless. She will sometimes say her mouth hurts. No fever. Not really coughing. Teeth? I dosed Advil. I just want her to sleep, it's 9:00.

@MamaG: oh no! pray it's not HFM!!
Kara's sleep has been pretty bad but it's prob due to moving to her room full time, daddy instead of me putting her to bed, and baby sister's arrival...

Still not sleeping. Undid her diaper this time. Whatever her issue is the Advil isn't helping. She just can't seem to stop moving. Even when I tried to rock her, she just couldn't settle into a position. Wherever my good sleeper ran off to, I'd like her back.

@MamaG:! I'm so sorry! Her cough maybe? G got prednizone?! Only 5 days so she was done yesterday, worked wonders!!!!!
pomelo / 5298 posts
She coughed only once during her 2.5 hour shenanigans. She finally fell asleep at 10:00, up for the day at 5:50. She said her throat hurts. No fever and ate/drank her breakfast fine. She's acting normal. When I asked after she ate of anything hurt she said no. This kid just likes to mess with me.

@MamaG: I think they have learned if they say those things we tend to them right away!
G will now say she has to go potty when I tell her to hold on (if I am.busy with AJ) or even if she is in time out she will proclaim she has to pee it's like she knows I won't ignore her then!
These smart kids!!!

@mamag: ugh! only commiseration; no good solutions for you hopefully she works through whatever it is soon and gets back to sleeping normal. have you tried earlier/limiting the afternoon nap? going outside more for extra doses of fresh air?
hope everyone is having good holidays! E is currently still sleeping (it's 815a)...i think we're going to have some issues waking up for school next week! our guests are starting the slow trickle home today, and by saturday they will all be gone. luckily DH has next week off to help us transition to our normal routine as a family of 5!

@KayKay: Yay for sleep! My kids slept in today too but we had a late night last night - traveling for a family dinner. Glad that you guys have some time next week as a family of 5

@MrsF: Nope, nothing currently other than her daily dose of Claritin to try to keep the allergies at bay.
All in all, health wise I think she's doing okay. She's got a little bit of a runny nose, but she's a daycare kid. It feels normal to me. She will cough occasionally, but nothing that seems concerning. She complains a lot of tummy hurt or mouth hurt. But when you ask her sometime later about the complaint she will usually say no. She had a four day weekend and did okay sleepwise all weekend. We didn't have a lot of outdoor time in those four days.
She was back to daycare yesterday, which was the only change. And they did get their normal outdoor time.
Generally she seems to be eating less, but I don't think it's alarming the amount she's eating. I think it's really just some strong food preferences. Like this morning she ate a full yogurt, string cheese and water. But lunch she tends to eat light at home, better at daycare. And dinner seems lighter too, particularly on daycare days.
I do wonder about over stimulation. She was playing with our Hatchimal right before bedtime and also was playing rough with DH.

@mamag: do you think she is just stalling sleep for attention? what happens if you don't go in there after you put her down, even if you know/can see she is still awake? E is the worst at stalling bedtime right now -- everything from trying not to go upstairs, trying not to put pjs on, reading extra books, singing extra songs, and (as a last resort) just saying "dad!" (dh: what E?) "ummmm....hug!" (dh: gives her hug) "dad!" (dh: what E?) "ummmm...." (dh: tries to leave) "dad!" (dh: what E?) "ummm....kiss!" it's both seriously annoying and adorably cute

@MamaG: ugh, I'm sorry for the rough sleep!! We have had a few crummy nights lately, but I think it's just been the travel/new place, and all of the Christmas/family festivities. H actually had a really great night last night, thankfully, since his sleep has been so bad. I hope her sleep gets better soon!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
We have day 2 of 10 min daycare nap night sleep is bad too... I'm pretty sure it's all the changes with baby sister, and they are transitioning her to the older toddler took too.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@KayKay: Stalling is definitely part of the issue. So I'm trying to be more firm with her on my expectations. And I do try to minimize going in her room. But I feel like I have to when she takes off her pajamas She wasn't crying any of the three times she took off her pajamas. But I also think she'd fall asleep like that and end up cold/upset. And/or she'd end up with her diaper off too.
Stalling is what started the problem. I got firm and put her in her bed without singing. She screamed. I let her for 15 minutes until her sister was going to bed. I went to settle her so she wouldn't keep big sister awake. And she did settle noise wise.

