@WyattnewbabysMama: sounds so uncomfortable!! I'm sorry. But, every time you say "my shingles be shingling" it just cracks me up Glad you're keeping a sense of humor through it!

Ladies, some days when you're nauseous and it's hot as blazes lunch is a smoothie in a bowl. It's delightful!

    @MRSA I'm trying.

Also, I just realized that I thought my username was Wyatt&newbabysmama. Apparently when I made my username it deleted the "&"--I am not sure my username doesn't imply that I'm someone's babymama (which well I guess I am--since I have a baby and I'm his mama) but that phrase wasn't really what I was going for.

@MrsA: @nana87: @MaryM: Good luck with your scans! My results came back normal today, and so we are slowly starting to share. It's nice to be more open about it, although sometime I hate talking about it.

@WyattnewbabysMama: ugh, the shingles sound awful. And it must be so frustrating to get such conflicting advice on whether or not the meds are safe! Hope it passes quickly.

Sorry for all the posts guys -- I am trying to get caught up but struggling to jump between pages.

I'm 12 weeks this week and feeling the exhaustion lifting. I've really only had occasional queasiness this time around, and that seems mostly past as well. I'm feeling sooo grateful to be feeling better already. This pregnancy has been so different than my first!

My clothes are just starting to get a little tight, but I really don't have maternity clothes to get into until the weather cools off, so I'll just be making do until I go back to work in a few weeks. Hopefully I can make it.

My husband is back from his travel on Friday and it cannot come soon enough. Our washer broke with all of my sheets in the machine...so things are getting silly over here.

    New pregnancy achievement.

I had to change my pants right before I left for work because I sneezed one too many times.

I'm so ready for this baby to be big enough that it's not all jammed in my pelvis anymore!

@MrsA: @WyattnewbabysMama: Me too "my shingles be shingling" makes me LOL too! I know they must suck though, my grama had them and she was in a lot of pain for a LONG time it seemed. I hope yours go away soon.
    @MaryM: HA! the joys!

Have You Already Announced? If so how? If not, how do you plan to??
Not yet. I think I want to wait until our first tri screening results come back. I bought DD a shirt and will put her picture on FB in the shirt as our official announcement.

Any plans for nurseries yet? Colors/themes?
Not even a thought... DD is currently in the smallest room we have but the plan was to move her to one of the bigger bedrooms. One is blue and one has mauve (yeah gag) carpet. The mauve room is HUGE. DH wants to move DD to the blue room and baby in DD's current nursery. But we'll see. I guess if it's another girl I won't do much to it but maybe get her a different bedding set.

What's Worse Than You Expected About Your Pregnancy?
Food aversion.. to everything. It's so hard to find something I want to eat!!

    What's Better Than You Expected?
Weight gain. I'm still holding at no weight gained. I was carrying a little extra weight though so we'll see how it all pans out

    Do You Have Any Pets?
Not anymore, I used to have 2 cats. I miss them!!

How Far Along Are You Today: 11 weeks 6 days

Next Appt: First Tri screening on Monday (but I should get a call about NIPT results today)

Have You Already Announced? If so how? If not, how do you plan to?? I've told most everyone I want to tell, but DH hasn't told his mom yet and it's not "facebook official." I think we'll wait until we know the gender and get the NT scan to make it totally public.

I still have my "I'm the little sister" shirt from when I was little, so I'm considering using that for our announcement (editing with blue painters tape if it's a boy). I think it could be a subtle way to honor our daughter without having to say something depressing.

Any plans for nurseries yet? Colors/themes? The color of the room will be the same off white as the rest of our house. DH and I aren't huge on needing to paint since we've only lived there a year. Maybe I'll get a decal or something for one wall, but I don't really think babies care if their rooms are decorated.

What's Worse Than You Expected About Your Pregnancy? anxiety. Pregnancy after miscarriage was hard enough. Pregnancy after a stillbirth is a hell no one can imagine!

What's Better Than You Expected? My doctor. I'm glad he's willing to see me as often as I want to be seen. And that he's willing to admit what he's really good at and what I should see others for (like the NT)

Do You Have Any Pets? No. DH and I are both allergic to cats and dogs. But my brother runs a farm so it's pretty much like visiting a pet farm when we go there (chickens, turkeys, ducks, pigs, and soon, sheep - and a dog to guard them)

    @Ajsmommy: fun questions!

