@Peasinapod: yeah that's why I am hesitant to add hours... I feel like these days are hard since we are just starting out, but maybe I can find a better balance later and will want to spend time with her instead of sending her to daycare even more. OR I am being smart to just send her more lol...

@Peasinapod: I'm just east of TO

My 2.5 y/o will be in daycare til Family Day or so. Sort of a rough end date for now. If daycare finds a replacement for the spot and they need a certain date we will just adhere to that. Funny we did the morning yesterday in underwear (DS!) and no accidents, but when we went out for afternoon on went diapers. He's ready, but Winter and layers, I'm not in a rush, once he is home FT with me again, I think we will go for it. We are outside almost constantly when it's nice, makes such a difference and it sounds silly, but that time outside eases the mess inside the house and that's just a win win, lol. Do you have an early yrs centre close by? We go to a lot of their programming! Our local community car has a drop in pre school gym too a couple times a week. I am debating finding an actual preschool for hkm a couple mornings a week for the attachment factor and socialization. We'll see.

We had lunch with friends that had a baby over Thanksgiving. I couldn't hold her cause of my cold but she is so tiny and it got me excited/nervous that we are having one in 9 days or less.

Who will have the first January in January baby in here?

Hope everyone had a good NYE no matter how uneventful! My kids were in bed at 6:30 and 7! I was by 8 and DH and I pvr'd some hockey on earlier in the day (world jrs!) that we watched later on!

No excitement here in terms of baby. I debated trying castor oil once clear of 2016 for no real reason except for fun, but opted not to...what's a couple more days

@Smurfette: Awwww. We had dinner with friends who have a 6 month old and although he isn't tiny (he's a BIG baby) it was fun to play with him and think of where we might be mid-year.

@sunnyday: Castor oil doesn't sound like my idea of a good time! Haha.

I have had lots of cramping and - TMI - diarrhea today and at first I thought maybe it was a sign of labor, but it's been happening since about 11 am and I'm not having any other signs, so now I'm thinking it's probably just a bug. I'm a bit nervous b/c all I've been able to eat today is a bowl of oatmeal, some crackers, and a banana. Hopefully I'll feel better by tomorrow.

@IRunForFun: hopefully you don't have the nasty bug going around.
@sunnyday: castor oil is one thing I won't try!

@sunnyday: we do have an early years centre really close (which is great since I don't drive) I'm planning to take her to their circle time . And I have her on a waiting list for the pre school program (just half days twice a week). Im hoping the stah part will also be easier when I'm not so uncomfortable ! And luckily my husband will take a month off to help with the newborn.

@snowjewelz: I think if we financially could have swung it I would have kept my lo in daycare. She had an amazing program and loved it there , learned so much. But I couldn't justify the cost when I'm home. So I'm doing my best to make at home just as enriching for her and hoping it will be a good thing for me to have some forced structure.

@Smurfette: newborns are super sweet I can't get over how tiny DD2 is!

@IRunForFun: I had pretty bad diarrhea the night before... Dr is saying it's prob bc my water broke and I got infected tho.

If anyone wants to exchange IG names.. Wall me!! I don't want to spam this thread with pics of DD2 haha!

@snowjewelz: Yeah, haha, it subsided eventually. Although I still have zero appetite. I'm about to try and force myself to eat some toast. Still not sure if it's a bug or my body just generally getting ready! I'll wall you my IG name!!

    Yay on adds!

I got my nursing tanks back from a gf today, she also had a wee snowsuit that is bonus to get back as well, she gave me some extra NB dipes she had leftover and padsicle things....I have never used those....so maybe round three? lol.

Those nursing tanks make my hospital bag pretty much ready to go.

Contractor emails us yesterday....starting basement room next week, haha....won't that be fun Hopefully quick, just a bedroom and storage space, the other 1100/1200 sq feet will be done in a couple years.

@sunnyday: Awesome on hospital bag being ready! I did some errands today and grabbed a pack of Hanes briefs in 2 sizes up from my normal (so granny panties basically) and once I wash those and add a pair or two to my bag should be set aside from last minute items like phone charger, etc.

This kid loves to punch and/or headbutt my cervix. Ouch.

  16. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@sunnyday: All I packed was yoga pants, pj pants, nursing tank, and a cardigan for the hospital. Comfy all the way this time.
@IRunForFun: Honestly you probably don't need the undies at the hospital. The mesh one they give are better since you are heavily bleeding. I switched to the granny panties when I got home.

At how many weeks did you guys get your hospital bags together? I think because I have a midwife this time and am really hoping not to have to stay long past delivery I just haven't worried at all.

  18. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@Smurfette: Yeah, I figured I'd throw a pair or two in just in case I want to wear them home. They don't take up too much room!

@Peasinapod: I'm 37+1 and started putting stuff into mine last week. More so just so I'm not scrambling when the time comes. I just have a nursing bra, nursing tank, 2 pair of yoga pants, and a long-sleeve button down. Plus toiletries and I'll throw in my phone charger and some snacks. Are you birthing at a birth center?

  19. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Peasinapod: I did it right after Christmas. So right before 38 weeks. I packed the baby's weeks ago cause I was bored one day.
@IRunForFun: I just mentioned it cause whenever I overpack I end up washing everything anyway cause I don't like dirty and clean clothes mixed. I am such an overpacker too.

I did just think I need to get some $1 bills for the vending machine just in case. Last night at 3am I was shaking like crazy and made DH go get me a Sprite ASAP before I got the epidural.

