@Chastenet: Thank you! I have no idea what I'm in for! We are very excited! How old is your little girl?
@MsBadger: Thank you for updating the list!
@spaniellove: Good for listening to your gut and switching OB's!

@MsBadger: thanks for updating the list!! so nice to see everything in one place
welcome to all the new moms who have joined in the past week!!
we had our first appointment at our new office (which was actually our MFM office from my first pregnancy) yesterday. it felt like I was home!! the moment I stepped in and recognized familiar faces and heard all the warm welcomes, I knew we did the right thing by switching back. of course some of the staff has changed since we were there last year, but I was pleasantly surprised by how many of the nurses/techs were still there. and my doctor. I loved my doctor and she made me feel so at ease yesterday. they did an u/s (I'm 14 wks, 5 days) and everything looks great! we finally got our NT/blood test results and everything looked perfect. so now the plan is to see them every 3-4 weeks and have as uneventful of a pregnancy as possible. I am still so shaken up by everything from last time. I know a multiples pregnancy is completely different than a singleton, but I can't seem to shake the feeling that something awful is going to happen again. just taking this one day at a time!
for all you second time moms, will your new LO share a room with your oldest, or will they have separate rooms? I'm letting myself start to plan (ahh!) and I'm a little worried about sleeping arrangements since DD will be 18 months when baby arrives and we will likely have them share rooms. I can't even begin to think about the logistics of that...
can't wait to hear everyone's updates on upcoming appointments!!

@calsmom: She's 16 months, will be 20 when LO2 is born.
@beachbee: Yes, our kids will share a room. We have 3 bedrooms, but I would prefer to have them share until they are at least 5-6 yrs old. I work from home and use the 3rd bedroom as my office / guest bedroom. LO2 will sleep in a bassinet in our room for the first 6 months at least, then I think we'll need to do some sort of sleep training to get him/her to sleep well so they can move into the same room without waking each other up. My only worry is how I will fit a toddler bed and a crib in there before LO2 is big enough to go into a toddler bed, at which point we'll set them up in some sweet bunk beds.

@Chastenet: We're planning to do the same for the same reasons. Definitely don't want to give up BR3. However, BR2 is small so fitting 2 cribs in there will be interesting. Not sure we'll be ready to move LO1 to a toddler bed at 23 months, we shall see.

@Sunshine710: Our DD's room is small, too. It is the smallest bedroom, but it is also closest to our bedroom with the third one being at the front of our unit (typical, vintage, Chicago brownstone lay out). So, yeah, it'll be tight. Right now, I have her crib, a chair, a changing table and a dresser in there. I think I will have to temporarily move the dresser to my bedroom to fit two beds in there with a changing table, and then hopefully I can get rid of the changing table, bring the dresser back in and put up some bunk beds when their old enough. With LO2 in a bassinet for the first 6 months or so, DD would be almost 2.5 yrs old when we move her to a toddler bed, so I hope she's ready! I would like to avoid buying a second crib if I can

@Chastenet: ha! I love all the thought you've given to it that makes complete sense. we have a 3rd BR also, but we've decided to have them share for a while and eventually we may convert the guest/office into a room for one of the littles. LO is 13 months right now so she will only be about 18 months when the baby is born... and we are JUST now getting her to sleep in her own room after co-sleeping for the past year. You are right though, the baby will sleep with us for a while and then we'll have to figure out how to keep them from waking each other up! Luckily our current nursery room is big enough for a crib and a toddler bed, we just have to move some things around and we should be good. I really don't want to buy another crib, so we'll see!
@Sunshine710: your LO might be ready at 23 months... my nephew started climbing out of his crib around 20 months, so whether they were ready or not he moved to a toddler bed he's actually doing really well in it!

@MsBadger: thanks for updating!
Well it looks like DD is going to have a little sister! Ultrasound today confirmed that baby is all GIRL! Just like with DD all the old wives tales and Chinese gender charts were wrong. Not to mention my dreams which all said boy haha. So excited for DD to have a little buddy though

@beachbee: I need to get DD back to sleeping on her own...We basically started brining her in our bed while in France...We've been back for 1.5 weeks now and she is still coming in our bed every night. I need to find the resolve to re-sleep train her.
@leelee: Congrats!!! How wonderful for your daughter to have a sister

@leelee: Congrats! So much for those old wives tales; how cute that your DD is going to have a sister!

@MsBadger: @Chastenet: @spaniellove: thanks ladies! Kinda nice that all we really need to get this time around is a double stroller.
On another note, DD decided to throw us for a loop and has figured out how to climb out of her crib so naps and nighttime have been wonderful ;P. I guess it's time to transition her to a toddler bed and extra child proofing of her room (doorknobs, toy drawers...)

