I have been seriously slacking on this board! 29 weeks this week! Whoo! Baby girl is doing well. I have a marginal cord insertion, so we'll have an ultrasound at 32 weeks to make sure everything looks good. My glucose test results came back negative for GD, yay! I am a little anemic and have some above-average anticoagulant factors that they will keep an eye on. It makes sense, now, that I've been having bad bloody noses for much of my life and why I had issues with hemorrhaging after my first delivery. Anyway! I've just been super forgetful about posting here, so I wanted to say hi. Loving all the cute bellies! I swear I already look as big as I did when I had my second.

@snowjewelz: You don't look huge, you look adorable!!!

@madger: I've definitely been hungrier the past week or so too, and had a doctor's appt yesterday (non pregnancy related) where I had to get on the scale...

Been having lots of pelvic pain and BHs today. Hopefully just a result of the workout I did yesterday and not an indication of how the next 13 weeks will go.

@limabeanbabies: Hi! Glad everything's going relatively well! I know... I am 100% sure I'm as big as when I gave birth last time, lol!

@IRunForFun: Ugh, me too. Just so uncomfortable and in pain most of the time! Heartburn had me going nuts last night!

@limabeanbabies: I think I am a little bigger this time. I did a comparison picture yesterday afternoon.
@IRunForFun: I am having BH's as well. I didn't with my first, so they are throwing me for a loop.

  7. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@Smurfette: I didn't have as many w/ DD either (or maybe I just was never sure WHAT I was feeling down there haha). I've had them on and off for a while now, but they're stronger for sure.

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@snowjewelz: @Smurfette: Sorry you're both uncomfortable too! I have had random BH's since like 16 weeks, but the past few days they've been more frequent. I'm still having a lot of pain and pressure in my pelvis and even in my butt today which is making a little nervous. I went for a 40 minute walk, which I know didn't help. I was hoping not to have to spend $ on a support belt but I might have to at this point.

27 weeks on Saturday ! I'm pretty sure this is about as big as I got last time... I'm not a person who enjoys pregnancy so I'm quite uncomfortable already. Braxton hicks have started up and unfortunately it seems to be triggered when I bend over to play with my 2 year old. I also need to improve my diet. I have been eating a lot of sugary things which leaves me feeling not the greatest. Had my glucose test yesterday . Hoping results come back good, but if they didn't it might not be all negative since I'd be forced to address my eating.

    Hope everyone is doing well!

So I really fell off the map.... between a weekend at disney, my daughter's 3rd birthday, a work to trip to ATL and being swamped at work I havent had much time to play online and i stopped receiving email updates from this group.... weird.

I'm 30+3 and boy am i feeling pregnant. everything is a struggle. I passed my glucose test, got my flu and TDap shot. We settled on a name - William Thomas. We've been hard at work on the nursery - bought bedding, a dresser, new mattress, fixed the crib, etc. Booked a Newborn photography session. I'm trying really hard to get a jump on christmas shopping. I've worked out my maternity leave plan. Then we found out that my husbands insurance is changing to a high deductible plan in 2017. If I deliver in 2016 it will only cost $250, and if i deliver in 2017 it will cost $5k, so i'm working on switching me and the kids to my work's plan which will hopefully only cost $750 if i deliver in 2017.

How was everyone's halloween? did you dress up the bump?

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Peasinapod: you look great! Tiny bump!
@Chillybear: love the name! Very classic. Sounds like you have been busy and productive. Good thing you checked the insurance and are able to switch. I really want baby to stay in till Jan but I have already met the deductible for 2016 so really it would save us thousands if she comes after Christmas. She isn't allowed to come before the 25th.
We never dress up for Halloween(DH and me)but LO was a ghost and had a blast.

I think my ankles look a little swollen

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@Chillybear: Wow, you've been productive!!! I'm impressed. That's really insane how much your costs would vary based on insurance plans, I hope you're able to switch!!

We did nothing for Halloween. No kids yet so no real excuse to just dress up unless there's a party, which we didn't have this year.

@Smurfette: Boooo on swollen ankles. My feet have swelled a little bit a couple times when I've been standing for long periods of time.

So, I am supposed to have my GD test tomorrow morning. I happened to be talking to a pregnant friend of mine who is using the same midwife practice and she told me that she asked about alternatives to the glucola drink and was told she could drink 10 oz of grape juice instead. I wasn't told that, but also didn't ask. Now I am thinking or calling first thing in the morning and asking if I can do that instead. I don't want to be a pain but...if it's an option then I'd so much rather have grape juice...