How Far Along Are You Today: 12w 4d according to lmp though about a week behind according to measurements

Next Appt Monday is my nt scan, then Wednesday w my dr. I should get back materniti21 results by Wednesday too

Have You Already Announced? If so how? If not, how do you plan to?? We've been telling people as we see them (like my aunt and uncle were in town yesterday so we told them) but no public announcement yet. Once we get the results next week from nt and materniti21 we'll tell lo-- we have a big sister shirt for her so I think we'll tell daycare and maaaaybe put it on social media?? We didn't put it on fb until after 20 weeks last time so not sure

Any plans for nurseries yet? Colors/themes? S/he will share a room with lo, so it's just a matter of getting a toddler bed for lo or another crib (lo's concerts to a toddler bed so we have to decide if we want to convert her or get a cheaper toddler bed)

What's Worse Than You Expected About Your Pregnancy? I get really bad, uncomfortable gas pains at night

What's Better Than You Expected? Morning sickness was way worse w lo!

Do You Have Any Pets? 2 dogs!

  14. josina

    pomegranate / 3973 posts

    @Ajsmommy: Love these.
@MaryM: I can't even imagine the anxiety on your end! Soo cute to still have the little sister shirt you wore!! My mom says I'm having a girl because she has all my baby clothes she wants to put a DD in to wear/have pictures in.

How Far Along Are You Today: 10 weeks 2 days

Next Appt: August 10th - 12 weeks, history and first OB appt.. FINALLY get to hear the heartbeat.

Have You Already Announced? If so how? If not, how do you plan to??
No, other than to a few close family/friends. Definitely waiting till we hear a heartbeat. I have a shirt made for DS that says Big Bro est. Feb. 2012 so probably a pic of him in that.

Any plans for nurseries yet? Colors/themes?
LO will share a room w/ DS's which is a blue-gray color with a woodland theme. If its a girl I'll add some pops of coral or pink to girly her half up a bit. She will get DS's crib and he's getting a toddler bed.

What's Worse Than You Expected About Your Pregnancy?
    Brushing my teeth! Horrible!

    What's Better Than You Expected?
Everything else has been pretty similar to my first pregnancy.

    Do You Have Any Pets?
    2 dogs, a cat, and 2 fish.

  15. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

    @josina: I think it's a boy, but there's still a little hope that it's a girl.

I have a few really special clothes too. Like the baptism dress my uncle knit. It has pink flowers on it so it really won't work for a boy!

  16. WyattnewbabysMama

    olive / 59 posts

How Far Along Are You Today: Approximately 9 1/2 weeks. Don't have an exact count because when I went to my first appointment, I only got an estimate. I don't have a last missed period (b/c I hadn't gotten my period back after having baby1) and the ultrasound machine at the office (as opposed to the hospital) isn't very advanced. I'm hoping to get a more precise estimate on my next appointment.

    Next Appt: August 10th

Have You Already Announced? If so how? If not, how do you plan to?? Not officially but I've been telling good friends as I see them in the past week. I really don't want my work to know yet because I'm worried my boss will instantly think I just got back from my first maternity leave!

Any plans for nurseries yet? Colors/themes? We live in NYC so we only have two bedrooms. New baby will move in with big brother as soon as we can get him/her sleeping somewhat through the night. Right now our nursery has a sleeper sofa, a crib, and a dresser in it. I think we'll have to sell the sofa (losing our only place for guests to sleep--boo) and buy a new crib because I don't want to have to move my will-be-only-17-month-old-first-baby out of his crib yet. His crib is the Pottery Barn Petite Kendall crib in white--which my in-laws gifted to us. It's expensive so I'm hoping I can find the same one 2nd hand because my OCD really wants the cribs to match!

What's Worse Than You Expected About Your Pregnancy? SHINGLES!! (Yep. They still be shingling.)

What's Better Than You Expected? I think I might be getting over the worst of the nausea. Which is awesome. And way faster than last time (or maybe I'm more pregnant that I think I am?) Of course I don't want to jinx anything and of course less puking does leave me sometimes anxious that something is wrong (I puked multiple times a day until 20 weeks or so last time) but I'm just choosing to hope/believe that it's the anti-nausea meds which I started way way faster this time.

Do You Have Any Pets? One. The sweetest snuggliest 10 year old dog. He's been great so far with my first baby--really I guess he's my first baby--but he's been great so far with my first human baby.

