@MaryM: omg! I was going to make lo pasta w cauliflower today (and even already sauteed the cauliflower...) but we may have to order burgers and fries in instead, lol

@MaryM: national French fry day is an awesome
day! I want to celebrate too
Funny from a few weeks ago: I was really craving fries so my DH got some with his meal for me. They were "fancy" like made in-house, and so unsatisfying because I was hankering for greasy, fast food fries! So sad.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes for DD.
Yay for national french fry day! We had mcd's fries last night after 11 pm ( on our way home). And I have to admit they tasted pretty darn great!

@MaryM: are you on Makena? I am currently on the shots and I was told I could inject into my thigh of needed. Just to make sure that it went into the muscle and not on top.
pomelo / 5129 posts
@MrsRcCar: it's generic progesterone from a compounding pharmacy.
My dr didn't recommend the thigh (I think because it hurts more). I might resort to it if I *have* to, but I think I'll try to find a back up first. Or just see if maybe DH can request to work days on Mondays and Thursday's.

@MaryM: Yeah it wasn't my doctors first choice but an option if needed. I get my shots on Fridays before my husband leaves for work. Although I travel often so my SIL has done my shots, my FIL and my dad as well. If know a nurse nearby I would just say hey my husband could give me my shot today would you mind?

@MaryM: just catching up on the boards now. Sending lots of prayers your way that the shots are effective!

@Ajsmommy: sorry to hear about your DD! That must have been so scary! Hope she is feeling better soon!

I am seriously the pits at keeping up on here. My last birth month group migrated to Facebook really quickly, which is so much easier for me to stay up on since I get notifications, and let's be honest, I'm always on Facebook. Not sure if anyone would be interested in a FB group, but if there's interest I'd be happy to start it up!
As for me, I had my first midwife appointment today. We opted not to do any genetic screening, so we won't get to see babe on the U/S til the anatomy scan around 20 weeks. Womp!
EDD: February 14, 2017
Will you find out or team green? We will most likely find out. We were team green last time at my request, but DH is pushing to know this time.
Symptoms? Nausea, food aversions, weird cravings (last night, I HAD to have roast beef and mashed potatoes) some vomiting, pure exhaustion.
Most excited about: Newborn snuggles. Seeing DD as a big sister.
Most worried/nervous about: something going wrong with the pregnancy, adjusting to a family of 4, dividing my time equally and fairly and maintaining my marriage and personal sanity!
Purchase anything for the baby yet? No, vur I almost bought a double stroller on Amazon Prime the other day, but it sold out before I could commit!
Do you have names picked?? Lol!! No, DH and I will probably be arguing about names til the bitter end.

Like @gentlelunette: I am not doing a stellar job keeping tabs on our thread! Catching up a bit and wishing everyone the absolute best as we all slowly inch closer to the second trimester.
Had my first ultrasound earlier this week, and everything looks great, so far - what a freaking relief. It was so cool to see the little gummie bear, in there. They did see a tiny hemmorage/bleed on the scan, but with the absence of spotting, my midwife seemed totally unconcerned and assumed it would reabsorb in the coming weeks.
EDD: February 9, 2017 - they bumped me by two days!
Will you find out or team green? Oh, we're totally going to find out. I have a hunch, so I'm curious to know if I'm right.
Symptoms? Horrible, relentless nausea (thank goodness for Diclegis, the unicorn tears of prescriptions), food aversions, and general lethargy.
Most excited about: Giving our daughter a sibling, definitely. Also stoked on newborn cuddles, tiny toes, and babywearing. And, I'll admit, I'm excited to buy clothes in itty bitty sizes, again.
Most worried/nervous about: I'm extra anxious when pregnant, so obviously I fear something going wrong. Otherwise, just adjusting to being a family of four and hitting a decent groove.
Purchase anything for the baby yet? Not yet, but I've added a bit on a hidden Amazon registry.
Do you have names picked?? Yes. My beloved dad passed last summer, so we'll be honoring him by giving our new little one a variation of his first and/or middle name.