@Smurfette: I'm such a bad overpacker. I did throw in some plastic bags to put dirty clothes into to keep them separate. Good idea on the $1 bills and change.

DH hasn't packed a thing and I know he won't until it's go time, so I have given up fighting that battle. He always waits till the last minute. But I figure he just needs to throw a change of clothes and a toothbrush in a bag and he'll be fine.

  22. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@IRunForFun: My DH is the same way. I didn't even ask him. I know it will be like last time, packing right before we go to the hospital.

  23. babypugs

    persimmon / 1101 posts

@sunnyday: Nice! I definitely still have a lot to add. I can't remember what LO1 wore in the hospital--was it provided?? Argh! Haha

@IRunForFun: Smart idea about the bags. Hospital stuff is ick.

@Peasinapod: I started this week at 37, still not done at 37 + 5. I feel like I had so much time last time, I'm letting myself believe I can just take care of it when the time comes! We also live pretty close to the hospital and I'm pretty sure DH would be happy to have an excuse to run home.

  24. Peasinapod

    clementine / 770 posts

@IRunForFun: we'll be going to the hospital but as long as everything goes well we should leave 3 hours after birth.

I'll still pack as though I might have to stay of course . I won't be 37 weeks until Saturday so I'm not too behind...

Last time I used pretty much nothing I brought despite staying 2 days. I'm thinking most important things are going to be baby related (wipes and going home outfit warm enough for winter) for me I pretty much just need tooth brush toiletries and home outfit.

I was so much more on top of this last time around!@babypugs: @Smurfette:

  25. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@Peasinapod: Wow that's lucky! I'm using midwives at a hospital and the soonest they'll discharge me is 24 hours, but it's up to the pediatrician when baby gets released and it's almost never before 48 hours.

  26. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@sunnyday: I love those witch hazel pads just bc they are cool and feel good hah! I don't use any of the creams/ointments they give.

@Peasinapod: I didn't pack one till I realize I had to go... But I had a list so it didn't take DH too long to put it together. I really didn't pack much and didn't need much; whatever else I needed I had DH or my mom bring after the fact

@Peasinapod: wow! I can't imagine leaving after three hours. I remember last time going to the recovery room and thinking they are just going to leave her with us? I am sure I will be just as nervous this time. Afraid I forgot everything.

  29. snowjewelz

@Smurfette: I forgot they had to be burped

  30. Smurfette

@snowjewelz: ha! I am most nervous about BF. Like how is she supposed to latch, having to nurse in public a lot more since we will have to be out more with LO, etc. I need to find a video refresher course.

  31. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@Smurfette: that part has been easier for me! Her being in NICU didn't help, but I wasn't afraid To pump at the hospital, and I tolerated pain much much better (I'm almost like eh about it while I cried and cried last time lol). Also way more confident about it now and not freaking out so much!

  32. sunnyday

    kiwi / 573 posts

@IRunForFun: My granny panties are definitely packed

I didn't even ask DH if he has packed. We are 10 mins from hospital, so I know he will come home to shower and such and he's always in track pants anyways....tooth brush and he's fine, lol.

@Smurfette: I have only ever done comfy, lots of track pants and spandex shorts, lol.

Nursing round two....I wasn't even sure I wanted to nurse again, but I can say I have nursed pretty much everywhere now with confidence, lol. And sooner, I remember being at the zoo within two weeks of having DS, sat on a bench and nursed, I kind of just got to a point where oh well...he needs to be fed, let's do this!

    @babypugs: added you

@Peasinapod: three hours after birth? I have known a few people to leave same day, how? Is that a midwife thing? So unreal!! Our hospital here has an old side and new birthing suite. First baby got to stay on old side the new time, second time it was busy and delivered on new side, then moved to old.....it was so bleh compared to the other side and I want home ASAP if I have to go over there again, lol.

DH is edgy today, kids are super clingy to me, day just feels off, he's all paranoid it's gonna happen, haha! I was like "can you take chicken out from the freezer to defrost for Thursday?" and he's like really? You sure? I was like....we'll be here....chill.

@Peasinapod: 3 hours, so cool! You are much less of a wimp than me. I like to be catered to for a couple days. Last time they had to teach me how to change a diaper before I left, ha!

@Chillybear: Ugh, so sorry. It does feel weird to be back at work. Hope the babe comes soon!

@Peasinapod: @snowjewelz: my two year old will still be in daycare while I am on maternity leave. partially because I have zero idea how stay at home moms do it with a nursing newborn and a toddler, and partially (mostly) because my daughter LOVES it and I don't want to screw with her routine.

@Peasinapod: I am not packing until 38ish weeks this time. (I'm not due until the 30th)

nursing round two, I am feeling more prepared this time for sure. I nursed my daughter until she was 20 months but we had a ROUGH start (tongue tie, latch issues, bleeding nipples...), so I am prepared with ALL THE RESOURCES this time!

@Chillybear: I'm with you. I have gotten lots of I can't believe you are here, why are you here, you haven't had that baby yet,etc comments. I told my bosses that I would come in Thursday as well as today, but Wed (I have a mid morning doctor's appointment), Fri, and Mon I am working from home. Sitting at my desk isn't comfy at all.

I hope everyone who is ready's babies get the memo and start the eviction process!

I just had my 37 week appt (I'm 37+2) and the midwife was feeling for position and said baby is so low she couldn't feel the head at all. Everything else was still good, weight, BP, heartrate and all that. Did my GBS swab finally so I'm super curious to get those results. Have a scan at MFM tomorrow and also very curious to see what growth occurred over the past week and if the midwife is right about the head being super low.
