@oliviaoblivia: Ooh, we'll be at a wedding when I'm 30 weeks-ish. Maybe I can, like, photobomb some of the professional pictures and then photoshop myself out. Ha ha ha!

I stopped by goodwill to do some maternity clothes shopping yesterday. Apparently everyone in my area was pregnant 20 years ago and is 2x as large as me! Lots of bad idea jeans out there. We are so broke right now it's not even funny. My husband just started his job today, and I haven't been able to find employment since we both graduated grad/law school in May. Yeeps! I got turned down for a job basically for being pregnant (though no that's not what they said) and so I'm really discouraged on my prospects. So hopefully Goodwill comes up with some maternity pants soon! Luckily it's wayyyy too hot here to think about wearing anything other than dresses.
When did/will y'all start registering? I'm 18 weeks and it still feels early, but I'm bored and want to start.
Anyone in January on team green? We could find out Sept 4th, (we moved and were out of town, thus the late u/s date) but I'm not even that curious yet. I don't think I've thought of this baby as anything other than "baby." The idea that it has a sex makes it too real!

@jedeve: It sucks that the goodwill didn't have anything. I know other moms have had success on craigslist and ebay.
My registry is going strong, but is still private (I'm doing it on Amazon). I'll probably go public in the next few weeks. I'm still trying to coordinate shower locations/dates with my sisters (I live out of the country so it's tough.)
We aren't team green and won't find out until next Tuesday. I'm DYING to know. I find myself arbitrarily using pronouns for the baby. One day it's he the next it's she.
We hit a milestone this weekend. Baby was going nuts wiggling on Friday and DH was finally able to feel it kick! He was so excited.
Anybody have any scans lately? Milestones? Weird symptoms?

I wasn't going to register, but then my Mom highly recommended it, so I think I'll start soon. I figure it will be a lot of work so I'll take my time to get it done -- no one has to know about it yet though. I think it may be good for Christmas gifts too!
I took DH to a baby store yesterday to try and educate him a little on all the things we would need. It was a lot for him to take in! He was totally unable to get past the strollers and baby carriers!

Hubs and I started our registries this weekend. We went to Babies R Us and got one started there, then I also started an Amazon one (for things we can't find at BRU). I love that you can add stuff from anywhere on Amazon, so I have a few Etsy items and stuff from other random websites added. We still have plenty more to add, but we got the big stuff out of the way - strollers, car seat, pack and play, etc. Waiting to do the fun stuff (bedding, clothes, decor) until we find out the sex on the 20th. SO EXCITED!

@oliviaoblivia: Yup, I can relate. When, towards the end of our visit, I asked if he had any opinions on anything, he finally answered: "I'm sure whatever you decide will be fine." (and he always has opinions on everything!) Oh-oh -- I don't know if this a good thing or a bad!

Thanks for the kind words. We're doing well...just ready to get back to trying. I'm due for AF any day now! Good luck to all of you on the second half of your pregnancies. I'll come bug you all for advice when we have our little one

You can add a widget/button to your browser. Just go to your Amazon registry, and you'll either see a button on the side that says "Universal Registry" or you can go to the Registry FAQs and click the link that says "What is a universal registry?" It'll tell you how to add the button to your browser. It's kind of like the Pin It button for Pinterest, if you have that. Then when you find something you like on another website, you click that button and it'll add it for you. It's great!

I want to do Amazon too. I hate BRU just because of their ridiculous prices and the monopoly they seem to have, but how does the Amazon work for showers? I can't imagine everyone ordering far enough ahead of time to have it shipped to themselves. Anyone have experience with this?
I haven't started registering yet, but DH and I went to BRU to check out car seats and strollers. I think it sounds best to pick the stroller first and then make sure a car seat adapts. Has anyone made any decisions yet? My sister got the Chicco KeyFit and the City Mini. It'd be easy for my mom if we used the same base...but I really have no idea yet.

@Mrs Green Grass: I did Amazon as my only registry for my wedding and it worked out really well. The people that preferred to buy in a bricks and mortar store were able to and then could mark the item as purchased online. I got a lot of compliments on how easy it was.
For us, living abroad and registering at stores is really tricky. The Canadian BRU registry doesn't link to the US site so I'd have to go in and do a lot of maintenance. It's such a pain.
As for strollers, we're going with the Uppababy Vista and the Britax Boulevard convertible car seat. I rarely drive and can't see needing an infant seat when a convertible seat will last us longer.