First tri bloodwork done! Feels like a silly milestone but I was excited to get that over with. How are you ladies today?
pomelo / 5129 posts
@MrsA: My bloodwork (with NIPT) is next friday!
I'm super sad today. My nephew texted me that one of their pigs died unexpectedly. As if that wasn't sad enough, she was pregnant with piglets and probably would have had them next week.
I normally don't get this sad about animals... lol
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@MaryM: Aww, sad, especially with the little piglets!
@MrsA: 1 "silly milestone" at a time!
I am tired, but blaming that on my toddler who was wide awake from 1 to 3 last night.
Someone pleeeease promise me that 2nd kids sleep better?
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@MrsA: yeah great milestone!
I had my 9w u/s to check on the twins today and all looked amazing. Both measured right on track and had strong heartbeats!
kiwi / 698 posts
@MrsA: It's nice to get those things done and over with!
@MaryM: oh, that is sad I'm sorry to hear about that mama pig passing.
@josina: I'm super worried about a new baby messing up the groove we're in. My DD sleeps like a dream (with the odd night) and I'm afraid the baby will either throw her off, or be a total sleep nightmare!
@Pumuckl: yay! So glad the babes looked great!
I'm okay. Finding I get super nauseous midday, which contributes to my afternoon slump. I can hardly get anything done at work because I feel so rotten. Then I come home and I'm ravenous, but all I want to eat is salted popcorn and sour jujubes. Hahaha
pomelo / 5129 posts
@Ajsmommy: Great News!
Another small victory yesterday, we "caught up." We got back to the day we thought we were (9w5d) when our due date was changed last week based on measurements.
One more week until the next follow up and NIPT.

Hi moms! I used to post at WeddingBee. Thread stalk here but never posted. Excited to be expecting our second baby in February! Seems like there are a lot of other second time moms on this thread so I thought it would be nice to post.
EDD: Feb. 7, 2017
Will you find out?: Yes, I'm so inpatient. Getting NIPT next week and I feel guilty saying this but primarily because I want to know the sex sooner (I'm low risk otherwise)
Symptoms: I had the easiest pregnancy ever with my son - not even a hint of nausea, ever - so this has been different is that I've had that queasy feeling much more often. Only threw up once though, and the nauseous feeling usually passes pretty quickly so it could be worse. I'm also exhausted. I put my son to bed at 8 and then go to bed myself and sleep for like 11 hours.
Most excited about: cuddling a teeny tiny newborn again, and just being a family of 4. I always dreamed of a big family and I'm so excited to be able to see our family grow.
Most nervous about: messing up the awesome routine we've got going. Having one kid seems totally doable now and we are in a groove - I know it's about to all get turned upside down, so I am nervous about that. Also nervous to see how my son reacts, hopefully he loves his new sibling and isn't too jealous or doesn't feel too sad about the loss of all mommy's attention. Also nervous about the financial strain of two daycare tuitions.
Purchase anything yet: I bought a used rock n play because I didn't have one with my son even though everyone raved about them. Been tempted to get clothes based on the gender intuition I've been having but better to hold off.
Names picked? We have a running list for both boys and girls. Boys are harder because the only name we really love we used already. Have a bunch of ones we both love for a girl though, so it would be tough to narrow that down, too.
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@maggierose: Welcome, how old is DS? What is your intuition telling you for gender?
So far everyone is thinking girl for me, but I don't find out until 20 weeks.
kiwi / 698 posts
@Ajsmommy: that's great!
@MaryM: that's super. Baby had a growth spurt!
@maggierose: welcome! I totally am feeling the nerves on messing with our groove. My daughter is so easy and enjoyable right now (15 months) and I'm a bit scared to rock the boat!

