@spaniellove: I'm jealous of your hvac system - we're in a vintage unit with no ducts for central air/heat
I didn't do a formal maternity shoot - the day before DD was born my mom (who was a photography teacher) did an informal shoot with DH and me. She also did a newborn shoot for us when DD arrived. I honestly don't have either photos up in my home, I prefer the 6 month and 12 month shoots we did since DD has so much more personality there. Do you know any amateur photographers who could snap a few shots for you do you don't have to shell out too much cash?
Congratulations on your little boy!!! That's so exciting!!!
@Duckling: Ugh, I'm sorry that you'll have to have weekly scans and that your LO is at risk of heart developmental issues. I hope everything turns out to be just fine and the extra precaution was all for nothing Congratulations on your boy!!! I'm a little bummed you are no longer team green - but super happy for you!
@MsBadger: Good news about the CF test results! How's the nursery prep coming along? Love your colors & inspiration pics One thing about the book wall - it's beautiful, but your LO will pull them all down constantly and you won't always have the time/energy to arrange them nicely again, so it may not always look that cute! Also, just a note, any books that you particularly like, do not give to LO while their under the age of 2 (maybe, I'm guessing here) DD is 16m and has destroyed so many books - she rips them apart, eats them...Etc. There are a few I regret letting her get her hands on!
@Tundra Daisy: How was your scan? My 20 wk is in 2 weeks - looking forward to it!
@kentuckygirl: I like your nursery ideas As for the rocker, I would definitely recommend you go neutral for re-use in a future bedroom since rockers are expensive. But if you do go with Navy that is a color that could be used with hot pink or red in a girls room or with a kelly green in boys room (among many other things - just saying, you can make that gender neutral).

@Duckling: @spaniellove: Welcome to the boy club!!! Glad you were both able to find out yesterday!

@Chastenet: Thanks for the words of advice! Since I pinned that we decided to significantly scale down the book wall for those exact reasons. It will only be 4 small ledges hung a little higher off the ground. I think it will be a little more for art than for function.
I'm also in the middle of painting a mid century dresser I found on Craigslist and choosing a wall color (that part always takes me FOREVER).
Hope everyone else is feeling well. We finally got to schedule our anatomy scan. January 22nd. I can't wait!!!

@Sunshine710: Eeek so exciting!
@MsBadger: I want to see this MCM dresser! Is it one of the wide low ones?
How is everyone doing this week? I imagine we must have some bumps by now!
I'm still taking nausea meds 2-3 times a day and have accepted that as my new reality. Whatever it takes to eat I'm fine with. I had to go out today in the freezing cold and the only jacket I had for this kind of weather is my down jacket that was already a little tight pre-pregnancy so seriously I looked like a sausage! Thank goodness there are two zipper pulls and I could unzip the bottom a little!
persimmon / 1385 posts
@spaniellove: Oh man, I am so lucky my down jacket still fits (definitely tight, but zips). I couldn't imagine going out yesterday in feels like -43 without it!
As far as the dresser goes, I found a pictures of one. The one I bought was pretty beat up so I'm painting it my signature color... white . It's pretty small at 52", but I had to fit it on a wall that is 54" between door frames, and MCM was pretty much my only option in that size (good thing I love everything MCM anyway ).

Hi ladies! So I am officially a SAHM now. It's way harder than going to the office. I feel like I have to clean, clean, clean all the time and keep my little guy going or he just gets cranky and bored. I would love to meet more moms in my area, but its really hard. It's like dating all over again. Ugh. However, it seemed like EVERY mom at the park today that already had a little one was pregnant. So there are others in my same boat which is nice. So how do I start talking to them?
Now that I am not working, I can go to the pre-natal yoga class (which is mid-morning on a weekday - do pregnant women in my town not work?!?!? Apparently no they don't since the class is packed. Or they all have nannies which could also be true based on the # of nannies at the park. I'm not totally innocent here, I did hire someone to play with J for about 10 hours a week so i can go to said yoga class. Sorry, rant over.). Anyways, yoga class is awesome. The teacher is a doula and is really positive about birth and reminding us that the pain and discomfort during a pose in class is kind of like a contraction... it will eventually end and be over. I'm still hoping for a VBAC so this is giving me lots to think about. I never even had contractions with J. And its an opportunity to meet other pregnant moms and it seems like all the second timers have kids around J's age.
@spaniellove: My bump has been large and in charge for a few weeks now. At Christmas I was terrified that I would look bigger than my cousin who is about 5 weeks ahead of me, but she is bigger. BUT, I'm much bigger than my SIL who is only about 2 weeks behind me. Ugh.
Is anyone feeling some movement? I am pretty sure most of my "muscle spasms" are actually baby. I can't wait for the really big kicks that hubs can feel!

