Have any of my fellow December mamas made plans for the holiday season this year with your new babies? I'm torn between enjoying Christmas with just our newly expanded little family and trying to travel with a newborn to meet the extended family. What are you planning to do?

I'm going to answer because I'm a late Nov mama : ) My parents are coming to us. They are a plane ride away and I'm not comfortable traveling on a plane with a brand new baby before he/she gets vaccines. It's my brother's year to go to his in laws so my parents would have been alone so they just decided to come here. Yay!

for us, we're pretty lucky in that both of our families live in the same city as us. however, we'll probably still cut dh's extended family party short depending on how well our LO is doing. (feels weird to say LO! haha) my family's side is small so we'll still probably hang out with them like normal. if we lived far from our families (like > 2 hr trip) then i'd probably not go. i'd just let them come to us if they want to see us.

I'm a very early Jan mama, but am so excited that this year we don't have to travel. They're coming to us. And hopefully cooking and cleaning as I'll be 39 weeks.

My mom would love for us to try to make it down there (2 hrs away). I told her it all depends on when this one tries to come and how we are feeling. My plan right now is to play it by ear and make no promises.

@oliviaoblivia: Us, too! I wanted to do cartwheels when the doctor told us we cannot travel for Christmas this year! And if anybody gives us crap, we can just say "Doctor's orders!" I'm so excited.

I'm due December 23, so we don't have any plans. My sister's coming to visit and help mid December-early January..
so as long as baby2 doesn't arrive on Christmas, we'll probably just spend a quite day together at home. -
Our LO will be around 10 days old at Christmas, so I do believe we have the perfect excuse to stay home! I'm excited to not make the 6 hour drive to LA this year. We'll probably do it for Thanksgiving though.

Based on my 12/12/12 due date, LO will be anywhere from 1-2 weeks old at Christmas.
There is no way we will be traveling anywhere with a newborn.
My dad and SO's dad live in different countries, and my mom is in a different state so at this point, I think the plan is for them to fly in for the birth and stay through Christmas. -
Baby's due in the beginning of December--right between holidays! Normally this would be the year I go to Ohio for Thanksgiving, but DH and I will be staying home instead. We may end up hosting in our new house. *joy*
Christmas is always at home, but I will absolutely be using the baby as an excuse to skip out of the in laws' ten hour Present Opening Ceremony. Assuming baby doesn't arrive *too* close to Christmas, it should be the perfect time to introduce them to lots of family and friends.

Another late November momma here, but I'm not planning on a whole lot. Just getting together with immediate family, but otherwise just focusing on getting in the swing of parenthood. The holidays are definitely on the back burner this year :(.

I am due Christmas Eve (this is #3 though, so I think I will probably go a couple days early). We normally celebrate 5-6 Christmases between our divorced families and this year I am happy to say we will be staying put. There is 1 Christmas that will be in January that we will go to and maybe one exteneded family Christmas on DH's side that we might attempt depending on when LO comes.
We haven't really talked about it with our families but over the past couple of years we have been very open that we are happy to host holidays instead of dragging our kids all over the place. We are almost done finishing our basement so we will be more then happy to have visitors who want to come to us, but we are not traveling with a newborn.
