Hey Nov 2012 Mamas!

@highwire: We had our second (of 4) childbirth class last night. We also have a baby care class and infant CPR (my mom is going with is too) later this month. Then we are done. I wanted to save the last month before baby for last minute things, resting, etc. In august we went on a hospital tour and took the breastfeeding class.

@highwire: We started ours last Saturday, it's a 6 week series called "Courage to Birth". I wanted something more than the hospital class and so far, so good. I think it will really be helpful for DH and also for calming the fear of the unknown!

Infant CPR and Breastfeeding we are also signed up for...

@ChelseaRose: Yeah, all of our classes are in September and October. I don't have any scheduled for November.

@kml636: Awesome! Where is the class being offered if it isn't at the hospital?

@kml636: Thanks! I can't wait to have some alone time with DH...I hope we BD a TON.

@kml636: Thanks! The trip just snuck up on me. I haven't really even had time to count down the days or get excited in advance lol.

That's great that a yoga studio is offering that. I absolutely love the studio that I take my prenatal yoga classes at. Are you doing yoga classes there as well?

  8. kml636

    pomegranate / 3225 posts

@highwire: I have been meaning to do prenatal yoga, but I haven't made it there yet! Maybe I'll start this week, you have inspired me!

@kml636: aw great! There are so many benefits to yoga. I'm a huge megafan or whatever the right word is lol.

@highwire: I love prenatal yoga too! I missed a few weeks due to being out of town, having my baby shower, etc., but I'm going back this Saturday!

Thought I'd boot this back up! Skimmed the last few pages.. our hospital *charges* for all classes I don't think we'll be taking any except CPR and breastfeeding - hopefully I don't regret it!

    How far along/EDD: 30w4d 11/23/12
    Total Weight Gain: 16 lbs
Stretch Marks: I think they're coming!! I guess I shouldn't be surprised since my stomach is ballooning but I was hoping I'd avoid them like my Mom & Sister. I have tiny broken blood vessels all around my belly button.
    Gender: Baby boy
    Names Picked: Yep!
Nursery Theme: BRIGHTS! Not a traditional nursery for sure.
Birth Plan: Hopefully natural but not making any false promises.
How long are you taking off: N/A will stay at home.
    Milestones: None lately.
Struggles: Starting to really feel tired more often, more back pain
What are you most fearful/concerned about: Breastfeeding struggles! Recovering after delivery.
What are you most excited about: Finally seeing this little creature that dances all the time! And finishing our nursery (crib comes on Monday!)

We went garage saleing (total bust) this past weekend and everyone kept saying "Normally I wouldn't ask when a woman's due.. but you're definitely pregnant!" LOL. I don't know if it's 3rd trimester zen but it doesn't bother me at all now when people say I'm huge (or small, I still get both, ha!)

We ordered so much stuff (no showers for us) the past week now I just patiently wait to open boxes when I get home!!

    Gender: Baby boy
Names Picked: Yep, but keeping it a surprise for mostly everyone
Nursery Theme: dwell studio owl bedding, light greens/blues
How long are you taking off: 3 months
    Milestones: None lately.
Struggles: back pain, heartburn, overall tiredness
What are you most fearful/concerned about: post partum recovery and not being able to BF
What are you most excited about: nursery is complete! all we need to is some minor detail things and get to baby laundry!

    How far along/EDD: 30+3, 11/25/12
Total Weight Gain: 9lbs when I checked late last week
Stretch Marks: Small ones on my boobs actually. But they are white not purple.
    Gender: Team Green!
Names Picked: Haven't narrowed it down too much yet. We won't be making the final decision until we meet the baby.
Nursery Theme: I'm not a theme person. We are doing most things in shades of green with dark wood furniture
How long are you taking off: 15 weeks
Milestones: None that I can think of
Struggles: Too many to list. I feel like poo most of the time.
What are you most fearful/concerned about: Keeping this baby in until it's fully cooked.
What are you most excited about: I'm going to be a mama in two months! I can't believe it!!

Is anyone else starting to feel like they are back in the first trimester? This morning I woke up to the return of morning sickness and my face breaking out. Neither of which have been a problem for me for weeks. I'm also noticing that my bloating/gassiness is getting worse. Not to mention all the normal third trimester issues like insomnia and never ending back and hip pain! These next ten weeks can't go by fast enough!!!

  15. DillonLion

    GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts

    How far along/EDD: 30 weeks, 5 days, 11/23/12

Total Weight Gain: 26 lbs (zero pounds gained in first trimester, eight pounds gained in 2nd trimester, EIGHTEEEN gained in third trimester so far. WTF?!

Stretch Marks: Oh yes. All on the underside of my bump. They are pretty scary looking right now, but I'm hoping they will fade to white like all of my other ones.