Wow, I have really been out of the loop, so much exciting news to catch up on. So exciting to hear about the nursery plans and finding out which "teams" everyone's on! We're team green so I am going to have to wait awhile...
@Chastenet: thank you so much for sharing all this great advice - I really appreciate it. You confirmed so we of the items I've been thinking about and gave me some new ideas. Between your suggestions and some from a friend of mine I recently saw for brunch I am starting to feel a little more prepared in the gear department.
I'll have to check my calendar for the 18th a it sounds like a fun group. I actually grew up in Lakeview
@msbadger: love that dresser! I'm a sucker for mcm too, though I think we might do something more modern (less mid century) in the nursery.
So much planning which is mostly fun for a planner like me!
My 16 week appointment is Thursday, I'm looking forward to hearing baby's heartbeat! I've also been having some weird poke-y feelings in my abdomen - could it be the baby moving? Or just things stretching out and moving around down there? Are any of you ladies feeling movement yet? Any description of what it feels like?

@cakelady For the last three weeks, I've felt like my belly was making popcorn when I lay down at night and tried to sleep on my side. This was happening two or three times a week. When I went to my ultrasound last week, my technician said: "You have to be feeling that--right? He's so active." That made me feel better; I wasn't imagining things! Yesterday, I felt my first definite kick and was lucky enough to have my hand on my belly too so I felt it from the outside.

@msbadger What a great dresser; I like your plans! You'll have to show us when you're done with it.
cherry / 175 posts
I'm a little late to the introduction bandwagon, but wanted to jump onboard!
EDD: June 26th (although the 11 week ultrasound put us at July 1, but my OB is keeping me with the June date :))
When Did You Find Out?: November 23 (the first test we took in October was negative!)
Child Number: #2
Where You Live: Northern California
What kind of provider will you see?: OBGYN
When's Your First Appointment?: Had my first appointment the beginning of December and just had my second last Friday.
What kind of birth do you want?: I had a natural birth with my first using the Bradley method, so I'm hoping for something similar. But, ultimately, I just want a healthy baby and mommy, whatever that takes.
What You're Most Excited For: Holding my little one and for my daughter to have a friend and playmate!
What You're Most Scared About: Maintaining my health so my little one can grow well inside of me.
Symptoms so far: Nausea and exhaustion first trimester, but finally settling down since I entered the second. I have lots of trouble with back pain during pregnancy, and my sciatica is flaring up most days already. But, overall, feeling a lot better with this one than I did with my first.
We will have an ultrasound sometime early February to find out the baby's sex (hopefully). So right now I guess we're Team Green.

@LaurelMae: Welcome!
@Duckling: Thank you for describing it like making popcorn. I've been having some strange sensations lately but I wasn't sure whether they were baby or gas lol. Last night when I was laying down it felt exactly like making popcorn!

@MsBadger: smart idea putting the books a bit higher off the ground I LOVE the dresser - my whole house is pretty much MCM finds. When we moved here a year ago we didn't bring any furniture and I spent months combing Craigslist looking for cheap MCM furniture. I didn't realize how popular it was, I just really like the look!
@spaniellove: Ugh for continued nausea. That just stinks! I feel pretty good, just tired still.
@BabyBruins: That's cool that you're a SAHM now. I'm a WAHM and it's hard - I'm not actually watching DD for most of the day but I still feel pressure to spend time cleaning, cooking and doing other household activities as much as possible. I hear you on meeting other moms. We moved here just a year ago and so far I've made 3 real friends and many acquaintances. What I've noticed is that the people who actually become friends are the ones who you really just instantly feel comfortable with.
@CakeLady: Yay for being team green I hope you can make the meet up - it should be lots of fun. If not this time then soon...That's cook that you grew up in Lakeview, most of my friends here are Chicago transplants. It's always interesting to meet true Chicagoans who know so much more about the city! Glad my gear advice was helpful.
@Duckling: That's exciting that you felt a kick from the outside! I've been feeling movement, but nothing from the outside yet. I remember with my first pregnancy I really started feeling movement and could occasionally from the outside starting at 18w. I'm now getting close to 19w so should happen soon. Although I think I read in my ultrasound report that I have an anterior placenta, so I think that makes movement a bit more muffled.
@LaurelMae: Welcome!

