@spaniellove: I definitely want a new diaper bag. I got a Skip Hop last time and it was just really cheap looking. My sister got a storksak 6 months after me and it is so nice. I want something that looks more "purse-like" so I don't mind carrying it around. I'm thinking of this one: http://www.storksak.com/product.php?shopprodid=335&variantid=987
For strollers, we have a city mini and I loved it, but our nanny beat it up and I want to trade it in for a city select so I can go single when I can and double when I have to. My SIL encouraged me to get it from the beginning but I liked the easy, one handed fold of the city mini too much.
For gliders, I made a quick decision when J was born early and got one from Babies R Us and its just really uncomfortable. It reclines, but has never really worked and has a really hard edge, right at my lower back. Again, my sister made a better decision and custom ordered a Little Castle and her chair is so much better. I also have a cousin who got a chair from Buy Buy Baby, spent more money than us, but really loves her chair. Hubs said if I can get rid of our current one, I can get a new one.
Those are the big things on my list, and I have a couple little items I want to add to our stash.

Hey Mama's! How is everyone feeling? I'm under the weather today - I did something stupid and without even thinking I helped push a friends car out of the snow yesterday...and I'm paying for it today. Lots of RLP, cramping, etc... My OB said to take tylenol and keep an eye out for fetal movement. I'm a little scared!

@Mrs.Ham I am praying of you and the baby today. I hope that your body recovers and calms down. Don't let the stress of this overwhelm you. It is so hard to remember to slow down; I've caught myself trying stupid things a couple of times--it happens so easily!

@BabyBruins: I had the brown Storksak Elizabeth with DS and LOVED it! I will probably use it for a while with DS #2 since I don't carry much for my toddler.
@Mrs.Ham: Ouch!! Hope you feel better soon!

@kentuckygirl: @lilyann: @Duckling: Thanks everyone! Tylenol and lots of water...I think it's helping. Still not feeling fabulous, but have felt the baby move, so that's a good sign.

@Mrs.Ham: I hope you feel better!
We just got back from a week in Park City. Had a great time, but I think I'm coming down with a cold so I'm feeling a little like bluck today.
@laurelmae: Good luck on your anatomy scan today!

@beachbee - My LO is also 15 months (will be 20 months when the new one arrives). She's been doing something similar! Loves to lift my shirt and poke me in the belly button (which is quickly disappearing…;)) and also give hugs to my belly. I think on some level they DO know, although not quite fully. She picked out a little 'baby' of her own at the toy store this weekend. Hoping that helps her be more accepting of this little one.
We aren't doing too much to prepare her because she is so young, but she loves other kids (particularly her cousins) so we're hoping that this translates over for a sibling too!
@msbadger - Thank you for the graph! It's great to see a visual of everything! And thank you for the good wishes for the scan today…we are very excited to see our little one!!

@Mrs.Ham: I did something similar two weeks ago - I think it was overly ambitious class at the gym or snow shoveling (stupid winter weather!) Moving around was so extremely painful that I went in to see the doctor. Fortunately, everything checked out fine and within two or three days I was feeling much better. Hope the same is true for you!
@LaurelMae: My belly button is disappearing too! It is really freaking me out - I have always had a bit of outie-phobia
My anatomy scan is this Thursday - looking forward to seeing the little one. The plan is still team green, though I am getting SO curious! We've also been slowly working on the nursery. The fabric I ordered for the curtains arrived last week and DH just finished building and painting a radiator cover/bookshelf for the room. Lots left to do, but nice to make a little progress.
Hope everyone is doing well!

@CakeLady: Thanks, that makes me feel so much better! My muscles have relaxed a lot today...although I haven't really felt the baby much, so now that is making me nervous! My doctors office seems to not really encourage calling in or coming in...so I feel a little on my own!
Oh my goodness, and my anatomy scan is this Thursday too! So exciting!

