February 2017 moms!

@gilmoregirl: totally I'm jealous your nt scan is next week! I'm 2/5 and they fit me in on 8/1. Such a long time to wait. I have my 2nd OB appt next week so at least I should get to hear heartbeat.

    I need prayers y'all.

I'm having my progesterone monitored every other month, and it's started dropping.

Two week ago it was 24 (ok, but not great). Today it's 19 (it should be like 29)

I've been taking supplements orally, but my doctor said I should take them vaginally to get a higher dose, until I receive shots she's called in.

DH will have to give me shots in the butt. But because of his work hours, I might also have to find someone else to be his back up when he works late. Um, how do you go about asking someone to give yourself a shot in the butt?

@gilmoregirl: lol, yes to requesting chill babies. DS was actually a great baby, but horrible at sleep. What if LO 2 is worse, gah!
@MrsA: I don't even have my 1st OB till Aug. 10th... I need to hear the heartbeat to make this real!
    @MaryM: Sending prayers your way!!!

@MaryM: sending you lots of good thoughts! And if you have a good friend nearby...ask!! I'm the back-up shot giver for a friend who's doing ivf and I thought nothing of her asking me. It's what friends do!

  7. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

@MrsA: None of my closest friends live nearby. Of the people I've told, they're all pretty far away.

I have a childhood friend sort of close who's a nurse, so I may as her. She's one of few people nearby that I can think of that don't have little kids who might be free in the evening.

Or else, I have a feeling my neighbor might be the next choice. But that just seems to be such an awkward request! "Remember that time we lent you our coolers? In return, could you shove a needle in my butt?"

I wish my mom was closer.

  8. MrsA

@MaryM: another option: have your DH mark the spot to inject with a sharpie, then you have a way to aim if worst case you need to do it yourself using a mirror? My friend has done that before too.

  9. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

@MrsA: I asked my doctor if she had instructions for self-administering, and she said she really doesn't recommend it.

It has to be given really slowly (over 2 minutes) to avoid being really painful, and she says that's really difficult to do behind you.

I'm already skittish enough about the shots I do in my belly, I can't imagine doing one in an area I can't see.

@MaryM: ah gotcha. I'm sorry 2 minutes! Wow.

Well I found my one-size-up pants that I saved just for this time and am so much more comfortable! Add a blousy shirt and I look like I ate way too much on vacation but not pregnant! Three more weeks until I can share.

@MaryM: lots of good thoughts coming your way! Hope you'll find a solution for the nights your DH is away.

I have my follow up scan on Thursday and I am getting anxious. On a more positive note I totally might be imagining things but I am starting to feel bubbles/tickles. Really hope the two are hanging on tight and growing well.

    EDD: 2/16/17
Will you find out or team green? We had thought about going when we were thinking it was one in there. But with two, we'll find out. Never would we find / / combinations.
Symptoms? I have had a couple of days were I didn't feel so well but overall if I eat carbs regularly I do okay. I do need to rest a lot though. Exhaustion is crazy somedays.
Most excited about: All of it, it will be a crazy ride.
Most worried/nervous about: something going wrong with either twin.
Purchase anything for the baby yet? No, and we won't for quite another while.
Do you have names picked?? Care to share??? You're joking right?

    EDD: Feb. 11

Will you find out or team green? We'll find out. We're doing NIPT next week.

Symptoms? They're pretty off an on, but some sore boobs, occasional nausea but no vomiting. Some reflex gagging though. I was wiping my niece's nose this weekend and it was extra slimy/green and I couldn't help gagging. More emotional this week than I have been.

Most excited about: Hopefully a healthy baby. I'm hoping the hormone protocols I'm going through this time will be what we were missing out on previously.

Most worried/nervous about: A hopefully healthy baby.

Purchase anything for the baby yet? No. And we probably won't for a while. I do have some gender neutral stuff I got last pregnancy that we'll use either way.

Do you have names picked?? Care to share??? I do, but haven't really discussed them with DH (I don't think?). If it's a boy it'll be a Tre. If it's a girl, I get to pick. But I don't know when I'll share. Last time as soon as I told Dh what I was considering, he told everyone, so I might wait longer this time.

@gilmoregirl: glad you aren't feeling too sick this time around
@josina: I gagged a little when brushing w DD but this time it's like full on almost vomiting!! and I love emma. That was my #1 pick for DD but DH vetoed it. Maybe I should bring it up again and act nonchalant
    @Pumuckl: two names
@MaryM: did you ever take progesterone before? I am soo praying for you mama!!

  17. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

    @Ajsmommy: I did. Both pregnancies.

But for the first one, I didn't get on it until close to 5 weeks and I think it was too late.

Last pregnancy, my doctors insisted that I stop it after 12 weeks because the placenta is supposed to take over then. But they weren't monitoring my levels. Gigi passed about two weeks after I finally stopped it.

This time I'll be monitored every other week throughout the pregnancy and my meds will be adjusted accordingly. If it goes up, I may get to stop the shots.

    persimmon / 1273 posts

@MrsA: I kinda wish mine was later! I'll only be 11 weeks and we just saw baby today. So I feel like not much will have changed..

