The nausea has started to set in today and I guess i have a completely disgusted look on my face bc everyone kept asking of I was ok today. Sucking on hard candles help and also eating...my LO and I ate about 6 mandarin oranges after lunch bc it made me feel so much better. And then I crashed for 2 hours during her nap time. So there is no dinner prepped and dishes are still in the sink . I'm so glad it's the weekend!

Hi everyone, still following along in the hopes of joining you! Excited for you all and glad everything seems to be going so well on the Dec board.

I think I might be able to clear up the due date/weeks confusion a little bit.

Pregnancy is traditionally dated by LMP (last menstrual period), because in the days before ovulation sticks and boards like this that teach about temping, the overwhelming majority of women had no idea when they ovulated. A due date based on LMP presumes a "perfect" 28 day menstrual cycle with ovulation occurring on day 14.

And, yeah, this way of counting means you are 2 weeks pregnant on the day you ovulate. Before conception even occurs. Cause that makes sense, right?

A due date based on ovulation is more accurate, but, fewer women know when ovulation happened. You can trick the due date predictors that are based on LMP by just giving them a fake LMP that's 14 days before your O day. Works whether you have short/long/wonky cycles or just don't know your LMP.

@littlek: I remember drinking cartons of OJ my first pregnancy

It's been busy this week bc LO is on "spring break" so I didn't get my usual breaks this week when I usually get my HB time. We've been doing zoo and shopping/lunch play dates that take up the entire morning and by the time I get home it's nap time and I need to get dinner prepped, dishes put away and laundry folded...so not much HB time . Can't wait for her classes to start back up next week :). Can I just say I'm soooo excited to hear about your appointment next week! And to see B's photo shoot!

@sandy: Thanks! I'm super busy this weekend so hopefully I won't even think about anything. I hope you can get the nausea under control!

Hi everyone! I'm joining you too I'm new to Hellobee and just found out I'm pregnant last week! I'm really excited and hope we all have healthy and easy pregnancies!

    EDD: December 3, 2014

When Did You Find Out?: Last weekend!

Child Number: 2. My oldest is 16 months, so they'll be 2 years and a month apart.

Where do you live?: New York

What kind of provider will you see?: The same OB I saw last time.

When's Your First Appointment?: April 22. Yikes. I'm going crazy waiting...

What kind of birth do you want?: Same as last time, as long as it's safe for baby!

What You're Most Excited For: My son will have a little sibling! We were on the fence about having more kids, because we don't have a lot of help with child care, but I just couldn't imagine B as an only child. It'll be awesome that they'll be close in age, I hope it helps them be close as they grow up.

What You're Most Scared About: Logistics. How will we live with two babies in a small apartment? How will I care for two young kids at once? What are we going to do about childcare? With B, we got creative about ways to keep him at home till he was one. I don't think we'll be able to do that with two kids And also scared of miscarriage... but trying not to think about that.

Symptoms so far: None! those of you who have symptoms, I think you're so lucky! I'm not even peeing more. Can't wait for some cravings, or something...

Post a picture... any picture! OK, I feel silly, but I can't figure out how. Must be the pregnancy brain.

@Mama Bird: congratulations and welcome!! I am also going nuts with the wait until the first appt

@sandy: uggggh, I am feeling super nauseous today too I haven't thrown up, thankfully, but just have that nasty nauseous feeling. Yucky. Maybe some oranges will help.

So, in clumsy news, I dropped my phone and broke it so DH is having to get me another phone today. Oops.. I'm so freaking clumsy.

Hey mamas! I am excited but nervous to be making my first post here, congrats to everyone, this site seems sweet.
    EDD: December 5!
When Did You Find Out?: this past Monday although I had my suspicions for a week or so
    Child Number: 1
    Where do you live?: NYC
What kind of provider will you see. OBGyn
When's Your First Appointment?: this monday april 8!
What kind of birth do you want?: natural if possible
What You're Most Excited For: My partner being a papa. He loves kids and is better with them than me.
What You're Most Scared About: miscarriage. I had two due to an undiagnosed septate uterus. Now that it has been surgically corrected our chances are better but I'm cautiously optimistic
Symptoms so far: backaches, sleepiness, growing boobs (my favorite symptom), sometimes dizzy if I stand up too fast

No pics yet but I'm visualizing rainbows (cheesy i know) and trying to think positive thoughts!

@MrsMangoMochi: my parents bought me some candied ginger last time to help with the nausea but I couldn't keep it down. I might try ginger tea this time. Last time I had a bag of dum-dum lollipops in my office and a box of mentos. This time I am bought some Preggi Pops and my friend bought me some too and they do help.

  24. littlek

    GOLD / squash / 13576 posts

@sandy: I have those. They work for me too. For some reason the thought of ginger makes me nauseuous. Along with contraction sites apparantely, I went on my morning run/jog and I got sick running past a dumpster.

@MrsMangoMochi: Thanks! I thought I would help out the group!

  25. sandy

@littlek: exactly... The thought/smell of ginger makes me sick...how is that supposed to help? Ginger ale did nothing for me. My GP said working out helped her nausea...do you find that to be true? That just sounds awful getting sick while running

@magnolia: congratulations! good to have you here

Sorry to those of you who aren't feeling well I haven't gotten really sick yet, but I'm definitely not as interested in eating and a little queasy at times. I'm dreading the m/s starting for real but it also makes me nervous when I don't feel sick because I think something must be wrong!

Also - I had to "out" myself to 3 people at work yesterday! Last pregnancy I didn't tell anyone at work until 14 weeks, so I'm not thrilled by the circumstances. I was supposed to take a critical patient from the wards (I'm an ICU nurse) and then found out that he had recently gotten radioactive seeds implanted as a cancer treatment. I had to ask a few people to shuffle their patient assignments around so that I could keep baby safe but... what was my other option? It was people that I don't know very well that I had to tell too - not even my good friends at work. Oh well I know that @MsMini: said the same thing happened to her already too.

I did tell my mom on Thursday and she is SO excited. She was playing with my daughter and her baby doll. M was trying to put the baby's pacifier in and my mom said "you're going to have to learn how to do that some day" and I just said "yup - in December!". She was thrilled! Hopefully I'll see my sister tomorrow and can tell her too.
