@dominobee: with my first, I have a couple glasses of wine total but in my 3rd trimester

@dominobee: I think beer would make me puke right now! Haha

    @CatchAFallingStar: I actually don't know-they didn't give me a number, just said it looked good. I was measuring 6w4d. I wouldn't worry though!! If doc isn't worried, then I don't worry. Or I try.

Actually just got back from my follow up US and all looked good. Baby grew exactly 2 weeks in the 2 weeks since my last one and is measuring 8w4d. She said they still keep my due date based on LMP for now though. Heart rate was over 150. I am starting to believe this is real!

@dominobee: I didn't drink with my first but with my second I had a half glass of wine a couple times per week starting around 15/16w probably. The first trimester seems to be the most important for the initial growth of the baby so I haven't wanted to risk anything happening (despite wishing I could still drink wine!) I don't think a few sips of beer would worry me but I wouldn't be able to have a whole drink.

I had an appt with my new midwife today! She confirmed pregnancy and did a pelvic exam but no u/S. I'll go back on 7/19 for that. After she heard my symptoms and did the exam, she was super positive and made me feel relieved that things are on the right track. I can't wait to go back on the 19th!

@dominobee I hope you went out to meet your friends, drink or no drink! I think a few sips to deflect would be fine but social interaction will make you feel so much better.

Today I went to Lunch with some coworkers who all ordered cocktails first and it was so weird! We don't normally do that--it's not mad men--so even more awkward that I only ordered water. I don't think people were suspicious, probably just thought I was a prude! Plus it made our lunch take forever and I just wanted foooooood!

@Ergggg: haha that is funny! I feel like not drinking at lunch is perfectly normal though! I probably wouldn't even not pregnant, I feel like it would make me sleepy later in the day!

I ended up going and having like half a beer. Luckily they had a big bottle for sharing so taking just a few ounces was perfectly natural. But it was so nice to catch up with friends, see their garden and just hang out in the backyard. They kept being like "come to the party!" And I was like "ohhh I'm just really tired," but really I just didn't want to be around drunk people. I also ran into another friend on the way and she was like "see you at the party?" And I just had to be like... yeah, no. Haha oh well! They'll all know why in a few months.

We got to see our little bean at my first u/s yesterday! Measuring 7w3d, they said my due date may be pushed back a week or 10 days. I wasn't keeping great track of my periods so I'm not surprised since I was kind of guessing on the date of my last one I'll find out more when I meet with my OBGYN on 7/20. It feels so real now! Heart beat was 147bpm. I'm having terrible nausea still, all day, every day. Really getting tired of it...trying ginger ale, unisom before bed, preggie pops, nothing is working so far. Hopefully it will subside soon! DH and I are flying back to Nebraska to see family next week and we're going to tell our parents in person- can't wait to see their faces

Oh my goodness. Diclegis is a major life changer!! What a miracle. If you have terrible nausea like me, ask your doctor for it.

@CatchAFallingStar: oh, awesome! Glad it's working for you! I tried it during my first pregnancy and it did nothing for my nausea, unfortunately, so I haven't even tried it this time.

Anyone else not nauseous but just sorta gaggy? The nausea has pretty much gone away but my gag reflex is on a hair trigger. Set off this morning by picking up dog poop. I hadn't eaten anything yet so it was just bile, but I was heaving so forcefully I actually peed my pants a little!

  13. bushelandapeck

    pomelo / 5720 posts

@dominobee: ugh. That sounds awful! My gag reflect isn't terrible but I did throw up yesterday because I was so nauseaous. So gross.

@skate13: so glad your appointment went well!

  14. dominobee

    pear / 1553 posts

@bushelandapeck: I never know what's going to set it off! I'm sorry you're still feeling nauseous, for your sake I hope it goes away soon!

On the plus side I am cooking a real meal (just home fries and eggs for brunch) for the first time in weeks!

  15. petitenoisette

@dominobee: that was me with my first. The nausea didn't last too long but the gagging and throwing up randomly went on forever.

My MS has kicked in but mainly I just need to stay on top of eating. I need carbs + butter first thing. And I'm lucky to be on summer vaca for the first tri bc being outside helps me soooo much it is literally amazing. Something about the fresh air.

