Any of you bees have travelling planned out already for later this year? We're supposed to fly out to the west coast (I'm in NY) twice in July & Aug... I should feel fine as I'd be in my 2nd trimester but right now the thought of going away far is scary!
My good friend is giving birth in July and I said I'd go visit her (pre-BFP), I'm wondering if I'd still go around Oct or not...

@snowjewelz: We have quite a few trips coming up - lots of weddings, etc. I am going to the West Coast the first weekend in May, then we have a trip to the South at the end of May, a week-long international trip in June, and another trip to the West coast in July. I also imagine that I'll fly out to the West coast at least once for a shower, depending.
We don't have anything specific planned after that (although I'm trying to convince DH to go somewhere for a babymoon!), but probably wouldn't risk it after September or thereabouts. But that's just me, and I'm paranoid

@theotherstark: You are one busy pregnant bee!
Btw... Since we're pretty much beyond TMI... BM/#2 has not been good ever since BFP I did read that it's normal..

@snowjewelz: OMG I'm so glad you said that.. mine have been awful..
We are taking LO to Disney World at the end of May for his birthday. I also have a work trip at the beginning of May to Vegas.

@snowjewelz: @littlek: me too! And I don't remember anything like that at all my first pregnancy.

Thanks for the welcomes, everyone! I only feel old because a lot of my friends my age have older kids and all of their younger sisters are all pregnant right now. LOL!
@LittleK - glad to see a couple of people here that are our age. The only reason why I'm concerned about being 35 & pregnant, is because we'll be subjected to amniocentesis. Ugh. The thought of that freaks me out! Good to meet you here!
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
@MrsMangoMochi: I had CVS with my first pregnancy and it was not bad. I believe the new MaterniT21 blood test can be done in place of CVS or Amnio. I think you do it early and you find out the results before the end of your 1st trimester, it also let's you know definitely if you are having a boy or girl.

@ LittleK - Ooh! That's good to know! The last time I was pregnant, I was 28/29. At that time, I had a co-worker who was 38 and pregnant, so she was telling me all about her amnio, so it freaked me out a little. I don't have a medical background, so I wouldn't know what other options are out there, so thank you for your info!

I told my parents last night! I had ordered this little heart charm for this clear locket necklace my mom has that said Grandma on it, and the lady I ordered it from actually sent me a little baby buggy charm also (so sweet!) so I wrapped them up and gave them to her. She opened them and was all, "oh how cute!" and then she got quiet and stared at them for a couple minutes, and then she looked at me and FLIPPED out. I swear, she was bouncing off the walls and crying and laughing and it was ridiculous and the cutest thing ever! And then she says, "I should have known, your skin looks terrible." Thanks, mom. haha. It was great. My dad stopped by later, so I asked him if he saw the charms I got her, and he looked and was all, "Is there something you need to tell me?" and then he says, "ARE YOU?!" so I nooded and there were lots of happy tears. My mom texted me today saying they stayed up late talking about waht they want to be called by the grandbaby. Precious
This weekend we will tell DH's parents, and then siblings the following week. Since it is unplanned, we want all the support we can get! We will tell close friends after the first u/s, and then announce on FB probably around 12 weeks. Early, but most of our friends announce even earlier, so 12 weeks is actually late in our circle..
And I am still waiting for the OB to call me. I just want to schedule an appointment!! Gah!! And holy smoke, the bloat. Is 5 weeks (or 6, depending on the site you look at) too early for a pair of maternity leggings/pants/belly band/ something to help me breathe?! Yes, it's too early... unfortunately haha. Definitely looking forward to new clothes with room to breathe and grow!

@missybear: Aww what a sweet story! I felt so happy reading your story
Are you sure you don't want to call your doc again? It's been a while!

@missybear: that's a sweet way to tell them. I'm glad it went well.

@SnowJewelz - The biggest trip we have planned is next month for our move down to Southern California (we currently live in Northern Cali). My whole family is down there & my husband got a job transfer there. So, I am currently packing up our stuff (in between postings, HA!). It'll be nice having family close by again. My 10 year anniversary is in October, so we may just end up turning our anniversary into a babymoon of sorts, but keeping it local (I was thinking Palm Springs, Santa Barbara or San Diego). Have a safe & fun trip!