@maggierose: welcome!
For those of you who have older los, when are you planning on telling them? Or have you already? Lo basically already knows I think--she keeps asking me if I have a baby in my tummy One of her daycare teachers is pregnant so I think that's why? Or maybe she's just super perceptive since we talk about it around her. And she's been pretend-playing lately that her doll and stuffed animals are either her baby or "baby sister" and she's been really tenderly taking care of them
We want to wait a little longer--I'm going to get the Materniti21 bloodwork done this week, so I think we'll wait for those results to tell her (plus then we'll know if it's a brother or sister!)
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@nana87: Aw, so sweet. Sounds like she'll be a great big sis!
We've told DS but at 19 months not like he'll get it. Big Sis (my step daughter) is with her mom for the summer but gets back early August so I think we'll tell her either right when she gets back or wait till the following week after my first OB appt. I'm trying to think of some cute way to tell her, (she's 13) so any ideas welcome.
apricot / 444 posts
We were going to tell DD (2.5) after the NT scan, but she's also been asking if I have a baby in my belly and playing with "sister" doll so...maybe she knows! I got her a big sister shirt and book so we'll still do that.
pomegranate / 3355 posts
@nana87: DD is 2.5 and DH already kinda told her. But I'm not sure if she "gets" it or not. But she has been bringing up that her "baby sister is coming soon" and then "baby brother is coming soon"...sooo??? maybe she does get it after all??
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@nana87: we told LO1 this weekend and he proceeded to tell his daycare teachers Oh well it's not really possible to hide the belly anyway.
I also told my direct boss and HR on Friday. Just so they don't plan on me past November. I think my OB will also push me to reduce hours soon especially with my history of cervix trouble. So it only felt fair.
Now FX I don't have to untell anything.

Cautiously joining.
My due date board last time (September 2015 due date board) was really inactive. I never actually posted anything to it but just lurked there occasionally so I'm excited to see that people are posting on this one!
EDD: I just went to my first appointment last week. I didn't have a last period because I am still breastfeeding my 10 month old son and I never got my period back. Needless to say this pregnancy is a surprise--but a very welcome one! Anyhow, in my doctor's office they don't have the high tech sonogram machine--just a lower tech one--she said that I looked like I was 7-8 weeks (that was last Thursday). 7 weeks would put me at March 1st. 8 weeks would February 22nd. My son was born at 37 weeks so my OB said--until I can get a more accurate due date when I have the scan at the hospital with the better machines--to just plan on the middle to latter part of February.
Will you find out?: Yes. Like someone else said, I'm way too impatient for surprises! I loved knowing last time that a little baby boy was on the way and I want to know again this time.
Symptoms: on again off again nausea. I threw up a lot last week, but knock on wood, seem to be holding my food down better over the last few days.
Most excited about: Watching my two babies 17 months apart grow to be best friends!
Most nervous about: miscarriage. But assuming all goes well, I'm also nervous about managing it all. We're in a good rhythm right now and I don't love that overwhelmed stressed-out feeling (who does?). I have a bit of anxiety when I picture chasing a 17 month old and having a newborn!
Also, last time I was able to take an extended 6 month maternity leave, but I won't qualify for leave again until March 1st--my OB basically told me that there is no way that I'm making that cut-off. I'm not sure how my office/boss/HR department are going to react when they realize that I want to go out for another maternity leave when I've only been back from the last one for 11 months.
Purchase anything yet: Nope. We live in an apartment in a major metropolitan area so I don't have lots of space. I think we'll need to buy a 2nd crib but otherwise (unless I need to buy some girl clothes) I think we're really set for everything.
Names picked? We haven't talked about it and won't until we know the gender. We do have a strong contender for girl name though if we find out we're having a girl. Boy names last time were really hard so if we have to come up with a boy name again, it might be a real challenge!

@WyattnewbabysMama: Welcome to the board and to HB! Glad to have you here!
pomelo / 5129 posts
@Ajsmommy: not for another week. I test every other week.
I finally got my shots Saturday before leaving for a few days vacation. Taking a shot the night before sitting in the car for four hours wasn't a great idea! But the knot has almost worked its way out.