I am nervous bc tomorrow I'm watching my sister's 3 girls and mine which I also did Friday. Friday I wasn't feeling sick yet so hopefully it's not a disaster!

Last night my LO woke up bc some wonderful neighbors were shooting off fireworks at almost 11pm and didn't go back to sleep until 1 am. So that was fun but thankfully she slept til eight and then I was able to go back to sleep for two more hours. I know as well from last time that another key to keeping my nausea under control is getting enough sleep which of course is more difficult with a 2 year old.

Hope everyone has had a great weekend!

This weekend brought full-on nausea and tiredness! I had to work outside in the sun for 2 hours yesterday and I feel like it wiped me out for good. I've been tethered to bed or the couch ever since. My BIL was here last night and I was trying so hard to stay awake and be a good host but I fell asleep at 9:30!

Also how much b6 am I supposed to take for nausea? I forgot to write down what the midwife said.

  17. dominobee

    pear / 1553 posts

@Ergggg: I feel you! I worked outside for a couple hours today and then crashed for like two hours. I still have some weeding to do but I kind of just want to make cupcakes instead, lol.

@dominobee: yuuum, homefries sound so good! Haha. I'm jealous; my nausea has been crazy the last couple of days. And my husband is gone this week, so I'm just trying to survive with my toddler. It's been awful with constant nausea. Oh well.

@petitenoisette: ugh, the night wake ups with nausea are the worst!! Hope you survive with all those kiddos tomorrow

@Ergggg: aw, man. Definitely take the sleep when you can!

@Ergggg: most websites online says B6 25 mg with each meal (or morning, afternoon, evening), but it takes a bit to kick in.

So the nausea combined with being tired is making me kind of anti social. I'm canceling plans but can't explain why. How do you guys deal with that? I feel like a jerk but am just not ready to tell a ton of people. Would love to hear if others are dealing with this too!

Hi ladies! How did you get the Feb 2018 thread started? I tried asking the help board but haven't heard back and it's been a few days.

  24. dominobee

Ok, I know I shouldn't complain because some of you are feeling way worse than me, but... I'm really looking forward to the day when I don't wake up feeling crappy. Mondays are the worst, just getting myself going for the workweek feels like such a struggle. The only perk to Mondays is that they're the start of a new gestational week for me. And today, at 8 weeks, I got to see the size of my babies' hands and feet on Ovia! (The outline is supposed to be the size of their hands/feet at birth but I think it's a little bigger posted here than it shows up on the app on my phone.)

@DesertDreams88: hmm interesting. We're already at least 2 weeks into March due dates and nothing so far. I guess I'll wait another week or so and see.

    pomelo / 5720 posts

@SweetiePie: I asked HB moderators. I think it took a day or so for them to start it. I'm guessing because it was the weekend they may not have seen your request.

@dominobee: so cute! I love seeing those little comparisons

As for me....I was able to find the babys heartbeat with the doppler 2x this weekend . What a sweet sound! I'm looking forward to my OB appt tomorrow morning and then the 12w ultrasound in less than 2 weeks! Trying to nail down a way to tell our families at my son's birthday party in Aug, and wondering if that's waiting too long (I'll be 15w)? I would rather tell people in person but I don't want my mom to be upset that I didn't tell her sooner.

  28. dominobee

    pear / 1553 posts

    @bushelandapeck: How fun!

I think it's fine to wait. Or if you think your mom will be hurt, could you tell her in person sooner? Does she live nearby? I'm sure she would love to be a part of your little secret for a few weeks.

I can't wait to tell my family in a couple of weeks! First grandchildren - everyone's going to freak when I tell them it's twins! Really glad that I have my next u/s* a few days before I'm planning to tell them. It will be nice just to confirm that both are still there and growing.

*Though actually, I need to confirm that the midwife I'm seeing will be doing an u/s when I see her. I'll be 9w2d so it seems like she would, right?

  29. bushelandapeck

    pomelo / 5720 posts

@dominobee: I actually saw her this weekend but it was for my grandmothers burial (her mother) so it didn't feel like the right time to tell her. I don't think I will see her in person before my son's birthday party on 8/12. Probably makes sense just to wait. I'm just hoping I'll be able to hide it at work for that long because I wouldn't feel right telling folks here without telling her first!