@MrsMangoMochi: That sounds awesome! It's pretty great timing now that you're pregnant!
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@missybear: Awww, that's so sweet!! Sounds like they were super excited I would call the OB if I were you, just to keep things moving.
And I'm definitely feeling bloated too! Yikes.
Actually, MissyBear's post reminded me of a question I have. If my LMP started March 1, I'm 4w5d today. So I'm in my fourth week, yes? It just confuses me, because all of the pregnancy apps I downloaded (yep, multiple apps. Sorry, I'm crazy) say things along the lines of 'this week, the embryo implants and will start producing HcG that might be picked up on a pregnancy test!' I know that's generic, but it seems really late to me?? Sorry, this is new to me and I'm feeling like an idiot.
Ugh. I also feel super gross today - nauseated and gaggy. Not fun.
coffee bean / 44 posts
@MissyBear - Aww! Such a sweet story! Thanks for sharing! Super exciting, isn't it? I think sharing with close family & friends early is ok, as long as you know you have their love & support with whatever the outcome is. I've already told my husband's parents, and my parents, as well as my inner circle of best friends. Always good to have a support team early on. Congrats!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@theotherstark: I'm super confused about that too. My apps only tell me to input my EDD and they keep saying I'm like 4 weeks along but since I O'd on 3/16, I know I'm not even 3 weeks yet!
In my non expert opinion you are almost 5 weeks! I count starting the day I ovulated? I have no idea really...
ETA: I think they make the "you should find out you're pregnant" so late bc not everyone does TWW like us crazies and some women might just be realizing they're missing their periods?
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
@theotherstark: I was thinking the exact same thing.. Um,that happened last week..
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
So, I was complaining to DH about bloat and pants not fitting and he said maybe I should hit the gym more. I told him, I'm barely eating anything since food repulses me, it's water weight... He then says, oh that makes sense.
coffee bean / 44 posts
@TheOtherStark - No worries. I'm still learning, too. I would count 2 weeks after your period as week 2 and two weeks after that week 4. Everyone's cycle is different, so it's hard to pinpoint when actual ovulation & implantation occurred if you're not charting or using fancy apps or gadgets! I'm totally feeling you on the whole nauseous & gaggy thing. Things smell weird to me, too. HA!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MrsMangoMochi: Ohh so you don't count starting from ovulation/conception... So that's why I'm 4 weeks... *light bulb goes on*
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@snowjewelz: Ha, yep - you count from the first day of your LMP It's so weird.
apricot / 348 posts
@theotherstark: I was going to ask the same question too. On the app I downloaded and the NHS health website, they ask you for the first day of your cycle (so 6th march for me) and they tell me I am 3 weeks and 6 days pregnant but actually I can't be as I only ovulated 2 weeks ago?!
Apparently the doctors use that same date too and not O date so I'm always going to think I'm actually a week behind where the doctors say I am. Not that I'm complaining as I'd rather be further along! It's still confusing though.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Mrs.Lilac: Yeah!! This whole time I was thinking I'm like 2 weeks! It IS a good thing tho
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
@Mrs.Lilac: @theotherstark: I would be shocked if our EDDs don't change after our first dating U/S. And doubly shocked if we actually have our LOs on our EDD.
grape / 88 posts
@theotherstark: I know, it's so confusing! I downloaded like 5 apps (oh my gosh im crazy) and they all say "Your baby is 5 weeks old today!" except the What to Expect one, which is welcoming me to the 6th week... confusing. I'm also gagging like crazy too... I was gagging just thinking about my breakfast, and even eating it I was. It's rough. But worth it!

@MrsMangoMochi: I wouldn't assume you will have CVS or amnio based on your age. I was 37 when my first was born and did not have any extra testing done. We spoke with a genetic counselor and did the blood testing and U/S and that was all. I'm currently 39 and will be 40 when this one is born.
coffee bean / 44 posts
@MamaG: Hi! Thanks for your info! That is helpful to know. Everyone keeps telling me they do additional testing 35 and AFTER, so that's what got me worried. Congrats to you! Nice seeing you here!
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@littlek: We'll see. I've sort of resigned myself to the fact that I'll probably go late Hopefully not, though. But I do wonder if they'll change my EDD. I've been using the EDD based on when I ovulated, so it's possible it will change.
@missybear: Yeah, I don't know why but today just seems worse. I've still been trying to eat as much as possible while it still stays down, but it's been a struggle!
My PCP called me today and said that my HcG level at 19dpo (when I got my blood drawn on Tuesday) was 974. Which looks like it's within the normal range? I hope?
pomelo / 5298 posts
@MrsMangoMochi: My OB did consider me AMA (advanced maternal age) and her main concern really was with my placenta staying healthy for the full pregnancy. We talked a lot about my age, but she really wasn't worried about genetic issues. I have a very good friend whose doctor was even less concerned and she was over 40. It might be doctor dependent.
And just for the record, I'm the old one here My poor kiddos will grow up with old parents.

Crazy to think that some women don't even think about what week they are in. Did you see the news story about the woman who didn't know she was even pregnant? I mean, really? http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2014/04/conn-woman-gives-birth-didnt-know-she-was-pregnant/
I'm not knocking her, but how could you NOT know?
pomelo / 5298 posts
@littlek: I fully expect to go early as I will have a repeat c-section. I was induced nearly a week early with my first. I expect this one to come 1-2 weeks early. That would make me a November mom, but I'm sticking it out here.
coffee bean / 44 posts
@MamaG: A very close friend of mine actually gave birth last June to her second and she was 44 (our sons are the same age, that's how we met, and she was 39 when she had her first)! Gwen Stefani is in her 40's, too! If you still got it, you've got it!
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
@MamaG: I expect I will go early too. I had LO 6 weeks early. My goal is to make it to 37 weeks.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@theotherstark: Yay! Glad to know your # is good.. I think it's pretty high?
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
@theotherstark: sounds good. It's really hard to tell much from betas unless you go in every 2 or 3 days and confirm the # is doubling.
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@snowjewelz: @littlek: Yeah, that is what it sounds like, so I guess I won't know if it's doubling, but at least it's within 'normal' range. My PCP seemed satisfied, at least, so that's good enough for me
I also called my ob/midwife group about the spotting, and they didn't seem too concerned. She said that some spotting from weeks 4-7 is pretty normal, and that I should go to the ER only if it gets really heavy/bright red, or if I get really bad cramps on one side.
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
@theotherstark: Has it stopped? I had a lot of spotting my first pregnancy. It's scary but everything was fine.

@snowjewelz: We are planning to go to the East coast to see my family at the end of May for our yearly visit / anniversary trip. I'm hoping to hold out til then to announce it to them because it's also around my sisters bday & I want to give her something about being an aunt. We usually go in Sept to see DH's family, but we might move that up to Aug or so.
I think I have a gas bubble or something on my side that's annoying me, but that's it so far. (The nurse mentioned possible gallbladder issue but said we'll check it out at my appt)
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@AngelicOne: That would be such a nice surprise for them! I admire you for keeping it from your own family for that long though! But their reactions will be so worth it!