  19. gilmoregirl

    persimmon / 1273 posts

@Pumuckl: carbs seem to do the trick for me too. I'm trying not to go crazy but all I want is bread and fruit.

@Ajsmommy: I have to stop freaking out about it not feeling sick and just be grateful. I am really grateful. It's just also giving me some anxiety.

@MaryM: I'm soo hopeful for you and so sorry this is so stressful. I wouldn't have a clue who to turn to if I needed someone to give me shots -- it's hard to be away from your people.

  20. MrsA

    apricot / 444 posts

@Pumuckl: I told DH the other day that if it wasn't so early I'd say I was feeling something! Just little tickles! But so early...I didn't feel anything until 16-ish weeks with dd? I don't know if it's real.

  21. MrsA

    I'll play!

    EDD: 2/5
Will you find out or Team Green: Oh, I'm way too Type A to be Team Green! We'll find out at the anatomy scan. I declined Materniti21 unless necessary.
Symptoms: Fatigue, nausea, food aversions. Nausea is manageable for most of the day with Diclegis but I have bad days every so often. The exhaustion is killer!
Most excited about: Meeting this new bean! Seeing my DD as a big sister. Having a belly and being able to tell people!
Most worried/nervous about: How my DD will react Labor. How breastfeeding will go this time. Having two kids and never having a moment to myself.
Purchase anything for baby yet?: I wasn't going to because I'm too nervous about jinxing things but I got a Lillebaby carrier on Amazon prime day. Whoops.
Do you have names picked?: Oh gosh no. DH refuses to discuss until we know if we're having a boy or girl. We used our only agreed on girl name for DD so...that will be fun.

@MaryM: Would it be progesterone in oil (PIO)? You can totally do them yourself, if needed. A lot of the IVF ladies have to do the PIO and have figured it out. It might not hurt to pop over there and ask for suggestions. It's also in the upper outside quadrant of the buttock, so it's doable. I've also heard to warm up the PIO to make it go in easier (I'm guessing that is what they would have you take). Good luck!

  23. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

    @NorthStar: It is.

I've seen tutorials where it can be done, but my doctor doesn't suggest it because the shots end up being more painful if you try to do them yourself. And when you're doing it twice a week for so long (possibly up to 36/38 weeks), she's pretty serious about trying to make it not hurt.

Once I saw where they actually go, I'm less concerned about asking someone to help (since it's above butt crack level)

  24. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

@MaryM: I totally get it! I had an option of that or the vaginal suppositories and am doing the vaginal ones. I know that it does not feel great, so it's good that your Dr has your best interests in mind. If it's anything like my HCG shot in the same area, I actually didn't even feel it go in. But, that area was flipping sore for a number of days. 2x a day is not fun!

@MrsA: it was a new roll call. I have a few things.saved on my amazon wish list but haven't purchased yet

So we had an eventful / late night in the er last night. We hurt DD'S arm.at the playground. They didn't find any fractures but her elbow is really hurting her. She has a splint and sling and follow up at the orthopedic tomorrow

I am back from Vegas and trying to catch up. Sorry that I missed most of your posts the past few days.

    EDD: 2/16
Will you find out or team green? Team green and not by my choice! I'm very type A and want to find out, but my husband doesn't. We didn't find out with DD either, but I would really like to know this time around. oh well.
Symptoms? Zilch, except for kind of tender breasts. I actually wish that I had some symptoms so that I felt pregnant.
Most excited about: For DD to be a big sister. She is 4 and I know that she will be over the moon once we tell her.
Most worried/nervous about: That this baby is still growing. I have no reason to be concerned, but I seriously don't even feel pregnant. I'm counting the days until my first real 'appointment' where they will check for a heartbeat. I'm so scared for that appointment.
Purchase anything for the baby yet? Nope - I'm too scared to yet. We have a ton of stuff from DD, so we "shouldn't" need much; however, since it's been so long, I would like some new things.
Do you have names picked?? Care to share??? Haven't even discussed it.

  29. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

@NorthStar: I'm on the vaginal suppositories until the shots show up. I feel SO disgusting. Ugh.

I do HCG shots too, but those I'm able to do in my belly (they're into fat instead of muscle). If I do them right they don't hurt at all. But the first one I gave myself a massive bruise!

  30. NorthStar

    pear / 1881 posts

@MaryM: wear panty liners! Yeah, they are disgusting and I'm doing those 3x per day. the belly shots aren't bad, it's definitely the intramuscular!!

  31. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

@NorthStar: I wore a panty liner last night and it wasn't nearly enough protection. But I was also taking 2 pills at once. I think I might prefer shots to having various consistencies of liquid leaking out of me.

@josina: I might have to swing by chickfila on my way home.

Or maybe Target for some frozen fries. Putting cheese and sour cream on them is sounding amazing.

@Ajsmommy: what a sweetheart! Hope she's doing ok today.

@MaryM: @josina: I've had a lot of French fries lately. Pretty much every chance I get. Pretty sure tonight's chicken fingers and tater tots because I'm way too tired to cook.