As for your first u/s....my OB's office doesn't do them until between 12-14 weeks so I think it depends on your office. I was able to hear the HB with my son right around 9 ish weeks so we felt comfortable telling our families that time around. It also happened to coincide with Christmas so it was a fun time to tell people I would check with your midwife about that. In my experience midwives can be less likely to recommend additional u/s if they aren't indicated but that is probably different with twins!

    pear / 1553 posts

@bushelandapeck: Agh. I'd really like one. I should confirm that *they* wanted the appointment to be around this time - I didn't push for an early appointment or anything. Wouldn't they want to confirm that I'm still pregnant and everything is going okay? And that there's still two in there?

  31. dominobee

    pear / 1553 posts

Okay yeah... I just called and they won't be doing an ultrasound. I'd really prefer if they did before I go home because I want to confirm that there are still two in there before I tell my family. The woman on the phone said I can ask for one and they'll write me a scrip and then I can get it wherever is convenient for me, so maybe I'll be able to get one next Thursday or Friday? My appointment is on Wednesday and we're going home Friday night.

@dominobee: I'm surprised they won't be doing an ultrasound a your appointment. I hope you're able to get one!

I think my morning sickness is pretty much gone. I haven't woken up feeling gross since Friday. Ovia said that at 8 weeks things start to level off and so I could expect to start feeling better soon. I guess since my nausea was so mild it disappeared faster? I hope everything is ok. I'm 8 weeks and 4 days today.

  34. dominobee

    pear / 1553 posts

@Tionn3: I think it's weird too. Like, don't they want to confirm I'm still pregnant and the babies are still growing, since there are no other outward indicators at this point?

I'm mostly feeling better too, just gaggy. I'm not really nauseous but anything will set me off. I was trying to tell a co-worker about throwing up this morning and I couldn't even get through the story, because just remembering what set me off (dog's slobbery toy) was too much. Still super duper exhausted and can't really exert myself for very long. I wanted to finish some weeding I had been putting off and had to do it in two chunks yesterday with a nap and a meal in between. How about you?

  35. bushelandapeck

    pomelo / 5720 posts

@dominobee: yeah. My office just does the first appointment around that time and you can *usually* hear the HB then. Once you hear it your chances of MC decrease significantly. They wait for the 12-14 week time frame since that's when they do the NT scan and additional blood work if you're doing that. I hope you're able to get one too!

@Tionn3: I'm sure it's fine. Mine waxes and wanes and has done that each pregnancy I've had. It was definitely the worst right around 7w this time and has slowly gotten better, with some days still being terrible. When is your first appointment?

  36. dominobee

    pear / 1553 posts

@bushelandapeck: I might keep the twins part under wraps then, until we can confirm when I'm further along. I don't really want to tell everyone about seeing an RE or doing IUI. My mom, being a nurse, will surely ask lots of questions about how we got an early ultrasound and how we know it's twins already.

  37. bushelandapeck

    pomelo / 5720 posts

@dominobee: that makes sense. I'm still hoping they let you get one so you can see how they are growing

@bushelandapeck: So fun you were able to find the heartbeat! It's so reassuring to be able to check on the baby whenever you need some reassurance.

  39. Tionn3

    kiwi / 680 posts

@dominobee: That is how my nausea started to disappear too. First the all day nausea went away and it was just kine of like sporadic. Then that nausea went away but I was still gaggy in the morning, like when I brushed my teeth..or being anywhere near chicken, which is evil right now. Now I feel pretty good in the morning. No nausea, still get gaggy if I brush a little too deep. The heart burn is definitely sticking around though, depending on what I eat. Last night I started feeling sick because of the heart burn. I think the placenta starts to kick in around 8 weeks and that is why people start to experience a reduction in symptoms.

  40. Tionn3

    kiwi / 680 posts

@bushelandapeck: Min was definitely pretty bad around 7 weeks too. That was when I first threw up...and so far it is the only time I threw up. I already had my first OB appointment last Thursday, I was 8 weeks on the dot, and I was still feeling some nausea. The midwife said everything looked fine in there and the heart beat was 161 bpm, and they told me to come back at 12 weeks. 4 weeks is soooooooo long.
