@Tionn3: I was just talking to a friend who is an OB and she said that the ultrasound measurements are accurate within a week. So unless they are off by more than a week, they don't even think about it. Hopefully that makes you feel a bit better. But I also do understand the anxiety! Hope it gets better as things progress and seem more real.

@bushelandapeck: thank you. No updates.
I filled in my dr that's monitoring hormones, so I'll be increasing my progesterone to be on the safe side.
I'm still having a bit of brown bleeding, but nothing red since the gush Thursday. Thankfully I'm off this week, and working from home Monday before my appointment.
I'm trying to just focus on no blood being a good thing, and accepting any symptom as a positive.
But it hasn't made being around my SIL easier. She's 6 months pregnant with her 10th.

@MaryM: 10th?! Wow, that would be rough. I'm sorry. GL at your appointment Monday.

@MaryM: phew! So glad to hear things are going fine. And wow about your SIL-10?! My sister has 5 and I am shocked by that many!

@Tionn3: I've been feeling (mostly) better too. You just have to take it one day at a time. Remember that a healthy pregnancy is more likely than a miscarriage. Whatever happens will happen and anxiety won't change the outcome. Sending you calm vibes.

@dominobee: Thanks =] I'm trying to think of fun self care activities to schedule for the next 3 weeks. I think so far I'm gonna go get a pedicure, and then I have a dinner scheduled with a friend the following week.

@Tionn3: that's a good idea. Have some stuff to look forward to to break up the next three weeks. I also like thinking about the fact that my BFP was already a month ago! Time does move quickly if you don't fixate too much. Pretty soon our LOs will be graduating from high school! Hahaha.

@MaryM: I've been thinking about you a lot - thanks for checking in!! Glad that things have mostly stopped. Still keeping my fingers crossed for a good appointment.
And oh man, 10!? Wow.

@Tionn3: sounds like a good way to pass the time and ease the anxiety!! I always like having things on the schedule like that.

I called and scheduled my NT scan today. Ah, it seems so far away! They don't cover the NIPs testing for me since I'm not over 35 and am low-risk, so we won't be doing that, as much as I would love to find out the sex early

Hope I caught any updates. Let me know of updated due dates, appts, etc!

Finally had my 1st appointment today! Everything looks good so far. Heartbeat of 160BPM. Measuring on time at 8 weeks 3 days and kept my due date as 2/18. It feels more real now!
Now I am going to be scheduling the NIPT for 10 weeks. Does anyone know if you should still do the NT scan along with the NIPT? I was going to call and ask tomorrow.

@bushelandapeck: I'm on the December/Jan group but saw this. Call your ob and ask for their materniti21 contact. We got the bill for $8k and our responsibility was $700. I called our ob asking about lowering it (we are on hdhp too) and she referred me to their local Rep. Get this: cash rate was $225 (and I could use my HSA money). We rolled over on jul 1 so I wasn't going to meet our deductible anyway. Just a heads up to anyone out there looking at giant bills from these genetic tests.

@theotherstark: I've got an appt and u/S on 7/19!
I feel so gross today. I had insomnia last night. My boobs hurt so much it's distracting all night and day. And the heat today has me feeling nauseous and wiped out! Chilling on the couch watching cartoons with LO while DH makes dinner. I'm 7w0d today.
pomelo / 5720 posts
@beachlilly: so glad your appt well well! We will be doing the NT scan along with the MaterniTi 21 test next week.
@Littlebit7: really?! Wow! I'll give them a call tomorrow. Thanks!
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@beachlilly: yay for a good appointment!! I think people generally do both, but I'm not sure? Maybe ask your dr? We aren't doing the NIP testing since our insurance doesn't cover it, though.
grapefruit / 4361 posts
@beachlilly: if you do the NIPT, my Dr and I don't see the point of the NT other than seeing a heartbeat and measuring growth. The NIPT gives you definitve, earlier results on genetic issues, the NT scan is just a "risk assessment" - it doesn't say anything definitive.