Okay, verdict is in……we're having another GIRL!!! We were actually really surprised. I was pretty convinced I was having a boy, but we are SO HAPPY that our daughter is going to have a little sister! (We were happy either way but I'm the oldest of 9 and the other 8 are all boys, so this is especially awesome to me.)
I was a little sore after the scan yesterday as our little one wasn't cooperating, kept burying her head near my bladder so the tech couldn't get the pictures she needed of her head and face. The tech kept pushing the wand down to try and get underneath her, which was not the most comfortable thing in the world.
On a completely different note, my OBGYN announced to me at our last appointment that she is only doing home births from now on. Her sister is in practice so we could transfer over to her…or we could go the home route. I'm not totally opposed but my DH is at this point. I was very happy with her treatment with our last one so I'm reluctant to leave her. Although we were considering it anyways since she is about 40 minutes from our home and there is a hospital only 5-10 minutes from our house. It's so hard making these decisions at this point! We don't have much time….

@LaurelMae: Congrats! With 8 brothers I can see how you must have felt the odds were skewed! And that is a big decision your OB put on you this late in the game.
@Mrs.Ham: It's not really fair that the office doesn't encourage calling; please don't hesitate to call anyway! You should never have to feel bad. I hope you're feeling better and feeling more movement! Good luck at your anatomy scan tomorrow!

Had my anatomy scan today, from what they could see everything looks good. But I was really looking forward to getting to see more of the little one and baby just would not cooperate, it was just hiding out by my fibroid which made it even harder to see (stupid fibroid!!!) we didn't even get to see his or her face (still team green though)
@LaurelMae: my tech was doing a lot of poking around with the wand to get the baby to turn over too - very uncomfortable. And she had me on my side and getting up to try and get the baby to move into a different position. No luck. And by the time it was over I felt totally covered in ultrasound goo - yuck.
But I guess what's important is that baby is healthy. And also stubborn like its dad...
honeydew / 7916 posts
@CakeLady: They can be so stubborn! MFM visits have gotten so predictable for me; they ask me to lie on my side and baby does not roll over. It's good to hear everything at your visit looked good though!! And I hope you're feeling better now.
@Mrs.Ham: How are you feeling today? And how did your anatomy scan go? I hope you're recovered from the other day!
I'm slowly getting my cloth diaper supplies together and I think our nursery renovation is just about done. We just need one more coat of paint. It's so nice to think the guys are out of here and I can finally move things into that room!
How are you guys feeling? I am getting sooooo antsy for spring to be here so I can go outside and WALK. This might be the worst part for me about being pregnant in the winter!

We had another great heart scan this week, so that's three good ones in a row(!!!!!). Baby is a little underweight, coming in at 20th percentile, so now we just have to think fattening thoughts for him. Glad to see so many had good anatomy scans! Congrats, everyone.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@Duckling: Three in a row is so promising! Every week I'm thinking of you guys. And fattening thoughts for our LOs!

@Duckling: Yay!!! So excited for 3 good scans! Hope your LO and @spaniellove: 's grow bigger!
I had a pretty uneventful week. With work and snowy/icy weather, I haven't made any progress on baby things. I do plans to have lunch and do my registry next Saturday with my sister and another good mom friend! Excited to get that done!
Hope everyone is doing well!

@kentuckygirl: Can you believe it's already that time? Where did you decide to do your registry?
Does anyone have an appointment coming up? @Duckling: when is your next fetal echo?
kiwi / 551 posts
@spaniellove: I have my 1 hour glucose test on Wednesday (er, maybe Tuesday, my doc just called). I'm testing early since I got it with my last pregnancy. I'm honestly expecting to get it again and would be more shocked if I didn't have to do the 3 hour test and start monitoring my sugar.
I'll let you all know how it goes!
honeydew / 7916 posts
@BabyBruins: Good luck! It's good that this time you'll be ahead of the game! BTW, did you make any progress with choosing a diaper bag?
pear / 1657 posts
@spaniellove: I will be going back for another go at my anatomy scan this Friday since they weren't able to get all the pictures they need last time.
Also going to visit a daycare tomorrow and another one next week. We still aren't 100% sure what our plan is for child care, but we are trying to investigate options - especially the ones with waitlists. We are also considering a nanny/nanny share but it seems a bit early for that still.
olive / 65 posts
@spaniellove Our next fetal heart scan and growth measurement is on Wednesday (2 days!). Our last one was on Friday, so it hasn't give him much time to fatten up. Oh well. I hope your baby's weight improves and you can get more peace of mind at you next appointment. When will you get another measurement?
For a gift registry, I'm using myregistry.com because we live in an area with only one store where I can register (Target) so many order gifts online or travel to shop.