@MamaG: early last night but she woke up crying like 300 times!

@snowjewelz: I bet it's a hard transition Sorry for the crummy sleep. I hope it normalizes soon!!

It seems like we are all dealing with one thing or another haha! Hang in there everyone!!

@snowjewelz: Agreed! Our newest thing is M wants yogurt for breakfast, lunch & dinner. He's refused to eat dinner the past couple of nights (had yogurt only) & refused his sandwich at lunch today!

@AngelicOne: I've got two dairy addicts in my house. Every meal and snack requires cheese as far as they are concerned. And they will eat yogurt at any given opportunity. And the older's preferred drink is Kefir. I feel your pain. At least they are getting lots of calcium.
persimmon / 1050 posts
@MamaG: Glad I'm not alone. M doesn't drink milk (never took to it after I stopped giving BM), so it's good that he's getting calcium & protein. I told DH there are worse things he could request.

@snowjewelz: Hope nap and sleep is/was better today!
@AngelicOne: Ohhh my G wants milk 24/7 she only drinks that and water I have limited it and cut it with water too
At least with all the yogurt he gets calcium!

I posted on FB about G and her temper/attitude the past few days thankfully today went much better
I tried very hard to focus on positive and stay calm and I really think she took notice!
P.S. Kudos to SAHMs....I am on day 3 of Solo parenting both kiddos 6a.m.-8 p.m. and I am spent

K had her 2 year visit today. Of course she's had a stomach bug the past week, so I'm sure she's lost some weight because of it. But she's 20 lbs 4 Ozs, at 0.18%ile and is 33 inches at 26th%ile.
Also at what point do they stop laying down for height and weight checks? She just seems so big for that, especially compared to J who had his 2 month visit too.
nectarine / 2210 posts
@MamaG: K loves cheese too! But we try to limit it because eating it really stops her up. She still drinks a cup of whole milk most days, but since that's pretty normal I guess her body is used to it.

@FaithFertility: K been home on winter break these past 2 weeks too. Thankfully Dh has been as well, but it's still crazy. Definitely makes me see the bright side on going back to work next week.

@Miss Ariel: M stood on a scale in the hallway, but laid down for the height measurement at his 2 yr appt last month.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@Miss Ariel: We haven't layed down since before a year?!
G hasn't gone for her 2 yr well either last week turned into her getting meds for her cough and next apt is Jan 4th
nectarine / 2210 posts
@AngelicOne: @FaithFertility: maybe since J had to lay down too it was easier to do them both that way? She has a weight check in 3 months so we'll see what they do then.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Miss Ariel: we still laid down at 2 yrs old! I was actually going to ask if she can NOT do it b/c she used to freak out; surprisingly, I talked her through it and she cooperated completely at check up. Her next check up isn't till 2.5!
@FaithFertility: naps got better at daycare! she napped for an hour finally. now she will mostly nap an hour at home too (she used to nap for 2-3 hrs at home). but I prefer it this way so she can go to bed earlier! I don't even know how you solo 2! I guess it's fine unless the nursing schedule is conflicting with toddler schedule! I totally find myself just going day by day now... If Kara has a good day, I have a good day lol.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@Miss Ariel: They still had J lay down at his 2 year appointment, but I'm pretty sure they had M standing up at her 3 year check. The laying down seems so inaccurate sometimes, although who knows if standing up is any better. Wiggly little ones!
And isn't it funny how big the toddler seems when the new baby is born? Can't you make your own sandwich? You're enormous!