My OB has an agreement with the test company that everyone's end bill will be $100 or less. This is for Verifi through Progenity. I'm a little nervous though, I was googling and found some stories for false positives of disorders.
kiwi / 549 posts
@DesertDreams88: There are false positives with NIPT. If you get a positive, you'd likely do CVS or amnio. I'm considering going straight to CVS because of that but not sure. The false positive rate isn't that high but would obviously be stressful.

Hi ladies,
Scan went well - due date revised to the 5th
March (but might hang around here as my daughter was a few weeks early). Little bean had a heartbeat, although we didn't find out how fast? Turns out my endometriosis is back with full vengeance, and have a large blood filled cyst on my right ovary. Unsure if this is causing the spotting, but explains my recent painful periods and severe lower back ache. X

@Patty86: so glad your scan went well! I had/have severe endometriosis.. so I know your battle all too well.
grapefruit / 4361 posts
@JJ2626: good point. For me personally, I wouldn't want the miscarriage risk of an amnio or CVS unless I had positive NIPT results to investigate. I know it's low, but my head likes to blow up small numbers. I also like the idea of finding out the gender early
pear / 1553 posts
@DesertDreams88: I feel the same way especially considering the chances of me conceiving twins was about 1% and that happened! These things do happen!
pear / 1521 posts
@DesertDreams88: @JJ2626: we had a false positive for Turner syndrome with our first LO. From the genetic test (I don't remember what company). We went to our appointment for the amnio but didn't go through with it after discussing with the MFM. Our anatomy scan (weeks later) showed a perfectly healthy baby and she was born totally healthy. Not trying to scare anyone, but the important thing about these tests are that all the percentages for accuracy are based on women who are advanced maternal age. If you are outside of that cohort than your accuracy is not necessarily going to be the same.
Anyway for that reason we won't be doing the genetic blood test this time. I feel like if we had done the quad screen last time everything would have showed up normal and we wouldn't have worried for no reason so I think that's what we'll do.

Wow, this has been a great week for work-related news that is going to positively impact my pregnancy and parenting experience.
Yesterday our CEO announced that they would be overhauling employee benefits, including purchasing short and long term disability insurance and trying to get a better deal on health insurance. And they are revising the entire policy manual and looking at our maternity/paternity leave policy, which is basically nonexistent. I've only had one co-worker take maternity leave in the 4 years I've worked there, and she had to scrounge together vacation, sick time and then I think also take some unpaid leave.
Then today I found out I got the promotion I had applied for! Not only is it more money but it's a more predictable schedule, and it would allow me to work from home should my twin pregnancy require bed rest toward the end.
These developments together have taken a huge weight off my shoulders. And I feel so grateful for all the positive turns my life has taken lately! I'm advancing both my career and family goals and it feels so, so good. Just had to share the good news with my beehive!

@JJ2626: we had a false positive with DS(2 soft markers for Down syndrome). We had the genetic testing and found out everything was fine. It definitely scared us though.
@dominobee: what wonderful news! So happy for you!

Latest adventures in morning sickness update!
Today I am gagging simply from being hungry. No smells or sights are setting me off. Just hungry. It's cute. I'm on the early shift today so I ate breakfast at like 5am. At 7:45, I already have had a bagel with cream cheese and a piece of string cheese and I'm still starving. Now on to an apple and saltines.
Will 9:00 be too early to eat lunch?
Also! My mom called last night to congratulate on my new job. First time we have actually talked on the phone since confirming the twins two weeks ago (we normally text). It took every ounce of self-control I had not to tell her! She's like "what else is up?" I'm like "Ohhhh nothing, same old same old!" Luckily I'll be home next weekend to tell my whole family. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

@dominobee: that's so exciting! Can't wait to hear how your family reacts.
We are headed to VT for the weekend as a last min trip. Excited to get away and let the kids play and swim in a pool! I hope everyone has a nice weekend planned!

Count me in the list of people having a good day but worrying about symptoms suddenly disappearing. 8w or 8w3d today. I took my progesterone dose about 4 hours late yesterday and my metformin 4 hours late the day before and it makes me nervous.

@DesertDreams88: I completely forgot to take mine the other day and the babies didn't fall out! I think you're fine.
