Is anyone else STARVING? It seems like I am famished every couple of hours or so lately. The nausea really kicks in if I get too hungry, so I feel like I'm constantly eating.

@jodyblair: I've been getting full really quickly and I can't eat much at a sitting. But then it's like I switch from full to starving IMMEDIATELY, so I'm always planning ahead for my next meal.

@jodyblair: today I've been really hungry! Yesterday, not so much. I'm currently snacking on pretzels, and apple, and 1 starburst. Washing it down with decaf coffee.

I haven't had too much nausea though I am very hungry and very specific about what sounds good/bad to eat. And MOOD SWINGS! I don't usually have much PMS so this is INSANE! Next appointment and US not till 7/31 because I'm a slacker and didn't call soon enough. Hoping they'll be able to find an appoint to squeeze me in sooner!

@jodyblair: I am just constantly eating to keep the nausea at bay. Haha.

@jodyblair: yes. I'm afraid I'll gain 20 lbs in the first trimester

@theotherstark: what worked for your nausea?

  8. bushelandapeck

    pomelo / 5720 posts

@CatchAFallingStar: totally! I'm so glad I only have a few weeks left before I have to worry about the weight gain. I've somehow managed to lose 3lbs, probably due to all the nausea early on.

I eat about 4 meals a day now, 3-4 hours apart, in order to keep the nausea at bay but I have no appetite
I got weighed at my 7 week appt and I was like, wellll I've already gained that first 5 lbs! So maybe my original weight was a bit higher than I though, hopefully? haha. Last time I gained 40 lbs and my belly was a torpedo and I was hungry all the time.

Constantly snacking here too! My midwife suggested lots of protein snacks including cheese and yogurt but I'm dairy-free so I feel like all I ate today was peanuts! I'm having the worst cramps and stomach pains too. It feels like my stomach is stretching. I couldn't fall asleep last night and I'm sooo tired now but I have to make family dinner.

    Hello ladies,

I'm experiencing some bright red bleeding today. I don't quite know what to think or do - I have my first scan in 2 days, I doubt I can get anything quicker. It's not overly heavy and I'm not in any pain. Im 7 weeks along. Has anyone else experienced bleeding? Trying to stay calm and positive

@jodyblair: @dominobee: same here, feeling starved all the time but then I can't eat much. So I had about 1/3 of my dinner about an hour ago and prob will eat more of it shortly.

It's like an almost painful feeling of hunger, way more uncomfortable then just normal hunger.

Also I ate one of my kid's applesauce pouches on the drive way home today bc I could feel myself getting nauseous.

@Patty86: I had some spotting at 7 weeks 4 days. It was pink, kind of like how it is at the end of my period. I went to the ER, and I ended up having a small 2cm subchorionic hematoma, basically a blood clot in between the chorion and my uterus (that is what they told me). My midwife said it can happen when the placenta is trying to form. I only spotted for 2 days, and I haven't had anymore bleeding since. I'm 8 weeks 4 days today. I had an ultrasound on Thursday at 8 weeks and the baby still had a heartbeat. The midwife didn't seem concerned about the hematoma. I would say try to call tomorrow morning to get in earlier for your scan and to let them know that you are bleeding.

Uggghhh I have to go pick DH up at the airport at midnight. I'm going to be wrecked at work tomorrow! And Tuesdays are usually my busiest days. Going to try to get an hour or two "nap" in before I have to leave.

I really should not complain about it though. He is coming home from seeing his dying father in CA. He's dealing with much bigger issues than I am.

@Tionn3: thank you, that makes me feel a bit better. It's so hard to concentrate at work when your mind is just running through worse case scenarios.

Crossing everything in hope that it's all okay!

@Patty86: it's always so scary I would definitely call tomorrow and tell them what you are experiencing. They most likely will just have you wait until your appointment, since there isn't much you could do at this stage anyway, but you never know, and it's good for them to have the info. I hope it is nothing!!

@CatchAFallingStar: ha. Nothing. It eventually got a little better, but I did throw up almost every day of my pregnancy with my son. Hoping it doesn't continue the whole time this time

Ok well I think I'm officially joining the "hungry all the time" club. This morning I ate two mini bagels with cream cheese between 9 and 10am but was still immediately starving. I managed to wait until 11am to eat lunch which was a huuuuge serving of leftover pad thai. Just finishing that now and I'm still hungry. It's only 12pm and all I have left at my desk is an apple. I hope I have time to run out and get more snacks today!