@leelee @tundra daisy : wow, congratulations on finding out the sex of your babies! how exciting. just curious, did the sonographers try to determine the sex via a 2D scan first then go to the 3D? or was it just a 3D scan? due to travel and holiday schedules i won't be able to have the anomaly / anatomy scan until i'm probably 22 weeks or so and i just can't wait that long to find out so i'm going to go to a private clinic. they offer gender checks in both 2D and 3D starting at 16 weeks (3D scan being pricier than the 2D) and i'm wondering if it's just worth it for me to jump for the 3D scan if that means a better chance at determining baby's sex.

Guys, I don't know what to do! This is not a true crisis, I'm just frustrated. I'm pretty sure I bought new bras a little over a month ago and I've already outgrown them AGAIN. I started at a 34B and have outgrown a 34C. I'm not sure if it's the cup or the band, because I tried a different hook today but everything feels tight. STMs, please tell me it's going to get better.
kiwi / 614 posts
@spaniellove: mine suddenly grew in the 2nd tri and then stabilized. I bought 1 size up and didn't need anything else. Haven't noticed any changes so far this time but I'm still bf'ing dd once per day so that may be why. I suggest you buy 2 cheap bras in your new size so it isn't a big investment lost if you need to buy a different size later.

@beachbee - we are planning on having them share a room. My daughter will be 26 months when the baby arrives and I think we will have it in the rock n' play in our room for a few weeks/months, but they will share a very tiny, brooklyn brownstone room sooner or later. I know it seems anxiety inducing but I know so many people who have done it and they say they both get used to each other very quickly.
We got the results back from the MaterniT21 test and everything looks great. Such a relief! And we are definitely team green. I had my NT and sequential screen today and will get the results next week when I see my OB again. Nice to have all the first tri stuff out of the way. So then we will tell our families on Christmas and hello second trimester.
Have we talked names in this group yet? Anyone have any ideas yet they want to share?
persimmon / 1194 posts
@stp: thanks! they can really only determine sex from the 2D. The 3D was just for fun after for us and free. If you have to pay I would only do 2D for sex and hold off on getting 3D until after 24 weeks when they get chubbier. DD2 seriously looked freaky at this stage in 3D I looked at my husband during the 3D portion and he had a complete look of horror lol. At 16 weeks the tech shouldn't have any problem determining sex if baby is cooperating. I was 13 weeks for both DD and DD2 when they told us. Drink some juice about 30 minutes before your appt to get baby moving though

@spaniellove: have you tried bra extenders? I had to get those really early on with DD but they were a lifesaver. Last pregnancy I went from 34C to 38G also when I did need to buy a new size I just went to Ross, Marshall's or TJ maxx since a lot of theirs are only $5

Haven't checked in in a while. Excited to see some new June mamas joining and hear about all the good scans and gender news!
Everything looked good from my scan, although my doctor's office gave me quite a scare when they called to tell me since my OB told me no news was good news. We won't find out the sex till the 20w ultrasound, but I'm feeling another boy!
Starting to tell more people and feeling pretty good as I move into the 2nd tri. Leave next week for holiday travel. Cross country trip with a crazy 2 yr old. Wish me luck!
Love hearing about all the room sharing stuff. We are debating if ours will share or not.
kiwi / 614 posts
@shortcake: We haven't talked names at all I'm game for sharing ours...Our criteria are: 1-2 syllables (long last name), identical spelling in English and French.
We will use our boy name from our 1st pregnancy if it's a boy, and if it's a girl we are still kind of undecided but mostly set. So either Paul or Rose at this point. DD is Alice and I think those names go together well
honeydew / 7916 posts
@Chastenet: Bahaha I like your name ideas and they go with Alice very nicely! Such graceful names.
@leelee: I hadn't thought of bra extenders but might try that before investing in new bras. I don't want to buy any more maternity type clothes until closer to the end when I'm much bigger and I have to switch over to warm weather clothes (can't wait for warm weather!).
@shortcake: Hopefully no family members will find my name ideas here...we are thinking Julian for a boy and Penelope for a girl. Penelope is a mouthful with a hyphenated last name, so we figure that would get shortened to a nickname.
persimmon / 1385 posts
@Chastenet: Bahahaha! Yep Paul and Rose drove us all away
I think those are both great names. I also love the fact that you are taking into consideration the English/French translation.
We haven't really talked names yet. I think we will probably wait to get serious about it until after the anatomy scan.
Right now my favorite for girls are Nora or Nina (my great aunt's name) with the middle name Luisa (DH's mom's name), and I also like Lela (my great grandmother's name).
I have a much harder time with boys names. The only ones I can even possibly fathom right now, but I'm not really in love with any of them are Finn, Asher, or Sutter.
kiwi / 614 posts
@MsBadger: I knew it! Guess it's back to the drawing board
I LOVE Nina - that was on our shortlist for DD and would have been this time around, too but my BFF used it for her daughter. And I hear you on boy's names, that is why we are re-using Paul this time around, it's the only one we really like that works in both languages.
@spaniellove: Thanks I really like both your name choices, I think Penny is adorable as a nickname for Penelope.