Thank you everyone for the welcomes!
@Josina I tested because I started to feel explainable nausea and actually threw up. I had also had some new soreness while nursing my son. The thought I might be pregnant flitted through my mind and I almost dismissed it immediately ("No way. It took so long and so much effort last time. And I haven't even gotten my period back yet.") but then decided to test to just get it out of my head. INSTANT DOUBLE LINE. Whoa. Guess it is possible to get pregnant while nursing when you haven't had your first postpartum period yet.
cantaloupe / 6171 posts
@josina: oooh I'll try to think of ways to tell your step-daughter, how fun!
@MrsA: ahh these kiddos are so dang perceptive! I ordered a big sister shirt from etsy for lo, but a book is a good idea too!
@Ajsmommy: awww sweet!
@Pumuckl: I almost told lo's daycare teachers last week, haha! but like, that's the whole reason we haven't told lo yet, we aren't ready for her to tell everyone, haha. Her primary teacher and I were talking about how lo has been taking care of her dolls lately and her teacher said "maybe she's trying to give you a hint!" and I wanted to say "well, actually...." but I bit my tongue That's exciting that you told your boss and hr! How did they take it? I probably won't see my grad school advisors until September since they travel over the summer, when I'll def be showing--I have to decide whether I want to email them my news or just wait...though I'll be like 18 weeks when the semester starts!
@WyattnewbabysMama: welcome!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@WyattnewbabysMama: Oh man, I know I tested a few times while nursing just to make sure, I would've been shocked to see that double line! How exciting though!
We got pregnant the first month not preventing - that was shocking enough!
@nana87: Daycare mentioned to us last week how DS will be an awesome big brother because he loves the babies so much (kisses them on the forehead, wants to hold them). Perfect opportunity to tell but I withheld!
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@MaryM: Sorry your shot turned out to be uncomfortable. Hope it'll be better next time. Meanwhile enjoy your vacation!
@nana87: Yeah, I figured oh well, for one it was hard on him because he definitely noticed that I wasn't feeling like my normal self so he was worried for me (I have the most empathetic little boy ever). So really I had felt bad we hadn't told him earlier. And really my belly is measuring a good month ahead so I have quite the bump. It's getting pretty rediculous to hide it.
His daycare teachers this morning told me how he told them, and he was all secretive So really I can't be angry at him. I did tell him though that he doesn't have to tell everyone
I am already getting impatient again for seeing the gummibears. But it is soooo long to go until the 9th! It is quite a relief though that I can usually feel a couple of flutters a day.

@WyattnewbabysMama: welcome!!
@nana87: I can't take credit but my SIL got "I'm a Big Sister" (Joanna Cole I think?) for my DD. I like it because it's realistic and says the baby will cry But really it's a nice book about helping and how she's a big girl.
olive / 60 posts
@josina: Thanks! My son is 22 months. My intuition is also telling me girl and so far all the old wives tales are pointing girl, but who really knows.
@nana87: I've told my son, but obviously he doesn't quite get it because he's so young. I talk about the baby in my belly and he points to my stomach and says "baby" or "shhh, baby sleeping". It's pretty cute.
@WyattnewbabysMama: Welcome! That's an awesome story. I never went on BC after my son was born because we struggled to have him and I figured if it happened on its own, awesome. It didn't happen while I was BF (I didn't get my period back until my son was 14 months) and I weaned at 16 months because I felt like that was preventing me getting pregnant again, and we were ready to wean. It still took 5 months after that but...it happened au naturel, so happy!
cantaloupe / 6171 posts
@Pumuckl: oh lo def notices I haven't been feeling well lately! Esp during our commute--we take the bus and she often insists on being carried, and the way her leg sits/puts pressure on my stomach makes me gag, it's bad news. I really want to tell her so she doesn't worry. "Mama sick?? why?" Also, yay for feeling flutters!! I maaaaaybe felt a little flutter yesterday but I was also really gassy so maybe not, lol
@MrsA: ooh thanks for the rec!
@maggierose: so sweet!
I'm debating when to go in to get my blood drawn for maternit21--my dr said I could stop by anytime after this week to get it done without an appointment. by my lmp I'm 11 weeks, but with my adjusted due date I was measuring about 8.5 weeks at my last appointment 2 weeks ago, so I don't want to go in too early...but I wanna get it done! I think I'm going in tomorrow.
Also waiting on bloodwork to get back from my husband--I had a whole bunch of genetic screening done even though I had gotten it done during my first pregancy, but they must have added more to the tests because I came back as a carrier for something called polycystic kidney disease. It's not a big deal as long as dh isn't also a carrier, so he had his blood drawn last week...so trying not to even think about that yet...
apricot / 444 posts
My appointment for tomorrow was pushed to Friday afternoon Totally understand, she's a solo practitioner and had a surgery come up (and were I to need the surgery I'd sure want non-essential appts pushed for me!) But still bummed. I think I'm feeling a little movement but was looking forward to hearing the heartbeat and seeing a bigger babe to feel better about things. Oh well!