Ugh this is so gross and TMI, but I've been having yellow vaginal discharge, and I'm super worried about it. I know that an increase in white discharge is normal but all the books say that yellow discharge can mean an infection. I don't have any itching or odor, and I'm wondering if it is old blood maybe from the hematoma. I had my appointment last thursday and I kind of mentioned it to the midwife but she didn't say anything and she even did a pap smear and didn't say anything then. I'm debating calling to get an appointment, because I know infections can be bad during pregnancy especially BV. If I did have an infection do you think it would show up on the pap smear?

Coffee has finally started to sound good again. Are you ladies drinking a cup a day or totally avoiding it? I've read studies saying 200mg is fine and others saying that no amount is safe.

@CatchAFallingStar: I've mostly been drinking decaf, but will have regular coffee or another drink with caffeine in it 1-2 times a week. But I've been eating lunch meat like it's going out of style. My first two pregnancies I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole even though Jimmy John's was one of my biggest cravings (it was my first post baby meal both times! With my older son, I didn't even make it to the recovery room before I inhaled my sandwich.). After reading about random outbreaks of listeria in things like ice cream and frozen veggies, I decided I'm going to eat the damn lunch meat and enjoy it!

Ate breakfast at 7 today and had to stop home during errands WITH a sleeping LO in the car, to grab some food by 11am and head back out! I was SO hungry and thus yucky-feeling.

Had our ultrasound today. One little baby in there, measuring 8 weeks with heart rate of 163bpm.

OB has decided to send me to a MFM doc (high risk OB) once I get to 20 weeks due to a bunch of factors (hyperemesis, kidney stones, age, and the fact that a had really low amniotic fluid with last pregnancy and had to be induced at 35 weeks). Lots of appointments ahead!

I'm calling the MaterniT21 people today to see if the test is covered by my insurance. Fingers crossed!!!

  28. bushelandapeck

    pomelo / 5720 posts

@CatchAFallingStar: still drinking one cup a day. I also drink decaf if I want more coffee.

@magnoliamama42: love the picture! So happy you had a good scan!

Had my 10w appt today and everything seems to be going fine! We heard the HB on the Doppler at 150bpm. Weight is the same and all other stuff was fine too. I did some nlookdwork but the materniti 21 test won't be until next Friday and will take about 2 weeks to get back. I scheduled my 14w appt for 8/8 and my anatomy scan for 9/5. Feels real now but I can't wait to see them little one on the u/s next week.

@CatchAFallingStar: I'd been drinking coffee but it's not sounding good right now. So ice tea it is! Not worried about it this pregnancy, and same as @jodyblair: have had some deli meats too with same reasoning that the listeria outbreaks you hear about are always something else random.

@Tionn3: I'm guessing it's old blood but yea I'd prob call to check out anyway.

@DesertDreams88: I'm surprised you made it from 7 to 11!

@CatchAFallingStar: I'm drinking some, but not every day. Today I'm having iced green tea. Yesterday I made coffee the day before but hardly drank any, then had soda with caffeine in the afternoon (which, this may or may not be related, but driving home from work I seriously thought I was going to have to pull over to throw up because I was so nauseous.). I really needed something yesterday since I picked my husband up at the airport at 2am that morning and I had a super busy day with lots of deadlines. The day before I had a cup of half-caf half-decaf.

@magnoliamama42: Congrats! Sorry about the high-risk stuff, I hope you have a smooth 9 months.

@patty86: Any update? I hope everything is okay.

Ok, so I've been peeing 10,000 times a day for the past few weeks, as we all have. But now it seems like I have to go to the bathroom really bad, and then when I go there's hardly anything in there. It's not like a painful UTI type situation, there's just a disconnect of how much I have to pee versus how much actually comes out. I guess this is related to my uterus growing? It's weird!

In other news, I had a terrible night last night and I'm not feeling so hot today either. Last night I seriously thought I would not make it home without pulling over to throw up. I did make it home and immediately put on my pajamas and got in bed - at like 6:30. Around 8, DH woke me up to tell me dinner was ready. Mac & cheese with peas, haha. I ate a TON and barely felt satiated then went back to bed.