@IRunForFun: I sat down and watched some TV with LO. It seems to have gone down. I can't remember when it started with LO.
I don't seem the harm in calling. Good luck!

@Smurfette: I'm glad the swelling has gone down!
@Chillybear: I love the name! we are looking at switching from our high deductible plan too because ugh, an early year baby is going to be SPENDY otherwise!

Halloween was so fun this year! My two year old was a strawberry and my dog (she comes to work with me) and I were the Clintons. She was a very elegant Hillary and loved wearing her lady blazer! I was pre-vegan Bill with the bump.

I'm not sure where the time has gone, 27 weeks already! I had my GD test this week and at that appointment we booked my next three, which will also include a growth ultrasound (I didn't get a 3rd one with my 1st, so this is a nice treat!). Still feeling really solid, I'm actually running a half marathon on the 19th! I'll take all the good days while I can!

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@madger: Hahahaha your Halloween costume with your dog sounds amazing!!! Awesome that you're running a half!!

Well, I ended up just drinking the glucola this morning to get the GD test over with, but I am pretty sure I failed. We have a glucose meter from some previous health stuff and so I tested myself in my car literally right before walking into my appointment/blood draw. The level was 157 so unless it managed to drop more than 17 points in less than 5 minutes...I told the midwife I'd tested, and my number, and she said if the lab results officially show I failed it's up to me whether I want to do the 3 hour test or jump straight to GD education and management. Ho hum.

Bleh I wrote a gold post a while back about pregnancy blues... I had a really bad probably 2 weeks or so? Now I'm starting to feel better. Between work stress, home stress and my tired body from being so pregnant, I was just in a bad place. Having GD also doesn't make it easier! I am just counting the days till this little one comes out!

  17. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@snowjewelz: I don't have Gold, but was it the one called third trimester blues or something? I actually had really wished I had Gold so I could read/chime in! I'm really glad you're starting to feel better now. Pregnancy is hard and I can't imagine doing it with a toddler, too.

I empathize and commiserate...between daily blood thinner injections, baby laying in a super uncomfortable breech position and refusing to budge, and now probable GD I'm just like...can I catch a break?? It feels so discouraging sometimes.

I hope that your stress at both work and home continues to lessen and you keep feeling better, but if not, feel free to vent here too! Hugs!

@IRunForFun: Did u decide to do the 3 hr test?

Thank you! I agree, and I think there's some pressure I put on myself like oh.. This may be my last pregnancy so I should treasure it, or oh.. I should just be grateful I am pregnant, and I didn't allow myself to admit that I'm just not feeling it at all! I think once I came clean with how I feel (even to myself), and also found out there is such a thing as ante-partum depression, I felt much better that I'm not just crazy!

  19. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@snowjewelz: I haven't decided yet! I should get the official lab results early next week and I will decide then. I'm leaning towards doing it, just in the off chance GD can be ruled out. I'm going to keep thinking it over, though.

Don't beat yourself up! There are so many unpleasant things about even the healthiest, easiest pregnancy, that it is totally unsurprising to feel down when things get hard and complicated. Even if you aren't cherishing every moment, the fact that you were putting pressure on yourself about it shows how much you care about the pregnancy and baby. I always thought I'd love being pregnant and that it would come naturally. Like, I couldn't want to experience pregnancy. Now? I saw the thread posted earlier about your favorite part of pregnancy and honestly struggled to even try and think of an answer...

It stinks, but it is what it is, and in the grand scheme of things I AM happy to be pregnant because it means I get a baby out of the deal. But that doesn't mean I'm enjoying these months very much!!

  20. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@IRunForFun: I agree... GD is not the end of the world, but it's annoying! If there's a chance to not be diagnosed with it, I'd take it. Seriously... My fav part is when the baby comes out and I'm no longer pregnant, hahaha!

@madger: You are my hero for running a half, I hope it goes really great for you!!!

@snowjewelz: Pregnancy is so hard. This time has been soooo different on my body and I hate having moments of wishing time away, but am really looking forward to baby in arms because the stress/tax on my body at this point is just unreal. The impact it has on my day to day at work, at home and just on me feeling so physically limited has really hurt. I have a slight obsession with baby movement and get so much joy feeling her in there, so try to hold on to those positives and just self preserve through the weeks ahead.

  22. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@sunnyday: I'm so sorry you're feeling the same way! But I'm glad I'm not alone. Now that the babies are getting so big, it hurts when she kicks/jabs/whatever she's doing in there, but then if she doesn't move then I get nervous, lol! Can't win!