@msbadger What can I say? All I think about is food these days... Thanks for updating our list and adding fancy charts!
@chastenet Thanks. I'm glad someone else felt movement at 18 weeks too. It took me a while to realize I wasn't imagining things.

@LaurelMae: Welcome! Wow, I can't imagine not finding out until the end of November!
@MsBadger: Love that dresser. You better show us the finished product! It's going to look great! And....OMG I LOVE DATA! Need I say more?!
@CakeLady: @Duckling: I was afraid to call what I felt at 15 weeks movement, because what FTM feels it that early? But popcorn is a good description! I kept thinking maybe it was a random spasm, but it was too coincidental.
@BabyBruins: Your yoga class sounds like a great way to meet other SAHMs! I've heard that the daytime ones are actually meant to be an opportunity to do that, and then after the baby is born you know other babies for playdates.
olive / 65 posts
@spaniellove I wouldn't think it's impossible. I first felt it at 16 weeks. Yea!
cherry / 175 posts
@msbadger Love the chart! Yay for slow times at work!
@spaniellove We suspected earlier but the first test I took in October was negative (although it was plenty of time past conception). When I continued to be EXHAUSTED, HUNGRY and having serious cravings, my husband insisted it was time for another test. Positive immediately!
nectarine / 2878 posts
@MsBadger: Wow! Great chart! Thanks for putting it together!
We had a quick scan at 17 weeks yesterday and the doc thinks boy, but told me not to paint the nursery yet Thinking about doing an elective scan though because he scheduled my anatomy scan for 22 weeks and I cannot wait that long!
Anyone else want to post a bump pic?
http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/june-2014-bumps
I can make it Gold if you would feel more comfortable! I need to take an updated pic.