    Gender: Sweet baby girl

Names Picked: Pretty much. And I have resigned myself to the fact that pretty much everyone else on the planet had the same idea and wanted to name their daughter Charlotte also. Oh well. I'm a Rachel, and I knew tons of Rachels growing up, and it was okay.

Nursery Theme: Glam safari. My aunt is coming over this weekend and we are going to start hanging art and whatnot on walls

Birth Plan: Labor at home for as long as possible. Epidural when I get to the hospital. Rest, relax, birth a healthy baby. Ha, we'll see how it goes! I've been having a bit of anxiety about the possibility of a c-section. I need to do a little more reading about how that whole process goes so I don't feel so terrified and unsure about things if we have to go in that direction for some reason.

How long are you taking off: leaving work at 39 weeks, coming back 12 weeks after my due date. So 13 weeks total more or less.

Milestones: Hitting the "30s". Does that count? Gaining the amount of weight I was supposed to gain for the entire pregnancy by 30 weeks. Ha.

    Struggles: Exhausted.

What are you most fearful/concerned about: Breastfeeding. It has been kind of a far off idea but now it is right around the corner. I'm having trouble coming around to the idea of, like, putting my boob in an infant's mouth. But I guess I will get over it quickly.

What are you most excited about: Hanging with the baby, getting to know each other, starting her off on a hopefully great life

    How far along/EDD: 31 weeks and 5 days? / Nov. 20

Total Weight Gain: 25 lbs. Oh boy. I think I'm hiding the scale.

Stretch Marks: I can't believe it, but no, none yet. I'm waiting, though.

Gender: No clue, but I keep mentally thinking about my "daughter"

Names Picked: I think so -- but DH is still wavering on the boy's name. Both are easy to pronounce and familiar, but neither is in the top 200, and I haven't had either as a student.

    Nursery Theme: Nature inspired

Birth Plan: Stay home as long as possible. Natural labor at hospital with a doula. Focus on PAIN acronym which is totally helping me deal with anxiety about labor (P = purposeful pain-the pain is part of achieving a bigger goal, A = Anticipated-you know it's coming and it's not a surprise, I = Intermittent-you get breaks from the pain, N = Normal-yeah, it hurts, but it doesn't mean that something's "wrong")

How long are you taking off: 12 weeks, more if I get pulled before going into labor

Milestones: Loosing sight of my feet.

Struggles: The 3 point turn required to turn over in bed.

What are you most fearful/concerned about: Getting everything done in time.

What are you most excited about: Meeting this THING that's living in my stomach.

  17. kml636

@Mrs. Tricycle: I like the PAIN acronym! I'm preparing for natural birth but trying to be flexible, too.

@kml636: @Mrs. Tricycle: ditto! LOVE that acronym. same as you KML- i'm prepping for natural, but not against epidural as i expect things may not be as i anticipate~

@mamamoose YES! I was just telling my Mom how I was starting to waddle and feel useless and she (unhelpfully) said "You still have 10 weeks to go, buck up!" haha. definitely missing the 2nd trimester.

I got trigger happy on Ebay and bought a pair of red old navy maternity skinnies... I definitely did not need them! But I got them today and love them Working on nursery art tonight!

    How far along/EDD: 30 weeks, 2 days

    Total Weight Gain: 17 lbs

Stretch Marks: Not yet, but my skin feels like it's stretching so much that I'm sure I will get them.

    Gender: Girl!

Names Picked: Yep---had it picked since very early on.

Nursery Theme: No real "theme" but we're doing pink, mint, and white for colors and lots of polka dots and gingham.

Birth Plan: Vagina? Packed! (Totally stole that from Pregnant Chicken)

How long are you taking off: Definitely 12 weeks, I'm going on "vacation" as of November 22 (I'm due the 26) so depending on when she decides to make her appearance, i might be off around 13ish weeks.

Milestones: My stomach is now substantially larger than my chest--ha!

Struggles: Bending over. Getting up out of a chair/the couch/etc.

What are you most fearful/concerned about: Losing sleep early on.

What are you most excited about: Meeting baby girl! We've known about her for so long, we're excited for her to come out and play!

    How far along/EDD: 33w5d / Nov. 1

    Total Weight Gain: 20 lbs

    Stretch Marks: none yet.

    Gender: little lady.

Names Picked: not yet. we have a short list.

Nursery Theme: yellow, pinks with hints of other colors. animals.

    Birth Plan: haven't decided yet.

How long are you taking off: at least 12 weeks, but possibly more. still working it out with my job.

Milestones: hmm. crib was delivered yesterday!

Struggles: Feeling fatigued lately. i didn't get that during the first trimester, so this is new to me. pregnancy brain is in full force now, i can't remember anything. i'm starting to lose my appetite again...not like morning sickness, but definitely struggling to find anything appealing to eat. toasted bagels with cream cheese are my go-to food, which have zero nutrition value.

What are you most fearful/concerned about: everything. i'm a worrier. it helps set my expectations - i have so many concerns about things turning out in the worst case scenario, that when they turn out merely bad or average, i'm happy.