Sorry @Chastenet: I had such a busy weekend, that I missed your name post! I do like you name choices!
We haven't talked any more about names since we found out that we are having a boy. I have a short list from our 2 year TTC journey that hasn't changed or really been discussed much since I got pregnant. We are looking for short names due to a long last name. That is my husband's only spoken request so far, so I am going to try and find options that we like that are shorter. My top boy names currently are Owen, Clay, maybe Ryan or Mason (although it has gotten a little more popular than I would like). I think Owen might be a slight leader in my mind but I haven't talked with DH lately about it and I don't have any good middle name ideas. I love the idea of family names but we don't have good choices, so I think we are pulling names from anywhere. Does anyone have suggestions for good, short names?
pear / 1786 posts
@spaniellove: I love Penelope but hear you on the longer last name. What about Poppy as a different option for a nn for Penelope, or do you have something in mind?
kiwi / 551 posts
@kentuckygirl: My little boy is John and I love his name and got really positive feedback from everyone when we announced it (after he was born).
@Chastenet: Alice is high on our list. I had a dear aunt Alice who passed away this summer and its one of the few girl names we agree on. We also both like Ally as a nickname.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@kentuckygirl: @Chastenet: Apparently there are a lot of nicknames for Penelope! I was surprised when I started searching. Penny, Poppy, Piper, Pepper, Ellie/Ella, Lily, Lola, Nellie, Pippa...I figure if we go with this name we could see what her personality is like before choosing a nickname. Piper and Pepper might be out though because of our last name.
pear / 1786 posts
@spaniellove: I love the variety of NNs! That sounds perfect to wait and see what fits!
honeydew / 7916 posts
@LovelyPlum: No not yet! I'm hoping maybe next week at the MFM but am afraid to get my hopes up in case they want to make it a very technical appointment!

Love hearing all the names so far. I haven't talked to my husband about names at all yet, but it is fun to start thinking. And we need lots of options since we are not finding out. I think our middle name will be Walker regardless of the sex since that is my husband's grandmother's maiden name.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@shortcake: Love Walker! I'd use it except we know someone with that name, plus I have two cousins named Walter.
Just for fun, I'll mention that our backup boy name (which used to be our first choice) is Bennett...I'm just afraid of it getting shortened to Ben. I guess I'm also afraid of it being pegged as a very hipster name.
kiwi / 614 posts
@kentuckygirl: I like all your choices, but agree that Mason is very popular. I think it's in the top 5 even.
@BabyBruins: I love my daughter's name, I think it's a classic name that you can't really go wrong with
@shortcake: I like the significant middle name. Our children will all have my maiden name as their middle name.
@spaniellove: I like Bennet, it doesn't sound too hipster to me.

I had a regular checkup with my OB today and got an unexpected ultrasound! Baby is getting big in there (15 weeks yesterday). We are also getting closer and closer to officially having a boy in there. There was another good shot today, but I'm waiting for the 20 week for a 100% confirmation. The other piece of good news was that I only gained a pound since my last appointment!
The bummer news of the day is that my little J has very mild pneumonia . He has been on and off sick for the past 6 weeks. But hopefully we can knock this thing out and he can enjoy his 2nd birthday in *gasp* 2 weeks!
kiwi / 673 posts
@Mrs.Ham: woo hoo!!! I was 16 weeks yesterday, and I'm so happy to finally start feeling better, my "all-day" sickness is slowly passing!
we haven't talked names yet, but will likely have a few girls and a few boys names since we're team green. last time we did that and i gave LO her name as soon as I put my eyes on her. i hope it all clicks like that this time too! you guys are giving me great name ideas, i love everything (especially Penelope, so cute and great nickname options!).
pea / 21 posts
@leelee: thank you for your input. I ended up going with the 2d package and they did a sneaky peek in 3d/4d as well and we actually couldn't really see baby's face as it was really nestled into the very corner.
in any case, it looks like our son will most likely have a baby brother! The tech did make the caveat that at 16 weeks-ish some girls do still have swollen bits but she was pretty sure it was a boy.
oh man, this is all becoming more real and I am getting more excited! I will admit that a small part of me was sad for a few minutes knowing that this is likely our last baby and we won't have a girl... but that feeling was gone after a few minutes and I am thankful!
honeydew / 7916 posts
@BabyBruins: @stp: Yeah! More boys for our list!
Has anyone else been having weird stomach issues going on lately? I can't eat more than a few bites of anything at a time. Sometimes I feel like my stomach is just really compressed but that can't be happening yet. At first I thought maybe my ulcers from 10 years ago might be coming back. Not sure what's happening!
