Thanks ladies. I head to the hospital at 8:30 with surgery scheduled for 10:00. My anxiety level is pretty high and sleep wasn't great last night. I will check in later today.

good luck to @MamaG and @MsMini today!
I haven't really experienced any pain yet, but I am very unfomfortable. Sleep still sucks. The nursery isn't totally complete yet- I still need to organize a few things and I have pictures I need to hang up. Nesting hasn't really hit me yet!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@whenoceansrise: Nesting didn't really hit me with my first. I got stuff done, but wasn't nearly as proactive or gung-ho as I have been this time. I didn't get stuff done until 38w6d and I went into labor the next day. And I still had to pack my hospital bag when I was in labor!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
I'm glad nesting hit earlier b/c I reaaaally don't feel like doing anything anymore! Yet my crazy hormones drive me to order 3 burpy bibs, then decide I don't like the color/print, and proceed to order new ones and plan to return the old ones...
We also really couldn't do anything this past week b/c we had a house guest with us. Now that he's gone, time to put DH to work again!
nectarine / 2631 posts
@snowjewelz: My nesting is Just kicking in! Thanks goodness though because I have SO MUCH TO DO STILL!!!!
We are getting carpet installed on Thursday- so hopefully I can set up my little lady's room this weekend and start getting organized in there! Maybe I could pack a hospital bag or wash the car seat or something!! Its all happening tooooo fast!!!!!!!!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@cheert16: Ahh new carpeting is the best!
I don't even know what I want to pack for the hospital bag anymore! If I go by my list it's like super over-packing. But being a FTM I guess I'd just feel better having those things at least in the car??
And I don't even care about the carseat anymore. I told DH as long as it's set up & secured by the time we walk out of the hospital, I'm good, lol!

@snowjewelz: My husband totally installed the car seat while I was in the hospital last time!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
I must share this too.. So I ripped my PJ pants
Since we had a house guest this past week, I wanted to wear my normal PJ pants to appear more normal. Since I can't really bend, I squat instead and ripped the front crotch
Back to leggings and goodbye PJ pants!
nectarine / 2053 posts
@Adira: Yeah, I'm definitely not feeling like getting stuff done- I'm just doing it because I have to haha
@snowjewelz: Same for me. I want to be prepared, but I don't want to over pack!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: I think overpacking is probably better than forgetting stuff you need! And bummer about your pj pants. I actually did that to a pair of mine too, but I still wore them around the house. And then I had to bring Xander to the ER and was still wearing them and forgot and was sooooo embarrassed!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: I'm sure they've seen it all at the ER though so ripped pants is probably nothing! I can't even see past my belly so I had to go to a mirror to look lol. I just felt windy there and I was like....??
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: haha, I realized mine were ripped when I slid them off to go to the bathroom and was like "Wow, that's a huge hole in the crotch..."
@whenoceansrise: That's how I was last pregnancy! I was like "Ugh, I need to do blah blah blah." This time around, I've been all "Let's wash all the baby clothes!!!!" and I get excited about it, which is sooooooo not normal for me!!
pomelo / 5660 posts
With B we were SOOOO unprepared. DH had to run out and buy car seat while I was in hospital. The joys of having your LO at 34 weeks.
nectarine / 2631 posts
@snowjewelz: Ours has been in our basement since we switched DS to his big boy seat- so it needs a good cleaning!
I way overpacked the first time- but at the time it was all stuff I felt like I NEEDED- this time I am bringing a newborn outfit- some undies and going home clothes! (I am sure a few small other things- but I packed a whole wardrobe last time..... who was I planning on looking good for??? I could barely stand up!)
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@cheert16: I know, I want to bring a little make-up but I'm 99.999999% sure I won't care by then, haha! I don't even know if I'd even shower there or just suck it up till I go home!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: Bring makeup and shower stuff! I felt soooooo much better after I took a shower and put some makeup on. I was having an emotional melt-down and a nurse was all "Why don't you have your husband watch the baby while you go shower?" and I was all "*sniff sniff* Can I?" The shower made me feel a gazillion times better.
ETA: And then I got the cutest picture of Hubs asleep in a chair with Xander sleeping on his chest! It's one of my favorite pictures!
pomelo / 5660 posts
@snowjewelz: I took a shower and it was glorious!! I did not put on makeup or do my hair though.. But I'm lazy about makeup normally.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: @BandDmommy: Alright, I'll just pack what's on my list so at least I don't regret not bringing something! I'll just hide most stuff in the car so people don't think I'm moving into the hospital...
pomelo / 5660 posts
@snowjewelz: when I was checking in to the hospital the other day, a couple arrived with 2 large suitcases.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@BandDmommy: Haha oh wow! Ok I feel better! Not that I've attempted to fit our things into any bags/suitcases yet!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@BandDmommy: What did you end up packing your stuff in? A rolling suitcase or is that crazy?
pomegranate / 3973 posts
I have a LARGE rolling suitcase started, and when we toured the birth center a couple was leaving with one as well... And I don't think I've overpacked yet, 2 outfits for me (I still need options!), undies, outfit for DH, receiving blankets + outfit for baby, and then I'll have all the shower/make up stuff and a boppy.
So maybe an odd question, but what do you plan on wearing TO the hospital (assuming you have a choice)?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@josina: Thanks! I think I'll go with the rolling suitcase too - just seems easier.
As for to the hospital - I just wore whatever I was already wearing. I think it was jeans, t-shirt, sweater or something similar. I pretty much changed immediately into a hospital gown once I got admitted.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@josina: I'd probably wear maternity leggings, nursing tank w/ sweater cardigan. I'm assuming I'd change into hospital gown (then I'd throw a robe over it), then maybe I can wear those clothes again when I leave.
I think I'm going with a check-in size suitcase too...Then maybe if that fills up, pack the rest of the stuff in duffle bag and leave in car for later.
nectarine / 2631 posts
@Adira: I did a rolling suitcase for B (like a small one that you carry on with)- and ill probably do that again- only because its easier to maneuver than carrying a bag!
@josina: I was wearing jeans and a tshirt I think? I was being induced- so it was whatever I wore that day!