  23. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@snowjewelz: I get so nervous when I don't feel her. It is weird there are days where I hardly feel her at all, till I am going to bed. Then days when I like What the hell are you doing in there because it feels like she is doing jumping jacks.

Are your dr's having you do kick counts yet? mine gave me a work sheet at my last appt (28w) to start and do through rest of pregnancy. Right now i've been counting in the 8-9pm hours and i usually get my 10 kicks in under 10 min

  25. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@Chillybear: That's so interesting! I've never done it with DD1 and no one told me to do it this time either.

  26. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Chillybear: I never did it with LO and haven't with this one. The OB nurse did say I should try and do it, also said that she would start to have a pattern by now and she doesn't, other then she kicks more when I lay down to go to sleep.

  27. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@Chillybear: My midwife hasn't mentioned kick counts. Do they just want you to pick one hour during the day and see if you get 10 kicks/movements during it?

  28. Chillybear

    pomegranate / 3032 posts

@IRunForFun: So i found an app for my phone that has a kick counter - sprout pregnancy - I start the session usually after i put my LO to bed and lay on the couch and every kick I record when I get to 10 the app tells me how long it took to get to ten... I think the sheet the dr gave me is if it takes longer than 30 min to drink cold water, change position, etc. If it normally takes X min to get 10 kicks then you have a day that it takes longer they want to know about it

  30. Smurfette

@Chillybear: that is a lot of kicks in a short time frame! I don't think I ever have felt that many in a short time.

  31. Chillybear

    pomegranate / 3032 posts

@Smurfette: This kid moves around a lot! plus you're supposed to count really any movement - kicks, rolls, nudges, hiccups.

  32. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Chillybear: She still doesn't have a pattern that I could even count them. If I don't feel her for awhile, I just drink water, lay down, etc and then she will move.

  33. Chillybear

    pomegranate / 3032 posts

@Smurfette: Sometimes I get bored counting them and i like nudge his butt and he kicks me back - totally counts!

  34. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@Chillybear: Oh my gosh I think your OB's instructions would make me paranoid! I know I usually feel baby move most when I'm sitting eating breakfast and then again when I get in bed at night; during the day if I realize I think I haven't felt anything in a while I will either sit or lay down and drink cold water and poke my belly. I don't think I'm going to try to really count though because then small discrepancies would make me nervous. If I ever notice a marked decrease in movement I think I'll just call!

Hi guys, been a while! Hope everyone is doing well. All the bump pics are suuuuper cute. I had my 30 week appointment today and all looks good, baby is measuring a little small and I somehow haven't gained any weight in the past six weeks so...good excuse to eat a ton!

@Chillybear: @Smurfette: Aw, cute active babies! I'm loving the kicks this time around, I think this one is definitely more active.

@IRunForFun: Yeah, I never pay attention and wouldn't want to keep that close track either! I would freak myself out.

How are you guys doing with baby names? Has everyone decided?

  36. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

    @babypugs: Eat away!!

We've always had a named picked out... We basically always had two girl names (before even getting pregnant), and after DD1, our feelings haven't changed for the other name

  37. babypugs

    persimmon / 1101 posts

@snowjewelz: Aw, that's awesome! Do the two girl names have any relationship to each other? I'm totally floundering on the name ideas and am asking everyone for help, ha!

  38. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@babypugs: Oh totally extremely matchy matchy hahaha. Both start with K, and currently, DD1's middle name is DD2's first name's meaning, and DD2's middle name will be DD1's name's meaning. Confusing much?!

  39. babypugs

    persimmon / 1101 posts

@snowjewelz: Now that's well thought out!! I want to do matching first letters but my husband and two dogs all have names that start with the same letter, and when I'm mad or in a panic I always take three tries to get the name right, so I'm sure I'd just mess that up.

  40. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@babypugs: At my last appointment I hadn't gained any weight in 5 weeks either! I want to eat all the cookies and ice cream but still waiting on my official 1 hr GD results and anticipating having to do the 3 hr next week.

As far as names...no. We talk about it from time to time, write lists, then narrow it down, but we can't seem to get down to fewer than 4. There isn't one name we both strongly agree on. I have a feeling we will be one of those couples waiting till the baby comes out and then picking.

I just realized I can use the midwife practice's patient portal to check for my lab results...stalking...I wonder how long it takes? I had my blood draw Thursday morning.