What are you most excited about: finally meeting and holding my baby girl. i took a hospital tour today and saw the little babies in the nursery and almost started crying because it feels so close and so real. can't wait!

How far along/EDD: 33 weeks and 1 day; due Nov 9
    Total Weight Gain: 21 pounds
Stretch Marks: none on my belly
    Gender: Boy
Names Picked: Middle names are picked and we have shortlisted the first name to 3
Nursery Theme: red, black and white
Birth Plan: Labour as much in the home, go to the hospital, then everything is pretty much up in the air. Luckily my healthcare provider is a collaborative practice that includes a doula to help with the early part of labour at home.
How long are you taking off: one year
Milestones: baby is confirmed to be head down!
Struggles: Lots of braxton hicks contractions and finding the right spot at night in bed.
What are you most fearful/concerned about: The first few days at home.
What are you most excited about: seeing how my DH will be with this little guy.

I haven't done this in a long time!

    How far along/EDD: 33weeks, 4 days; due November 7th

Total Weight Gain: My scale says 7 pounds, but my doctor said it is 10. Either way not too bad. Hoping to gain only 15 by delivery.

Stretch Marks: Only one new one on my belly.

    Sex: Boy

Names Picked: We have a first and middle name picked, but are waiting to announce it until he's here. We think it is an awesome name.

Nursery Theme: No theme and not really decorated yet, although we have the major pieces of furniture in the room.

Birth Plan: Hospital delivery. I'm hoping for a natural childbirth and I'm doing the hypnobabies home study course right now.

How long are you taking off: 4 months.

Milestones: I think baby is really cramped in there. His movements feel very different now than they did a few weeks ago. He was head down at our ultrasound at 32 weeks.

Struggles: Sleep! I've had insomnia off and on this whole pregnancy. I occasionally wake up to pee, but that's not always what wakes me up or keep me awake.

What are you most fearful/concerned about: Physical recovery after birth, life with a newborn, getting even less sleep than I do now.

What are you most excited about: I'm in a wedding this evening for two really good friends. My husband is also in the wedding party, so it should be fun (but tiring) and we will get to be in some professional pictures together.

Anyone else doing/done maternity photos?? I didn't think I was going to, and then I realized that we didn't really have any good photos of us together and don't have any family nearby or friends that would be good to take some of us. So we just did ours today!

I can't wait to see them - but I wish I'd thought of some more creative poses. I love photos, love other people's photos, but feel awkward actually having them taken LOL.

I'm 31 weeks, right around when my sister gave birth to my twin nieces.. I have no reason to think I'd deliver prematurely but it's freaking me out that it feels "possible" and I'm trying to get everything done ASAP so I can relax!!

@scg00387: taking my maternity photos on 10/14. I'm using the same photographer as our wedding and she is great about giving direction for posing. Make sure to ask for help if you need pose ideas! That's why we hire the professionals

@highwire How fun! I was nervous that if I waited longer, my cuter maternity clothes wouldn't fit I wish that we were living still by our wedding photographer, he was great! The photographers today were good, and we told them to direct us - I just wish I'd put some more thought into stuff that was uniquely us - I should have suggested going on one of the playgrounds that was near by but was so focused on making sure my hair wasn't in my eyes.. the shoot was over before I thought to say anything!

    Can't wait to see yours!

thanks mamas! @highwire & @kml636... just past 32 weeks, and i'm feeling the same pressure. i think it hit me worse because i've been carrying so low this entire pregnancy... and his feet are def up in my rib cage... ugh.

    @mrsjyw you look amazing!

@kml636 yes especially on my right side, where he seems to spend more time. that whole ligament on the inside of my thigh is pulled tighter and it feels like my actual pubic bone is getting bruised! (tmi??) I'm going to try a heated rice pack for a while this afternoon, I'm nervous for how much worse it will get; I'm only at 31w!

    GOLD / squash / 13464 posts

@scg00387: Oh my God my pubic bone hurts so bad! I swear it feels like I'm being split in two!!!! Be careful about using the heating pack. I was told by my doctor that heat was OK for short periods on my back, but never to use it on my front so that I don't over heat the baby. It might be better to try ice.

@kml636: I get bad pressure too if I've been up and about too much! I find that lying down with my feet really elevated helps to relieve it at least a little bit! My baby is super low so I know the feeling is NOT enjoyable!

@mrsjyw: You look so great!! Baby Boy's legs must have grown in the past couple weeks since you don't look so low as the last time you posted!

@mamamoose yep, my OB said the same thing i have an icy pack that I alternate with. I'm the opposite of you though, I find that walking helps and it is 100% worse when I first get up and going in the morning. Maybe me walking moves him up and off whereas when I sleep he dives in? I don't know, but I'm sick of my husband quacking when I waddle

    @kml636 i hope it helps!