I am pretty sure I used barely any of the things I packed in my hospital bag the first time around. I was glad to have my boppy, an outfit to go home in/wear once I was not being checked as often, and an outfit for LO to go home in, but that was really all I used. I wore my glasses, didn't care about makeup, the hospital provided toiletries, and I just wore the fancy mesh undies they provided until I got home. At most, I wish we had brought more snacks for DH, as food was not "free" for him like it was for me. We also left with so much more stuff than we came in with (diapers, wipes, flowers, stuffed animals/other gifts family sent, two Similac bags filled with bottles and formula, a large bag from the hospital with a Halo sleep sack and breastfeeding supplies inside) that I was glad we didn't have much of our own stuff to bring back as well. We had a small car, so it all barely fit!

@josina: I just wore whatever I was wearing that day. I quickly changed into the gown, so what I was wearing on the way in didn't matter much.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MrsScallop: wow nice swag! I didn't want to ask "so what can I get for free" when I was there lol!

So I had another growth scan and NST today. Baby is looking fine and head down (finally!), although he has dropped a little on his growth curve to 20% from 29% or so. He was being sleepy during the NST, so they had to use the vibrator to wake him up a bit, and it was hilarious to see/feel his reaction. They put it straight on his head and he jumped just about as far as he possibly could from the surprise.
We also toured the NICU today so we know what to expect once baby is born. It is a really nice facility, but I definitely nearly cried as the nurse was explaining the beds, monitors, and wires babies are attached to while they are there. It is so sad to think baby boy will need to be in there for a while, but I am glad I know what to expect now so it won't be as big of a shock when he arrives.
Looking forward to seeing more babies! I hope @Mrs.Lilac: and @MsMini: are doing well!

@snowjewelz: Haha, yeah, I was really surprised by what they sent us home with. The nurses were pretty much encouraging us to take everything that wasn't clothing/blankets and helped us empty drawers filled with supplies into our bags. Those diapers lasted us about 4 days, but it was great to have!