@Mrs Green Grass: For most of that big stuff (strollers, car seats, etc), I narrowed our options down to 2 or 3 based on the Baby Bargains book and on Amazon reviews. Once we got to BRU, we made a final decision by eyeballing and being able to play with things (like the stroller - making sure we could fold it up easily and that we liked how it maneuvered). It helped us a lot to have a narrowed-down list of options, otherwise we would have been REALLY overwhelmed.
FWIW, we went with the Graco SnugRide 30 and the Graco stroller frame. The Chicco was on our short list and we ended up with the Graco mostly because of price. But if my parents already had a base for a Chicco, I would have probably gone with that.

@Jumpingjacks: we went to a baby store over the weekend also. just like your husband, my husband had a great time with the strollers and carriers. i had to actually ask him at one point if i could take a turn pushing the stroller we think we are going to get.
@eiko2010: we decided on the graco snugride 30 and the graco stroller frame as well! price was a big factor. for the stroller frame, i considered the baby trend snap n go because it was easier to fold (at least to me), but i liked that the graco carseat securely snapped into the graco model.
after the baby outgrows the carseat/stroller frame, we'd like to get the uppababy g-luxe. we really want something on the lighter side.
honeydew / 7504 posts
@edelweiss: Yeah, that's why we chose the Graco over the Jeep, even though the Jeep was recommended because it has a larger carrying basket. We're planning to upgrade to the Maclaren Volo when the time comes. We actually went ahead and threw it on the registry.

Anyone feeling some movement? I'm 17 weeks and am wondering if MAYBE I have been feeling Baby every now and then at night. Little flutters! It may just be wishful thinking on my part!
honeydew / 7504 posts
@coacheswife123: I'm 19 weeks tomorrow and still not feeling movement. A couple of times I thought I felt something, but it was seriously once about 2 weeks ago and then once the other night. It has not been at all consistent, so I don't think it was the baby.
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@eiko2010: i am SURE it is major wishful thinking on my part! the doc told us the earliest most 1st time moms ever feel it is 18 weeks - and our LO has been measuring a week ahead at each appointment. She also told me not to be alarmed if I still hadn't felt it by 20/21 weeks!

I'm 18 weeks 5 days, and I keep feeling twitching in my right side, a few inches under my belly button. Could that be the baby? It's pretty constant right now. But I thought it'd be more in the middle or something?

I found someone getting rid of the Jeep snap and go style and got it awhile ago. Then I decided I wanted the Britax B ready. Ohhh I am in heaven. It came and with out the seat and to use with the Car seat its SMALLER than the Jeep stroller frame, so I am now getting rid of the Jeep stroller frame. I am in love with my Britax. So glad I went with that one. Got it when it was on sale and then got the car seat for free....well my sister in law and brother did as a gift...they beat me to it! LOL

@coacheswife123: I have felt movement, I am 17 weeks, 2 days. It is pregnancy #2 for me so I think that is why I am picking up on it so early. With LO, I think it was close to 20 weeks before I felt any movement.
U/S for gender on 8/28- then the name game can begin between DH and I
No registering for me since it is #2, Piece of advice- When I asked BRU about keeping registry private until it was complete (I wanted to work on it early and slowly adding things as I researched them) BRU doesn't have those capabilities so they recommended registering under a different last name until you are ready to share your registry. So that is what I did, now I always get two sets of flyers mailed so I end up with double coupons. Our fake last name was our pup's name...so we get things to the "franklin family"

@Pipers Mommy: my gender u/s is the day after yours - we are sooo ready!
i went to BRU last weekend and, have only done an online registry so far. When they pulled me up in the system they said they couldnt find me and i havent been getting any coupons??? But my registry is there and it has a registry number. Not sure what to do about that??

I am 17 weeks tomorrow and think the baby's going through a growth spurt. I have been starving and exhausted over the past few days - I am so glad I'm on vacation. I dont know how I could function at work like this!

We found out the genders this week. It's .... two boys!!! Super excited and both are doing very well.
I've started feeling movements here and there, although I could not tell you which baby I'm actually feeling, haha!