@spaniellove: My next appointment is my glucose test. But it's not until March 5th.
My doctor does the two hour test. Have any of you done or are scheduled for the two hour as well?
kiwi / 551 posts
@spaniellove: I think I am sold on the Storksak Caroline. I went to Nordstrom the other day to see if I could just hold it and see how big it is, but the one I went to didn't have it in store. I think my mom was shocked by the price ($230), but its a nice bag and I have spent that much on a purse before. I think I'm still a month or two away from making a purchase.
@MsBadger: I am heading in for my 1 hour test in 2 hours! I kind of wish that my OB would just have me do the 3 hour test since I got GD last time, but she says that every pregnancy is different. I wasn't given the option of a 2 hour test.
nectarine / 2878 posts
We just had our anatomy scan today (pretty late at 22 weeks) but I think my doc scheduled it later because in earlier scans I was showing placenta previa and I bet he was hoping it had moved. It has moved slightly, like it isn't covering the cervix anymore but it is still low lying Hoping it moves enough to where I don't have to schedule another C-section, I was really wanting to try for a VBAC this time.
@BabyBruins: I'll be testing early for GD too since I had it last time as well. Hope you pass yours!
honeydew / 7916 posts
@Duckling: Good luck at today's appointment! Our next growth scan isn't until 3/19 so I'm trying not to think about it. Although I can tell you my belly is getting enormous so something is growing.
@CakeLady: Looking into all your options sounds like a good idea, and if you don't like what you see at the daycares at this point then you'll still have time to talk to nannies, right?
@BabyBruins: Storksak bags are so nice! I bought a Kate a few months back and ended up returning it because the patent leather was heavy, but the quality was great and the bag was just so beautiful. Saks sometimes has them for 25% off!
@lilyann: I hope it moves too! They say that if it's low-lying around now, as your uterus gets bigger your placenta moves further away, so there's hope!

1 hour glucose test = FAIL!
I was expecting this. I have to go in for the 3 hour on Monday and I am not looking forward to FOUR needle sticks. Fortunately, I failed by a much smaller margin (only 2 points) than last time. Maybe I will get a miracle and pass the 3 hour test, but honestly, it might be better if I just get GD...I am eating terribly and it will get me on a better path.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@BabyBruins: Aww, 2 points! (I don't know how many points there are) Boo for more needle sticks!

Since we have a lack of pictures in this thread I thought I'd share something from last week's fetal echo. They got a good shot of his face and I've been looking at it a lot. I just can't wait to find out if this is what he really looks like!
kiwi / 551 posts
@spaniellove: That is a good shot! We got some 3D shots at the anatomy scan and he looks very similar to his brother. I can't wait to see how similar or different he looks to J.
Ugh, I had to get a 140 to pass the test and I got a 142. The nurse made it sound like they could have let it go, but with my history, they want to do the 3 hour test.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@BabyBruins: It's just so crazy that they look human now and not like a generic ultrasound baby! BTW...I feel so sheepish saying this but I think I may get that same bag. Yesterday a bag arrived that I've been waiting for and I loved that it looks like my MJ leather bags but I hate the weight/love the inside pockets. Why do I torture myself with those heavy bags? I think I've been counting out bags like the Caroline because of the shape but duh, I've been carrying around a doctor-shape bag for the longest time.
kiwi / 551 posts
@spaniellove: I am going to try another store near where I am doing a short job this weekend to see if I can hold the bag and get a sense of the size. I'll try and snap a picture for you if you want!
honeydew / 7916 posts
@BabyBruins: Bahahaha, I ordered it while I was trapped inside during the storm yesterday! But it won't be here until Wednesday so I'd love to see your pictures anyway!