I know this has probably been discussed already but I find mine are always changing…any CRAVINGS? I always think it is funny what I end up craving because it is usually things I probably wouldn't eat on a regular day. Also, the things I craved the most (and things I had the strongest aversions to) are exactly what my DD likes and dislikes now.
Anywhoo, I've been craving turkey sandwiches for several weeks now, usually with avocado and cheese. I've had strong inclinations toward various Italian foods, but nothing in particular.
Anyone else?
persimmon / 1385 posts
I either want things super salty and preferably fried (not really that unusual). Or some sort of baked good (pretty out of the ordinary for me, I can usually take a leave sweets). But I haven't come across any super strong specific cravings yet.
cherry / 212 posts
Oh man, I agree...fried and salty is the way to go! I craved tomatoes for a couple of weeks, but that's about the biggest craving.
I finally found some maternity pants today! I had to try several different stores before I found some that are the right size. SO ready to be in something more comfy!
16 weeks today...can't wait for those baby kicks! And, by the way, I am SO jealous of those of you that have seen baby already! My dr. doesn't do any scans until 20 weeks, so I haven't seen babe at all!
kiwi / 614 posts
@Sunshine710: Congrats!!! Is your LO1 also a girl?
@Mrs.Ham: Ugh waiting till 20w is brutal! So they don't do any 1st tri scan to test for chromosomal defects?
@LaurelMae: Sweet things and popcorn. I also have been loving sparkling water. I went through 24 cans of LaCroix in under a week!
cherry / 175 posts
@Mrs.Ham - 16 weeks today here too! With my first, we weren't able to get a peek until around 19 weeks when we found out the sex, but this time around we got a first trimester ultrasound because I was measuring big (although the ultrasound dated me later). Maybe I was a bit bloated or something that day.
@sunshine710 One of each - how sweet!!
@msbadger & @Mrs.Ham - I haven't noticed this recently but when I was in first trimester, I noticed anything that was even remotely salty (salted butter, salted popcorn, canned soup). Tasted like I was drinking sea water or something -- yuck! Craving is a much better way to go!
cherry / 150 posts
@Chastenet: 20 week scan went really well! He was all perfect.. Phew! Got a lovely shot of his legs too hehe
@MsBadger: I'm going to do 4 book ledges too! Are you making them yourself?
@Chastenet: I'm really crazy about fizzy water too, been drinking so much of it hehe!
I bought a ton of maternity dresses today - 5!! it's summer here (Australia) and I go back to work next week so i'm relieved because I was totally running out of things to wear!
Also got a bikini finally - I've been desperate! Had a really low point the other day at a BUSY beach down south that'll probably give you all a laugh.. I wore an old bikini top that's a bit small for me now and I thought I could get away with a light coloured pair of undies that kinda look like a pair of bikini bottoms.
Ummm no! I got dumped by this big wave which was horrid, got all twirled around under water and my ears popped really bad so I jumped out the water clutching my ears and started wailing, my partner was yelling 'OI OI come here, come here!' at me but I just wanted to run towards the shore! When I looked down my boobs had completely popped out my bikini top and my 'bikini bottoms' had gone COMPLETELY see though!!!! And I was wailing about being dumped and was totally drawing attention to myself!! LOL OMG! not good... So very glad to have some new bathers hehe
cherry / 212 posts
@Chastenet: No, they don't. I supposed if I had asked specifically they would have ... however, it wouldn't change our minds about having the baby anyways, so we're just waiting for 20 weeks...but its so hard!!!
persimmon / 1385 posts
@Tundra Daisy: Oh man that is epic! I am so glad you have a new swim suit! lol
We're taking the lazy mans approach with the book ledges. I bought 4 ribba picture ledges at ikea. But I don't think they'd be hard to make
cherry / 150 posts
@MsBadger: Ah cool!! I didn't know they had those at ikea, I'm going there tomorrow actually so I'll check out if they stock them over here! thanks for the tip!

So...today I told my boss and coworkers that I'm pregnant, and it was so awkward! My boss (a man, who I am not close to at all) cried. Then my coworkers didn't believe me! Oh man...at least I have a good story now!
kiwi / 614 posts
@Tundra Daisy: Glad your scan went well - that IS a good leg pic! Also glad you got a new suit since the undies weren't working for you Definitely makes for a good story though!
@Mrs.Ham: That's strange that your boss cried! Were you as nervous to tell them as I was mine? Mine took it really well, but I had quite a knot in my stomach before telling him.
cherry / 212 posts
@Chastenet: Yes, I was definitely nervous! I took me a week to work up the nerve to tell him!

We are having a girl! I really was expecting our baby to be a boy, so I'm still wrapping my head around the idea of being a mom to a girl. I'm super excited, but nervous too.
Our anatomy scan went great and our junebug looks healthy. The doc had no concerns about the baby.
It does look, however, like I am going to have to have a c-section. And not the modern kind. I have a fibroid right over the cervical opening that has grown like a monster and is measuring 14cm. My ob said that it may shrink, but she is really doubtful it will shrink enough to let us do a vaginal delivery. And because of the location, they can't do the low horizontal cut either. So it will probably be a high vertical cut with the higher associated risks. So, not ideal news, but I trust my ob so much and am just so happy that our baby is healthy that I don't really care too much what it takes to get her out of me.

Sorry got behind on this thread!!
@lilyann: I think I have a bump pic (however unflattering)...I might share if the thread was gold!
@Sunshine710: Congrats on your girl!!
@Tundra Daisy: Love that shot of your boy. And congrats! Can I say how jealous I am that you have beach weather right now?
@meesker: Aww, congrats on becoming a girl mommy and I'm sorry to hear about your fibroid. That's great to hear that you have a wonderful OB whom you trust, which is really important!

@lilyann: can you make the bump thread gold? I think more mamas might post if it were a gold thread. I want to see some more bumps!

Speaking of feeling movement...I was baffled when my OB told me that I might not feel anything for a long time, since I've been feeling kicks since Christmas. And now he's kicking like crazy! Today I felt them from the outside a few times! By the time I tried to get DH to feel it was too late, but one of these days I'm sure he'll get to feel it.