Anyone else have a hard time enjoying a day of feeling good? My nausea is almost gone today which is amazing. But then I start to wonder why and I worry. Am I a psycho?

  34. magnoliamama42

    cherry / 174 posts

@CatchAFallingStar: I just had to force myself to not Google "nausea suddenly gone at 8 weeks". LOL! I have been sick as a dog, puking 3-4 times a day, and now I'm all worried about having a good day. I know it's gonna come back with a vengeance as soon as I get used to feeling good.

@bushelandapeck: Did insurance cover your MaterniT21 test? Ours is covered, but I haven't met our deductible so it'll have to come out of pocket. So bummed, but I think I'm still gonna do it.

@dominobee: If you're still having trouble going today, I would let your OB know. UTIs are so super common at this stage, they feel different than they would if you aren't pregnant, and they can make nausea so much worse (plus give you body aches, etc.)

  35. dominobee

    pear / 1553 posts

@CatchAFallingStar: Yeah I definitely do that too. But then I get hit with a crap day and weirdly feel better, emotionally, but much worse physically. I'm so anxious for another u/s to see our babes. Wonder if they will at least do a doppler for the heartbeats at my midwife appointment next week? I'd like *some* kind of confirmation that I'm still pregnant, and still pregnant with two, since vanishing twin can often have no symptoms whatsoever. I wanted to be able to tell my parents about the twins next weekend but I'm apprehensive without another confirmation scan.

@CatchAFallingStar: I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow and my morning sickness basically disappeared on Monday. I'm definitely freaking out a little bit. My boobs were also more sore on Saturday and now they are less sore, like almost not sore. I think symptoms can start to decline around the 8-10 week mark for some women. A couple things that aren't gone are the horrible heartburn when I eat tomato sauce, and the constant need to pee. I think the first trimester nerves are normal.

I felt not that bad yesterday and got a little nervous. Then this morning I almost threw up on the subway to the extent that someone offered me their seat because I looked so bad. So...I think it comes and goes!

  38. Tionn3

I'm definitely having a hard time staying calm before my 12 week appointment. I just don't know how I'm going to make it through the next 3 weeks. I literally almost cried in the car on the way to work because I was so anxious that I've been feeling better over the last week. I had to talk myself down from buying a home doppler because I just know if I can't find the heart beat I'll freak out. I'm so scared of having a miscarriage, and I feel like I'm traumatized because it took us 13 cycles to get pregnant. The spotting from the hematoma at 7 weeks 4 days last Monday does not help me feel better either. My 8 week appointment last Thursday provided some reassurance because we got to see the heart beat and she told me I was measuring 8 weeks which was on track...but then when I looked at the two pictures she gave me one said I was 8 weeks 0 days and the other picture which was a close up said I was 7 weeks 4 days, but the ER ultrasound from Monday said I was 7 weeks 5 days, so now I'm all freaked out about that, how could I be measuring less between Monday and Thursday!? End vent.

@Tionn3: Obviously just a lurker here but I felt the same way around 10 weeks with my daughter. I was close to having panic attacks so I called my OB for an ultrasound and they got me in that day.
If you are feeling that bad, I would absolutely encourage you to go in for an additional scan.

  40. bushelandapeck

    pomelo / 5720 posts

@magnoliamama42: it;s not going to cover much of it but that's because we haven't met our out of pocket deductible for the year yet. I got the estimate this morning and it's going to be $800-850.

@dominobee: I would ask them to try and see if htey can find them, knowing tht it might still be too early to hear anything. With my son we were able to hear the HB right around 9w but they said we shouldn't worry if we didn't. The nurse yesterday actually said the same thing to me and I was 10w4d. I told her I knew it was there since I had already checked myself. If we hadn't been able to find it I would've asked for an ultrasound.

@Tionn3: I'm sorry you're experiencing so much anxiety about waiting. It's so hard to go so long in between and not know for sure that everything is okay. I ended up borrowing a doppler from another mom during my last pregnancy and then buying one this time around. For me, that has helped ease my anxiety some but it might not be the best option for everyone.