I forgot to mention that I found out that some of the "kicks" I've been feeling are actually "punches"! Who knew?
kiwi / 551 posts
@spaniellove: So I went to the store on Saturday afternoon and "test drove" the bag. (No mirrors so no pictures) The lady probably thought I was crazy since I walked around the store doing other shopping with the empty bag over my shoulder. It was stuffed with tissue paper which made it a little full. I liked that I could put the handles over my shoulder, over my elbow or hold it easily and there is a longer shoulder strap. The stroller clips also look really good. I kind of wish it opened a little wider, but that also may have been because of all the tissue paper. Pockets looked good. Overall it had a nice look. The price seems a little high, but it is still much nicer than my previous bag and I could see myself carrying it after babies. I think I am going to go for it (and see if my mom and sister will go threesies with me).
I am 1 hour down in my 3 hour glucose test. I'm STARVING, I have a bit of a stomach ache and I just wish I could drink some water. Baby is moving around a ton in there. 2 sticks down, 2 to go. Bleh.
And finally, I worked a short contract job this weekend so hubs had to watch J all day Sat/Sun and now he is alone with him again this morning while I do my test. They apparently had a tough day yesterday and he is making it sound like he deserves the biggest pat on the back for watching him. I know he loves J and enjoys being with him, but he is totally doing daddy care complete with non-stop Mickey Mouse Club, Curious George and other Netflix favorites. Maybe take the kid to the park and he won't go stir crazy in the house all day. We do live in California. And you're not babysitting...you're parenting.
pear / 1786 posts
@BabyBruins: Good luck with your glucose test. I have my 1 hour test on Thursday and I am not looking forward to it, so I can only imagine what you are going through with the full four hour test.
We did our general hospital/birthing classes last week. I am glad we went but don't feel like I learned a whole lot of new info, thanks to HB and being the last of my friends to have kids.
We painted the nursery yesterday. Now we have to work on the beadboard and molding over the next few weeks.
I also got started on my BRU registry. There are a few things I want at Buy Buy Baby, but there is not a store close to many of my family and friends, so I will either tell a few people what I want there or just buy it ourselves. We already have a few things on a PBK registry and I need to do a Wal-Mart registry since that is the only store close to a few people.
I think I found a glider at BBB. It is also a recliner but when reclinded doesn't rock/glide at all. So I may also get the gliding ottoman. Or I may shop around. I didn't ask about delivery times so I may call them this week (the store is an hour away). I am starting to worry I need to order the remaining furniture soon, in case there is a delay with delivery. I am 24 weeks and it suddenly feels like baby will be here before we know it.
How is everyone else doing?
kiwi / 551 posts
@kentuckygirl: One hour left!
I totally recommend getting a reclining chair. I don't think its a big deal that it doesn't glide when reclined because your feet will be up anyways and you kind of need your foot on the ground to move the glider. That is just my experience. We don't have an ottoman, again because we put our feet up when the chair is back, but I'm glad we don't because it would take up extra space and I would want to move it around too much, but that is us. My cousin got her chair at BBB and LOVES it. Another advantage of ordering earlier is that you could get some sleep in it if your bed is becoming uncomfortable near the end. My sleep is terrible these days and I need no less than 4 pillows to "support" everything.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@Duckling: I totally believe it! The other day I felt what might have been an arm or something moving across. It was freaky!
@BabyBruins: Good luck! Just the description sounds miserable. I hope you get the bag so we can be bag twins. Did you feel like the shorter straps fit comfortably over your shoulder? It worried me a little that all the promotional photos showed a model draping the bag over her arm, like yes I'm going to be doing that with my heavy diaper bag. I'm such a hot mom you know.
@kentuckygirl: I second the recommendation to order early if you can! I ordered ours (a Best Chair) through JCP and their quote of 1-2 weeks turned into more like a month with delays. It's a gliding recliner and it glides a little when reclined but I don't think it's necessary and possibly a safety issue if someone was gliding too hard while reclined. I'm with you on the sudden feeling that baby is going to be here soon...I was trying to explain that to DH last week.
kiwi / 551 posts
@lilyann: Almost done. I actually feel good. Thanks for the positive vibes. The nurse just told me that with my last pregnancy, I TOTALLY failed the 1 hour (188 out of 140). This time I only got a 142 so I am feeling positive about that. I brought my blood monitoring meter so I could keep tabs on what was happening and not wait for the results, but opened it to only find one strip, so it was not meant to be. But even if I get it, I know its manageable so I'm not going to lose my s**t like last time.
@spaniellove: The bag was totally comfortable over my shoulder. There were a lot of ways I could hold it, which is what I do with my purse anyways, so I liked that. I was more shocked that the model was wearing a long peacoat and high heeled leather boots, which is what I ALWAYS wear when out with my baby. I need to know if this bag will look good with yoga pants and flip flops.