How Far Along Are You Today: 12 weeks 3 days

    Next Appt: August 4

Have You Already Announced? If so how? If not, how do you plan to?? We've told most of our families and have told friends as we've been seeing them. I had to tell my boss early because I was slated for a trip to a Zika region, so work knows, except for one co-worker who has been struggling with IF who I am worried about telling. I don't know if/when I'll do a FB announcement - I hardly ever use it anymore.

Any plans for nurseries yet? Colors/themes? DD will be sharing a nursery with DS, and his nursery is already kind of neutral (moon/star theme so gray/yellow with some blue). I probably won't do any changes to it. @WyattnewbabysMama: We also have a sleeper sofa in the nursery and is our only place for guests (2 bdrm here as well). I dread getting rid of it because I like to sleep in there when DS is sick and it's really comfy, but I'll probably have to so I can make room for a toddler bed.

What's Worse Than You Expected About Your Pregnancy?
The nausea that still hasn't let up!

What's Better Than You Expected? I'm more laid back. Lunch meat? Sure! A cup of coffee? Every day! A sip of beer here and there? Why not!

Do You Have Any Pets? We have a small dog who is already not that kid friendly, so a little worried about how she'll do with TWO in the house.

Is everyone planning to go back to work after baby? I tentatively am but I'll literally be spending half my salary in daycare. Also, I got a new boss recently who is making my life miserable and so part of me doesn't want to come back. I didn't have the problem the first time, I liked my boss and my job and LO was so demanding that getting away to the office felt like a vacation. But I have a feeling I'll feel differently this time around. My husband says to wait until I'm actually on leave to make the call; it would be way, way too tight financially with only one of us working unless he gets a big raise this year. I don't like the idea of leaving the work force but I also wouldn't rule it out, and just try to cut expenses, at least for 6 months-year and then try to find something else. Who knows. At least thinking about not coming back to work makes me feel happy on days when I am haaaating work.

  21. josina

    pomegranate / 3973 posts

@maggierose: I will definitely be going back. No way we could afford to live off of only one salary, but I know it's sooo hard to go back to work when you're on maternity and leave that little baby home (or at daycare)!
Even worse that I only get 6-7 weeks off.

Is it possible to spend your leave looking for a different job or even a part time job that you'd like better?

  22. Ajsmommy

    pomegranate / 3355 posts

@maggierose: I plan to return however we are in a completely different position now than we were with DD. I know in my heart I can't be a SAHM, my maternity leave was the worst/lowest point of my life. However, I'm not gonna lie that when I was about to come back after DD I was frantically trying to figure out how I could not come back.... of course I came back and it was all ok. Then we couldn't have swung it financially. Now though DH has a job that pays enough that we could lose my income and still make ends meet. Giving up my salary and benefits though is very hard to think about... we'd be giving up our chances to retire early. So I think although I'm sure i'll panic again when its time to return after this LO, ultimately it's best for me to work.

Next Appt: August 10 for checkup and maternit21 test

Have You Already Announced? If so how? If not, how do you plan to?? Everyone that knew that we were doing IVF knows, but we have yet to tell DD, my parents, work and extended family. We will be telling DD tomorrow morning (big sister book and shirt), not sure when my parents (my mom has really been irking me lately, so have no desire to share w her) and not sure about extended family. I don't think that I'll do a FB announcement. I'm too scared of losing this baby, so might wait awhile to share with everyone.

Any plans for nurseries yet? Colors/themes? We will be moving DD to the basement bedroom, so I actually need to finish that first. We also need to get carpet for our family room down there so that it is more finished. The baby will be in DD's current room. I want to paint it, but probably a neutral color, like cream or grey. I am thinking either stenciling one wall or getting temporary wallpaper. Likely won't have a huge theme, but have accents of teal or light blue, coral and not sure what else. Since we are team green, it is difficult.

What's Worse Than You Expected About Your Pregnancy?
I can't accept it yet! I am SO scared of putting my heart into this and getting it broken. I'm hoping that telling DD tomorrow will help.

What's Better Than You Expected? Like with my pregnancy with DD, I have zero symptoms. nada! Which sure makes it easy to keep it covered up at work!

Do You Have Any Pets? No pets. DH is allergic

How Far Along Are You Today: uhm, I don't know 😳 I think 11w + 1... Somehow keeping up to date on it, has gotten more difficult with each pregnancy.

Next Appt: 8/9 for the double NT scan.

Have You Already Announced? If so how? If not, how do you plan to?? We told our parents and siblings after the first u/s with a picture collage of all our u/s and newborn pics adding ? ? for the babies. A lot of other people know incl. work. My belly does a lot of the talking. Although my DH was complementing me yesterday how well my clothes were hiding the belly 😁

Any plans for nurseries yet? Colors/themes?
They'll move into our bedroom for the first months. Then B and J will have to share a room and the twins will move into J's room. No decorating for us. They spend so little time in their room awake that it just doesn't make any sense.

What's Worse Than You Expected About Your Pregnancy?
I second the teeth brushing, makes me dry heave every night.

    What's Better Than You Expected?
Absolutely no food aversion this time. I do have a thing for yoghurt and cucumber though.

    Do You Have Any Pets?
No although my IL used to have a dog until recently and will be getting a new one before the babies arrive.

@maggierose: @nana87: congrats on your girls!!! I'm sort of hoping we have another girl so DD can have a sister, but either way I'm just dying to know. We were team green last time and I'm looking forward to knowing this time around! Only 2 more months til we find out. Haha

Starting to... my family knows and people at work know. We are waiting to tell DH's family til next weekend when we're all together. We are going to have DD wear a "This is what an amazing sister looks like" t-shirt and see if anyone notices. Haha. We'll make it Facebook official eventually.

Any plans for nurseries yet? Colors/themes?
Not really. We might wait until we find out the sex of the baby, but will probably keep it fairly neutral anyway.

What's Worse Than You Expected About Your Pregnancy?
Like @Ajsmommy: Food aversion. I always feel hungry and I never want to eat anything because nothing sounds good!

    What's Better Than You Expected?
Hmm, I can't really think of anything. I don't love being pregnant!

    Do You Have Any Pets?

Second tri then? Or is it 14 weeks now? I have no clue.

Next appt: Monday for the NT scan!

Have you already announced? Close family (parents, siblings, grandparents) know, a few of my close friends. Will announce to more family/friends after the NT scan, but I didn't do a Facebook announcement until 24 weeks (viability) last time so I think we will do the same again

    Any plans for nurseries? Nope.

What's worse than you expected: How tired I am! Pregnancy with a toddler is a whole different ballgame.

What's better than you expected? Well, I've been extremely nauseous but haven't puked so...that's better than my first pregnancy!

Do you have any pets? Yes, a 10 year old beagle! She's been great with DD.

I haven't told work yet, and probably wont for another week or two. (I'm a teacher on summer break, so I'm not really hiding anything from anyone.) We won't do a facebook/social media announcement.

Any plans for nurseries yet? Colors/themes? Nothing concrete until we know the sex of the baby in like...2 months. The baby will get our current guest room, though, which is still pale pink from the previous homeowners and we'll hopefully be painting it gray this week.

What's Worse Than You Expected About Your Pregnancy?
I've had a week of the worst gas of my life which ended last night in the most painful vomit of my life...I feel great today though, so who knows what was up. Also the exhaustion and how utterly incapable I am of doing a lot.

    What's Better Than You Expected?
Very little nausea; only puked once due to gas/something..weight gain is way better than the first time around. I'm still mostly in my regular clothes.

@MrsA: good luck with your scan today!

We had our nt scan this morning, and everything looked great! baby girl was sucking her thumb heart rate was 161 and her nuchal translucency measurement was 2.1, so all good. even though we already had the materniti21 results I was still anxious about it, plus it was SO GOOD to see her! Plus, she was measuring with a 2/6 due date, which was what it would be with my lmp, so she has caught up in size after measuring a week later in my earlier scans. I see my ob on Wednesday and then have the 16 anatomy scan scheduled for 8/29! It would have been the week earlier but we'll be out of town, which sucks because now the 20 week scan is bumped a week, but oh well, at least we already know the sex! The receptionist at the hospital fetal evaluation unit remembered me from my daughter's pregnancy, which is crazy since this is nyc, but also really nice! I was being monitored a lot for that pregnancy though so I was there alllll the time, but still!

Our scan didn't go so well. I knew something was wrong right away, and the tech quickly went to get a dr.

Our little girls heart rate was 60. The NT measurement was large, and the fluid extends down her back. And her intestines are herniated.

They were able to get the NIPT results which were positive for trisomy 18. They did a cvs to see if it was a full trisomy (random) or a translocation (one of us is a silent carrier)

They don't expect she'll live more than another couple of days. I'm waiting for a doctor to call back to schedule a follow up ultrasound

That you all for celebrating her short life with us. We've named her Frances Ruth.
